A photographer in Zurich, Switzerland, spotted the glowing object while four SpaceX astronauts returned to Earth thousands of miles away.
The 'doughnut UFO' spotted over Switzerland appeared the same night as SpaceX's Endeavor capsule reentry.

On the night of Monday, Nov. 8, a photographer in Zurich, Switzerland, who goes by the Twitter handle @Eavix1Eavixaimed his camera at the sky and snapped several pictures of what he aptly described as a "doughnut UFO."
Composed of several bright-blue concentric rings, the flying object looked as much like a spacecraft as a breakfast treat. The photographer suspected he had actually glimpsed SpaceX's Endeavour capsule, which was scheduled to return to Earth that night with four astronauts who had just concluded a 200-day stay on the International Space Station. British tabloid site The Daily Mail even included the eerie photos in a roundup of Endeavour sightings the next day.
But there's a problem with this story: When the Endeavour capsule splashed down a little after 10:30 p.m. EDT that night, it landed half a world away in the Gulf of Mexico — more than 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) from Zurich.

While spectators in Louisiana, Alabama and several other Gulf states saw clear views of the capsule streaming across the sky, it is almost impossible that anyone in Switzerland would have been able to see the craft's reentry, Marco Langbroek, an amateur satellite tracker and academic researcher at Leiden University in the Netherlands, told Live Science in an email.
"Any passes [of Endeavour] over Switzerland prior to landing that night would have been completely in Earth's shadow, i.e. it would not be illuminated by the sun and hence not visible," Langbroek said. "Reentry itself was over Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico, and would not have been visible from Switzerland. The deorbit burn, prior to reentry, was over the Indian Ocean, so also not visible from Switzerland."
So, if the donut UFO wasn't a SpaceX craft, then what was it? According to Langbroek, the unidentified flying object over Switzerland may not have been flying at all; it could have been the garbled image of a distant star.
"I am pretty certain that the 'donut UFO' on the Swiss images is an out-of-focus image of a bright star," Langbroek said. "It quite looks like it."
Still, other images that the photographer snapped that night seem to show a zig-zagging trail of light behind the object — suggesting it was indeed moving.
According to Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts, it's possible that the doughnut UFO was the upper stage of a rocket — that is, the small, topmost section of a rocket used to propel a craft into orbit — reentering the atmosphere and burning up.
However, without a precise time frame for the photos, it's difficult to tie the mysterious lights to any known object that was in the sky that night, McDowell told Live Science in an email. (Live Science requested time stamps for the images, but the photographer was unable to provide them.)
Star, rocket or something else entirely? For now, the doughnut UFO over Switzerland is keeping its secrets — and remains a truly unidentified flying object.

Machu Picchu – everyone’s favorite Inca site high in the Andes mountains of Peru – is one of those onion-style archeological sites that keeps revealing new features as mysterious layers are peeled away. The year 2021 ended with a major ‘peel’ for the site as LiDAR-equipped drones helped find 12 previously unknown small structures in Machu Picchu National Park which help identify the caretakers of the complex back in the 15th century. The LiDAR also revealed previously unknown canals that show how the Incas controlled water – a feat they believed was a ‘superpower’ granted to them by the gods.

As described in a new study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science, a team of researchers from the Center for Andean Studies at the University of Warsaw and the Wroclaw (Poland) University of Science and Technology focused new efforts on Chachabamba, a ceremonial water complex surrounding the Machu Picchu citadel that both demonstrated the power of the Inca peoples and offered pilgrims ritual baths, gardens and fountains. Using data from drones with lidar (light detection and ranging) systems flying very low over the dense vegetation covering much of Chachabamba, they found 12 small structures that appeared to be homes of those who were responsible for the amenities of Chachabamba.
“There are indications that it was mainly women who looked after the complex. as suggested by objects discovered during previous excavations by a Polish-Peruvian team.”
Dominika Sieczkowska from the Center for Andean Studies told Heritage Daily that despite the ornateness of Machu Picchu and Chachabamba, the homes of the female caretakers were plain … some things never change. The hydraulic systems of Chachabamba were functioning until mudslides destroyed part of it in 2012 and the area became overgrown. The LiDAR drones and computer simulations from their data helped the researchers see just how sophisticated the system was when operational and impressing the enemies of the Incas.
“Part of the system was destroyed, and the current study was conducted to answer such unknowns as how much water flowed through the system, which watercourse flowed into the system, and how fast. The light water flow evinced in the researchers’ lidar images is part of the basis for their conclusion that the site’s use was ceremonial rather than functional, supplying residences with water.”
Artnet News explains that researchers now know the power water played in the reputation of the Incas as they conquered other cultures from Argentina to Ecuador – and Chachabamba was the center of that power. And yet, we now know the caretakers of such power were women, not men. This fits in with the belief of some historians that men and women held equal stature and equal responsibilities in Inca society – a practice looked down upon by the invading Europeans because women had no such stature in their societies.
One wonders how different things might have been if the Europeans tried to learn from the Incas rather than conquer them.

