One of the weirdest alien abduction accounts there is began in the early morning hours of April 6, 1974, in the remote farming town of Kitami, in Hokkaido, Japan. On this dark morning, a farmer by the name of Yoshihiro Fujiwara was sound asleep in his bed when he was pulled from his dreams by the sudden pounding of someone at his door and his dog barking and howling outside. Considering his was a fairly isolated farmstead in the middle of nowhere, it was odd indeed to get visitors at 3 in the morning, and the rather annoyed Fujiwara at first thought it was merely some kids messing around. There would have been no reason in this safe little hamlet to think it was anything else, and he trudged to the door to fling it upon to a sight that would change him forevermore. And so would begin one of the most flat-out bizarre and controversial alien encounter reports that Japan has ever seen.

There standing in the chilly early morning darkness was a diminutive, 3-foot-tall high being dressed in a clear one-piece suit that seemed to be made of transparent vinyl, and the thing itself was only passingly humanoid, resembling what the witness would later call a combination of “starfish and human,” with four tentacle-like appendages, a bulbous head reminiscent of an octopus clad in a blue helmet, slanted eyes, and a strange V-shaped set of nostrils, the whole of it covered with mottled brown and slimy, bumpy toad-like skin and rested on two of its stalk-like limbs and rounded nubs for feet. It was completely silent and motionless, except for its weird conical helmet had antenna jutting from it, which generated a visible electrical humming charge that ominously rippled through the air.

 

The startled farmer and this anomalous being stood there for several moments merely staring at each other, perhaps each as surprised as the other, before that strange frozen moment in time was shattered by a sudden movement from the creature as it flicked one of its tendrils to point up towards the sky. This was followed by a ray of blinding light that washed over everything, generating a profound heat that sent the frightened farmer reeling back into his house to slam the door shut. A quick look outside showed that the brilliant orange colored light was emanating from an illuminated disc-like craft that measured around 26 feet across and was apparently shooting off beams of orange light.

If Fujiwara thought he was safe merely gawking from his window at this outlandish sight he was wrong, as he suddenly felt his feet being pulled forward by some inexplicable force. At first he was merely dragged across the floor, much to his amazement, but then he allegedly began to hover, before finally being levitated fully off the ground to go flying out of the window and towards the inscrutable floating disc with its scintillating beams of light. He was drawn faster and faster towards the object, seemingly on a collision course, but rather than smack against its metallic side he found himself being drawn through its walls to be dumped upon the floor of the craft.

The interior of the craft was described as being bright blue, with some sort of writing on the walls that the farmer could not fathom and the whole of it all overlaid with a repulsive stink that made him feel lightheaded. It was then that two creatures identical to the one who had freaked him out at his doorstep approached him to tell him telepathically, “No danger. We promise to release you at your home.” As peaceful as this sounded, the two entities nevertheless made to grab him and forcefully hold him down, upon which Fujiwara felt the fear left him and his survival instinct take over, tearing away and dashing through an open hatchway to go careening through air to the ground below, which luckily for him was only around 10 feet down.

Fujiwara vaguely recognized that he was around 2 miles from where he had left, and went running wildly towards the house of a person he knew in the area, who let him in. It was at their house that he would realize that a full hour had passed, even though to him it seemed that it had been mere moments since he had been taken aboard the strange craft by its odd octopoid inhabitants. Although the experience had been baffling and not a little terrifying, Fujiwara was at least relieved that it was over, and he quietly went back to his home to try and find some way to get over what had just occurred. Little did he know at the time that it was not quite over just yet.

The very next evening, Fujiwara was sitting alone in his house, his thoughts no doubt wandering back to those strange tentacled dwarves and their otherworldly craft, when he was suddenly overcome with a sharp pain worming its way through his ears and fingertips. He felt himself slipping into a daze, and for some reason his hands took on a life of their own and began to scrawl strange letters onto a piece of paper of their own volition. This was all followed by a voice that reverberated through his skull, which commanded him, “When the disc lands on the mountain you will come and board by yourself,” which was accompanied by a potent vision of the area they wished him to come to, left blazing into his mind. After that the pain abruptly left, leaving Fujiwara there shaken and with bizarre hieroglyphics etched onto paper by his hand but the meanings of which he did not know.

The farmer took the voice’s command as being the nearby Nikoro Mountain, and although he was still frightened by his ordeal he felt a compulsion to go there to see what would happen. To this end, he gathered up some supplies and two companions to join him and they set out, unsure of what awaited them up on that lonely peak. Fujiwara apparently then made his way alone to the area he had seen in his vision, where there awaited that same luminous disc-shaped craft and he boarded it without a fight. Once aboard, the aliens then supposedly took him on a flight into space, flying around the moon and around the earth twice, all within about the space of an hour. When they returned from their dizzying journey the farmer then lost consciousness, after which he was apparently just left lying there on the mountainside for his friends to find.

