Why Did the Mayan Civilization Collapse? A New Study Points to Deforestation and Climate Change

A severe drought, exacerbated by widespread logging, appears to have triggered the mysterious Mayan demise

It’s long been one of ancient history’s most intriguing mysteries: Why did the Maya, a remarkably sophisticated civilization made up of more than 19 million people, suddenly collapse sometime during the 8th or 9th centuries? Although the Mayan people never entirely disappeared—their descendants still live across Central America—dozens of core urban areas in the lowlands of the Yucatan peninsula, such as Tikal, went from bustling cities to abandoned ruins over the course of roughly a hundred years.

Scholars and laypeople have proposed countless theories accounting for the collapse, ranging from the plausible (overhunting, foreign invasion, peasant revolt) to the absurd (alien invasion, supernatural forces). In his 2005 book Collapse, though, Jared Diamond put forth a different sort of theory—that a prolonged drought, exacerbated by ill-advised deforestation, forced Mayan populations to abandon their cities. That hypothesis has finally been put to the test with archaeological evidence and environmental data and the results published this week in a pair of studies.

In the first study, published Tuesday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers from Arizona State University analyzed archaeological data from across the Yucatan to reach a better understanding of the environmental conditions when the area was abandoned. Around this time, they found, severe reductions in rainfall were coupled with an rapid rate of deforestation, as the Mayans burned and chopped down more and more forest to clear land for agriculture. Interestingly, they also required massive amounts of wood to fuel the fires that cooked the lime plaster for their elaborate constructions—experts estimate it would have taken 20 trees to produce a single square meter of cityscape.

The other study, published by researchers from Columbia University and elsewhere this week in Geophysical Research Letters, applied quantitative data to these trends. Using population records and measurements from current forested and cleared lands in the region, they constructed a computer model of deforestation in the Yucatan and ran simulations to see how this would have affected rainfall.

Because cleared land absorbs less solar radiation, less water evaporates from its surface, making clouds and rainfall more scarce. As a result, the rapid deforestation exacerbated an already severe drought—in the simulation, deforestation reduced precipitation by five to 15 percent and was responsible for 60 percent of the total drying that occurred over the course of a century as the Mayan civilization collapsed. The lack of forest cover also contributed to erosion and soil depletion.

In a time of unprecedented population density, this combination of factors was likely catastrophic. Crops failed, especially because the droughts occurred disproportionately during the summer growing season. Coincidentally, trade shifted from overland routes, which crossed the heart of the lowland, to sea-based voyages, moving around the perimeter of the peninsula.

Since the traditional elite relied largely upon this trade—along with annual crop surpluses—to build wealth, they were sapped of much of their power. This forced peasants and craftsmen into making a critical choice, perhaps necessary to escape starvation: abandoning the lowlands. The results are the ornate ruins that stretch across the peninsula today.

The collapse is especially intriguing because it seemingly occurred at “a time in which developed a sophisticated understanding of their environment, built and sustained intensive production and water systems and withstood at least two long-term episodes of aridity,” says B.L. Turner, the lead author of the ASU study. In other words, the Maya were no fools. They knew their environment and how to survive within it—and still they continued deforesting at a rapid pace, until the local environment was unable to sustain their society.

One of the lessons of these complementary studies, says climate modeler Robert Oglesby of the University of Nebraska, who worked on the second paper, is that our reshaping of the environment can often have unintended consequences—and we may not have any idea of what they are until it’s too late. For a present-day example, we can even look to another region where the ancient Maya lived, Guatemala, which is undergoing rapid deforestation. “There’s a tremendous amount of change going on in Guatemala,” said Oglesby. “They may be that much more vulnerable to a severe drought.”

L’incroyable ovni de la taille de Jupiter…

Ces images qui ont été publiées en 2017 nous montreraient un ovni de très grande taille qui serait en train de plonger dans le soleil…

Ces photos ont été prises par le système SOHO, Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, un observatoire du soleil mis en place par la NASA et l’ESA. Sur les différents clichés, on peut voir ce qui semble être un ovni ayant une forme allongée et semblant être composé de plusieurs cercles. L’objet en question semble plonger dans le soleil. Difficile de dire la raison de cette collision.

Les dimensions de notre appareil semblent assez proche de celui de la planète Jupiter, ce qui en fait un ovni de très grande taille. Pour certains ufologues, cet engin serait entré en contact avec le soleil afin de refaire le plein d’énergie. Pour d’autres, il se serait écrasé sur notre étoile.

L’objet qui a été photographié a un aspect assez étonnant. Sa forme est parfaitement symétrique. Il est translucide et semble être composé de plusieurs parties. Il n’est pas sans rappeler certaines cellules ou créature microscopique. Les dimensions de notre appareil semblent assez proches de celui de la planète Jupiter, ce qui en fait un ovni de très grande taille. Difficile de vraiment savoir de quoi il s’agit. Si pour certains ufologues, il s’agit d’un ovni, on pourrait aussi penser à une anomalie provenant d’une lentille du télescope. Il serait intéressant de savoir s’il a été ou non observé par plusieurs appareils.

Ce nouvel ovni est étonnant, mais il manque quelques informations pour en savoir vraiment plus. Si sa forme ne donne pas l’impression d’être naturelle ce qui pourrait confirmer son origine extraterrestre. Il faudrait surtout savoir s’il a été détecté par d’autres appareils afin de confirmer qu’il y avait bien quelque chose ce jour-là qui s’est un peu trop rapproché du soleil…

LA NASA ENQUÊTE SUR UN MYSTÉRIEUX OBJET BRILLANT SUR MARS, PREUVE D'UNE VIE INTELLIGENTE EXTRATERRESTRE ?

