Scientist concludes: There is Evidence of Ancient Nuclear Weapons on Mars
“Mars xenon is found to match closely the component in the Earth’s atmosphere produced by Earth’s nuclear weapons programs, both hydrogen bomb testing and plutonium production, both of which involve large amounts of fission with fast neutrons. It is found that Mars xenon can be approximately by a mixture of 70% Nuclear Testing xenon, mixed with 30% natural Earth xenon, suggesting that Mars xenon was similar to Earth’s before a large nuclear event altered it dramatically.”
There are some things withing our solar system that completely challenge everything we know.
Mars is one of those places that’s really odd. For example, it has been found that the red planet has an unusually high concentration of Xenon 129 in its thin atmosphere.
As it turns out, Gas Isotope Xenon 129 is produced by NUCLEAR REACTIONS.
In addition to that huge mystery, researchers have found that the surface of Mars is covered excessively with uranium and thorium.
This has led some scientists like Dr. John Brandenburg to conclude that it’s very likely that TWO large ANOMALOUS nuclear explosions took place on Mars in the distant past.
In the paper Dr. Brandenburg argues: that Mars shows, “…based on new data, evidence that during this period of Earthlike climate, biological evolution produced, at length, a humanoid civilization leaving ruins at several sites, Cydonia Mensa and Galaxias Chaos being two sites most intensively investigated. Data from these sites formed the basis for the Cydonian Hypothesis (Brandenburg, DiPietro, and Molenaar, 1991) of an ancient, indigenous, approximately Bronze Age civilization on Mars.”
However, there are many scientists which disagree with Dr. Braneburg saying that there is a natural explanation by which the anomalous gasses and elements on Mars can be explained.
But Dr. Brandeburg firmly sticks with his theory saying that Xenon 129 on Mars is likely the product of a nuclear process rather than fractionation – a process in nature which could explain the presence of these elements.
It is well known that over time, a planet’s atmosphere can become heavily eroded, especially on Mars where there isn’t a strong magnetic field. When this occurs, lighter isotopes become more eroded than those heavier ones which ultimately results in the increase in heavier isotopes.
But Dr. Brandeburg says: “However, on Mars, whatever process disturbed the … isotopes made the lighter isotopes relatively more abundant than heavier ones. This requires a predominantly nuclear process rather than mass fractionation…”
Dr. Brandenbrug concluded –after going through available data on Mars— that at least two massive airborne explosions occurred with fusion devices similar in design to those on Earth.
Dr. Brandenburg explains how Xenon 129 is produced in devices on Earth:
“In order to boost the yield of a hydrogen bomb, the bomb casing is typically made of uranium 238 or thorium. Accordingly, Xenon 129 is produced only in small amounts by normal fission, but in a conventional hydrogen bomb explosion it is produced in large amounts.”
Furthermore, Dr. Bradenburg looked at the distributional patterns of uranium and thorium on the surface of the red planet and had concluded that they are CONSISTENT with nuclear explosions which were centered on TWO specific points on the planet.
“The high concentration of Xe in the Martian atmosphere is a unique feature of Mars atmosphere and differs starkly from the isotopic mass spectrum of xenon elsewhere in the solar system. This feature is found both in the isotopic spectra seen by landers and also that seen in Mars Meteorites,” concluded Dr. Brandenburg.
Dr. Brandenburg indicates that it is very likely that these two MASSIVe nuclear explosions occurred on Mars some 180 million years ago. Both of these nuclear attacks could have triggered a global catastrophe that changed Mars from a fertile and Earth-like planet to a barren ande deserted world we see today.

Physicist Dr John Brandenburg says there is evidence for two nuclear explosions on Mars These apparently wiped out two races - the Cydonians and Utopians.

A group of UFOlogists and historians said that they plan to unveil a massive archive of records related to the phenomenon in New Mexico in the coming years.
David Marler, a historian and UFO researcher, said that the group’s archive will be located in a facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The facility will house documents related to the UFO phenomenon that were collected by various researchers. Some of these include Rod Dyke, Jan Aldrich, and Rob Swiatek.
The facility will also house the files of the J. Allen Hynek Center, which was established in 1990 and is dedicated to investigating the UFO phenomenon. Following the transfer of files by Mark Rodeghier, the center’s director, to Marler in November 2020, the personal files of the scientist, who was the Air Force’s scientific advisor on the matter, were included in the collection.
Currently, Marler is in possession of files that used to be handled by the National Investigative Committee on Aerial Phenomena, which used to be the largest organization in the country focused on investigating the UFO phenomenon. He also noted that various private UFO collections have been promised to the facility within the next couple of years.
The group noted that the files they have gathered will help them in carrying out further research regarding the UFO phenomenon. They also hope to provide an accurate historical record of the event.
During an interview with The Debrief, Marler praised the increasing interest in the UFO phenomenon. He also noted that the public’s newfound interest in the subject has helped improve the research regarding the matter.

