As the United States enters into the second month of a government shutdown that began on December 22, 2018, federal employee shortages are becoming an increasing problem. On the morning of January 25, 2019, the FAA announced that due to air traffic control staffing shortages along the east coast, they werehalting flightsinto New York City's LaGuardia Airport. It's a potent reminder that while pilots and flight attendants are key to making air travel safe, air traffic controllers—though less-visible—are just as essential in getting you from Point A to Point B.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employs more than14,000of them tochoreographthe flow of airplanes on the ground and in the sky, whether that means using radar and other tools to direct aircraft at take off, communicating with pilots about flight paths and weather, or helping pilots land their planes safely. Take a look at these secrets of air traffic controllers to learn about their unique lingo, high degree of job stress, and occasional UFO sighting.
1. MANY OF THEM DON'T WORK AT AIRPORTS.
When you imagine an air traffic controller, you probably envision someone working in a tall glass tower at an airport. However, many controllers toil at either a Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility or at a route center, which may be located far away from an airport.
According to air traffic controller Chris Solomon, who controls planes for the military, controllers in each of the three types of facilities have different responsibilities. “The typical tower controllers get the planes from the gate to the runway and then airborne to within five or so miles of an airport. The aircraft then becomes under the control of the approach controllers [TRACON],” he told the website Art of Manliness.
These TRACON controllers usually control the plane during its ascent and descent from the airport. When aircraft reach an altitude above 18,000 feet, the route center controller takes over, using radar to guide aircraft at cruising altitudes until the plane begins its descent. Then the approach controller takes the reins, followed by a tower controller who guides the plane’s landing.
2. AGE IS A MAJOR FACTOR.
Some air traffic controllers begin their careers in the military, while others apply to the FAA’s Air Traffic Control Academy. But no matter how they enter the profession, they must have good vision, a sharp mind, and the ability to think quickly and clearly under pressure. The FAA requires that applicants be 30 years old or younger when they apply to the job, and controllers must retire at age 56, before most of them experience any age-related mental decline.
3. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN LINGO.
Pilots and air traffic controllers around the world must speak English to communicate (it's required by the International Civil Aviation Organization), but they also have their own flight-related language. This phonetic alphabetic and numerical system, which replaces letters (A to Z) and numbers (zero to nine) with code words, minimizes confusion and misunderstandings between air traffic controllers and pilots.
For example, controllers say “bravo” instead of the letter “B,” “Charlie” instead of the letter “C,” and “niner” instead of the number “nine.” (Theories explaining the origin of the code word “niner” differ, but aircraft enthusiasts speculate that the extra syllable differentiates it from the German word for “no” or distinguishes it from the pronunciation of the number “five.”) Air traffic controllers also have their own slang and, for instance, use the phrase “souls on board” to refer to the number of people on a plane.
The phonetic system is spelled out in detail in the FAA Order 7110.65 manual [PDF], along with other key code words, phrases, and procedures. Controllers call the manual their "bible," study it during training, and review it regularly to keep apprised of any updates and additions.
4. PILOTS WITH HEAVY ACCENTS CAN FRUSTRATE THEM.
Although English is the official language of aviation, not all pilots speak it well. Air traffic controller Brandon Miller, who works for Potomac Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) in northern Virginia, tells Mental Floss that it can be difficult to communicate with foreign pilots. “However, we are in the business of communication,” he says, explaining that learning to solve potential communication issues is part of their training. When talking to a pilot who has a heavy accent, controllers may speak more slowly, enunciate words more dramatically, and try to avoid changing routes as much as possible.
Stephen, an air traffic controller with the FAA, echoes Miller’s point. “We mainly just bitch amongst ourselves, say things very slowly, and do the best we can” when dealing with pilots who have heavy accents, he wroteon Reddit.
5. THEY ALTERNATE BETWEEN STRESS AND BOREDOM.
Because they’re responsible for thousands of lives 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most air traffic controllers experience a high level of job-related stress. “We often miss birthdays, we work on holidays and weekends, and often operate on alternative sleep cycles,” Miller explains. Staying focused is essential, especially during times of busy traffic and bad weather, so most air traffic controllers take a break every hour or two, depending on the rules at their facility.
According to Miller, the diversity of tasks in his work day keeps his job challenging. At any given time, he may be directing Air Force One or other VIPs (from our country or a foreign one), sequencing commercial passenger jets into a variety of airports in the Washington, D.C. area, assisting police or paramedic helicopters, expediting military fighters and military transport planes, or looking for suspicious aircraft in the Washington, D.C. Special Flight Rules Area.
On the other hand, graveyard shifts and periods with less traffic can be tedious and dull. “Hours and hours of boredom combined with moments of sheer terror, as we like to say,” Stephen told Reddit. “But if you like the challenge and want to be where the action is, it's a great job!”
6.THEY'RE PROBABLY OVERWORKED.
In a 2011 article for The Daily Beast, Bob Richards, who worked as an air traffic controller at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for more than two decades, described his job as “thrilling, fulfilling, and utterly exhausting.” Richards noted that four of his coworkers died of sudden cardiac death, two died of pancreatic cancer, and many others suffered from stress-related gastrointestinal illnesses. In his early 40s, Richards himself suffered from atrial fibrillation, which eventually progressed into congestive heart failure.
A secret study conducted by NASA in 2011 found that almost one-fifth of controllers made significant errors, partly due to chronic fatigue caused by their lack of sleep and busy shift schedules. To combat fatigue and address controllers who were allegedly asleep on the job, the FAA issued a series of new rules that increase the mandatory time between controllers’ shifts.
7. UFO SIGHTINGS DEFINITELY HAPPEN.
During the course of their careers, most air traffic controllers have personally spotted (or have a coworker who has spotted) some sort of unidentified flying object. UFO sightings are more common at night, when air traffic controllers may see an unexplained blinking light that doesn’t appear to be coming from an aircraft. But strange sightings aren't necessarily alien life forms—radar is so sensitive that it may pick up items such as clouds, a flock of birds, or even a large truck on the ground.