La NASA dispose actuellement d'un budget de plusieurs milliards de dollars et participe à un grand nombre de missions, y compris de futurs voyages dans l'espace et le changement climatique. Cependant, cela ne l'empêche pas d'être au centre de toutes les théories du complot. Et parmi toutes les accusations, la plus surprenante est celle impliquant l’agence spatiale américaine et une colonie d’esclaves sur Mars. Plus précisément, un agent de la CIA à la retraite a déclaré que des enfants étaient secrètement envoyés sur Mars dans une colonie d'esclavage.

La controverse a atteint une telle ampleur qu'un porte-parole de l'exploration de Mars par la NASA a été obligé de nier de telles accusations, affirmant que sur la planète rouge, il n'y a pas d'humain, il n'y a que des véhicules motorisés. Mais maintenant, c’est la NASA elle-même qui a révélé qu’elle enquêtait sur un mystérieux objet brillant à la surface martienne.

L'objet martien mystérieux

La NASA a découvert un objet étrange et lumineux sur Mars. Le rover Curiosity l'a donc analysé de près. Officiellement appelés "Little Colonsay", les scientifiques ont vu l'objet mystérieux dans une image plus grande et ils ont maintenant décidé de revenir l'étudier.

"Nous allons essayer de mieux voir le" petit Colonsay "", a déclaré la NASA. "L'équipe de planification pense qu'il pourrait s'agir d'un météore parce que c'est brillant. Mais les apparences sont trompeuses et les tests ne le prouveront que par la chimie. Malheureusement, le petit objectif avait été perdu lors de la tentative précédente et avec cette information, Curiosity essaiera à nouveau. "

Les opérateurs utiliseront le ChemCam (complexe Chimie et Caméra), un ensemble d'instruments permettant la détection à distance du mobile Curiosity, afin d'étudier l'objet énigmatique. Construit un spectrographe fournit des détails sur les minéraux et les microstructures dans les roches en mesurant la composition du plasma résultant, un des ions de gaz extrêmement chaud et des électrons fait flotter librement. La caméra peut résoudre les caractéristiques 5 à 10 fois plus petites que celles visibles avec les chambres des deux rovers de la NASA a commencé à explorer la planète rouge en Janvier 2004. La curiosité a fonctionné dans la Rubin Cordillera Vera, enquête le site de forage Highfield, une zone unique de roches grises.

Preuve de l'existence d'une vie extraterrestre intelligente sur Mars

Mais ce n’est pas la première fois que le rover Curiosity rencontre des objets vraiment curieux qui semblent hors de propos. Peut-être l'incident le plus bizarre a eu lieu en 2013, quand la curiosité a découvert un écureuil de roche en forme, qui selon les experts est un exemple clair de paréidolie, une sorte d'illusion d'optique qui fait face, les animaux et les objets de tous les jours sur les stimuli sont projetés ou des moyens insignifiants.

Mais les explications officielles ne convainquent pas les théoriciens du complot, qui ont des points de vue complètement différents. Assurez-vous que la roche prétendue appelée « Little Colonsay » pourrait être un fossile ou peut-être un objet métallique, ce qui montre que Mars était et continue d'être, peut-être intelligent, la vie extra-terrestre sur Mars. De plus, non seulement les « théoriciens du complot » sont les seuls à croire que tous ces objets témoignent de la vie sur la planète rouge et que la NASA camoufle. En 2014, le Dr John Brandenburg a présenté une recherche à la réunion annuelle d'automne de l'American Physical Society, qui a affirmé que deux civilisations martiennes ont été tués par d'autres étrangers avec des armes nucléaires.

Les deux anciennes civilisations d'humanoïdes, l'une dans la région appelée Cydonia Mensae et l'autre dans Galaxias Chaos, avaient un niveau technologique similaire à celui des anciens Égyptiens. Deux catastrophes majeures ont toutefois eu lieu : l’impact des astéroïdes sur la civilisation dite des Cydoniens et l’autre dans la civilisation des utopies, qui a déclenché une explosion thermonucléaire due à des causes naturelles. La théorie de Dr. Brandenburg est basée sur le fait que la surface de Mars est recouverte d'une fine couche de substances radioactives telles que l'uranium, le thorium et le potassium radioactif, et que ce motif émane d'un point chaud. Ensuite, une explosion nucléaire aurait pu envoyer les déchets de ces civilisations sur toute la planète.

Nous sommes sûrs que le nouvel objet mystérieux trouvé sur Mars devra parler, à la fois dans la communauté scientifique et dans le complot. Mais ce dont nous sommes sûrs, c’est que, s’il est la preuve de l’existence d’une vie intelligente sur la planète rouge, la NASA finira par le cacher. Ensuite, l'objet étrange sera une météorite. Donc, la seule chose qui reste est de spéculer.

Are near-death experiences just hallucinations?

In our never-ending quest to understand what happens to us after we die, humans have long seen the rare phenomenon of near-death experiences as providing some hints. People who’ve had a brush with death often report seeing and experiencing life-altering events on “the other side,” like a bright white light at the end of a long tunnel, or being reunited with lost relatives or beloved pets. But despite the seemingly supernatural nature of these experiences, experts say that science can explain why they happen – and what’s really going on.

What are near-death experiences?

A near-death experience is a profound psychological event with mystical elements. It typically occurs in people close to death, or during situations of intense physical or emotional pain, but may also happen after heart attacks or traumatic brain injuries, or even during meditation and syncope (loss of consciousness due to a fall in blood pressure). They’re surprisingly common, with a third of people who have come close to death reporting having experienced one.

Common characteristics people report are feelings of contentment, psychic detachment from the body (such as out-of-body experiences), rapid movement through a long dark tunnel, and entering a bright light.

Culture and age may also influence the kind of near-death experience people have. For example, many Indians report meeting the Hindu king of the dead, Yamraj, while Americans often claim to have met Jesus. Children typically describe encountering friends and teachers “in the light”.