He has been using the Freedom of Information Act to gather information about the phenomenon for several decades.
According to Greenwood, the release of these files is the culmination of many years of work by people who have been trying to collect information about the UFO phenomenon. He noted that if the organization can make an effort to scan the materials and distribute them in various parts, it can be used around the world.
Greenwood noted that the release of these files is a significant historical event. He said that during the time he was trying to collect information about the UFO phenomenon, he and other researchers were restricted to only accessing files in the US and Canada.
Marler agreed with Greenwood’s statements and noted the importance of making available historical records related to investigations related to the UFO phenomenon.

He noted that various government agencies and scientific organizations are starting to acknowledge the legitimacy of the phenomenon. In recent days, an organization dedicated to astronautics and aeronautics announced the launch of a community of interest that was led by Ryan Graves, a former fighter pilot for the US Navy.
According to Marler, the various organizations and individuals who have been expressing their interest in the UFO phenomenon have started to acknowledge the historical significance of the subject. He noted that the language in the upcoming FY 2023 NDAA is also starting to address this issue.
Marler noted that the organization’s goal is to establish an archival center that would be able to collect and digitize all of the historical records related to the UFO phenomenon. He said that the location of the facility would be based in Albuquerque, which has a strong historical relationship with the subject.

Through his organization, Marler has also started to establish collaborations with other organizations, such as the University of New Mexico. These collaborations could allow the university’s students to participate in the digitization and collection management of the UFO files.
To support the establishment of the facility, the organization has established an official website, where the public can contribute to its efforts to provide a home for the records.
According to Marler, there is currently no National Archives of Ufology in the US. He and his colleagues are working toward establishing a facility that would be able to house the largest UFO archive in the country.

The surface of the Earth is about 70% water, but water is just a tiny percentage of the planet’s mass. That makes many scientists wonder if water was always part of Earth’s composition or if it could have been brought here from somewhere else. And if it was, how did it get here? A space rock that landed in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, in the UK last year may be able to provide the answer. Could a meteorite have kickstarted the formation of water on Earth long before that term was confiscated by people looking for money?

“Carbonaceous chondrites are incredibly reactive and rapidly degrade in Earth's atmosphere, changing their original mineralogy and composition. But for Winchcombe, it had almost no time to react with Earth's environment, so we know that everything inside it is 100 percent extraterrestrial including the 10 percent water it contains.”
Dr. Luke Daly from the University of Glasgow is one of the authors of “The Winchcombe meteorite, a unique and pristine witness from the outer solar system,” a study of this special watery space rock published recently in Science Advances. He explained to IFL Science that there is a variation of the five-second rule – the popular but scientifically questionable urban legend that food dropped on the floor has a five-second window before it starts picking up harmful bacteria or germs – for meteorites … the sooner they are recovered after impact, the less chance they will pick up contamination from the Earth’s surface or have their internal chemistry break down.
“The Winchcombe fireball occurred at 21:54:16 (UT) on 28 February 2021 and was recorded by 16 dedicated meteor cameras (fig. S1 and table S1). The fireball was also captured on numerous doorbell and dashcam videos, and there were >1000 eyewitness accounts and reports of a sonic boom to the International Meteor Organization (IMO) and UK Meteor Observation Network (UKMON). The main mass (319.5 g) of the meteorite was discovered the next day in the town of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, UK.”
In fact, it was found in the driveway of Rob and Cathryn Wilcock. (Photos of the rock and its fragments and dust can be seen here.) Because it was so well tracked and the Wilcocks reported finding it so quickly, researchers were able to be at the location within 12 hours and, using rubber gloves, collect the largest piece as well as piles of nuggets and powder and place them in sealed polyethylene bags. The largest piece of the Winchcombe meteorite was the Wilcocks’ 11.2 ounce chunk. Another large 152 gram (5.3 ounce) piece was found on a farm on March 6. All told, 531.5 grams (18.7 5 ounces) of material was recovered less than 7 days after the meteorite fell – a period of no rainfall. Most space rock researchers agree with what planetary scientist Ashley King of London’s Natural History Museum told Science News:
“It’s as pristine as we’re going to get from a meteorite. Other than it landing in the museum on my desk, or other than sending a spacecraft up there, we can’t really get them any quicker or more pristine.”
King led the research on the meteorite – the team polished the material, heated it, and blasted it with electrons, X-rays and lasers. to figure out what elements and minerals it contained. This helped them determine it is a very type of rare, carbon-rich carbonaceous chondrite meteorite called a CM chrondite. By analyzing the videos – from doorbell cams to tracking by the UK Fireball Alliance of 16 meteor-watching cameras around the world – they were able to map its trajectory and determine the rock came from a larger asteroid near the orbit of Jupiter, breaking off about 300,000 years ago. That is a short trip in meteor terms, which adds to the special nature of this rock. As Dr. Luke Daly noted, the meteorite was 10-11 percent water by weight. That H2O was locked in hydrated minerals and the hydrogen was in the form of deuterium, with the ratio of hydrogen to deuterium in the meteorite being close to that of the Earth’s atmosphere. that find was the “Ah ha!” moment for Ashley King.
“It’s a good indication that water [on Earth] was coming from water-rich asteroids.”
But wait … there’s more! The space rocks also contained amino acids and other organic materials.
“These are the building blocks for things like DNA. (They) don’t contain life, but they have the starting point for life locked up in them.”
King has now planted two seeds – water on Earth came from somewhere else, and life on Earth could also have dropped in on a chunk from an asteroid. That makes this the Wilcocks’ rock even more special … and it just keeps getting better. Daly told IFL Science that the rock to land in Winchcombe was extremely lucky to have survived the trip through the atmosphere. because carbonaceous chondrites are extremely crumbly.
"The meteorite before it hit Earth's atmosphere was really small, only originally about the size of a basketball, and if it had come it at a slightly different angle or slightly slower or faster would have completely burnt up in the atmosphere."
According to the Natural History Museum press release, besides the 11 percent water and 2 percent carbon, the meteorite was made up of phyllosilicates, clay-rich minerals that are promising candidates for hosting and preserving evidence of organic matter. The Winchcombe meteorite has no evidence of life, but it landed with organic molecules such as lipids and fatty acids. It also brought other materials -- hydrocarbons, metals such as iron, titanium and aluminium, and trapped noble gases like neon.