This wasn’t even the end of it all, as Fujiwara would claim that the last trip had left him with strange telekinetic powers that allowed him to move objects and bend spoons, and he was telepathically invited on yet another excursion on April 13, 1974. This time the bizarre beings took him on a journey that went around the planet Jupiter, as well as the moon of Saturn, Titan, where one of the creatures would allegedly go out to retrieve a rock from the surface as a souvenir for him to keep.

This mysterious rock would go on to prove to be rather controversial, indeed. It was sent to scientists for analysis, but came back as just one of the many common rocks from a Kitami cave, which brought a fair amount of ridicule down on Fujiwara and his astounding tale. In the meantime, the farmer would begin to address himself as the earthly representative of the “Summon Call Space Union,” and he claimed that his telepathic powers increased exponentially, allowing him to levitate objects, predict catastrophes, and even teleport across vast distances, of which he would say:

I can teleport to a star 250 million light years away in 6 minutes. My role is delaying natural disasters such as earthquakes and eruptions.

He would also claim that he could actually travel within the earth to stop volcanic eruptions, and pull together tectonic plates to prevent earthquakes. It is all totally bizarre to say the least, but one Japanese UFO researcher named Ninichi Arai has offered evidence that there was something to this when he found that several other locals who did not know Fujiwara also reported seeing strange lights in the skies during the same time frame, and there were others who claimed to have been first hand witnesses to the farmer’s mental powers, somewhat corroborating his weird tales. Was this all the doing of entities from another world or merely the tripping of balls? Is there anything to this account or is Fujiwara a a disturbed individual and unreliable witness? It is hard to know for sure, but it is a wild ride all the same, and goes to show that alien abduction accounts can be truly surreal affairs to be sure.

Chinese news agency Xinhua confirmed this news, and they revealed that the space probe is moving into a perfect position to land on the far side of the moon for the first time ever in human history.

It should be noted that the moon is tidally locked to the earth and as a result, it is rotating at the same rate that it orbits our planet. Due to this, the dark side of the moon will be never visible from the earth, and the mystery behind this unknown face of the moon is still unknown. Several previous lunar probes have seen the dark side of the moon, but none of them had landed on this surface.

So, what makes this lunar mission so special? Let us check out...

First extraterrestrials to be grown

Experts believe that the Chang'e-4 probe to the dark side of the moon will result in the birth of the first extraterrestrials. This lunar probe is carrying seeds and insect eggs to the moon, and experts hope to develop these seeds to living creatures in another celestial body outside earth.

The Chang'e-4 mission will also analyze the chemical composition of rocks on the dark side of the moon. Scientists also plan to investigate the solar corona and analyze its radiation characteristics and mechanism from the moon's far side.

Extraterrestrial aliens awaiting humans?

Even though NASA has suggested the presence of deep craters on the dark side of the moon, several conspiracy theorists believe that extraterrestrial aliens are secretly living in this area. These conspiracy theorists argue that aliens have also created a secret military base on this side, and Chang'e-4's landing in this area could bring about dire consequences.

As per conspiracy theorists, the landing of Chang'e-4 in the alien territory may result in an invasion, which may impact the entire fate of humankind. Earlier, Karl Wolfe, a top technician at the Air Force Tactical Air Command headquarters in Langley, Virginia had claimed that he had spotted artificial structures on the moon's far side. The technician revealed that he made this discovery after analyzing the date from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

The planned landing site of Chang'e-4 mission is the Von Kármán crater, located in the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the Moon.   • The Space Force plan pits Trump against his natural enemy: the “Deep State”. The Deep State faction within the federal government is the keeper of alien secrets, according to UFO researchers.
  
  • “This is HUGE and [Space Force is] something the Deep State does NOT want,” conspiracy theory filmmaker Jordan Sather posted on Twitter. “Understand that with the Space Force, the advanced technologies (free energy, antigravity) kept in secret think-tanks within Lockheed, Boeing, & other corporate contractors will now have an avenue to be released publicly,” Mr. Sather tweeted.

The Pentagon prefers to keep space operations within the Air Force.

A draft of the Pentagon-backed legislation to establish the Space Force would organize it under the Air Force, similar to the way the Marines are organized under the Navy, according to a report by Defense News.

The president alone cannot create a military branch. It takes an act of Congress, though Mr. Trump has initiated the process.

Mr. Trump last week signed an order that established a Space Command to oversee the military’s vast operations beyond the Earth’s atmosphere.

The timing of Mr. Trump’s original Space Force announcement added to the conspiracy fervor. It came on the heels of a New York Times report that revealed a secret Defense Department program that for at least five years investigated UFOs. The program allegedly shut down in 2012, but officials said they continue to investigate UFO episodes.

There is also abundant evidence that the Pentagon has top-secret operations in space, such as spy satellites.

Jan C. Harzan, executive director of the Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, which has been investigating UFO sightings since 1969, noted the Air Force’s unmanned X-37B space plane.

“It’s been up there two years at a time doing classified missions,” he said in an interview with The Washington Times.