Most reported near-death experiences are positive, and have even helped in reducing death anxiety, affirming life, and increasing well-being. However, some near-death experiences are negative and include feelings such as lack of control, awareness of nonexistence, hellish imagery, or perceived judgement from a higher being.

Why do near-death experiences happen?

Neuroscientists Olaf Blanke and Sebastian Dieguez have proposed two types of near-death experiences. Type one, which is associated with the brain’s left hemisphere, features an altered sense of time and impressions of flying. Type two, involving the right hemisphere, is characterised by seeing or communicating with spirits, and hearing voices, sounds and music. While it’s unclear why there are different types of near-death experiences, the different interactions between brain regions produce these distinct experiences.

The temporal lobes also play an important role in near-death experiences. This area of the brain is involved with processing sensory information and memory, so abnormal activity in these lobes can produce strange sensations and perceptions.

Despite several theories used to explain near-death experiences, getting to the bottom of what causes them is difficult. Religious people believe near-death experiences provide evidence for life after death – in particular, the separation of the spirit from the body. Whereas scientific explanations for near-death experiences include depersonalisation, which is a sense of being detached from your body. Scientific author Carl Sagan even suggested that the stress of death produces a remembrance of birth, suggesting the “tunnel” people see is a reimagining of the birth canal.

But due to the fanciful nature of these theories, other explanations have emerged. Some researchers claim that endorphins released during stressful events may produce something like near-death experience, particularly by reducing pain and increasing pleasant sensations. Similarly, anaesthetics such as ketamine can simulate near-death experience characteristics, such as out-of-body experiences.

Other theories suggest near-death experiences arise from dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a psychedelic drug that occurs naturally in some plants. Rick Strassman, a professor of psychiatry, observed in a study from 1990 to 1995 that people had near-death and mystical experiences following injection of DMT. According to Strassman, the body has natural DMT released at birth and death. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this view. Overall, chemical-based theories lack precision and can’t explain the full range of near-death experience features people experience.

Researchers have also explained near-death experiences via cerebral anoxia, a lack of oxygen to the brain. One researcher found air pilots who experienced unconsciousness during rapid acceleration described near-death experience-like features, such as tunnel vision. Lack of oxygen may also trigger temporal lobe seizures which causes hallucinations. These may be similar to a near-death experience.

But the most widespread explanation for near-death experiences is the dying brain hypothesis. This theory proposes that near-death experiences are hallucinations caused by activity in the brain as cells begin to die. As these occur during times of crisis, this would explain the stories survivors recount. The problem with this theory, though plausible, is that it fails to explain the full range of features that may occur during near-death experiences, such as why people have out-of-body experiences.

Currently, there is no definitive explanation for why near-death experiences happen. But ongoing research still strives to understand this enigmatic phenomenon. Whether paranormal or not, near-death experiences are extremely important. They provide meaning, hope, and purpose for many people, while offering an appreciation of the human desire to survive beyond death.

A NASA scientist says intelligent aliens may have already visited Earth - but claims humans would not have noticed due to their 'extremely tiny' size.

Silvano P. Colombano says the extra-terrestrials would have looked hugely different to the carbon-based organisms currently roaming our planet.

He says that 'super intelligent' aliens would posses technology that humans cannot even imagine, and may have capable of interstellar space-travel.

It comes as NASA scans the universe for civilisations as prat of its 'Search for extraterrestrial intelligence' (SETI) programme.

Silvano P. Colombano, who works in NASA's Intelligent Systems Division, believes we could have missed alien life,as it could be very different from the traditional carbon based life humanity is used to. Pictured, a classic 'flying saucer.

Dr Colombano told Califoria's SETI-backed Decoding Alien Intelligence Workshop back in March that scientists need to broaden their idea of what an extra-terrestrial would like like.

'I simply want to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn't already) might not be at all be produced by carbon based organisms like us,' his report read.

He added that scientists must 're-visit even our most cherished assumptions', which has implications for everything from an alien's lifespan to its height.  

'The size of the 'explorer' might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity,' he says.   

He believes scientists are too focused on pursuing signs of modern human technology on other planets.

This could mean missing signals of a civilisation inhabiting a planet far older than Earth, Dr Colombano argues.

Our inability to comprehend how such a planet would look might even mean that we miss any signs of its existence.  

A pair of Australian radio telescopes pointed at the same spot in the sky have revealed new clues on the nature of mysterious signals known as fast radio bursts. The ASKAP managed to detect several fast radio bursts during its observation (artist's impression). However, one expert warned that radio waves could be out of date.

He said: 'Considering further that technological development in our civilisation started only about 10K years ago and has seen the rise of scientific methodologies only in the past 500 years, we can surmise that we might have a real problem in predicting technological evolution even for the next thousand years, let alone 6 Million times that amount!' 

He also warned that fast radio bursts currently being analysed could be out of date and called for 'speculative physics' grounded in solid theories but 'with some willingness to stretch possibilities as to the nature of space-time and energy' and to 'consider the UFO phenomenon worthy of study'.

The space expert also claimed not every UFO sighting can be 'explained or denied'.

Uiterst kleine superintelligente entiteit

De professor pleit voor het verbreden van onze inzichten. Hij roept fysici op om op basis van de gekende theorieën toch de “speculatieve” toer te durven opgaan, meer op schaal van de ruimte. We moeten “zelfs onze meest gekoesterde veronderstellingen herbekijken”, argumenteert Colombano. 

“Onze typerende levensduur hoeft niet langer een beperking te zijn... en de grootte van de ‘verkenner’ zou weleens die van een uiterst kleine superintelligente entiteit kunnen zijn”, aldus de NASA-wetenschapper over interstellaire ruimtereizen. Hij suggereert het bestaan van veel verder ontwikkelde vormen van buitenaards leven, vergelijkbaar met de menselijke creatie van alsmaar intelligentere computers waarmee wij in symbiose treden. Denk maar aan artificiële intelligentie.