In a sense, the Winchcombe meteorite being picked up with the 12-hour-rule accomplished in a day what the probes to asteroids Ryugu and Bennu took years to accomplish – bring back pristine samples of asteroids as they existed billions of years ago when the solar system was first created. The Winchcombe sample will soon be compared to those samples. Ashley King expressed to Science News why this is so exciting:
“We only know where less than one percent of meteorites we have studied come from, so Winchcombe represents an important find. When we study meteorites with known origins, we can find out what the mineralogy and chemistry of their parent bodies are like.”
We could be close to determining where Earth’s water came from … and that could potentially tell us where Earth’s life came from – or at least where the building blocks originated from. If you find something unusual in your driveway (other than what the dogwalker left), it pays to pick it up with rubber gloves, put it in a bag and save it. It could be the answer to one of life’s biggest questions. Just remember the 12-hour rule.

I was leaving my farm going to where I live about 2 miles away headed south about 9-10 pm on November 9th 2022 in the South Southwestern sky about approximately 40° and 500+ or - feet in altitude. I viewed what appeared to be a yellow/redish round light about the size of a softball with blue to red to white blinking light underneath. It appeared to vanish after 4-5 seconds then reappear after about 5 seconds this happened 5 times the 2nd time there were 2 next to each other, the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th time there was only one. I saw the first while driving then pulled over to video with my phone saw 2 next to each other as I was getting ready to video, was able to video the 3rd and 4th, after about 10-15 seconds after the 4th, I got back in my vehicle to leave and saw the 5th while driving home. I didn't hear anything because of my truck running. My wife was in her vehicle about a quarter of a mile ahead of me and didn't stop.
When I got home, about 5 minutes later I asked my wife if she saw anything? She said yes, what was it? I asked her what did it look like? She said a yellowish/red light that appeared and disappeared. She saw it twice, once while on the road that I was on and again while looking out our front door of our house. We viewed the videos I took and she said that's what I saw! I see things in the sky frequently being on the farm way in the country, this is the latest that I've got on camera, but not the strangest. I am willing to talk about them.

The owner of the sheep said it started with just a few sheep before more joined. The perplexing spectacle has left people shocked and confused as they try to make sense of the strange behavior of the animals. Ms. Miao said it started with just a few sheep before other members of the flock joined in.
What causes a sheep to go in circles?
The probably cause of the strange behavior of the sheep is a disease called Listeriosis which is a common bacterium/infection caused by spoiled food, inflames one side of an animal's brain and leads to the creature exhibiting strange behavior such as walking in circles. Recovery is rare, but is possible with early aggressive antibiotic treatment and supportive care of the affected animals.

This took place back on 9/2/22 at 5:45pm, at Dreamland in Dripping Springs, TX looking almost due north. Saw this very bright object in the sky at a significant distance, it appeared to be above the spare clouds. Hung in the exact same location for 20+ minutes with absolutely no movement and then disappeared. Video from an s21 ultra, zoomed in to max 20x then back out to show distance. The flag in the foreground was massive, maybe 30′ long. I was originally going to post this the day after it happened but it kept giving me an error.

Navy Arctic UFO Photos Allegedly Leaked By Anonymous Source

Several impressive photos of alleged UFOs over the Artic Northern Atlantic Ocean captured on camera by the Navy in 1971 have been leaked to UFO researchers, and their discovery has gotten worldwide media attention. UFO researcher Alex Mistretta claims that the images were originally given to him by an anonymous source in Europe claiming photos were from USS Trepang. Later, he discovered that they were also published in a French paranormal magazine called Top Secret.’ Except for blue clor the rest of photos seem untouched .