8. ROBOTS WON'T BE REPLACING THEM.
Although air traffic controllers rely on radar and other technology to do their jobs, they’re not in danger of technology replacing them any time soon. With so many lives at stake, air traffic control will likely always require humans to ensure that automated systems function properly and technology doesn’t malfunction. And controllers enjoy the sense of satisfaction that comes with using their knowledge and skills to help passengers get from point A to point B safely. “There is a great amount of pride that my coworkers and I take knowing that safety of air traffic control is the last thing on passengers' minds when they get buckled in the airplane,” Miller says.

Mysterious UFOs HEADING TOWARD Earth during NASA spacewalk live stream - shock claim
MULTIPLE UFOs spotted heading towards Earth were shown on a International Space Station live stream sparking panic among viewers about secret alien contact.
A shocking clip from the ISS live stream, intended to show a NASA-led spacewalk, in fact revealed “at least two UFOs” heading towards Earth. Stunned viewers were shocked at the rare glimpse of thefast-moving UFOsthat appeared to “reflect” the sunlight. Both of the objects were heading towards the Earth, although the one that was closer appeared to be spinning across the sky.
WETENSCHAPThe sky is the limit voor de Russische start-up StartRocket.
“Men zal de constellatie voortdurend moeten blijven aanvullen.”

According to newly conducted research, one of Earth’s oldest rocks may have been discovered on the Moon. The chunk of rock was initially brought back to Earth in 1971 from Apollo 14 astronauts who landed on the Moon.
The Earth rock ended up on the Moon more than likely because of a very powerful impact on our planet that happened approximately 4 billion years ago.
In a statement, David Kring, who is the co-author of the rock study, as well as a Universities Space Research Association (USRA) scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston, explained, “It is an extraordinary find that helps paint a better picture of early Earth and the bombardment that modified our planet during the dawn of life.”
Astronauts from the Apollo 14 mission explored the surface of the Moon for a few days in February of 1971 and that’s when they collected rock samples to bring back to our planet. The lunar samples were then studied by a research team which was led by Jeremy Bellucci from the Swedish Museum of Natural History, and Alexander Nemchin who is from the Swedish Museum and Curtin University in Australia.
Upon analysis, scientists discovered a small 0.08-ounce (or 2 grams) fragment on a rock that contained quartz, zircon, and feldspar, which are all rarely found on the moon but very common here on Earth. When they conducted chemical analysis on the fragment, they were able to find that it was crystallized in an environment which was oxidized and at a temperature that would have been the same as it was near the subsurface of the Earth in its very early days.
According to the evidence found in the study, the fragment was crystallized here on Earth between 4.1 billion and 4 billion years ago and at around 12 miles below the surface of our planet. It was then thrown into space by a strong impact and ended up on the Moon which was around three times closer to Earth than it is now.

Researchers said that after the Earth rock landed on the Moon, some of it melted and was probably buried by an impact which happened around 3.9 billion years ago. It was then uncovered by another impact on the Moon about 26 million years ago which created the 1,115-foot-wide Cone Crater. That’s where two of the Apollo 14 astronauts (Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell) took some rock samples.
The mystery of unexplained, earth-rattling booms continues around the country. Whereas mystery booms were once a rare anomaly, they seem to behappening with unsettling regularitylately. What’s behind this mysterious phenomenon? Sonic booms caused by supersonic orhypersonicweapons and aircraft? Unknown atmospheric activity? Meteorite explosions? Earthquakes, frostquakes, or frack-quakes?
What could go wrong?
Anyone’s guess is as good as any. This week’s mystery booms come to us from the American south, where residents of four separate counties in Kentucky reported hearing “an earth-shaking sound” on January 23. Emergency dispatchers in Jackson, Madison, Estill, and Rockcastle counties were called when residents heard and felt a mysterious boom loud enough to shake their homes’ foundations.
“At about 6:19 pm yesterday evening a couple of people called in and said they heard this loud boom in the county. We went to check on it in the area, and we never found anything,” Jackson County Sheriff Paul Hays told local news station WKYT. While the cause of the Kentucky mystery boom is still unknown, locals have speculated it could have been anything from an electrical transformer exploding, a rock quarry blast, a sonic boom, or outgassing caused by hydraulic fracking.
A few states to the west in Arkansas, residents of Little Rock took to social media to ask if anyone might know what caused a deafening mystery boom a few hours later on the same night. According to local news station FOX 16, several residents thought it may have been an F/A-18 breaking the sound barrieroverhead – or worse. North Little Rock local Collette Young says the sounds were eerily reminiscent of battle:
My family has served and have been to war – at one point I thought we might be under attack. I just want to know what it is so the next time I hear the sound I am not so startled.
Spokespersons for nearby Little Rock Air Force Base and the Clinton National Airport had no information about the mysterious boom. I just hope that more of these mystery booms can’t be explained by the same causes as those determined the case of recurring booms heard in Pennsylvania last year; in that incident, it turns out that a would-be domestic terrorist was testing improvised explosives in remote areas. Could more of these mystery booms be of a similar origin, or is something stranger going on?
From almost the days of the actual trip, rumors have flown about possible UFO sightings during the Apollo 11 mission and first manned landing on the Moon. Buzz Aldrin still insists that his comments about a light he saw were taken out of context and what he saw was simply a reflection of the sun off of panels jettisoned from the rocket that had carried them into orbit. The same was said to be true of comments made by Armstrong that were misconstrued over the years to be about something other than space junk. However, a newly released letter written by someone back in the news claims that the first man on the moon had more than just a passing-by-while-in-the-sky interest in UFOs.
“This letter could be somewhat historic because it might actually confirm that Armstrong did have an interest in UFOs.”
Neil Armstrong
Sun Online says the letter (see it here) was discovered by Dr. Irena Scott, a former Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) officer and author of a new book about UFO encounters, “Sacred Corridors.” Dr. Scott is well-known in UFOolgy circles, having served on the MUFON Board of Directors and as a MUFON consultant in physiology and astronomy and a field investigator. The author of the letter is Professor J. Allen Hynek, who has posthumously received 15 more minutes of fame as the focal point of the History Channel’s new series on Project Blue Book. The recipient of the handwritten letter (remember those?) was Jennie Zeidman, a close friend of Hynek who also worked with him at Wright Patterson Air Force Base on Project Blue Book.