Nog onder ons?

Ook de manieren van communicatie waarop we ons altijd al concentreerden zijn volgens Colombano misschien aan herziening toe. Zoals radiogolven, die weleens compleet verouderd zouden kunnen zijn voor aliens. Wat de professor dan weer de bedenking ontlokt dat aliens mogelijk ooit al op onze aarde kwamen, hier even een kijkje namen, en al snel weer weg waren, uit desinteresse. Of... ze zijn nog altijd onder ons, terwijl we niet eens weten hoe met hen te communiceren.

Paul Hellyer, who was a Canadian minister from 1963 to 1967, is now urging world powers to release what he believes to be hidden data on UFOs.

'Much of the media won't touch [the documents]', he said during a keynote speech at the Disclosure Canada Tour at the University of Calgary.

'You just have to keep working away and hope that someday you get a critical mass,' he said, according to a report by CTV.

'[The public] will say, in one way or another, "Mr President or Mr Prime Minister we want the truth and we want it now because it affects our lives."'

Hellyer, 91, first went public with his belief in aliens on Earth in 2005, becoming the first high ranking politician to do so.

He claims that the aliens have 'been visiting our planet for thousands of years' and are unimpressed with how we live.

'We spend too much time fighting each other, we spend too much money on military expenditures and not enough on feeding the poor and looking after the homeless and sick,' he said.

Last year, the former Canadian defence minister declared on Russian TV that aliens are walking among us.

But he said they are refusing to share their advanced technologies until we change our polluting and warring ways.

He told Russia Today's program SophieCo there are 80 different species of extra-terrestrials some of whom 'look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn't know if you walked past one.'

In the bizarre interview, Hellyer made a series of pronouncements about aliens which grew increasingly outlandish and sounded closer to the plot of Star Trek.

'We have a long history of UFOs and of course there has been a lot more activity in the last few decades since we invented the atomic bomb,' he said.

'They are very concerned about that and that we might use it again, because the whole cosmos as a unity, and it affects not just us but other people in the cosmos.

'They are very much afraid that we might be stupid enough to start using atomic weapons again.'

However Hellyer told SophieCo that most of the aliens want to help rather than destroy us.

'I would say that nearly all are benign and benevolent and they do want to help us, there may be one or two species which do not,' he said.

Hellyer believes aliens are responsible for some of our modern technology including the microchip, LED light and Kevlar vest, he said.

He says he has never met an alien, but has seen a UFO near his cabin on Ontario's Lake Muskoka.

Hellyer described several types of aliens including 'Tall Whites' who are working with the U.S. air force in Nevada.-

'They're able to get away with that; they had a couple of their ladies dressed as nuns go into Las Vegas to shop and they weren't detected,' he claimed.

Another group of aliens are called 'Short Greys' who have very slim arms and legs and are about five feet high with large heads.

A third group are called 'Nordic Blondes' and Hellyer said that if you meet one you'd probably say, 'I wonder if she's from Denmark or somewhere.'

Hellyer's claims are likely to fuel conspiracy theorists who often look at Nasa images for evidence of aliens. If you want a definitive answer on the question of whether aliens have visited Earth, would you ask a politician, an astronaut, a philosopher, your neighbor who claims he’s an abductee or a NASA scientist? If you picked that last one but you don’t know any NASA scientists, we bring you Silvano P. Colombano, a computer scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in California who says he believes they’ve already been here … we just didn’t recognize them.

“I simply want to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn’t already) might not be at all be produced by carbon based organisms like us.”

In a new paper entitled “New Assumptions to Guide Seti Research,” Professor Colombano posits that extraterrestrials may not fit our conventional wisdom … or even our unconventional wisdom. Beyond being composed of something other than carbon, he proposes that beings who have the ability to travel long distances to get here may have lifespans far longer than ours, so that the ones who left their planet many light years away are the same ones who landed here. Not only that, the idea that they’re about our size (so we can put the benevolent ones on our bikes and punch out the evil ones) may not hold either.

“Our typical life-spans would no longer be a limitation (although even these could be dealt with multi-generational missions or suspended animation), and the size of the ‘explorer’ might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity.”

Is Colombano just thinking outside of the space box or does he know something about aliens that we don’t? It sounds more like he knows there’s something there and he wants both the scientific community and the general public to work together to get beyond our current assumptions so that we can see them.

“In the very large amount of “noise” in UFO reporting there may be “signals” however small, that indicate some phenomena that cannot be explained or denied. If we adopt a new set of assumptions about what forms of higher intelligence and technology we might find, some of those phenomena might fit specific hypotheses, and we could start some serious enquiry.”

Getting beyond the “noise” – that sounds like what many in the ufology field have been calling for lately. To accomplish this, Colombano believes the scientific community must accept the possibility of interstellar travel and the public must look beyond the “hoaxes, mistaken perceptions or even psychotic events in UFO phenomena.” Psychotic events? Does he have a certain rock star in mind?

While Colombano’s field is SETI, he recommends that his fellow scientists consider “speculative physics” that “stretch possibilities as to the nature of space-time and energy.” He also wants sociologists to speculate on new societies and how they might communicate with us … not to mention how we might communicate with them.

That all sounds great and it’s highly unusual to be coming from a NASA scientist, but in order to keep from getting lumped into pseudoscience or “psychotic events,” we need a catchy slogan that everyone can latch onto and put on a T-shirt to wear at “talk to the aliens” rallies. Colombano has the perfect candidate:

“Find the signal in the noise.”

Archaeologists have found two new caves near Qumran in the West Bank that they think may hold some Dead Sea Scrolls. The newly found caves, which are called 53b and 53c, are located close to other caves where some scrolls have already been found.