To further investigate, Mistretta enlisted the help of John Greenewald, who runs the website TheBlackVault.com. He asked Greenewald to post the pictures in hopes that Greenewald and others may be able to find out more about the images.
After posting the story, it began getting international headlines. A Reddit user that goes by the name SqizCat was also able to find higher resolution copies of the images.
The images are fantastic. They seem to be of large objects aloft over the ocean, some, if not all, taken from the periscope of a submarine. The big question is are they real, and if so, what are they?

You can clearly see in the “UFO Photos” above, the ‘cross hairs’ of the periscope, along with the indicator lines. Here is an example above, and they are seen in nearly every photograph. Although this does not prove it was a weapons test, and if the object was a target balloon, it could support both sides of this story .(i.e.: taken from a submarine, and taken while the submarine was submerged.)

The photos below show an object of large dimension that exits or falls into the ocean. These pictures seem to come from another laboratory, SYGMA, about which we know nothing. Do these photos present a single and same event or are we dealing with two different events?
(Top photo) The craft, which looks a lot like the one in the first picture, seems to be in trouble and appears to be on fire? Does it come from the depths of the ocean or is it headed there? Despite the fact that its form perfectly resembles the typical “cigar” shape of UFOs, it is still impossible to distinguish more details of its structure.
(Bottom photo) According to the letter from our “anonymous contact,” the submarine was equipped with an analog camera, thus explaining the image overlay (or double exposure?) of the visible graduations (I’m assuming they’re talking about the double crosshairs.)

The craft appears to be shot down probably with a missile. If these are real UFOs it is very unlikely the Admiral and Captain would admit to destroying an above Top Secret SCI alien craft. Ships are normally commanded by the rank of Captain or lower. Rear Admirals are commanders, of Submarine Groups and squadrons of submarines. It is possible a Rear Admiral would be assigned to destroy unidentified alien craft. A whole series of surface to air missiles were developed that could have been fired from submarines. The area USS Trepang in 1971 was operating in has frequent UFO reports. The Investigation
In his email to John Greenewald, Jr. at The Black Vault, Mistretta listed below what his anonymous source who likely took the photos told him.
The photos were taken from a United State Navy submarine.
The location was between Iceland and Jan Mayen island in the Atlantic Ocean. (Jan Mayen belongs to Norway and is only inhabited by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the Norwegian military.)
They were taken in March of 1971.
The Submarine was the Navy’s USS Trepang (SSN 674) and the Admiral on board was Dean Reynolds Sackett. Obviously, the next step is to try and locate this Admiral. The Submarine came upon the object by “accident,” as they were in the region on a routine joint military and scientific expedition. Officer John Klika was the one who initially spotted the object with the periscope. Major Filer briefed Generals about UFOs and when others asked them about UFOs, they denied any knowledge.
Greenewald looked into these claims and he says that he found that Admiral Sackett was onboard the USS Trepang at the time listed. He also found that Officer Kilka was also aboard. Further, he found that the USS Trepang was in the area the source claimed at the time the pictures were allegedly taken. The triangle craft obviously is not a balloon.
Admiral Dean R Sackett
Steve spoke with the Admiral Dean R Sackett and I have been in touch with John Klika, both named by the source who released the pictures as principal participants in this saga. Both men were indeed on the Trepang SSN 674, in March of 1971 in the Arctic. Admiral Sackett denied seen anything unusual while onboard the Trepang, although UFOs are highly classified and he would be instructed to deny seeing anything. He gracefully took two phone calls from Steve and checked out the pictures that we sent him privately. He could not identify what was in the pictures. John Klika also confirmed that he was also on the SSN Trepang in March of 1971, but told me that neither himself nor anyone else saw anything unusual while in the Arctic. He found the investigation interesting reading. Both men said they don’t know what the pictures are and imply they could have been taken by someone who had access to the periscope, or even from a different sub.

Greenewald stated, I feel confident in saying the Trepang was not involved in the taking of the photographs. The photographs remain a mystery, and this investigation is far from over. The veracity, or lack off, of the photographs themselves is partly removed from the location and said provenance. They may be authentic and highly unseal, or they may be more mundane objects that in time I will identify. Furthermore, there is the issue of provenance, which is unknown. Are they really from the Arctic, and from an American sub? On the later point, there was another sub in the region, just a month before the Trepang, and that is the USS Skate USN 578. Ergo, the investigation continues.
Mistretta wrote: “[Kilka] found the investigation interesting reading, and doesn’t know what the pictures represent. I believe them. “I feel confident in saying the Trepang was not involved in the taking of the photographs.”
Although Mistretta now believes his source’s information to be inaccurate, Greenewald found clues that indicate the images may still be real, albeit not extraterrestrial.
Greenewald says, “When I first saw these, I noted there was something very Zeppelin-like about some of the photos, but, unlike the actual Zeppelin’s, it did not have a carrier for the occupants.”
By researching the USS Trepang’s whereabouts, he also found this on the site Hullnumber.com: “From 22 February to 22 March [1971], the nuclear attack submarine operated beneath the northern ice cap, conducting extensive tests to provide data for her weapons systems, as well as carrying out scientific experiments concerning the movement, composition, and geological history of the cap itself.”
This led him to research test balloons. He searched the Library of Congress and found images of test balloons that look similar to what is in some of the images.