The X-37B, basically a space drone that resembles a small version of NASA’s retired space shuttles, has flown clandestine missions in Earth orbit since 2010.

“I don’t really think [the Space Force] has anything to do with extraterrestrials or aliens. I know people are thinking it does,” said Mr. Harzan. “My personal opinion is that it is just that all the pieces of our military are doing the same thing and there is probably some benefit of putting it all under one head.”

Mr. Harzan doubted the government was getting closer to “full disclosure” of what he believes the government hides about aliens.

“I do believe that we have technology which has been reverse-engineered from aircraft that are not from here and that we are probably using that technology someplace. But are we trolling out amongst the stars like ‘Star Trek’ or something else? I don’t know that it has gotten that far,” he said.

A massive landfall in eastern Russia was caused by a meteorite, a falling UFO or a massive bomb, it was claimed today.

First pictures from a remote location in Khabarovsk region show how the 390 mile long Bureya River was partially dammed by a monumental rock fall.

The top was severed from a large hill with rocks crashing down and forming a new 525 ft-high mound in the river bed.

Hunter Anton Ivanov found the dramatically changed landscape in the remote spot on 14 December - but the footage has only been revealed now

There are reports of patches of 'hot rocks' and sightings of 'extraterrestrial meteorite fragments'.

Alexey Maslov, the head of Verkhnebureinsky district, said after witnessing the newly formed hill: 'We are trying to find the explanation for this incident. I insist that it was a meteorite.'

He was backed by Dr Evgeny Zubko, a cosmic dust expert from the School of Natural Sciences at the Far Eastern Federal University, who said local residents had noted 'a blast wave'.

'Whether it will be possible to find the fragments of a meteorite depends on the parameters of the fall - and good luck.'

However Maslov also claimed it could be 'an explosion, a bomb, or a falling plane.'

Yet there were no reports of military missiles that went astray here, let alone plane crashes, or Russian bomb tests.

'The riverbed is blocked by a bulk' up to 2,624 ft wide, said Maslov.

The height looms from 262 to 525 ft above the river level.

'There is no radiation,' he said.

But he believed 'an object entered at a sharp angle, pulled down the mound - and spread it along the river bed.'

Those who have seen the carnage insisted 'it cannot be man-made', he said.

One eyewitness said: 'They either started some major building site or a UFO collapsed here.'

'There is lots of earth, thousands of tons.

'It can be seen that something flew here, touched the top of the hill and landed in the water.…

'It smells like hydrogen sulphide and vapour comes out in some places.

'We even found a spot on the very top where there are warm stones, we used them to keep our hands warm.

'It looks like it was very hot there.

'The ice edges are slim as if they were in boiling water.'

Other theories include a landslide caused by an earthquake.

Aleksei Makhinov, regional chairman of the Russian Geographic Society, said: 'The cause of the landslide could have been an earthquake,' he said.

'A meteorite could have been the reason too but it is unlikely.'

Boris Shustov, head of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said no sizeable meteorite capable of wreaking such havoc had been registered penetrating the earth's atmosphere.

The Bureyskaya hydro power station reservoir downstream is receiving less water.

And there are warnings of flooding for villages upstream because of the partial blockage of the river.

Mystery event that saw mountain crash into river 'may have been UFO attack'

A MYSTERIOUS “blitzkrieg” which led to the side of a mountain crashing into a Siberian river was either a UFO attack or a giant meteorite strike, according to a majority of Russians.

The claims about the incident – known as the Bureya Bliztkrieg – come amid a new report which said a “reliable” witness saw a “huge green-coloured body with a very long tail” streaking vertically downwards in the night sky on December 15.

The bizarre event, which took place last month, is under Russian scientific scrutiny after the water flow into a hydro-electric power reservoir was cut due to a massive landfall, creating a 525ft mound which was visible from space rising from the bed of Bureya River in the far east of Russia.

Listen to the Sound of Mars: NASA Reveals Audio Recorded by Insight from Martian Surface

Humans have never before heard the sound of wind on Mars until now!

We’ve seen countless images of Mars taken throughout the years. And while I must admit that personally, I find Mars a beautiful planet, I have always wondered what the sound of Mars is.

Imagine yourself standing on the Martian surface, being able to breathe, survie, and hear the wind. The noise. Mars is alive.

And now, NASA’s InSight lander, which recently touched down on the Martian surface has given us another opportunity to fall in love with the red planet.

The lander has managed to record the sound of a Martian ‘dust devil’ during its first working days on the red planet’s surface.

According to the space agency, this is the first time ever we actually heard what Martian winds sound like.

The sensors onboard the InSight lander detected winds blowing between 10 to 15 mph, coming from northwest to southeast. The best part? The recording is in the range of human hearing, which means that for the first time ever, we can hear what Mars sounds like.

InSight recorded the audio on December 1. NASA explains that the vibrations were picked up at a very low pitch, although the sound can still be heard.

But to make it clearer, NASA decided to boost the pitch by two octaves, which allows you to hear the Martian wind on your mobile phone, tablet or computer.