The previously found Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in twelve caves that were near Qumran and included 900 manuscripts. It is thought that a group of people called Essenes lived in Qumran and that they were the ones who wrote a lot of the scrolls. The Essenes ended up leaving the area around 70 A.D. when a revolt began against the Romans.

The first eleven caves were found between the years 1946 and 1956. Those eleven caves held the majority of the scrolls. The twelfth cave, however, was discovered much later in 2017 and only one blank scroll was found inside. They archaeologists did, however, find jars, textiles, string, and rope that were used to store the scrolls. By finding the remains of items used to store them, but not finding the actual Dead Sea Scrolls, it would indicate that they were more than likely stolen at some point.

The two new caves that have been recently discovered are close in proximity to the twelfth cave and they also contain evidence that indicates scrolls were indeed there in the past. Unfortunately, archaeologists have yet to find any remaining scrolls but they still have a lot of investigating to do.

Inside of cave 53b, researchers found several artifacts from humans visiting the cave years earlier, which included a bronze cooking pot and an oil lamp. In a paper written by archaeologists Randall Price of Liberty University in Virginia and Oren Gutfeld of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, they wrote that researchers found “large amounts of pottery representing store jars, flasks, cups and cooking pots, and fragments of woven textiles, braided ropes and string.”

After analyzing the bronze cooking pot, it was determined that it dates back from between 100 B.C. and 15 B.C. which is also the same time that people were living at the archaeological site of Qumran. Also, the oil lamp that was found in the cave looks quite similar to the lamps that were found at Qumran which would indicate that the people who inhabited the site more than likely used the caves as well.

Price told Live Science, “We have not analyzed all of the pottery from this cave, so we do not know if a scroll jar was present.” But since the rope, string, and textiles found in cave 53b are quite similar to the ones previously found in cave 12, it may have also been used to store the scrolls as well.

As for the second newly found cave, called 53c, researchers found a piece of a scroll jar which indicates that scrolls were stored in that cave at one time. They are currently excavating the cave to see if they can find any evidence of hidden scrolls.

And so it arrives: Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell’s much-anticipated feature documentary about one of the most controversial UFO stories ever told—a story that, along with the infamous Roswell Incident of 1947, has arguably done more than any other to shape the landscape of modern UFO mythology.

In November of 1989, a thirty-year-old scientist by the name of Robert Lazar was interviewed exclusively by the respected investigative reporter George Knapp for the Las Vegas-based KLAS TV station. The topic of the interview was Lazar’s alleged recent employment at a top secret facility in the Nevada desert called S-4, which was located close to another top secret facility called Area 51 (unknown to the public at the time). The story Lazar told was jaw-dropping, and he stands by it—word-for-word—to this day, despite continuous harassment by incredulous journalists, UFO buffs, and, apparently, various government agencies.

For those with an open mind (okay, a very open mind), it is perhaps easier to believe Lazar than one might imagine. He has always come across as absolutely sincere and has always resisted encouragement to embellish his original testimony. I am of the opinion that Lazar has never spoken untruthfully about his recollections of Area 51 and S-4. However, I have also never doubted that the story that he tells is untrue—which is to say that the circumstances and events of Lazar’s story were carefully orchestrated and staged for him specifically as part of a sophisticated and ongoing UFO perception management campaign, which likely has counterintelligence purposes far beyond the UFO subject.

As has been documented by George Knapp and others, there is good reason to believe that Lazar really did work at and/or near Area 51 for a short time in the late 1980s. But it appears he was cherry picked for his job based on his psychological profile and his spotty personal and business history. In other words, it was known and desired that he would blow the whistle when the time came, and that it would be easy to publicly discredit him after he did so, ensuring that his story would not be accepted by all, but by just enough to engrain it into a rapidly expanding subcultural belief system.

Lazar told Knapp how he had been recruited to work at S-4 for just a few weeks in 1988 and 1989. Everything was cloaked in secrecy and the atmosphere at the base was oppressive. Information was shared there strictly on a need-to-know basis and his every move was closely monitored by armed security personnel. He claimed that he was tasked with helping his employers at S-4 to understand the propulsion system of a highly advanced air/space vehicle, which was being stored in one of nine camouflaged hangars at the facility.

When Lazar first set eyes on the craft—which was classic saucer-shaped and which he later dubbed ‘the sport model’—he assumed it was man-made. He had not been a believer in flying saucers. As the days and weeks went by, however, Lazar came to the conclusion that the craft must have been extraterrestrial in origin. Its technology was far too advanced to have been of human design, and, furthermore, its seats were far too small to accommodate human adults. They were child-sized, he said.

While at S-4 on another occasion, Lazar was taken into an office and shown weighty briefing documents, which he was told to study. They described how aliens from Zeta Reticuli—the classic big-eyed Grays—had been interacting with humanity for at least 10,000 years. Literally everything Lazar read in the documents regarding human history, alien biology, and political events supported the disinformative narrative that had been actively sown into the UFO community since the early-1980s by US intelligence operatives in the form the fraudulent MJ-12 documents and by the highly questionable testimony of Mirage Men with names like “Falcon” and “Condor.”

The question is: why was Lazar, who was supposedly employed strictly on a need-to-know basis as a physicist with one very specific technical task, given access to top secret documentation which had literally no bearing on that task? Perhaps the answer is that Lazar was being deliberately seeded with disinformation and was expected to later share it with the public.

The orchestrated nature of Lazar’s experience is also supported by one of his most bizarre recollections of his time at S-4, in which he set eyes on an alien entity working quite literally side-by-side with human scientists. At least, that is what he was meant to believe he saw. Lazar claims that, on the night in question, he was being escorted down a hallway by armed security personnel who had instructed him to keep his eyes forward at all times. With this instruction in mind, as they passed a doorway, naturally Lazar glanced to one side. His peripheral vision detected what he thought in that moment was one of the Gray aliens he had read about in the briefing documents. The small figure was stood between two men in lab coats. The three of them were looking at a computer console, and the “alien” had its back to the door. Lazar’s glimpse was so fleeting that no fine details were distinguishable. He was then pushed further along the corridor by one of the guards who instructed him once again to keep his eyes forward. Lazar himself has always been open to the possibility that this incident was staged specifically for him using a doll or a dummy and has speculated that someone may have been playing mind games with him.