“Dear Jennie. A week from today we sail … I got called up by the cruise director asking if the Hyneks would mind sharing a table with the Armstrongs! So – tell Barry I should be able to get the autograph for him! Did I tell you I’m going?”
Hynek was referring to an upcoming two-week cruise from New York to the west coast of Africa in 1973 on which 2,000 teachers, artists, authors, scientists and celebrities would observe a total solar eclipse and listen to lectures and discussions, including a panel with Hynek and Armstrong called “Life in the Universe.” To Scott, this is proof that, while Armstrong never publicly discussed his UFO interests, he intentionally sought on the cruise to have such discussions with a recognized expert in the field.
Sun Online also reveals Scott found evidence that Neil Armstrong and J. Allen Hynek also contacted ufologist and author Leonard Stringfield, who was at one time the director of Civilian Research, Interplanetary Flying Objects (CRIFO).
“Stringfield said that a number of years ago when Armstrong was on the board of directors of a Cincinnati bank, Armstrong and Hynek approached him with a proposal to protect the names of the government-connected informants. Armstrong said Stringfield could put his list of names in a safety deposit box at Armstrong’s bank, to which it was assumed Armstrong would also have access. The intention was that in the event of Stringfield’s death, the names wouldn’t be lost, but Stringfield rejected the idea.”
Scott implies that Armstrong was trying to help Stringfield protect the identities of 50 UFO informants. She is sketchy on this – Stringfield died in 1994 and Scott admits in the Sun article that she has no proof it actually occurred but uses it as proof that that Armstrong and Hynek had ongoing contacts, implying Armstrong had lifelong interest in UFOs and in discussing – and perhaps even covering up – their existence with a leader in the field.
So, what does this letter show? Armstrong and Hynek were already going to be on the ship together and sharing at least one panel, but it could be a sign that Armstrong had more to discuss in private – although a cruise ship dining room isn’t exactly private or secure, especially when many onboard were interested in the same subject matter and wanted to be close to the famed astronaut. Being before the fact, the letter doesn’t tell us what was actually discussed and there seems to be no published followup. Nor is there any for the the alleged but unproven meeting with Stringfield. The strongest point there is that Armstrong and Hynek had contact long after the cruise.
For now, it’s an interesting footnote – just in need of a little more foot.
We just have to accept it. We’ve been dragged into the future, despite however hard we kicked and screamed. Robots are real, and they’re basically indistinguishable from the robots of our fictions. If you’re worried about these metal abominations coming to take everything you love, and would like nothing more than to go all John Connors and reduce the lot of them to slag, you’re very much not alone, and researchers are quite concerned.
In a January 19th New York Timesarticle titled “Why Do We Hurt Robots?,” Jonah Bromwich cites a number of cases where people “brutally assaulted” robots. Poor, innocent “security robots” battered and beaten. Gangs of filthy meatbags attacking driverless cars. Three teenagers in Japan beating a robot “with all their might.” A Moscow man bludgeoning a “teaching robot” with a baseball bat as it pleaded for help. People, hilariously and ill-advisedly, crashing their own driverless cars on purpose (I respect the commitment to the fight, but those things are expensive). Another security robot was—just fight back the tears; tears can come later—wrapped in a tarp and covered in barbecue sauce. Humans are such horrible creatures that we manage to hurt things that don’t even have consciousness, let alone pain receptors.
Don’t look at me like that.
And thus, in keeping with the new cultural norm of using words without any consideration for what they mean, the term “robot abuse” was born.
Destroying robots is wrong. For the same reason that destroying someone else’s car, toaster, musical instrument, house, or computer is wrong. It’s property destruction. However hilarious covering a security robot in barbecue sauce is, a lot of money and time went into creating that machine. But that’s all it is, a machine. Yet we all anthropomorphize robots, both those scared of a robot takeover and those so deeply entrenched in robotics that they see property destruction as abuse.
Cognitive neuroscientist Agnieszka Wykowska, a researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology and the editor in chief of the International Journal of Social Robotics thinks that our violence towards robots stems from the atavistic demons responsible for our tribalism and ostracization of the other. She says:
“You have an agent, the robot, that is in a different category than humans. So you probably very easily engage in this psychological mechanism of social ostracism because it’s an out-group member. That’s something to discuss: the dehumanization of robots even though they’re not humans.”
There’s a lot wrong with this statement. One: you can’t dehumanize something that isn’t human. Two: robots are not agents. They can only do what they are programmed to do. They literally have no agency.
Asked about potential solutions to this “disturbing” problem, Ms. Wykowska offers a story about the savagery a colleague witnessed a kindergarten class express towards a robot:
“Kids have this tendency of being very brutal to the robot, they would kick the robot, they would be cruel to it, they would be really not nice.
“That went on until the point that the caregiver started giving names to the robots. So the robots suddenly were not just robots but Andy, Joe and Sally. At that moment, the brutal behavior stopped. So, its very interesting because again its sort of like giving a name to the robot immediately puts it a little closer to the in-group.”
So the solution is to teach kids that machines are people? Fantastic. What if, and I know this might sound simple, ignorant, or possibly even on-the-wrong-side-of-history, but what if we don’t want machines as part of the in-group? What if assigning humanity to a tool cheapens and debases our own self-awareness and understanding of what it means to be conscious?
I’m not going.
Let me just step up on this here soapbox for a minute. The whole problem is this shoving the future on us whether we want it or not. The Times article cites a Brown University and M.I.T. study that showed adding a robot to a workforce reduced the number of employed humans by six. In the very near future we will have armed security robots. We know these machines are coming, we know they’re changing the world, and we know it’s unavoidable. We need to treat them like the tools they are, not like people. We need, more than anything, to learn to celebrate humanity and all conscious non-humans (if I ever see a robot messing with an elephant, that’s going to be one broken robot), not blur the lines between conscious creatures and machines. Forcing people to deny a basic truth—that machines aren’t people—will only make people angrier in the short term, and in the long term will only further the mechanization and dehumanization of the world at large.