The Naval gunnery balloons have a distinctive shape with protruding tails for stabilization. Airships, dirigibles, and target balloons all have various protrusions for control and these photos do not.
First, let me say that John Greenewald’s The Black Vault long has concluded that these photographs did not depict UFOs. I believe (and still) they the photographs probably are real (or most of them are) and probably depict Naval Weapon tests and targets. But we have to keep in mind that these photographs were originally put onto the internet, given to research by Alex Mistretta, after being scanned from the French magazine.
Greenewald’s discovery makes it possible, that the images are from test balloons being fired upon by Navy submarines. The images he found were from the early 1900s, so the question remains as to whether similar balloons were still being used in the 70s. Given the misinformation that accompanied the images in the first place, it is also possible they are Photo shopped hoaxes.
Although the media has picked up on the story, few, if any, have mentioned the investigation work done by Mistretta, Greenewald, and Murillo. By leaving out this part of the story, they leave out the fact that many UFO researchers are more than just wild-eyed believers as the media often portrays.

Sea-to-Air Guided Missile System for U212A (IDAS)
How do submarines defend themselves against air threats? With IDAS they are able to fire guided missiles from under water. Also original designs of cruise missile submarines could launch from underwater via dedicated vertical launching system (VLS) tubes.
Guided Missile System for Submarines
The IDAS (Interactive Defense and Attack System for Submarines) guided missile system provides submarines with a self-defense capability against airborne threats. These threats may, for example, originate from helicopters which are equipped with torpedoes for antisubmarine warfare (ASWAnti-Submarine Warfare).
This purely national project now aims at integrating a guided missile system which can be launched from the submarine and allows the crew of a submerged submarine to defend themselves against ASWAnti-Submarine Warfare aircraft.
Submerged Launch Capability and Flight Control
The core capabilities of this innovative system include the ability to launch a missile from a submerged submarine and the missile’s ability to be interactively controlled and guided by the operator during its entire flight. To that end, the data connection between guided missile and submarine is also maintained during the flight via an optical fiber.

Afterwards, the target data are displayed on the operator’s tactical console.

In a next step, the guided missile is hydraulically ejected from the torpedo tube. Once its motor has ignited at a safe distance from the submarine, the missile starts moving in the direction of the target under water. At this point, it is already possible to change direction in order to engage the target from the side or from behind. Thanks to a booster, the guided missile breaks the water surface and rises to cruising altitude. The guided missile’s wings are unfolded for flight control. This model was first tested in 2006, however attack subs have long needed a similar system that could be used against low-flying UFOs. We do not know if this type of system was available in 1971.

A similar missile could be launched when a UFO has sighted through the periscope.
The Interactive Defense and Attack System for Submarines (IDAS) is a submarine-launched, lightweight, multi-role, fiber-optic guided missile system being developed for the German and other partner navies.
This weapon is designed to provide improved self-defense and asymmetric warfare capabilities for submerged cruising submarines. It enables the submarines to engage threats from anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters, surface vessels and pre-selected coastal targets.
A prototype of the IDAS missile system performed its maiden flight from an underwater test facility in Northern Germany in 2006. It was successfully launched from the German Navy’s class 212A submarine in the Baltic Sea in 2008. It is possible the pictures depict a shootdown of an alien craft by some sort of guided missile, early laser or direct energy weapons.

LONDON (Reuters) – Two U.S. fighter planes were scrambled and ordered to shoot down an unidentified flying object (UFO) over the English countryside during the Cold War, according to secret files made public This photo depicts a possible UFO sighting as reported by the Journal of Scientific Exploration.
One pilot said he was seconds away from firing 24 rockets at the UFO, which moved erratically and gave a radar reading like “a flying aircraft carrier.” The pilot, Milton Torres, now 77 and living in Miami, said it spent periods motionless in the sky before reaching estimated speeds of more than 7,600 mph (12,000 kph).
After the alert, a shadowy figure told Torres he must never talk about the incident and he duly kept silent for more than 30 years. His story was among dozens of UFO sightings in defense ministry files released at the National Archives in London. In a written account, Torres described how he scrambled his F-86 D Sabre jet in calm weather from the Royal Air Force base at Manston, Kent in May 1957.

“I was only a lieutenant and very much aware of the gravity of the situation. I felt very much like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest,” he said. “The order came to fire a salvo of rockets at the UFO. The authentication was valid and I selected 24 rockets. “I had a lock-on that had the proportions of a flying aircraft carrier,” he added. “The larger the airplane, the easier the lock-on. This blip almost locked itself. “At the last moment, the object disappeared from the radar screen and the high-speed chase was called off.
He returned to base and was debriefed the next day by an unnamed man who “looked like a well-dressed IBM salesman. ”He threatened me with a national security breach if I breathed a word about it to anyone,” he said.
. Torres said. “I shall never forget it,” he told the Times. “On that night I was ordered to open fire even before I had taken off. That had never happened before.”