Most of the events described above are featured in Corbell’s documentary in the form of archive news footage of Lazar and in on-camera testimony of the UFO icon as he appears today, working in his lab or at home with his wife. We also get some input from his friends, family, and colleagues, all of whom fully support his story. As the reporter who introduced Area 51 to the world, George Knapp features prominently in Corbell’s film, again both in the form of archive footage and speaking from his home in the present day or as a disembodied voice on Corbell’s speaker-phone. Hollywood legend Micky Rourke is billed as narrating the documentary, but his contributions amount to little more than sporadic, largely unintelligible mumblings about the nature of truth and the universe which threaten seriously to derail Corbell’s narrative whenever it finds time to settle into a groove—which isn’t very often.

From the get go, and throughout, Corbell’s film is mired by an intrusive and over-produced electronic soundbed of pulsating intensity. It’s almost relentless, and it serves only to distract from the story itself, which is more than sufficiently compelling to be presented without whistles and bells.

For those already well-read on the Lazar case, Bob Lazar will offer few surprises, but it is fascinating nonetheless to spend time with the man thirty years on from when he rocked the world. Corbell succeeds in showing us Lazar—the man and the legend—up close and personal, revealing, ironically, a pretty down-to-earth guy who has tried his best to get on with his life as a scientist and business man, as removed as possible from the maddening world of UFOlogy. For better or for worse, he has chosen to be a largely-silent spectator to the formation of his own myth.

The film does present some circumstantial corroborative evidence for Lazar’s claims. One scene sees Corbell presenting Lazar with photographs he has acquired of the high-tech hand-scanners used at Area 51. Lazar had always maintained that these devices were used during his time at S-4, but when he described them in the late-1980s, they sounded like science-fiction. Apparently not. The look on Lazar’s face as he examines the photos is one of obvious familiarity with what he’s seeing, and his sense of vindication is palpable.

One of the most interesting and dramatic scenes see Lazar and his colleagues describing a disturbing raid on his home during the production of Corbell’s film by a parade of government agencies in search of… something (I will avoid spoilers here). On the face of it, these events add some support to the notion that Lazar is of considerable interest to the US national security apparatus—and all that that implies. Yet, frustratingly, Corbell makes little of this in his documentary. By the time the credits roll, this crucial scene is almost forgotten.

Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers makes for entertaining and thought-provoking viewing, but what’s missing is any real sense of the political and UFOlogical climate in which Lazar’s story originally came to light—we get the “what” but we don’t get the “why.” Given the recent revelations of the Pentagon concerning UFOs, which are tied in with the efforts of self-styled Disclosure hero Tom DeLonge, understanding the motivations behind UFO disinformation efforts is today more important than ever, but Corbell’s Lazar story is presented in a cultural and political vacuum, dampening its potential relevance and impact.

On November 11, 2018, a strange sort of wave circumnavigated the globe and registered on sensors more than 11,000 miles away from what was believed to be its source. These waves emanated from the Northeast corner of Madagascar and continued for nearly 20 minutes, ringing slowly and at a low-frequency as far away as Hawaii and New Zealand. The cause of these waves are still being theorized and investigated by scientists, but the strange wave was caught by a Twitter user, with the handle @matarikipax, according to a report from National Geographic. Many seismologists said they had never seen anything quite like it in response to the Twitter user’s find.

So, why were these waves so strange? During most earthquakes, there are fast-moving waves, which cause the initial rumble of the quake. Secondary waves follow, moving from side-to-side, the article states. This particular seismic occurrence, however, seemed to contain mostly the tertiary waves of earthquakes, which are described as slow, lengthy surface waves. Because of its similarity to these, the strange rumbling of the earth was not physically felt and reported by anyone.

These waves were specifically pinpointed nearest to the French island of Mayotte. The island has been experiencing something of an earthquake swarm relating to possible undersea volcanic activity since May. The largest of these events was reported to be around 5.8 on the Richter Scale. These swarms have slowed a bit in recent years, and the report in National Geographic said none of the events have been similar to the one recorded on Nov. 11.

To get to the bottom of the incident, the French Geological Survey (BRGM) is investigating possible new volcanic activity on the seafloor near the island. Mayotte was created by volcanism, but such activity has not been ongoing in that area for more than 4,000 years, geologists believe. The earlier earthquake swarms, though, could indicate a new magma pocket is opening in the earth’s crust beneath the waves just offshore of the island.

When magma pushes toward the top of the earth, new crust is formed by its cooling. Islands such as Mayotte and the Hawaiian Islands are formed by new crust being created from magma being squeezed to the surface by plate tectonics. This occurs constantly around the world, and it appears recent earthquake swarms and this recent mysterious wave were created by these processes.

During those processes, rare occurrences, known colloquially by geologists as “slow earthquakes” can occur. Slow earthquakes release the same amount of pressure as normal earthquakes, but over a longer period of time. This could explain why the waves were not felt by anyone, but registered on sensors across the globe for at least 20 minutes. If this were proven to be such an instance, this release would have been equivalent to about a five on the Richter Scale. Similar quakes occurred during the collapse of a magma chamber in 2009 at the Nyiragongo Volcano in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Partially cloaked Triangle UFOs caught over Melbourne, Florida and the Netherlands

Last week, the same type of a triangle-shaped UFO has been caught on camera over Melbourne, Florida and the Netherlands.

Despite that both UFOs are partially cloaked, the upper part of the hull is still visible between the clouds.