NASA’s newest Martian lander detected wind vibrations using two of its sensors: one designed to specifically measure air pressure, and with a seismometer on the deck.

Bruce Banerdt, InSight principal investigator at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab said that while InSight didn’t set out to record Martian wind, its a nice addition to the mission.

“Capturing this audio was an unplanned treat,” he said. “But one of the things our mission is dedicated to is measuring motion on Mars, and naturally, that includes motion caused by sound waves.”

“Hearing the first sounds ever recorded on the surface of another planet is a privilege. We have a great team, and we’re doing incredible things every day at NASA,” NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine said.

On the cusp of yet another trip around the Sun, I found myself wondering how many alien civilizations within this sector of our Milky Way might have already come and gone? That is, bitten the dust due to wholly natural climate change long after their planet had sung its last Auld Lang Syne?

As stars age, their luminosity increases over billions of years, causing their habitable zones --- the zones in which a terrestrial planet can have liquid water at its surface --- to expand outward. Thus, extraterrestrial intelligence that happened to evolve on planets at the inner edges of their solar systems’ habitable zones might initially blossom into technological civilizations. But as their star’s luminosity increases over time, their planet would suffer a hellish, climatological holocaust.

Why is this important?

In the next decade, we’ll be peering at spectra and sometimes images of extrasolar Venus-type planets that may or may not have harbored technological civilizations for a few thousand years at least, Stephen Kane, a planetary astrophysicist at the University of California --- Riverside, told me.

Would a putative alien civilization on a nearby, habitable exoVenus even be aware of such coming catastrophe?

Not necessarily, says Kane.

We are very fortunate to have a Venus in our solar system; essentially a planet the same size and mass as Earth, but at a much more advanced stage of planetary and atmospheric evolution than our own, says Kane.

“If we didn't have our Venus, some of my colleagues have said that then an advanced runaway greenhouse would have been extremely difficult to predict,” said Kane.

That’s because, as he points out, the physics to make such predictions are very advanced and, in fact, even today’s best atmosphere models have trouble accounting for Venus’ current state.

Even if an advanced civilization understood how stars evolve and that this evolution would have an adverse effect on their planet's oceans, says Kane, they might not understand the full implications of how environmentally-hostile their planet would become.

For exoplanets, thecurrent detection methods are more sensitive to planets close to their host stars, meaning that we're better at discovering Venus analogs than Earth analogs, says Kane. We, thus, expect to be discovering and characterizing many runaway greenhouse planets in the coming years, he says.

But some of these could have previously been habitable, says Kane.

Estimates range from 400 million to one billion for the duration of clement conditions on Venus.

Four hundred million years, or perhaps even one billion years of clement Venusian conditions are much too little for the evolution of a high-tech intelligent species, Dirk Schulze-Makuch, an astrobiologist at Germany’s Technical University Berlin, told me.

For Earth, intelligent life took roughly 4 billion years to evolve, says Kane. But he notes that there is a large range of stellar ages for the exoVenus host stars he and colleagues have discovered. And they lie mostly in the one to ten billion-year range. So, Kane thinks that many of these Venus-like planets will be more than 4 billion years old and could well have evolved intelligent life on them at some point.

ExoVenuses that were paired with lower mass stars would have had more time to play with before their parent stars robbed them of a habitable zone. That’s because as Kane points out, high-mass stars evolve very quickly and simply do not spend enough time on the hydrogen-burning main sequence. Thus, an exoVenus’ time in the habitable zone when orbiting a high-mass star should be relatively short-lived.

Venus has what is known as a "stagnant lid" surface, meaning that it's not broken up into plates like earth's surface but instead is mostly a solid surface ruptured by areas of volcanism, Kane explains. This means that Venus underwent a catastrophic resurfacing event about a billion years ago. This likely largely erased any record of its surface conditions.

“We can gain some insight from evidence in the atmosphere, particularly from isotopes that trace the presence of possible liquid water on the surface, said Kane. “But it is difficult to know for certain.”

This uncertainty, he says, has led to a lot of speculation regarding our own Venus’ past habitability, with some researchers contending that the planet may have had a temperate surface as recently as a billion years ago.

But the Sun’s increased luminosity soon caught up with our sister planet.

Would alien civilizations living on their own Venus-type planets be helpless in staving off this inevitable climate change? Or could they geo-engineer their way out of an eventual runaway greenhouse?

If so, Kane says it would need to be a coordinated planet-wide effort. He says this would entail not just extracting carbon dioxide (CO2) from a Venus-like atmosphere, but also storing it in a way that is sustainable.

Earth's own thermostat is sensitive to changes in temperature and CO2 levels and adjusts itself accordingly over million-year time scales, Kane explains. If geoengineering is used to compensate for breaking that delicate balance, he says then that civilization will have to take over to maintain the planet’s thermostatic cycle.