Last year, I wrotea piece here at Mysterious Universeexamining historical cases of UFO censorship in Hollywood products. For the most part, those censorship efforts were in line with the CIA Robertson Panel’s officially stated policy that UFOs are essentially non-existent and should therefore be “debunked and demystified” through media channels.
But what about the flipside of the coin? Is there any substance to the popular notion that the government has been using Hollywood not to censor UFO information, but to encourage us to believe in alien visitation? Conclusive proof of a UFO acclimation agenda remains elusive as the entire theory rests on only a small handful of cases scattered across the decades, which I present in my book,Silver Screen Saucers. Arguably the most compelling case in support of a government alien acclimation agenda is that of the feature documentary film UFOs: Past, Present, and Future (1974).
In 1972, filmmaker Robert Emenegger and his producing partner Allan Sandler were encouraged by the United States Air Force (USAF) to make a major documentary feature about the UFO phenomenon. Emenegger, a former Vice President and Creative Director at Grey Advertising (a real-life Don Draper from Man Men), told me that his partner “had very strange connections” for a producer and that he thought Sandler “did things for the CIA, and maybe even the FBI… they all seemed to work together.”
Robert Emenegger and the book based on his documentary film of the same name.
Emenegger was ideally suited to an assignment of this nature. As a student at UCLA in the mid-1950s, his thesis examined “The Influence of Motion Pictures on Public Behavior,” and the the young Emenegger was particularly interested in how cinema could be used “as an instrument of propaganda.” Additionally, Emenegger had spent a number of years working for the United States Information Agency (or USIA—a politically correct name given the government’s long-running propaganda agency). Emenegger had also performed duties for President Richard Nixon. In December 1968, the then President-elect wrote to Emenegger seeking his “active participation and assistance” in finding “exceptional individuals” worthy of appointment in his incoming administration. Nixon referred to Emenegger as “a leader” and “in a position to know and recommend… the best minds in America.”
Norton Air Force Base, circa 1970.
Emenegger described to me how he was briefed on the UFO project at Norton Air Force Base in “a clean room used by the CIA… so there was no way anyone could eavesdrop on us.” In an offer similar to that made to Walt Disney some twenty years earlier, the USAF promised Emenegger real UFO footage, this time allegedly showing a UFO landing at Holloman Air Force Base in 1971 and the subsequent face-to-face meeting between alien visitors and delegates of the US government. Emenegger was sceptical, but he was assured by the USAF that the footage existed and was genuine.
While he waited for the footage to materialize, Emenegger and his crew continued with their wider production research, for which they were given unprecedented access to DoD facilities, including the Pentagon. Emenegger was even granted time with high-ranking military officers well-versed in UFO-related matters, among them Col. William Coleman, a former spokesman for Project Blue Book, and Col. George Weinbrenner, then head of Foreign Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base—the location where alien materials and bodies allegedly recovered from the 1947 Roswell crash are said to have been stored.
Col. William Coleman.
But who in the Air Force would sign off on such a controversial project? Emenegger put this question to Pentagon spokesman Col. Coleman, who informed him that “the Secretary of the Air Force gave us the order to cooperate.” Thus, in an unprecedented move, the Air Force, Army, and Navy gave their full backing to a UFO-themed production—so too did NASA, who provided Emenegger’s research team with previously unreleased photographs of what appeared to be UFOs in space taken by Gemini astronauts. “We had carte blanche to go anywhere, ask any questions,” Emenegger told me, “there were no restrictions put on us.” Emenegger even claims to have been shown “top secret” footage shot at Vandenberg Air Force Base which showed two UFOs “playfully running behind” a US missile.
After months of shooting, Emenegger’s documentary was complete, save for one crucial ingredient—the much-hyped alien landing footage. At the eleventh hour, the USAF withdrew its permission for use of the material; the political climate had changed, it said, and was now deemed inappropriate due to the Watergate scandal, which had recently broken in the news. “I felt like we had egg on our face,” Emenegger told me. “I felt cheated that we were not allowed to see this film. It was taken back to the Pentagon… I stupidly expected to have this footage, which would have been earth-shattering.” Today, Emenegger seems as baffled by the whole affair as anyone, “Were we had? Were we being used?” he asks.
Emenegger’s Golden-Globe-nominated documentary, UFOs: Past, Present and Future, was finally released in 1974 and was ground-breaking in its extensive use of information provided by the DoD. In addition to the aforementioned photographs from NASA, it featured sit-down interviews with the former heads of Project Blue Book, and footage shot inside the Pentagon of Col. Coleman talking open-mindedly about the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis. In the absence of the landing footage, Emenegger was forced to include an animated reconstruction of the event as described to him by the USAF, complete with artistic renderings of the alleged aliens. The documentary presented the incident as “one that might happen in the future, or perhaps could have happened already.”
An artist’s imagining of the alleged Holloman UFO landing, based on details provided to the filmmakers by the US Air Force.
But the promised landing footage wasn’t entirely absent, at least not according to Emenegger. During the dramatic reconstruction of the alleged landing, eagle-eyed viewers can catch a few frames of what appears to be a genuine, self-luminescent Unidentified Flying Object descending slowly in the distance against the backdrop of Holloman’s surrounding landscape. These frames, Emenegger claims, were taken from the original landing footage and authorised by the USAF during the editing stage for use in his completed documentary.
Although Emenegger’s documentary was green-lit by the Secretary of the Air Force, the roots of the project likely lead back to Langley, Virginia, and to the CIA. Emenegger revealed to me that it was his production partner, the CIA-connected Allan Sandler, who brought the project to him in the first place; and let us not forget that Emenegger received his briefing at Norton Air Force Base in a CIA “clean room.” Furthermore, Emenegger told me that a “CIA courier” named Dick Beske shadowed him and his crew throughout his documentary’s entire production process. Beske was “always hanging around us,” said Emenegger, “observing.”
Richard “Dick” Beske later became a member of the steering group for Veteran Intelligence Officers for Sanity (VIPS), an organization comprised of former and serving officials of the United States Intelligence Community, including some from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the U.S. State Department’s Intelligence Bureau, and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). VIPs was formed in January 2003 as a “coast-to-coast enterprise” to protest the use of faulty intelligence in the lead-up to the US-led invasion of Iraq.