While searching though the NASA space station cam footage I found one video that stood apart from the rest. A triangle craft was seen near the space station about 50 meters away from it. The craft is huge about 40+ meters across! Its speed is matched with that of the space station. Live cams don't lie. This raw footage is 100% proof that alien craft visit the space station whenever they feel like it. I doubt that they dock with the space station, but they clearly are sending a message to the astronauts on board the ISS that they exist, and they were there first.

This raw footage just came in. An object was falling from space with a thick but short smoke wall all around it when the eyewitness caught sight of it. It was depending slowly, much too slow to be a meteor. The cloud all around it rules out SpaceX landing, since the craft should not have such damage or create such a cloud around it. This looks like an alien craft disguised as a meteor so it will go unnoticed and get easily dismissed by eyewitnesses. Aliens often try to outsmart humans by taking modest steps to hiding, thinking they don't need try harder since aliens are more intelligent than humans, however...their ego clearly got in the way here.

On December 26, Exopolitics US Army source, JP, was given a set of geographical coordinates from an unnamed Lt Colonel (USAF) who simply told him to publicly release them.
JP had seen the officer at a classified briefing he attended at a military base where he is currently stationed, where he was told about ancient ruins being found on Antarctica, the Moon, Mars, and elsewhere in our solar system.
These were being investigated in joint missions with various Earth nations, including China. The coordinates given to JP (72°31'12"S 3°36'26"W) appear to show a large building complex located about 150 miles (240 km) from the Antarctic coastline in Queen Maud Land.
This is an area that was claimed by Hitler’s Third Reich and where an Antarctic Colony, Base 211, was secretly established during World War 2.

Witness report:
Leaving work area to begin my driving route and noticed a bright large orange/red orb in the distance towards the eastern horizon. Noting this I turned towards the overpass at 41st and union and immediately see a group of 3 or so large pulsating orbs appearing over a billboard and directly in front of me. They pulsated at such a slow rate and they didn’t project light like a plane or drone. The orbs looked “bio luminescent” In a way. They steadily moved while gaining altitude and went over the overpass. In doing so a street lamp was turned off. While this was happening, I also noted a aircraft also in the area at a much higher distance and with small blinking lights. I had recorded the encounter as best as I could. Lasted sometime more or less 2 to 5 minutes.
The P̳e̳n̳t̳a̳g̳o̳n̳ continues to secretly investigate U̳F̳O̳s and is in possession of material from U̳F̳O̳ wrecks. At least this is what the Times newspaper said, which already discovered in December 2017 the existence of the so-called Advanced Program for the identification of aerospace threats (AATIP).
A journalistic investigation now claims that the U̳F̳O̳ search did not end in 2012, as the Air Force since 2017, together with the Department of Defense, launched the Special Force of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPTF) integrated within the Office of United States Naval Intelligence. This agency appears to have taken on the responsibilities of AATIP and could bring good news for U̳F̳O̳ enthusiasts in the coming months.
As anticipated, the US Senate Intelligence Committee has supported “the Unexplained Airborne Phenomena (UAP) Work Cell” so that the P̳e̳n̳t̳a̳g̳o̳n̳ has 180 days to submit a report to Congress. In fact, towards the end of 2020, the report presented by a pilot of a Super Hornet F / A-18 fighter plane that collided with one of these UAPs at the end of 2014 was made public.
The NY Times explains that some remains of the accident (U̳F̳O̳ fragments) were analyzed by Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who works as a subcontractor and consultant for the P̳e̳n̳t̳a̳g̳o̳n̳ and who claimed they were made of “non-human,” that we couldn’t be able to build “. Surely you’re referring here to the strange leagues that the director of AATIP spoke about on FOX News? We are facing ultimate proof that U̳F̳O̳s are spacecraft of e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ origin.
The Department of Defense has reports of vehicles not made on this planet.
According to information provided by the NY Times, Davis has released classified material to the Department of Defense about “vehicles not manufactured on this planet,” as well as other reports of the recovery of unexplained objects, to both the Senate Armed Services Committee and committee members. Senate intelligence, in particular to the interim president, Marco Rubio, Republican senator from Florida.
In an interview with CBS4, Rubio pointed out that “we have strange things flying over our military bases and the places where we are conducting military exercises.” Rubio added that “we don’t know what these things are. A man claims to have seen a triangular 'UFO ' with 'cloaking abilities' on New Year's Eve - in a sighting that is eerily similar to one made in Britain just a few months ago.
UFO enthusiast Vaultteam6 managed to capture a video of the mysterious object flying over Columbus Ohio, and it shows three lights floating in a triangular shape, as the Daily Star reports.
The clip is very similar to a video captured by a doorbell camera in Britain in November, as Matt Doughty, 43, was baffled by a strange triangular object gliding over his house in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
The new sighting, which has been shared on Reddit, left the witness shocked as the lights suddenly disappeared - leaving him to think the UFO has the ability to make itself invisible.