The question is "What are these things and what they are doing in our skies?"

These objects are UFOs controlled by an intelligent alien race? Or more likely, we are looking at the next generation man-made triangle craft.

It is quite possible that both craft are updated versions of the TR-3B which is part of a reverse-engineering black project.

Giant Angelic UFO Caught On NASA Images Heading To Our Sun, Dec 2, 2018, UFO Sighting News.

This angelic like UFO has been recorded a dozen times over the last 5 years. Often heading into the sun or out of the sun, probably harvesting an energy source that us humans have yet to discover. The UFO has a lot of right angles to it. I only added a bit of contrast and the edges showed up clear. I'm a little bewildered at how NASA could keep such giant ships a secret from the public for so long? I mean its huge! Probably tens of miles across and travels so fast that the cameras only caught it in a single photo, then it was gone a few minutes later. When ever we see this angelic UFO it usually has a few round smaller UFOs following its tail just as it does today.

Ancient Black Structures And Sphinx Found On Asteroid Bennu In NASA Photos, Dec 2018, UFO Sighting News.

As I have said before, I have found alien structures on every meteor, asteroid, moon and planet in our solar system using NASA, ESA and JAXA photos of the surfaces of those objects. 

 

I found many non reflective black structures on asteroid Bennu today. The most significant of all is a sphinx black structure with a long tail, but its curled in an oval like a dog...can you see the huge face of the sphinx in the photo below? Well, thats a whole building. Thats how they make them. 

 

There are three main kinds of structures...the other types are rare but I have found many rares. 

The three main types are: 

1. Non reflective black structures...they are the biggest and most common. 

2. White ceramic-like structures...they are smaller, not usually close to the black structures and so reflective that getting a focused photo of them is very hard to find. 

3. Small silver metallic structures. Sometimes they are found alone, but often they would be around the big black structures connected with metallic tubes to the black structures. These are only 1-3% the size of the black structures. 

 

Rare structures I have found: 

1: Glass pyramid structure...impossible to take a good screenshot of it.

2. Actually found a eight sided very flat 24k gold structure in high detail. Only found one...but computer got viruses few days later and lost entire computer. Black screen virus. 

3. Emerald dome...only found one, but its huge! 

 

So you see, they are everywhere in our solar system. They were here billions of years before us, and will be here billions of years after us.

GAAT DE AARDE RICHTING POLESHIFT ? ( VIDEO )

De mysterieuze seismische golf van vorige week heeft heel wat mensen de nodige schrik bezorgd en een echte oorzaak is er formeel nog steeds niet. 

Aangezien men toch wat moet zeggen is officieel de keuze gevallen op een onderwater vulkaan als oorzaak voor dit vreemde fenomeen, maar uiteraard is het wat anders.

Hoe vaak komt het voor dat de complete aarde wordt opgeschrikt door seismische trillingen, terwijl er geen duidelijke/bekende oorzaak aan ten grondslag ligt.

Even terug naar eerdere berichten: 

Meetstations van bevingen in de Indische Oceaan pikten drie weken geleden een signaal op van seismische golven die vanaf Madagaskar tot aan Chili, Nieuw-Zeeland en Canada reikten. Wetenschappers gissen naar de oorzaak van de seismische activiteit, meldt The Daily Mail. Het centrum van de mysterieuze activiteit ligt voor de kust van het eiland Mayotte, naast Madagaskar.

Om duidelijk te zien hoe ver die seismische golf ging, hierna nog eens een plaatje.

Zoals gezegd, probeert men dit vast te pinnen op een onderwatervulkaan, maar hoe bijzonder dit is, blijkt wel uit de woorden van een wetenschapper van de Universiteit van Plymouth in Engeland, Jamie Gurney, die zegt geen flauw idee te hebben of zoiets ooit eerder is voor gekomen. Kortom, een unieke gebeurtenis en geen verklaring.

De man die zich bezighoudt met de komende mini ijstijd, Adept 2030, denkt dat dit alles een gevolg is van de sterk verminderde activiteit van de zon. Er zijn geen zonnevlekken op dit moment en de komende zonnecyclus belooft een ultra lage te worden, met nauwelijks zonneactiviteit en een heel koude periode die gaat komen. Het is inderdaad een wetenschappelijk feit dat bij een hele lage zonnecyclus, de kans op aardbevingen en vulkaanuitbarstingen groter is dan normaal. 

De bekende Youtugebruiker Mr. MBB333, houdt zich ook met dit vraagstuk bezig en ontdekt dat er in de laatste week van november uitzonderlijk veel aardbevingen zijn die zich voordoen op een diepte van tien kilometer, waaronder de recente aardbeving in Alaska die de grond letterlijk uit elkaar deed scheuren.

Afgezien van de aardbeving in Alaska vonder er in de laatste week van november wereldwijd aardbevingen plaats, bijna allemaal op een diepte van 6,2 mijl oftewel 10 kilometer.

Mr. MBB333 denkt dan ook dat de vreemde seismische golf haar oorsprong vindt op een diepte van 10 kilometer.

Een lezer die de bijbel leest, denkt dat het allemaal nog veel erger gaat worden:

Als we Jesaja hfdstk 24 lezen, lijkt het alsof God een vreemde planeet zal gebruiken in de laatste uren, die in een baan in de buurt van de aarde terechtkomt en de aarde aan het wankelen brengt:

HerzSt (Jesaja 24: 17-20) 17 Angst, valkuil en strik over u, bewoners van de aarde! 18 En het zal gebeuren dat wie vlucht voor het beangstigende geluid, neervallen zal in de valkuil; en wie opklimt uit het midden van de valkuil, gevangen zal worden in de strik. Want de sluizen in de hoogte worden geopend en de fundamenten van de aarde zullen beven. 19 Scheuren, openscheuren zal de aarde, splijten, opensplijten zal de aarde, vervaarlijk wankelen zal de aarde, 20 hevig waggelen zal de aarde, als een dronkaard. Zij zal heen en weer slingeren als een nachthutje, haar overtreding zal zwaar op haar drukken, zij zal neervallen en niet meer opstaan.