It should be noted that Emenegger’s documentary was re-edited and re-released in 1979 featuring additional content. It also received a new title: UFOs: It has Begun. You can watch it here (the Holloman landing reconstruction begins around the 1:17:00 mark, towards the end of the documentary)…
Could it be there really is a government agenda to acclimate us to UFO reality? If so, then, on the face of it, those behind this agenda would, at times, have been working in direct opposition to the Pentagon, which has worked hard over the years to keep UFOs out of the popular imagination and/or to distance itself from UFO conspiracy theories onscreen. But perhaps there has long been a separate, more sophisticated power group working through the national security apparatus—one whose Hollywood agenda transcends the polarized dynamic of debunk vs. acclimate? The UFO subject has always been a divisive one, even within the corridors of power, and it would be a mistake to assume that all branches of the government and military see eye-to-eye on this thorny issue. If there is a hidden hand tweaking and seeding Hollywood’s UFO-themed products, it could well belong to a group or agency so secretive that its very existence is unknown to the public—a quasi-governmental/quasi-private entity accountable only to itself. Something to contemplate while you’re munching on your popcorn at the next big alien movie.
Cigar-shaped UFO flying through space during display of the Northern Lights
Cigar-shaped UFO flying through space during display of the Northern Lights
The following footage has been recorded from the LiveCam on January 15, 2019 and shows a UFO flying at a high speed through space during a fascinating display of an aurora borealis also called the northern lights.
Compared to cigar-shaped UFOs this UFO seems to have a kind of square structure across the rear end of the craft.
Over the years it has been proven that more UFO observations have been reported of cigar-shaped or cylindrical UFOs than any other type of alien craft.
I found a giant disk at the center of Saturns North Pole. The UFO is a double layer craft and seems to be driving the storms to become more powerful all around it. I has long been believed among astrobiologist that the storms on Saturn were being created by aliens on purpose to either hide the surface or to mix a perfect level of gasses together to mix the required atmosphere to breath. Not all aliens breath air, but must have other gases to stay alive. Here is proof that aliens do control the storms on Saturn.

Date of sighting: January 17, 2019
Location of sighting: South Yorkshire, England
The video that we show you today was recorded on the evening of 17 January 2019 and shows a globe of light (UFO) that lands in the garden of a house in the town of Doncaster, located in South Yorkshire (England). In the security cam video you can see how the sphere of light, once landed, seems to stand for a few seconds in the garden. The eyewitness then states that the light then suddenly in a flash of light disappears, but I don't see this in the video. Perhaps the eyewitness cut it out for some unknown reason.
Such UFOs have been seen before over Dome of Rock temple in many years ago. I will put the video below.

Strange Purple Light Hovers Over Town In Utah, Jan 15, 2019, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: January 15, 2019 Location of sighting: Utah, USA This strange purple light was seen on an overcast night over their town in Utah last week. The purple light stayed in position, but changed in luminosity over several minutes. The eyewitness uploaded the video to Youtube asking people what they think this strange light is or what could cause it? But no-one could come up with any explanation...except that it might be a UFO. I know that this is not a purple laser, because I own several...red, green, purple but purple lasers would leave a long purple line visible before it hit the clouds above. This is truly bizarre. Mysterious Multiple Objects Appear Moving Towards Earth During NASA Spacewalk Live Stream
Mysterious Multiple Objects Appear Moving Towards Earth During NASA Spacewalk Live Stream
The International Space Station live stream seems to show multiple UFOs moving towards Earth. The video sparks secret alien contact claims among viewers.
The ISS live stream clip is for a NASA-led spacewalk, but it apparently reveals at least two UFOs are moving towards Earth. The fast-moving UFOs that appear to be reflecting the sunlight shock the viewers. The one that is closer to Earth seems to be spinning across the sky.
Also in the clip are two astronauts working on the spacecraft during the live stream. Many viewers believe the reflection of the sun causes the flashing lights of the object.
Initially, the flashes appear dim but later get brighter, leading to a claim that it is a high-tech UFO.
NASA always refuses to talk about these observations and instead takes a stance to ignore questions related to them.
The footage has been seen about half a million times. One viewer commented that it was terrific NASA did not cut the feed. The space agency is known to many conspiracy theorists of cutting feeds of an anomalous incident, leading in an abrupt end of the live stream.
During the reign of king Tut between 1333 BC and 1324 BC, the understanding of iron metallurgy, or indeed the casting of such objects was very limited. Iron smelting is the extraction of usable metal from oxidized iron ores.
It is vastly more difficult than smelting tin and copper, such metals could be cold-worked in simple pottery kilns, and then cast into moulds, a process largely accepted as being present within ancient Egyptian times. However, the smelting of iron requires hot-working, and can only be melted in specially designed extremely heated furnaces. It is therefore not surprising that humans only mastered iron smelting after several millennia of the bronze age. However, there is a pair of relics, found within ancient Egypt, who’s sheer existence disprove the officially held, chronological account of when these hardened metals were developed. Or do they? … Within the ancient wrappings of the sarcophagus which contained pharaoh Tutankhamen, two daggers were discovered. Encased in gold sheaths, they were placed there more than 3000 years prior, for the king’s protection within the afterlife. One had an iron blade and the other with a blade made of hardened gold. Yet both are not made from regular metals, amazingly, these daggers are in fact, made from metals not native to Earth. It is officially accepted that it would have been quite difficult, nigh impossible, for ancient civilizations to have acquired iron in pure states, so most of the pure iron found in weaponry within this mysterious culture, are academically accepted as coming from quote, “meteoric sources.” This explanation, may be easier to digest for the majority of the population of earth, however, it is not only a flawed explanation, but illogical. If this ancient Egyptian civilization which possessed knowledge we are yet to re discover, did indeed extract these alien metals from meteorites, yet largely accepted to have not been able to cast such metals, then an obvious question arises, how did they cast the metal into daggers? The official explanation offered provides no answer, as is often the case with out of place artefacts. A more logical scenario, is that these daggers were in fact the remnants of a far older civilisation, a civilisation responsible for the construction of ancient Egypt, a group of people visited by, or indeed travelled too, people from another world entirely. Additionally, modern, advanced metallurgical analysis found that the iron dagger, is not a normal meteoritic iron, but a complex, intelligent, and very strong alloy, containing varying amounts of nickel, chromium, and cobalt. Furthermore, the nickel content is so high, nearly 25%, it makes this alloy totally different from those made by man. The Alchemy required to make such a non-rusting metal, was developed many centuries, of not millennia after king Tuts death. Just where did these daggers come from? How old could they actually be? Were they made as a gift by a race who visited earth? Apart from our postulations, it seems no one can produce a working theory.