As the demand for gadgets and electric cars grows, so too are the mining operations that dig up cobalt to use in lithium-ion batteries.
And that’s become a serious problem for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The New Yorker reports, which sits atop about 3.4 million metric tons of the stuff — half of the entire planet’s supply. A massive, gold rush-like mining industry was born after residents in poverty-stricken areas discovered ore deposits under their homes. But now, many are finding that digging up the valuable mineral has failed to lift them out of poverty. And meanwhile, dangerous conditions are killing miners as exposure to the metal is poisoning both people and the environment.
Skimming the Top
A lack of regulations and enforcement over the mines has resulted in the miners, who risk their health and safety for financial security, being exploited by officials and traders who are unscrupulously lining their own pockets, according to The New Yorker. One miner told the publication that he now struggles to pay his $25 monthly rent even as the value of cobalt continues to soar — and the only alternative was to work at a major corporation’s mine for considerably less money.
Meanwhile, thousands of children have been put to work as well, according to The New Yorker, some of whom say they can’t remember the last time they could afford a meal. In order to keep them working, the kids are often even drugged with appetite suppressors.
Cleaning Up
In recent years, Chinese companies bought up most of the mines in south Congo, and have since imposed more regulations on the sites to keep miners safe. But rampant pollution from the mines have still left vast swathes of land uninhabitable, as lakes are poisoned and children and pregnant women are kept away for their own safety — and soldiers will routinely patrol cities with machine guns and rocket launchers to keep miners from sneaking in and claiming cobalt for themselves.
In the face of the economic and environmental destruction caused by cobalt mining, electric vehicle companies like Tesla will occasionally respond to public pressure to divest from the mineral and explore alternative battery tech. But while Tesla has pledged to move away from cobalt batteries, according to The New Yorker, it has yet to actually do so or even put out a plan detailing how it might even try to.