Terug naar Mr. MBB333 die constateert dat er in de honderden naschokken die zich voor deden in Alaska een bepaald patroon te ontdekken is. De naschokken gaan als het ware in een rechte lijn richting noordpool. Er deden zich maar liefst 580 fikse naschokken voor die allemaal het patroon volgden.

Hij ontdekt nog iets bijzonders naar aanleiding van de aardbeving in Alaska. De energie van een dergelijke beving verspreidt zich vanuit het epicentrum van de aardbeving verder over de wereld en de seismografen op diverse locaties pikken dan ook de energie van de beving op. Echter, het vreemde is dat de seismografen op Antarctica een veel hogere energie laten zien dan de seismografen in bijvoorbeeld Oregon, wat in feite net om de hoek ligt, vergeleken met Antarctica. Misschien is het gerelateerd aan de vreemde energiebron op Antarctica waarover wij eerder schreven.

Aangezien Mr. MBB333 ook niet weet waarom de seismografen op de zuidpool zover uitslaan bij een aardbeving aan de andere kant, bij Alaska, speculeert hij dat dit mogelijk wel het begin zou kunnen zijn van de pole shift.

TEST POETIN GEHEIME RUIMTEWAPENS? ( VIDEO )

Langzaam maar zeker wordt het terrein waar volgende oorlogen zullen worden uitgevochten verplaatst naar de ruimte. 

In het geheim worden er allerlei supersonische ruimtewapens ontwikkeld en misschien zijn er per ongeluk beelden opgedoken van een test met dergelijke wapens.

De vuurbol werd waargenomen door talloze automobilisten via hun dashcam. Eén van de redenen dat er wordt gespeculeerd over de vuurbol en dat het misschien geheime supersonische (ruimte)wapens zijn, is omdat de vuurbol werd waargenomen boven Akademgorodok. Deze stad is een soort wetenschappelijk ontwikkelingscentrum met diverse instituten die bekendstaan onder de naam "Poetins geheime wapen".

Volgens de officiële berichten is het een meteoriet, maar er doen ook andere geruchten de ronde en dat is dat we hier getuige zijn van het testen van geheime Russische ruimtewapens.

Tijdens nader onderzoek werden er ook geen restanten, van wat dan ook, aangetroffen op de grond en uiteraard zijn er ook de nodige mensen die denken dat het hier een ufo betreft.

In augustus dit jaar schreven wij het volgende over Russische ruimtewapens: 

Daarnaast vindt er nu nog een interessante ontwikkeling plaats en dat is dat Amerika nu ook begint met het demoniseren van Rusland in de ruimte. Zo komt er via de BBC een bericht naar buiten over een eind vorig jaar gelanceerde Russische raket die zich heel vreemd en hoogst verdacht zou hebben gedragen. Tijdens een persconferentie van het Amerikaanse Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Zwitserland op 14 augustus jongstleden werd dit bekendgemaakt. Omdat deze satelliet zich klaarblijkelijk anders gedraagt dan normaal gesproken het geval is, zeiden de Amerikanen dat ze vermoeden hier te maken te hebben met een nieuw wapen. Rusland reageerde onmiddellijk fel door te zeggen dat dit alles ongefundeerd is en bovendien een erg lasterlijke beschuldiging.

Ongeveer tegelijkertijd met de Russische vuurbol valt er iets vergelijkbaars te zien in Hongarije:

Ook daar zien we een lang spoor in de lucht, maar ook duidelijk een soort object aan het uiteinde van dat spoor. Het lijkt meer op een raket dan op een meteoriet.

Voor zover ons bekend is er tot op dit moment ook voor dat object geen andere verklaring dan: een meteoriet.

Als Poetin inderdaad bezig is met het testen van ruimtewapens boven Siberië, dan lijkt het niet echt waarschijnlijk dat hij dit ook boven Hongarije zou doen. Dus, vooralsnog meer vragen dan antwoorden voor wat betreft de vreemde vuurbollen.

Eight limestone coffins were discovered in the area of King Amenemhat II’s pyramid that is located in the Dahshur royal necropolis which is 25 miles south of Cairo, Egypt. While it’s not entirely clear exactly when and how long Amenemhat II ruled Egypt, it is believed that his reign lasted for around 30 years around 1900 B.C.

Several other high-ranking officials and courtiers are buried in the necropolis. This area is also the location of some of the earliest pyramids on Earth, which includes the Red Pyramid and the Sneferu’s Bent Pyramid.

According to the Egyptian archaeological mission’s manager and Head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziry, the mission began their work in August of 2018. The mummies were inside of limestone coffins and were wrapped in a layer of colorful painted cardboard in the shape of a human. Waziry said that three of the eight mummies were in good condition and that they were from the late period of 664 to 332 B.C.

Waziry also mentioned that the coffins were transported to a restoration warehouse and that the Ministry of Antiquities would show photographs of the sarcophagus at a local museum.

The Minister of Antiquities, Khaled el-Anany, said that another recent discovery happened on November 24^th when Mut Temple’s Tomb was found. An archaeological mission that’s connected to the French University of Strasbourg discovered the sarcophagus in the same general area as tomb TT33 which is located in the West Bank of Luxor.

The sarcophagus, which is from the 18^th dynasty, contains a mummy that is wrapped in linen. After researchers examined the mummy for the first time, it was determined that it was re-wrapped in linen during the late period which would explain why it was in such good condition.

Another mysterious discovery was found in the city of Alexandria when experts found an ancient “cursed” black granite sarcophagus. Inside of the huge coffin were the remains of three skeletons along with gold sheets.