Shoot Them Down
During the summer of 1952, Americans reported a record amount of UFO sightings to Project Blue Book and Frank Feschino, Jr. has written a book about the sightings. He takes the reader on a journey through Blue Book’s “Unknown” cases and other UFO reports. He focuses on the encounters between fighter planes and UFOs with an in-depth historical account of the United States military’s “shoot down” orders.
This is the most accurate documentation of these events with 90 photos, maps and illustrations. The book encompasses the summer of 1952, where there was numerous aerial encounters that occurred between US fighter aircraft and UFOs.
On July 28, 1952, an Air Force information officer stated “The jet pilots are and have been under orders to investigate unidentified objects and shoot them down if they can’t talk them down. Air Force pilots are on 24 hour alert against flying saucers to shoot them down if they refuse to land.”
“We Have Lost Many Men and Planes Trying To Intercept UFOs”

Timothy Good writes, “The destruction or disappearance of military aircraft during interceptions of UFOs continued apace.” As General Benjamin Chidlaw, former commanding general of Air (later Aerospace) Defense Command told Robert C. Gardener (ex USAF) in 1953: “We have stack of reports of flying saucers. We take them seriously, when you consider we have lost many men and planes trying to intercept them.” Leonard Stringfield, the former Air Force intelligence officer was told by a reliable source in the 1950s that the “Air Force was losing about a plane a day to the UFOs. According to US Defense Department figures, from 1952 until the end of October 1956, there were 18,662 major accidents of military aircraft, broken down as follows:

In October 1947, Chidlaw became deputy commanding general of Air Materiel Command, with rank of lieutenant general, on September 1, 1949. General Chidlaw was given the task to evaluate UFO sightings and his group agreed the phenomena was real and viable and should be researched. his team His team attempted to develop their own flying discs using the Roswell crash debris that were stored at Wright Field. On July 29, 1951, he received his fourth star and the command of the Air Defense Command at Ent Air Force Base, Colorado. Most fighter interceptors were under his command and each Air Force base had a UFO Officer who could launch fighters if UFOs were in the area.

When I chased a UFO we exceeded the red lined aircraft air speed by 20 knots. In the excitement of the chase it is easy to exceed aircraft capabilities and often some part of the aircraft may fail. Many stories are told of firing missiles and making direct hits on the UFOs that were unharmed only to have them return fire and destroy the interceptor.

One well known example of aircraft loses to a UFO was the F-89 with tail number 51-5853A, piloted by 1st Lt. Felix Moncla Jr, with Second Lt. Robert L. Wilson as the Radar Intercept Officer. I spoke with a radar operator who worked in the Air Defense Command radar site on November 23, 1953. During the evening, radar picked up an unidentified target over Lake Superior and alerted the 433rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Truax Field, in Wisconsin. Lt. Moncla in his F-89 C all-weather interceptor was scrambled and instructed to intercept the target. The F-89 diving steeply down intercepted the target at 8,000 feet, and radar operators watched as the “blips” of the UFO and the F-89 merged on their scopes, in an apparent collision, and disappeared. No trace of the plane was ever found. You can visit Lt. Moncla’s memorial headstone at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Moreauville, Louisiana.