You know the old tagline: In space, no one can hear you scream. Unfortunately, being stuck on this rapidly warming rock of ours, we can hear everyone screaming just fine—especially those yowling about the particularities of space itself, ironically.
Last we checked in on our demoted pal, Pluto, it was still most certainly not a planet, despite a decade-and-a-half’s worth of grousing from overly invested astronomy fans (welcome to the world of pop culture, astronomy fans). And even though the man responsible for snatching away its designation in the first place tried to make it up to everyone recently, the fact remains that it is still highly unlikely the International Astronomical Union will backtrack on its 2006 decision.
Perhaps it’s the knowledge of this near hopeless case that recently prompted a group of scientists to apparently throw up their hands and give their go-for-broke demand of “Screw it. We don’t just want Pluto back, we want another 150 goddamn planets added to the list.”
That’s the gist of a new article published in the research journal Icarus, arguing that the IAU are the real jabronis here, goddamnit. As NBC News breaks it down, the team of scientists allege that the current planetary classification system is based more on outdated astrological (read: pseudoscientific) terminologies, and should be updated to reflect the modern age.
A “planet,” by their definition, is “any geologically active” body in space, which not only would rope Pluto back into the fold, but also moons like Europa, Enceladus and Titan, as well as the asteroid, Ceres. All in all, about 150 new “planets” to add to the existing eight.
Unfortunately, as planetary geologist Paul Byrne explained, all this back-and-forth about taxonomy often overshadows much of the other genuinely fascinating aspects about these celestial bodies of all sizes. “Every time I gave a talk and I put up a picture of Pluto, the first question was not about the planet’s geology, but why was it demoted?” he told NBC News. “That’s what stuck with people, and that’s a real shame.”
Don’t get us wrong; we’re sure these classifications matter for all kinds of research purposes. But it was hard enough to remember “My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas” as a child… God help the generation that needs to figure out a 150-letter mnemonic device.

The event that shook the city of Evora, Portugal, November 2, 1959. Evora’s creature was an extraterrestrial organism captured and analyzed 61 years ago in Portugal.
It all starts after the appearance of a UFO in the city. The director of the School of Industry and Commerce, Joaquim Guedes do Amaral, was at his daily work when his colleagues warned of a strange object flying over Evora.
Half an hour later, another UFO appeared, which could be described as something similar to a jellyfish.
This object swayed and moved across the sky at great speed, sometimes stopping and moving on. It eventually stopped, remaining steady in the air for about half an hour, before setting off further at high speed.
As soon as this happened, rare white gelatinous threads began to fall out throughout the territory. It almost completely cover everything with a thick white layer.
People were evacuated. The military and scientists from the University of Lisbon took samples of the strange organism. Despite the fact that its structure was fragile and difficult to assemble.
Analyzes have led to the conclusion that this is a single-celled organism, possibly a microbe with unknown characteristics. Where did it come from?
Evora’s strange creature
Within 4 hours, some strange white “web” fell. An acquaintance of Professor Joaquim Conceisao e Silva underwent aviation training at the base in Sintra. He also witnessed the events observed at the university.
All these phenomena were confirmed by the military, Conceisao and Silva. Years later, he became Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Air Force.
Professor Joaquin contacted his friend Eugenio, father of Conceicao, who was a member of the French Astronomical Society. They both ran tests on a strange substance that appeared to be a creature.
When the plates were placed for analysis, it turned out that the substance was showing resistance. Which is not typical for any known microorganism on Earth. From this study, a report was compiled that described the following:
“The microorganism Evora was about 4 mm in size, consisting of tentacles. Actively exhibits protective reactions to laboratory plates. Subsequent studies have shown that its tentacles can withstand pressures of up to 350 grams.
At the beginning of the observation, it had different colors. The central body was yellow, intensely red tentacles, at the same time the colors changed, giving a brownish yellow color. Which was getting darker and darker.

The tentacles was formed by parallel filaments connected by a gelatinous substance. Each thread was transparent. Inside, one could see little bodies that grew larger over time.

Origin hypothesis
A hypothesis put forward by several scientists and researchers was that Evora’s creature was “a strange creature completely unknown to terrestrial biology. This can be considered the first discovered evidence of extraterrestrial life. ”
The researchers who carefully examined this case by formulating this hypothesis were: Francisco Mouran Correa, coordinator of exopolitics of Portugal, Javier Sierra, several biologists and researchers of UFO phenomena.
Professors of the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon interrupted the studies of Professor Joaquim Amaral at the faculty, forced not to provide any information to the press.
In 1978, a fire broke out at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Lisbon, destroying evidence that the creature from Evora did exist. Mysteriously, the firefighters were unable to bring down the flames that had flared up close to the microorganism.
To date, it is not known what happened to the investigation, what or who the fire. And whether they were entrusted to another department. Everything seems to indicate that this is an attempt to silence an extraterrestrial phenomenon.

The SUV-sized rover touched down on Mars' Jezero Crater in February 2021, following a seven minutes of terror descent to the Martian surface.
In the 10 months since it arrived it has completed a number of firsts and records, according to NASA, which includes the longest drive in a Martian day.
To celebrate its achievements, the US space agency shared a video of the rover's highlights during 2021, and of what is to come in 2022.
Among those celebrations is the surprising success of the Ingenuity helicopter, a small rotorcraft that travelled with Perseverance to Mars to give it an aerial view.