Any disruption to their geoengineering efforts would immediately cause the planet to return to its journey towards a runaway greenhouse. So, they would see it coming, Kane says. But he says by that stage it's probably much easier to leave the planet than manually take over its geological processes.

Kane’s hope is that once things get desperate, such threatened alien civilizations would be able to move to another suitable terrestrial planet a bit farther out from their parent star.

New Horizons Spacecraft Makes New Year's Day Flyby of Ultima Thule, the Farthest Rendezvous Ever

LAUREL, Md. — Wow, what a way to ring in the new year.

As the world celebrated the start of 2019, scientists with NASA's New Horizons spacecraft partied with them. But the bigger celebration came just over 30 minutes later, when New Horizons made history with the flyby of Ultima Thule, a mysterious object 4.1 billion miles (6.6 billion kilometers) from Earth in the Kuiper Belt, home to frozen relics left over from the birth of the solar system. It's the farthest flyby of an object in our solar system; and the second rendezvous for New Horizons, which visited Pluto in July 2015.

"We set a record! Never before has a spacecraft explored something so far away," New Horizons principal investigator Alan Stern, of the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in Boulder, Colorado, said after the flyby today (Jan. 1). "I mean, think of it. We're a billion miles further than Pluto, and now we're going to keep going into the Kuiper Belt.  [New Horizons at Ultima Thule: Full Coverage]

New Horizons flew by Ultima Thule at 12:33 a.m. EST (0533 GMT), hurtling past at a mind-boggling 32,000 mph (51,500 km/h) as it captured the first close-up views of a Kuiper Belt object. The cosmic rendezvous occurred so far from Earth, it'll took more than 6 hours for a signal from New Horizons to reach Earth. At about 10:30 a.m. EST, the first signal from New Horizons was received at its mission operations center here at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.

"We have a healthy spacecraft," said Alice Bowman, mission operations manager for New Horizons. "We've just accomplished the most distant flyby. We are ready for Ultima Thule science transmission."

And oh, the party. With news of signal confirmation, a standing ovation by mission team members and invited guests broke out in an auditorium here. And of course, there was the New Year's Eve bash.

"Nerding out on New Year's Eve"

To celebrate New Horizons' visit to Ultima Thule, the mission team threw an epic New Year's Eve party. Hundreds of guests — including science team members, dignitaries, reporters and their families — packed a meeting hall here to ring in 2019, and then cheer for the flyby. As Stern said, everyone was "nerding out at New Year's Eve."

"Are you psyched?" Stern asked the crowd as they cheered just seconds before the flyby. "Are you jazzed?"

Among those guests were Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas), actor Chase Masterson of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," as well as astrophysicist (and Queen lead guitarist) Brian May. May even debuted a new original song — the aptly named "New Horizons" — at midnight to celebrate.

"To me, it is the incredible newness of it," May, a New Horizons mission team member, told reporters before the flyby. "This is going way beyond where anyone has gone before, literally."

The celebration occurred in the midst of a partial government shutdown, which shuttered much of NASA's public outreach for the Ultima Thule flyby. But NASA and JHUAPL were able to stream live webcasts and photos of the flyby. Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA's associate administrator for science, even received special dispensation from NASA chief Jim Bridenstine to attend.

"I think it is fitting that this flyby of Ultima Thule is at the interface of the 60th anniversary of Explorer 1 [the first U.S. satellite] in 2018 and the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 in 2019," Zurbuchen said in an email that Stern read aloud Monday. "To me, this milestone for New Horizons is full of everything that NASA and NASA science is about."

Another NASA mission also hit a milestone on New Year's Eve. The space agency's sample-return probe OSIRIS-REx officially began orbiting its target asteroid Bennu on Monday (Dec. 31), making it a banner 24 hours for planetary science.

Voyage to the Kuiper Belt

It's been a long road to Ultima Thule for New Horizons.

NASA launched the $700 million nuclear-powered spacecraft in January 2006 on a mission originally aimed at Pluto. That mission was an astounding success, with New Horizons zipping by Pluto and its five moons on July 14, 2015, revealing the first-ever detailed photos of the dwarf planet (including its adorable heart).

But even before New Horizons reached Pluto (which itself is in the Kuiper Belt), mission scientists were looking to the next target. In 2014, mission scientist Marc Buie of SwRI discovered Ultima Thule (then known only by its official name, 2014 MU69) using the Hubble Space Telescope and a new destination was set. The key draw of Kuiper Belt objects is their primordial nature. They are time capsules, Stern said, preserving the earliest conditions of the solar system at temperatures near absolute zero.

"The object is in such a deep freeze that it's essentially preserved from its initial formation," he added. "Everything that we're going to learn about Ultima, from its composition to its geology to how it's assembled, are going to teach us about the original formation conditions of the solar system."

And scientists have a lot to learn. They've only managed to glean tantalizing clues about Ultima Thule since its discovery in 2014.

In Hubble telescope photos, Ultima Thule appears to have a reddish hue. Exactly why is unknown. Early observations suggested that it may actually be more than one object, a binary, but more recent images (including one taken on Saturday, Dec. 30) have hinted that this isn't so. Ultima Thule appears be a single object, mission scientists said.