Aknauten was a Pharaoh in the 18th dynasty. father of the famous king Tut. He would soon be called the heratic King. Because of the extent at which the ancient Egyptians went to erase his legacy from history. Because of this. very little is known about him. but what we do know about him makes us wonder who or what he really was.
Ancient Vimana Discovered in Secret Underground Chamber? Srirangam Temple, India
Ancient Vimana Discovered in Secret Underground Chamber? Srirangam Temple, India
Hey guys, what you are seeing is the actual footage of a secret underground chamber in the ancient temple of Srirangam in India. This underground chamber was discovered in 2015 and experts confirm that this is an authentic video. The temple of Srirangam is at least 2000 years old and contains many ancient secrets. A week after this chamber was opened, authorities completely closed it and sealed with granite blocks and metal doors, which is what you see here. There is no way to enter or examine it now. What was inside the underground vault which was so secretive, that the entire structure had to be sealed off? I have been talking to several locals about this, and this is what really happened.
Until 2015, this entrance was closed with 2 doors made of granite stone blocks and nobody knew how to open them. Authorities finally broke these doors, and entered the room at the ground level. Look at what is carved on the top of this doorway. It undoubtedly shows 2 doors closing the entrance and there is a conical sign below, pointing vertically underneath the floor. These were ancient symbols clearly pointing to something important, I am not sure if this is why authorities decided to break the doors and go in. When authorities entered this room at the ground level, they found a conical sign carved on the floor. They started removing the rocks on the floor in that spot, and they found that it leads to this underground vault.
You can clearly see that this chamber is at the underground level. But another chamber was also discovered directly underneath this level as well. Construction workers who saw it with their own eyes confirm this. You can see a small rectangle covered with dirt, and a pole placed on it. This was the doorway that led to the next underground level, which had something extraordinary. It is obvious that authorities have covered this with a stone block, put some dirt and placed a pole on it, so no one can open it. There would be no need for the pole, if there was nothing underneath. There is no footage of the 2nd underground chamber, and authorities completely sealed everything within a week after opening that chamber.
What did the underground vault have? Why was the contents not shown to the public? It is obvious that there was some ancient secret inside the vaults, because if the chambers were really empty, there is no need to seal off everything. I said chambers because look at here (2.05) this is a door knob which would lead to the next vault. And (1.12 ) look – this is a new block, placed recently. These evidences prove that authorities found more vaults nearby and then closed everything off.
So far, everything we have seen is remarkably similar to what happened in Padmanabaswamy temple. The Padmanabhaswamy temple also has many underground chambers and valuables worth at least 17 Billion dollars were found and the final chamber has still not been opened. The Padmanabhaswamy and Srirangam temple are remarkably similar to one another, both are dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Even the main deities in the sanctum look identical. Did these underground vaults at Sri Rangam also contain large amounts of gold and diamonds like the Padmanabaswamy temple? While construction workers confirm that a large treasure was in fact found, they also reveal something much more shocking: one of these vaults contained a 10 foot tall metallic Vimana, a flying machine, which made a rattling sound when moved.
Are locals making up this story or was a small aircraft really found here? Around the world, We have heard several eyewitness accounts of small UFOs and flying saucers, one even crashed in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. But this is the first time we are hearing of such a small, ancient spacecraft in India. Did ancient builders safeguard a Vimana in the underground area of the temple? If this is the case, they would have definitely made some carvings about them. Remember, I have repeatedly demonstrated that ancient builders always leave clues in the form of carvings. Even in this temple, note how they had carved the doors and the conical sign which were clues to open the doors and dig underneath.
So, I began exploring the carvings in this temple, but this was a monumental task because there are more than 25,000 carvings in this temple – this is the largest temple in India which stretches for miles. But I find exactly what we are looking for. Here is a carving of a Vimana, an aircraft hanging in mid-air, this is actually in a flying position. And this is not the only carving I found, there are several flying machines carved in this temple. And it is interesting to see that these Vimanas also resemble temple towers.
Now what does the term Vimana mean? Ancient Indian texts clearly describe vimana as an aircraft or spacecraft used by Gods who came down from the sky. Human beings later built stone models of these flying machines, and used the same name for the models as well. This is why all temple towers are aerodynamically shaped and resemble spacecraft and this why these towers are also known a Vimanas. But these carvings are definitely not temple towers. Why? Because temple towers cannot hang in mid-air, these are obviously flying devices. And look at the bottom of these Vimanas, each Vimana is different from the other, and each one has a specific cymatic design at the center. There would be absolutely no need to put these cymatic patterns at the base of a temple tower because this design would merely be buried in the ground. But all modern spacecraft, would have a circular hole at the bottom center to provide thrust. And this is what we see in these ancient Vimanas as well. Each cymatic pattern in these Vimanas indicates a specific frequency which was used for propulsion. In fact, ancient Vedic texts clearly state that there is a specific mantra or sound pattern assigned to activate specific types of Vimanas. And if we decode these cymatic patterns, we might finally understand the secret of these ancient flying machines. And we may be even be able to rebuild an actual Vimana.
But what’s really strange is that, there is already a large metallic Vimana in Srirangam, which is hiding in plain sight. When we look at the aerial view of Srirangam temple, we realize that something is not right. There are a total of 21 temple towers or Vimanas, but only 20 are made of stone. One Vimana, the one at the very center, is made out of solid gold. People are not allowed to take photographs of this golden vimana, and it is even protected with an electric fence. Who built this Golden Vimana, and what is the purpose of it? While modern history books are not able to give us a definite answer, the ancient historical text called Sri Ranga Mahatmiyam clearly mentions that the Golden Vimana was not constructed, but appeared on its own. This Vimana was the original vehicle of Lord Vishnu, and the rest of the stone structures around it were built much later in time. There are pictorial representations of Lord Vishnu standing inside a dome, carved on this golden Vimana. Locals confirm that there are underground vaults right underneath the golden tower as well, and those chambers were also sealed off about 50 years ago.