Jessica Samuels, Perseverance surface operations mission manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, described it as a 'busy 10 months.'
'It has been a year of perseverance. From operating during Covid, to challenges with sampling, to interpreting scientific results, it is a fitting name for the vehicle, and for the team as well.' she said in a video shared by NASA.
Perseverance launched for the Red Planet in the summer of 2020, arriving months later in February 2021, and within weeks began observing the little helicopter.
It landed within the Jezero Crater, which is believed to have once been filled with a 1,600ft deep lake, according to NASA.
It is believed that the region hosted microbial life some 3.5 to 3.9 billion years ago and the rover will examine soil samples to hunt for evidence of the life.
One of the major achievements for the rover, nicknamed Perky, is speed - it has travelled 1.8 miles since it started, including going 385ft on July 1, 2021.
Perseverance has also been collecting samples of Martian rock, soil and atmosphere, that it stores in titanium tubes for a future mission to collect and bring to Earth.
To date it has collected six samples from Mars of a potential 43, with a selection set to be collected by a joint European and America mission sometime this decade.
NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter is now helping Perseverance on its search for signs of ancient life, but started its Martian journey as a technology demonstration.
Engineers wanted to see whether it would be viable to have an aerial component on a planetary mission, so sent the 4lb rotocraft to Mars, strapped to the belly of the Perseverance rover.

After completing a number of increasingly complicated test flights, and meeting all of its pre-defined targets, NASA began using it to look for sites for Perky to visit.
So far Ingenuity has completed 18 flights, with more scheduled for the next year.
Samuels says the next phase of Perseverance's mission will be to explore the delta that formed in Jezero Crater billions of years ago.
It is thought that this delta formed from sediment that an ancient river carried into the lake that once existed in the crater.
'It feels great to be a part of making history and enabling the start of a Mars Sample Return campaign,' said Samuels.
'What motivates us as engineers and scientists exploring another planet is the opportunity to learn more.'
A key objective for Perseverance's mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life.
The rover will characterise the planet's geology and past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and be the first mission to collect and cache Martian rock and regolith.
'One of my favourite moments was seeing our first rock core sample,' explained Samuels, particularly 'looking down in to the tube and seeing it was a success.
'We can't wait for the future mission to pick them up and take them to Earth and see if any of them show signs of ancient life.'
Samuels said another of her highlights of the year was working with the helicopter team and watching the first powered flight on another planet.
Ingenuity arrived on Mars attached to the belly of Perseverance, which touched down on Mars on February 18 after a nearly seven-month journey through space.
Ingenuity then performed its historic first flight on April 19, 2021, making history as the first powered controlled flight on any planet other than Earth.
In a nod to this feat, the helicopter carries a small amount of fabric that covered one of the wings of the Wright brothers' aircraft, known as the Flyer, during the first powered, controlled flight on Earth in 1903.
'Few thought we would make it to flight one, fewer still to five. And no one thought we would make it this far,' said Ingenuity team lead Teddy Tzanetos of JPL.
'On the way to accumulating over a half-hour aloft Ingenuity has survived eight months of bitter cold, and operated out of nine unique Martian airfields.
'The aircraft's continued operations speaks to the robustness the design and the diligence and passion of our small operations team.'
For the rovers core mission, to take samples of Martian soil, it failed in its first attempt on August 6, as the rock was softer than expected.
The latest sample, its sixth, comes from a rugged dune patch called 'Séítah,' the Navajo word meaning 'amongst the sand'.
The region includes a range of many-layered rocks, which the JPL team believe might be a sign of once flowing water.
'Layered rocks like this often form in water, and can hold clues about what their environment used to be like,' the space agency wrote on Twitter.

Perseverance is tasked with seeking traces of fossilised microbial life from Mars' ancient past and to collect rock specimens for return to Earth through future missions to the Red Planet.
The rover's turret-mounted scientific instruments are able to determine chemical and mineral composition and look for organic matter, as well as better characterise the planet's geological processes.