Peru – Crashed UFO Was Hit by Something

Weygandt, who was part of the Disclosure Project, was sent to Peru in March 1997, to provide perimeter security for a radar installation that he was told tracked drug traffic aircraft in Peru and Bolivia. He states, “About midnight, while I was on guard duty, Sergeant Allen and Sergeant Atkinson told me, an aircraft crashed, and they need us to go and secure the crash site.” Early that morning we drove six Hummers close to the crash site just when it started to get light. Well, we found the area easy because there was a huge gash in the land where something had crashed. Everything was burned and it was as if something had almost cut warm butter with a knife. It was like something on fire or had energy like a laser had cut it. It was strange. I was in the front with Sergeant Allen and Sergeant Atkinson, and we were ten or twenty meters ahead of everyone else. We were the first ones to see this thing. It had gone up the hill and then off in the side of the ravine and ridge. This was a 200-foot ridge of solid rock. A huge craft was buried at a 45-degree angle in the side of the cliff there at the ridge. It was straight up and down. ‘
Craft Was Severely Damaged by high Explosives
The craft was dripping a greenish-purple syrup-like liquid. The liquid was everywhere and fluctuated like it was alive and changing to a different shade of greenish purple. The craft was humming like a bass guitar and had a slowly turning light. Most of the craft seemed buried into the cliff but vents, like a fish gill were on the back.
The liquid got on my clothes and ate holes in them and burned off some the hair on my arms. There were three holes in the ship that may have been hatches that were not flush with the main body of the craft. There was another hatch the same width and diameter of the top hatch and it was kind of crooked to the side and it was half-open. I didn’t see any lights or anything coming out of it, but I felt this… presence. It is strange. I think the creatures calmed me. It was weird and I think they were trying to communicate with me, like, I guess, telepathically. The Corporal estimated the craft was ten meters in width and about 20 meters in length and shaped like something between an egg and a teardrop. The skin of the craft had bumps and notches and appendages on it. It was organic and almost like art. It looked like something that could be made in a shop. It looked like it could have been handmade but out of what materials I do not know. It was nothing like titanium. It looked like metal but there was no reflection. The sun was shining on it, and I could see the different shades of the craft and it didn’t reflect anything. Suddenly the Sergeants were yelling at me to get the hell out of there.
After we climbed back up, the Department of Energy people were there. They knew about it, so I don’t know why we went there still to this day. But anyway, I was arrested and cuffed, both hands down. I had all my gear taken from me by men in black cammies who threatened me, subdued me, and put me on a cot. They had no nametags. At the crash site there were about thirty of these guys wearing hazard suits.
Patriot Missile
John Weygandt I had been told craft were flying in and out of the atmosphere as much as ten plus per week. When you have objects that reenter the atmosphere, then stop on a dime, then turn around, and go exactly the opposite direction – that is somewhat strange. Meteors don’t do that. The craft was not from Earth. I knew that when I looked at it. I wondered if these facilities were built for the intent to track UFO’s and their cover was to track drug carrying aircraft. They had laser range finders and all kinds of high-tech stuff that I have never seen before.
Patriot is a long-range, all-altitude, all-weather air defense system.
Patriot system detects, tracks, and engages UAVs, cruise missiles, and short-range or tactical ballistic missiles. and perhaps UFOs. They [the laser range finders] looked like big telescopes and some sort of Command Center was manned by a multi –national force. So, these craft were tracked from this radar and were logged. I’m confident that when I saw the aircraft, it had been hit by something. Something had taken it out.

He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He oversaw the successful Allied occupation of postwar Japan and commanded United Nations forces during the first year of the Korean War.

UFOs Collect Electrical Energy
UFOs appear to have overcome gravity based on their ability to maneuver, tremendous speed, and ability to launch into space. It takes an enormous amount of electrical energy to directly deform the gravity tidal force curvature field! Indeed it takes 4 billion tons of mass energy equivalents to make a 1-fermi change in the local radius of curvature! Measurements of the power coming from some UFOs indicate they have the electrical energy equivalent to a power plant that would provide electrical power for a small city. UFOs are frequently seen hovering above power lines, power plants and electrical thunderstorms. We can speculate they use the electrical energy to overcome gravity.
The study of UFOs propulsion system will lead to new forms of energy. High speed UFOs are frequently reported as leaving a green trail indicating they are using hydrogen in their propulsion system. We should consider to act upon General Douglas Mac Arthur’s final order to the cadets at West Point “Harness the cosmic energy” in Duty, Honor, Country.