This means that this vast temple area is full of underground structures just like Ellora Caves. This is the reason why many areas such as the 1000 pillared hall are locked. See how this entire area cannot be accessed by visitors. I mean, what is the need to restrict access to a hall which only has stone pillars? Is it because it also has entry ways to underground chambers?
But the most important question is this: What happened to the 10 foot tall Vimana found underground? Is it currently in the sealed chamber or has it been moved somewhere? We can see a strange pattern emerging among ancient sites in India. The Padmanabaswamy temple, the Submerged city of Dwaraka, and now the Srirangam temple. Someone accidentally finds evidence of a lost civilization but instead of showing the contents to the public, authorities completely cover it up from the public eyes. Why do they prevent us from learning the }about ancient technology?

Earth is surrounded by a cloud of defunct satellites that can be hazardous to working spacecraft — but it doesn't have to be that way.

"Space is for everyone" is a popular saying, but it rarely holds true — partly because space is expensive, and partly because certain countries have decades of a head start and established procedures to rely on.
Rethinking those established procedures, however, could address not just inequity, but other looming challenges in space exploration as well. That's the argument that powers the research of Danielle Wood, who runs a program at MIT's Media Lab, which focuses on how to do things in space that further equity and justiceon Earth.
Much of that ambivalence stems from the space race, which played out against a geopolitical landscape of intense nationalism that used space as a power play — both through the hard power of aiding weapons research and the soft power of seeking to impress newly independent former colonies. America's early spaceflight work was also deeply rooted in military goals, and our first rockets were designed and built by engineers recruited from Nazi Germany after World War II.
While Wood appreciates the importance of physical security, she said it's past time to shift the goals of space so that projects align more closely with other values humans hold, like justice — which she defines as ensuring everyone can access space and use its technology to meet local goals. She focuses her work around the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, a set of 17 global priorities created by the U.N. Development Program. Sample goals include ending hunger, ensuring access to clean water and addressing climate change and its effects.
Traditional space technology does sometimes address these issues. For example, satellite data can inform agricultural practices, for example, and a whole fleet of satellites keep an eye on climate indicators. But they do so within the confines of the same satellite design and rocket technology that underpins all other uses of space. Wood believes in putting these values at the base of a project, so that they infuse every step of the way.
Consider how we power rockets in the first place — with huge quantities of toxic, flammable rocket fuel that scientists suspect is polluting Earth's upper atmosphere. Engineers regularly work to reduce the amount of fuel they need, but Wood pushes the question deeper. "Can we choose ingredients for spacecraft that are not so expensive or so difficult to operate?" she said. So her team is studying whether paraffin wax could replace rocket fuel, since it's cheaper and safer to handle.
Another area in which Wood is working is how satellites are created. "Our current approach mainly depends on doing a design for a satellite that's complete on Earth," Wood said. "We can imagine a future in which there are basically small factories available in space." Incorporating technology like 3-D printing and modular parts, assembly could move to space, changing the engineering problems and costs involved in building satellites.
Such an approach could also affect the challenges and costs at the other end of the production cycle. Right now, when satellites are no longer in use, most are carefully de-orbited to avoid cluttering space — but for decades, the first spacefaring nations didn't stop to worry about leaving junk in orbit. That gave them an advantage. "Early space actors could take sort of a lazy approach to satellite engineering," Wood said. As long as it reached space safely and did its job without breaking, it was a success. [Explorer 1: America's First Satellite in Pictures]
Newer satellite builders don't have that luxury, since space junk has become such a challenge — they need a cleaner endgame. And they have to work around debris already in place, designing trajectories and technologies that keep their creations safe from the litter of previous satellites, which can cause extremely damaging collisions. "They're also inheriting the physical realities of what's happening in orbit due to space debris," she said.
But rethink satellite production, Wood said, and space junk could be designed out of the system. Satellites that have served their purpose could be split into their modular parts or melted into 3D printer stock material, regenerating their successors.
And such overhauls could also close the gap between building satellites and getting them to space. Even as cheaper small satellites like cubesats have proliferated, more established spacefaring nations still control most launch opportunities, with the notable exception of a United Nations' program that has helped countries like Kenya and Mauritius build satellites launched from the International Space Station. If a satellite can be built in orbit, its creator doesn't need to rely on launch capability.
That would let more countries use space to pursue the goals that make sense for them on the ground — and make space a more just place, Wood said.
NASA’s New “Fermi Guide” to Advanced Alien Life (Weekend Feature)
NASA’s New “Fermi Guide” to Advanced Alien Life (Weekend Feature)
This past December 2018 an exciting event took place: NASA researcher Silvano Colombano, who works for the agency’s Ames Research Center in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, published a white paper that Enrico Fermi would have given a rave review titled “New Assumptions to Guide SETI Research.” In short, the document was a fresh look at the Fermi Paradox that attempts to answer the eternal human question: Are we alone? Where is evidence of another advanced civilization?
Colombano challenged the set of assumptions that currently guide SETI research and made recommendations for a new, more “aggressive” approach. Recent discoveries, he observed, from the Kepler Mission data have identified planetary system as old as 10.4 Gyr (a Gyr equal to one billion years) Kepler-10 and 11.2 Gyr, Kepler-444. Considering that the age of our solar system is about 4.5 Gyr, earth like planets could exist that are 6 billion years older than Earths.
We live in a universe where matter is distributed in a hundred billion galaxies, each containing a hundred billion stars, made up of quantum fields where space and time are not existent, that manifest themselves in the form of particles, such as electrons and photons, or as waves. Tucked into the 14-billion-year history … Continue readingThe Aliens Before Us –“We are Not the First Technological Civilization” (Or, are We?)