The $2.5 billion (£1.95 billion) Mars 2020 spaceship launched on July 30 with the rover and helicopter inside - and landed successfully on February 18, 2021.
Perseverance landed inside the crater and will slowly collect samples that will eventually be returned to Earth for further analysis.
A second mission will fly to the planet and return the samples, perhaps by the later 2020s in partnership with the European Space Agency.

As the new year arrived, NASA’s Jim Green prepared to say goodbye to the agency after four decades, including 12 years as the director of NASA’s planetary science division and the last three as its chief scientist.
And on his way out the door, according to the New York Times, Green is touting a plan to geoengineer Mars into a planet habitable for humans. Green’s plan, published in November, hinges on warming and thickening Mars’ atmosphere by using a giant magnetic shield between the Red Planet and the Sun, which would bring temperature and pressure levels above the point at which humans could walk on the surface without a space suit, without their blood boiling inside their bodies.
“It’s doable,” Green told the newspaper. “Stop the stripping, and the pressure is going to increase. Mars is going to start terraforming itself. That’s what we want: the planet to participate in this any way it can. When the pressure goes up, the temperature goes up.”
Needless to say, that’s a strong stance for a top NASA official.
Green says his plan could allow humans to begin growing plants on Mars and moving toward the possibility of long-term life away from Earth. He’s been obsessed with finding life on other planets for years and created the “confidence of life detection,” or CoLD, scale.
One of his obstacles, however, will be the planetary community, whom he says probably won’t be receptive to his ideas about tinkering with an entire planet. Back in 2018, Adler Planetarium astronomer and cofounder of the JustSpace Alliance advocacy group Lucianne Walkowicz argued in Slate that we’re likely to turn Mars’ surface into an ecological nightmare, given our track record at hastening climate change and strip mining disasters on Earth.
In addition, Walkowicz wasn’t even convinced terraforming is physically possible.
“Despite terraforming’s hold on the popular imagination, it remains solidly in the realm of fiction,” Walkowicz wrote at the time. “For one thing, Mars seems to lack the necessary reserves of carbon dioxide to pump up its atmosphere and warm it in the first place.”
To his credit, Green seems to have a level head on his shoulders about verifying life on other planets, and told the NYT he wants to make sure scientists are serious about any claim to have found even the smallest traces of it.
“A couple of years ago, scientists came out and said they’d seen phosphine in the atmosphere of Venus,” Green told the publication. “At the level they saw it, which was enormous, that led them to believe life was one of the major possibilities. On the CoLD scale, where seven is ‘we found life,’ it is ‘one.’ It didn’t even make it to ‘two.’ Stop screwing around with just crying wolf.”
Green leaves behind a legacy dusted with a voracious search for life, but it’s not clear whether his plans for terraforming Mars will ever actually come to fruition. As he leaves a well-staffed and funded organization, some of his ideas may live only in theory on the papers he publishes, and if that’s the case, not every scientist would be disappointed at a lack of results.
The year 2021 gave truth-seekers and alien hunters no shortage of mysteries to ponder. But it also gave them answers — from a hotly anticipated Pentagon report on military UFO sightings, to new insights on habitable exoplanets, to the truth about a so-called "alien signal" from the sun's nearest neighboring star. Here are 9 things we learned about aliens (and where to look for them) in 2021.
Documents leaked by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden conclusively prove that the United States has been ruled by a race of tall, white space aliens who also assisted the rise of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.
These revelations about our alien overlords might not cost you any sleep. But the part that should concern you a tad is that the UFO story was just published by the Fars News Agency, the English-language news service of Iran, a nation that may be very close to acquiring nuclear weapons.
This being a crazy conspiracy theory, naturally the Russians are behind it. The alleged alien invasion was revealed in an alleged report by Russia's FSB spy agency, which found "incontrovertible proof' that an 'alien/extraterrestrial intelligence agenda' is driving U.S. domestic and international policy, and has been doing so since at least 1945," said the Iranian news service.