"We know it's not round," said deputy project scientist John Spencer of SwRI before the flyby. Recent images show Ultima Thule as an elongated, oval-shaped object.

In fact, Ultima Thule may look like a bowling pin, with two lobes connected by a center mass. A photo taken by New Horizons on New Year's Eve just before closest approach clearly shows two lobes and an elongated shape, an improvement on Sunday's view, scientists said. 

But exactly how fast does it spin (estimates vary between 15 and 30 hours)? Does it have craters, or a smooth surface? Does it spout dust? Could it host moons or rings or something altogether unexpected?

"This is unknown exploration; anything is possible," Spencer said. "Anything is possible out here when you're exploring a new class of world that you haven't seen before."

Only a detailed analysis of New Horizons' images and other data from its seven instruments will tell the tale, scientists said.

"We are going to change what we know about the Kuiper Belt, literally overnight," Stern said.

Another flyby ahead?

It will take about 20 months for New Horizons to beam back all of its images and other observations of Ultima Thule. That's because it has just a small 15-watt transmitter to beam a vast amount of data home.

"I am in awe that we can even do this," Stern said. "The spacecraft has a 15-watt transmitter on it...that's a quarter of a light bulb. And we're receiving it from 4 billion miles away."

But the New Horizons team won't be idle during that time. Scientists are actively searching for a third Kuiper Belt object for New Horizons to potentially visit.

If that target is found soon, and if it gets funding approval from NASA, the team could get the green light for another flyby, in a year that will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, the first by astronauts.

"Fifty years ago, the first humans walked on another world, the moon, as a result of NASA," Stern said. "And NASA was the first space agency in the world to reach every planet in the solar system, from the closest planets — Venus and Mars — to the farthest, Pluto. And now we're out exploring even further."

NASA Plans to Send Hot Air Balloons to Detect Earthquakes on Venus

Since our neighboring planet Venus has a very hellish atmosphere, studying more about the planet’s internal composition has been a bit difficult. But NASA has new plans to study the planet’s seismic activities through hot air balloons.

Space agency NASA is planning to study Venus’ earthquakes and other internal activities with the help of hot air balloons embedded up special earthquake sensors.

Earlier this month, NASA researchers set off a 50-ton chemical explosion 984ft below the surface of the Mojave desert. This artificial earthquake let NASA test their special earthquake sensors that hung below the helium-filled balloons that floated hundreds of meters above the desert.

After studying Mars, NASA plans to send flying drones to Venus

NASA is hoping for a similar system for Venus to discover more about its internal structure. Balloons are chosen for this activity because landing up a rover in near to impossible due to Venus’ dense atmosphere of mostly carbon dioxide that is so hot that it could melt lead, with average temperature around 462°C. The outer atmosphere, however, is much cooler and more suitable for carrying out scientific experiments.

Though the planet’s atmosphere is thicker and hence easier to measure infrared waves, it also contains supersonic winds that can rapidly confuse the balloon’s finely tuned instruments. Yet, the scientists believe that these air balloons can measure Venusquakes (earthquakes on Venus) as slight as magnitude 2.

Meanwhile, NASA is also working on developing drones to send to Venus and study more about the planet, while being able to survive its hellish atmosphere.

Chinese sonde zou donderdag als eerste op de nog onbekende achterkant van de maan landen - HLN.be

Op 8 december lanceerde een Lange Mars-3B draagraket de Chang’e-4. Op 12 december is de sonde in een baan rondom de Wachter van de Aarde gekomen. Zondag is die gewijzigd in een elliptische baan met een dichtste punt op ongeveer 15 km en een hoogste punt op zowat 100 km hoogte, meldde het officiële persbureau Xinhua.

Die baan moet toelaten om als eerste door mensenhanden gebouwd tuig te landen op de “Dark Side of the Moon”, of de achterzijde van de Maan. Die zien we nooit en is bij wetenschappers ook nog niet zo bekend. De landing zou voor donderdag omstreeks 01.00 uur Belgische tijd gepland zijn.

Planetoïde Bennu is het kleinste object in de kosmos waar ooit een door mensenhanden gemaakt tuig rond heeft gedraaid. De sonde OSIRIS-REx kwam op 3 december na een reis van meer dan twee jaar en twee miljard kilometer aan bij Bennu, een object dat aan 100.000 kilometer op meer dan 110 miljoen kilometer van ons rond onze ster wentelt. De verkenner stabiliseerde zich toen op 7 kilometer van de asteroïde.

Nadat de één miljard dollar kostende Osiris-Rex zijn doelwit wekenlang nauwgezet had bestudeerd, kwamen de motoren gisteren om 20.43 uur acht seconden tot ontbranding om perfect in een baan rond de koolstofrijke Bennu te komen, aldus de NASA. 