Technological development in our civilization started only about 10,000 years ago and has seen the rise of scientific methodologies only in the past 500 years, means that we can surmise that we might have a real problem in predicting technological evolution even for the next thousand years, let alone that of a civilization a million or more years older.
The core ideas of Columbano’s new SETI guide:
1. Interstellar travel is impossible or highly unlikely. Clearly distance and energy are insurmountable problems for the technologies we have available and our present understanding of physics. Still we are able to fathom possibilities of achieving much greater understanding and control of matter-energy and space-time. Even if the speed of light continues to be an unbreakable barrier, over spans of thousands of years civilizations could probably make interstellar journeys, depending on what assumptions we make about the forms of life that they will comprise (see below).
“I do not believe that most advanced alien civilizations will be biological,” says Susan Schneider of the University of Connectict and the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton .”The most sophisticated civilizations will be postbiological, forms of artificial intelligence or alien superintelligence.” Schneider is one of the few thinkers—outside the realm of science fiction— … Continue reading“Alien Artificial Intelligence is Out There” –And It’s Billions of Years Old (A 2018 Most Viewed)
2. Radio waves continue to be the major form of communication for thousands or millions of years. I suspect, he writes, that even if the radio medium continues to be used, the packing of information inside it would be so much greater that we would not be able to recognize any “structure” and would not be able to distinguish it from noise, unless a civilization would in fact decide to use it as a beacon. Even with that intention, that form of communication might quickly have become obsolete, and they might choose other types of beacons for civilizations that are closer in development to theirs. Whether and how civilizations would choose to communicate could also be a fertile field of technosociological study.
3. Intelligent civilizations would be based on carbon life Given the fairly common presence of elements that might be involved in the origin of life throughout the universe, it is a reasonable assumption that life “as we know it” was at least a common starting point, but our form of life and intelligence, may just be a tiny first step in a continuing evolution that may well produce forms of intelligence that are far superior to ours and no longer based on carbon “machinery”. After a mere 50 years of computer evolution we are already talking about “super-intelligence” and we are quickly becoming symbiotic with computer power.
I don’t want to address here the issue of the survival of our species, he writes, or its future “role” within a continuing evolution of millions of years. He simply wants to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn’t already) might not be at all be produced by carbon based organisms like us. How might that change the above assumptions about interstellar travel? Our typical life-spans would no longer be a limitation (although even these could be dealt with multi-generational missions or suspended animation), and the size of the “explorer” might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity. And how might this change our assumptions about openness or desire to communicate with other civilizations?
4. We have not been, and are not being… visited. It seems to me, Columbano observes, that SETI has ignored (at least officially) the potential relevance of UFO phenomena for three reasons: 1) The assumption of extremely low likelihood of interstellar travel, 2) The very high likelihood of hoaxes, mistaken perceptions or even psychotic events in UFO phenomena, and 3) The general avoidance of the subject by the scientific community.
I think, he continued, the approach the scientific community could take, instead, is very similar to what SETI has done so far: find the signal in the noise. In the very large amount of “noise” in UFO reporting there may be “signals” however small, that indicate some phenomena that cannot be explained or denied. If we adopt a new set of assumptions about what forms of higher intelligence and technology we might find, some of those phenomena might fit specific hypotheses, and we could start some serious inquiry.
Columbano points to new opportunities: The recent Kepler discoveries of Earth-like planets offer the opportunity to focus our attention on detecting signs of life and technology in specific planetary systems, but I feel we need to become more flexible in our assumptions. The reason is that, while it is still reasonable and conservative to assume that life is most likely to have originated in conditions similar to ours, the vast time differences in potential evolutions render the likelihood of “matching” technologies very slim.
In light of the challenges described above he proposes a more “aggressive” approach to future SETI exploration, in the following directions:
1. Engage physicists in what might be called “speculative physics”, still grounded in our most solid theories but with some willingness to stretch possibilities as to the nature of space-time and energy.
2. Engage technologists in futuristic exploration of how technology might evolve, especially with Artificial Intelligence, “Evolvable Robotic Systems” and symbiosis of biology with machines.
3. Engage sociologists in speculation about what kinds of societies we might expect from the above developments, and whether and how they might choose to communicate.
4. Consider the UFO phenomenon worthy of study in the context of a system with very low signal to noise ratio, but nevertheless with the possibility of challenging some of our assumptions and pointing to new possibilities for communication and discovery.
THE YELLOWSTONE volcano could wipe out more than three-quarters of the US in the event of an eruption and a researcher warns that, if it happens, people must "head east as fast as you can", a bombshell documentary has revealed.
The supervolcano, located inYellowstoneNational Park, has erupted three times in history – 2.1 million years ago, 1.2 million years ago and 640,000 years ago. Scientists have previously revealed that, should an earthquake occur, it could take less than two weeks before a catastrophic reaction event. Now, researchers are plotting the safest evacuation in case of an emergency.
Survivalists Martin and Steven run YouTube channel Team Hack Life, where they provide key information on crisis situations.
Last week, they posted mini-documentary “Yellowstone Volcano Eruption – How to Find Safety”, where they discussed the possible outcomes should the volcano blow.
Martin revealed: “Where would it be safe if Yellowstone did erupt? The easy answer is head east as fast as you can.
“The states of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming would be the most affected by the initial blast.

“Scientists have predicted how the event would go down with a map."
He then revealed a diagram showing six zones in the US and how they would each be affected.
He added: “Zone one, which is a radius of 100 miles, could see 70,000 people die instantly.
“Zone two, which starts after 100 miles, would be covered in 10ft of volcanic ash at 450C.
“After the second zone, your chances of surviving increase, but still head east as fast as you can.

“Beyond zone six is where you would be the safest in the US for the short term, but the wind will greatly determine where ash falls.”
Martin went on to describe how, even after surviving the initial blow, humans around the world could fall victim to a volcanic winter.
He detailed: “Much like a nuclear winter, a volcanic winter is when there’s enough ash in the atmosphere to cool down the planet by one or two degrees.
“Two degrees doesn’t sound like much, but this shift in temperature could cause the deaths of Billions of people.
“Those deaths would not be caused by ash filled lungs but would be caused by starvation as the volcanic winter causes the decimation of agricultural crops around the globe.”