Fars apparently got the story from a hard-core conspiracy site called whatdoesitmean.com. Here is the gist of the whatdoesitmean.com story as best I understand it (or as the alien mind-control lasers allow me to understand it):
Snowden, who has been given asylum in Russia, leaked documents that a race of extraterestrial "tall whites" arrived on Earth, helped Nazi Germany build a fleet of advanced submarines in the 1930s, and then met in 1954 with President Dwight Eisenhower "where the 'secret regime' currently ruling over America was established."
"Most disturbingly, this FSB report warns, is that the 'Tall White' agenda being implemented by the 'secret regime' ruling the United States calls for the creation of a global electronic surveillance system meant to hide all true information about their presence here on earth as they enter into what one of Snowden’s documents calls the 'final phase' of their end plan for total assimilation and world rule."
Meanwhile, the U.S. government is embroiled in a "cataclysmic" power struggle between President Obama, who heads the alien shadow government, and some unknown force that opposed the U.S.-alien alliance. "Most to be feared by Russian policy makers and authorities, this [FSB] report concludes, is if those opposing the 'Tall White' 'secret regime' ruled over by Obama have themselves aligned with another alien-extraterrestrial power themselves."
Any good conspiracy theory needs a patina of truth, a bit of intellectual cover to camouflage the craziness. In this case, the whatdoesitmean.com/Fars story cites Paul Hellyer, the 1960s Canadian defense minister who is now a fervent UFO activist.
This is almost a funny story, until one remembers that Iran is a moderately powerful nation of 76 million people, with a possible nuclear arsenal, relatively large conventional military power, extensive terrorist capabilities through its intelligence agencies and Hezbollah, and a fundamentalist government that could easily engage in hostilities against the U.S. Laugh if you will at conspiracy theories, but they offer explanatory value for their believers, a way of making sense of why things happen, even if it is a funhouse-mirror explanation of the world. The Fars News Agency is reportedly affiliated with Iran's influential Revolutionary Guards, which suggests that either Iran is either desperate to smear the U.S. any way it can, or there indeed is a very peculiar view of U.S. politics at the highest levels of the Iranian government.
If there is a bright spot to this as well as a funny bone, it's that the goal of U.S. policy is to contain and neutralize Iranian influence. So, perhaps it's not necessarily a bad thing that Tehran thinks its main adversary is backed by the power of space aliens. It's good to have friends in high places, even if they have two heads.

China’s first module of its upcoming Tiangong space station makes use of ion drives, technology that could vastly cut down the time it takes to travel to Mars — and greatly reduce the amount of fuel needed to make that trip, as the South China Morning Post reports.
The core of the Chinese new space station is powered by four ion thrusters, and along with added benefits of speeds, the technology also offers cheaper flights using electricity to accelerate ions instead of burning tons of chemical fuel. Along with saving at operational costs, it would also bring down the weight of the first module. In Not requiring tons of fuel, the spacecraft would have ample space for more cargo and more astronauts.
The module, called Tianhe and launched in late April, is powered by four ion thrusters that use electricity to accelerate ions as a form of propulsion. In fact, the module could soon become the first spacecraft in history to transport humans using the technolog, according to SCMP.
Ion drives are orders of magnitude more efficient compared to chemical propulsion. To keep the International Space Station in orbit for a year, the thrusters consume four tons of rocket fuel. With ion thrusters, it’d need just 400 kilograms to stay in orbit for the same amount of time, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Ion propulsion not used widely in space technology up until now has its reasons. The engineers have faced limitations earlier on to incorporate the tech into more spacecrafts. China seems like going beyond those limitations to make full use of the technology to better explore what space and the outer world have to offer.
A trip to Mars could be cut down from eight months to just 39 days.
China is betting big on ion thrusters, hoping to use them not just for its space station but for upcoming satellite constellations and nuclear-powered spacecraft capable of carrying astronauts to Mars as well, according to SCMP.
The technology has been around for decades, but mainstream adoption has been hampered by the fact that the thrust produced isn’t very significant. Scaling up the thrusters could end up putting astronauts in danger and shorten the lifespan of satellites.
But scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences may have cracked the code. One of its ion drives currently in development has been burning for more than 11 months straight, according to the newspaper.
A magnetic field makes sure the particles don’t create any damage or erode the engine, while a special ceramic material stops it from getting damaged by radiation.
“Space projects are usually very big,” an anonymous Beijing-based space scientist told SCMP. “A typical mission involves hundreds or even thousands of individuals. But the competition in space is essentially a competition over some very small but extremely important details.”
“The ion thruster is one of those areas where the devil is in the detail,” the scientist added.