Potentieel gevaar

Dat hemellichaam heeft een diameter van slechts 492 meter. In juli 2020 moet de sonde stalen nemen van de asteroïde. Die landen in een soort container in september 2023 in de Amerikaanse staat Utah.
Bennu geldt als een potentieel gevaarlijke asteroïde voor ons. Er is 1 kans op 2.800 dat het ding rond het jaar 2135 met ons in botsing komt.

Wetenschappers hopen dankzij de missie meer te leren over het ontstaan van ons zonnestelsel.

WAT ZAL HET NIEUWE JAAR BRENGEN?  ( VIDEO )

Ieder jaar weer spannend, zo’n sprong naar een spiksplinternieuw jaar waarin ongetwijfeld weer van alles gaat gebeuren. 

Zal er een moordaanslag worden gepleegd op Vladimir Poetin en Donald Trump ernstig ziek worden, zoals voorspeld door Baba Vanga?

Bij de aftrap van het nieuwe jaar wensen wij allereerst alle trouwe en niet trouwe lezers een gelukkig, voorspoedig en een heel gezond jaar toe. 

Wat het nieuwe jaar zal brengen is altijd koffiedik kijken en sommigen zijn daar in beter dan anderen. Een aantal dingen zou je kunnen voorspellen door logica te gebruiken, maar de echte zieners gebruiken andere bronnen om te voorspellen wat er gaat komen. 

Eén van die echte zieners is Baba Vanga die als bijnaam heeft Nostradamus van de Balkan. 

Baba Vanga is ongeveer 100 jaar geleden geboren en in 1996 overleden, was volkomen blind en een fiks deel van haar voorspellingen zijn uitgekomen. 

Enkele voorbeelden daarvan zijn 9/11, de tsunami in Azië in 2004, klimaatopwarming en de opkomst van ISIS. 

Onderzoekers die zich bezighouden met de voorspellingen en deze proberen te plaatsen in de context van wat er in de wereld gebeurt, menen te kunnen vaststellen dat Baba Vanga het komende jaar als zeer turbulent voorspelt. 

Een jaar waarin zij zegt dat de Old World Order zal verdwijnen en wordt vervangen door een andere World Order.  De waarschuwing die erbij komt is dat dit dan wel klinkt als goed nieuws, maar dat een dergelijke overgang gepaard zal gaan met een diepe crisis waarbij wereldwijd mensen mogelijk hun spaargeld zullen verliezen en waarbij werk en een baan niet meer de normaalste zaak van de wereld zijn. Het jaar 2019 zal worden gekenmerkt als het jaar van grote gebeurtenissen die het wereldtoneel zullen veranderen. 

Niet alleen op het wereldtoneel zal het een spectaculair jaar worden, ook op het gebied van de natuur. Volgens Vanga is de aarde “moe” en zal heftig reageren in de vorm van ontelbare (grote) natuurrampen. Veel mensen op aarde zullen lijden en opmerkelijk is dat zij waarschuwt dat het grote gevaar uit de hemel/lucht zal komen. Dit wordt dan al snel uitgelegd als een mogelijke asteroïde, maar het zou uiteraard ook heel goed de onbekende planeet Nibiru kunnen zijn die zich dan in het nieuwe jaar veel meer zal laten gelden. 

Kortom, ze voorspelt dat 2019 een “doom and gloom” jaar zal worden, waar eigenlijk heel weinig goed nieuws voor de mensheid is te ontdekken. 

Dat had volgens een Engelse krant tot gevolg dat sommige mensen in hun commentaren op sociale media weigerden om dit alles te geloven, omdat ze vinden dat Baba Vanga goed nieuws had moeten voorspellen en omdat dit niet is gebeurd, zijn de voorspellingen volgens hen waardeloos. 

Writing on Facebook, one person said: "Could she not predict something nice to happen to this world." A furious Facebook user wrote: "First of all that's all garbage! No one can predict the future!" 

Het schijnt trouwens dat Baba Vanga het zinken van de onderzeeër Koersk ook correct heeft voorspeld. 

Maar, er is nog meer schokkend nieuws, want zo zal er in 2019 een moordaanslag worden gepleegd op Vladimir Poetin. Een aanslag die afkomstig zal zijn uit de gelederen van zijn eigen beveiliging. Het lijkt niet dat de aanslag succesvol zal zijn, want er wordt niet gezegd dat hij het niet zal overleven. 

Ook voor de Amerikaanse president Donald Trump ziet het nieuwe jaar er niet goed uit, want voor hem wordt voorspeld dat hij een mysterieuze ziekte zal oplopen waardoor hij niet alleen doof wordt, maar ook een hersentrauma zal oplopen. 

Kortom, als de voorspellingen van Bana Vanga uitkomen zal het nieuwe jaar vrij rampzalig verlopen. Wat dat betreft zit ze aardig op één lijn met de familie Rothschild die ook een gitzwart jaar voorspelt. 

Wij kiezen ervoor om het allemaal positief te bekijken, want duidelijk is dat het aan alle kanten rommelt bij de bestaande machtsstructuren en 2019 zou zomaar eens het jaar kunnen worden, waar een groot deel van de bevolking massaal ontwaakt en er echte veranderingen zullen plaatsvinden. Want, dat er dingen moeten veranderen voor een betere toekomst van het nageslacht, zoveel is duidelijk. 

Kom maar op met dat nieuwe jaar.

Spherical UFO leaving the Sun

What he official statement says: During the early hours of December 24th, a coronal mass ejection (CME) exploded from the far side of the sun. SOHO recorded the cloud as it billowed over the sun’s northeastern limb. Because this was a far sided event, it will have no impact on Earth.

But according to YouTube channel Mrmb333 the CME is a huge sphere, an alien craft that leaves the sun.

In the past similar spherical objects have been spotted near the sun which were clearly not coronal mass ejections.

The images were taken by NASA's satellites Lasco C2 and Lasco C3 on December 24, 2018 and processed in the first part of the next video showing the moment the UFO soars off of the sun.

Clarke reveals in a detailed article on his website that he received this info over three years ago from a person claiming to be an SAS insider who told him: “(It’s) about time that the truth is revealed.”

According to the insider, SAS soldiers secretly parachuted into RAF Woodbridge on an August 1980 night to test the US security at the site. Radar detected the paratroopers despite their black parachutes and the soldiers were apprehended, interrogated for 18 hours and allegedly beaten up. During the entire ordeal, the Americans referred to them as “unidentified aliens” – a descriptive but innocent term that the British took as an insult.

“After their release, the troopers made no complaint at their rough treatment but determined to get their own back on the USAF for the beating that they had received.”

The insider explained that that insulting “aliens” comment inspired the special forces to plan a UFO prank. He was told that the soldiers used black helium balloons and remote-controlled kites to carry lights and colored flares into the sights of the US base personnel, triggering a panicked response that the British thoroughly enjoyed. Then things started to get out of hand.

“Unfortunately, a senior US officer (Lt Col Halt) led the US contingent out into the forest on the second night and took along his tape recorder. The hovering and whizzing lights were sufficiently impressive for him to send a report to the MoD. Someone in London recalled the events of the previous August and questions were asked. A few red faces but also some satisfaction and amusement followed… The USAF was “reassured” at a very senior level and no UK investigation was undertaken – for obvious reasons!”

The informant swore all of this was true. Unfortunately for him he told it to the wrong guy. Clarke first contacted Robin Horsfall, a former SAS sniper and member of the famous Special Forces operation that stormed the Iranian Embassy in 1980 to free hostages. He said he would have heard about such a seemingly great prank through the SAS grapevine, but if he did, he wouldn’t have believed it or the August incident that allegedly triggered it.

“We did undertake planned training actions against British military establishments but never against those of the US forces. Working against US units with live ammunition without strict safety protocols could have got people killed with huge political ramifications. The idea of a revenge prank by [SAS] isn’t plausible as the rules controlling pyrotechnical devices within the regiment were very strict and any such action could have resulted in those involved being returned to unit.”

Then Clarke went to Col. Ted Conrad, the US Base Commander at the time of the incidents who ordered police from the 81st Security Squadron to conduct an informal investigation of the UFO sightings in the forest reported by his personnel. He disagreed first with the “aliens” comment.

“US bases are not on US soil, rather all of them remain on sovereign British soil…US citizens who are stationed and work there are the “aliens”.”

And then with the alleged capture and beatings.

“The SSA was guarded 24/7/365 by armed, trained security personnel who were instructed to shoot to kill, if necessary, to prevent a breach. It is unthinkable that either side would conduct such an exercise against an important facility where real weapons and ammo were present. The alleged rough treatment of British Special Forces by one US Lieutenant from the 67 ARRS is also unthinkable, but if it had been reported by complaint, the offender would have been more impacted by our disciplinary action that mounting a fake UFO landing could possibly have had.”

Those are the comments of military personnel in the know on both sides. Do they have any reason to lie or cover up the alleged prank? What does Clarke think? His PhD is in British folklore, which explains his analysis:

“So there we have it folks: another winter’s tale from the Rendlesham forest. The truth, though, remains persistently out there.”

It’s still a GREAT movie plot.

UFO Above Clouds In Bridgeport, Connecticut On Nov 28, 2018, UFO Sighting News.

Here is a MUFON report that I haven't seen before. The UFO was caught over a cloud during a sunset. Sunset it one of the most common times of the day to catch a UFO. Often objects that are flying around the cloud become ignited with light as the sun sets. This makes them easy to spot for a few minutes.

Eyewitness states: 

While taking my dog for a walk in the park across the street from my house in black rock, Bridgeport, Connecticut, I decided to take continuous pictures of the beautiful sunset, with my iPhone's camera. As I reviewed my photos, I saw a bright blue object darting around the sunset in a different place in each photo, all of which took place in a few seconds. The object surprised me. It is clearly a disk-shaped UFO.