The pharaohs exchange the pyramids for the Valley of the Kings
On November 26, 1922, the English Egyptologist Howard Carterpeered anxiously through a small hole he had made minutes before in that intact door.
Behind it was the antechamber in which the objects of the funerary trousseau of King Tutankhamun were piled up. To the anxious question of Lord Carnarvon, his companion and patron, if he could see anything in the dim light of the candle, Carter only said: “Yes, wonderful things.”
Three days later, the official opening of the tomb took place before illustrious personalities, privileged witnesses of what many already described as the most important archaeological discovery of the century.
The place that had served as an eternity abode for the pharaohs of the New Kingdom was regaining its leading role in history.
The necropolis was carved out of the mountainous slopes of the west bank of the Nile, facing present-day Luxor. The ancient Egyptians called this space “the place of the gods west of Thebes”.
Inaugurated by the kings of the 18th dynasty, it remained active until the end of the 20th dynasty. Its origin, its expansion and its final abandonment were a reflection of funerary customs developed throughout one of the most splendid periods of Egypt.
The location, architecture and decoration of the tombs are loaded with important magical-religious symbolism.
In search of eternity
The tomb was the most important work in the life of the ancient Egyptian, in which he invested all his efforts. It was not only the place that would house his remains, but it was conceived as a sacred space from which to achieve his survival in the afterlife.
This belief was based on the idea of overcoming death as a continuous and eternal rebirth.
However, the destiny reserved for the king of Egypt was very different from the one that the rest of the mortals were going to enjoy.
While for these the afterlife was an idyllic reproduction of earthly Egypt, which they entered after successfully passing the Judgment of Osiris, the pharaoh’s destiny was in heaven, together with the gods.
The king’s death was only the beginning of his regeneration, and the tomb was the architectural setting in which it would take place. The deceased king would ascend to heaven and merge with the sun disk.
The New Kingdom monarch was strongly assimilated to the god Osiris. This, king of the gods, was killed and brought back to life thanks to the magic of his wife Isis, then becoming the sovereign of the kingdom of the dead.
The entrance of the deceased king into his tomb is the entrance to the underworld dominated by Osiris, from which he will emerge regenerated like the sun at dawn. The delicate balance between the solar and Osiriac elements will characterize the tombs of the Valley.
The valley is born
Work on the tomb of a king was undertaken immediately after his coronation, under the orders of a high official or the vizier. Once the death of the monarch had occurred, there were only 70 days, once the embalming process had been completed, to finalize the details of the transfer of the mummy and to install the funerary trousseau.
The kings who inaugurated the 18th dynasty chose as their burial place an area of the Theban mountain dominated by a spectacular pyramid-shaped peak sculpted by erosion.
The choice of the place was determined by its proximity to the city of Thebes, named the new capital of Egypt. Throughout the New Kingdom, the Theban area arose as a great sacred space where both shores were closely related.
The eastern one housed the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Meanwhile, in the west, the most important necropolises of the period were excavated: The Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and the Valley of the Nobles.
The funerary temples, where the cult of the deceased king was celebrated, were separated for the first time from the tomb and were built on the same shore, but in the plain area.
The royalty had chosen to excavate their tombs in the prehistoric valleys of the desert, sheltered by the two goddesses who protected the place: Hathor, “the lady of the west”, and Meretseger, “the one who loves silence”.
The steep slopes and high cliffs were the perfect setting to recreate the new funerary conceptions that would be put into practice throughout the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt.
The kings ordered the work of their tombs to specialized workers. This was the origin of the artisan village of the “Place of Truth”, the current Deir el-Medina, a few kilometers from the Valley.
They were excellent stonemasons, specialists in cutting limestone strata and finding solutions to unexpected problems. Tombs like Hatshepsut’s show how they must have altered the direction of the tunnels because of the rock.
The frenetic activity in the Valley forced a strong organization of the workers, who organized themselves into two teams of 70 men each, working 10 days for one party.
The royal tomb underwent constant evolution throughout the New Kingdom, paralleling the religious development imposed by each dynasty.
This evolution was carried out according to the location and the design was simplified, but the size was enlarged and the decoration was increased.
The paths of the sun
On the occasion of the pharaoh’s death, the funeral procession transported the king from the eastern bank of Thebes to the western one.
As the sun sank below the horizon, the royal mummy reached the mountain and descended into the Valley of the Kings, making the same circuit as the setting sun.
Thus began the search for the regeneration of the deceased king linked to the destiny of the sun god Ra. The royal tomb became the architectural space that reproduced Ra’s journey through the underworld of Osiris.
That is why the type of tomb chosen was also underground, excavated in the rock, something that the kings of the Seventeenth Dynasty had already experienced for the first time. The type of pyramid tomb inspired solely by solar conceptions was definitively abandoned.
From the entrance of the tomb to the chamber of the sarcophagus, the pharaoh would follow the same path as the sun. Crossing the threshold, there was a sequence of corridors and stairs that reproduced the daily course of the sun during the day and night.
Each corridor was called the path of the sun (“first path of the sun, second path of the sun”…).
The first tombs of the 18th dynasty accentuated Osiris’ symbolism. They were conceived as entrances to the depths of the underworld, carving out steeply sloping corridors into the heart of the mountain.
The tomb of Queen Hatshepsut, the longest in the Valley with its more than two hundred meters, acquires a drop of almost one hundred. It was designed with the shaft bent into the characteristic “L” shape.
Later, the Ramesside tombs reinterpreted this idea and opted for a rectilinear east-west axis that underlined the solar character by representing the trajectory of the star.
The blue ceilings, sprinkled with stars, reproduced the diurnal journey of the sun , showing its transformation from a resplendent yellow disc in the form of a scarab to its entry into the night as an aged god with a ram’s head.
At the other end of the tomb was the chamber that would house the royal sarcophagus. Supported by four pillars, it was rectangular (occasionally it was cartridge-shaped).
It was called the “Room of Gold” because it was the place where the definitive regeneration of the king would take place.
In some tombs, such as that of Tutankhamun, the walls were painted yellow in clear allusion to their solar appearance. The sarcophagus was placed transversely in the chamber, but in the 20th dynasty it was symbolically aligned with the rectilinear solar axis. The ceiling simulated the celestial vault.
An astronomical ceiling with the representation of constellations and parts of the calendar is found for the first time in the tomb of Seti I.
When in 1817 Giovanni B. Belzoni, one of the great adventurers of the Valley, discovered the tomb, he already described it as one of the jewels of the necropolis.
landscapes of the beyond
The decorative program was adapted to the architecture of the tomb and was rigorously fixed. In the 18th dynasty, the decoration only affected the rooms, while in the Ramesside period it was extended to all surfaces.
The wall decorations illustrated Ra’s nocturnal journey through the underworld. This daily journey of the sun was understood by the Egyptians as a journey by boat on an underground river in imitation of the journey through the Nile.
On this journey, the god Ra is accompanied by other gods who assist him in his daily victory.
The themes of the scenes are drawn from compositions expressly created for the king. These funerary “books” constituted a detailed map of the geography of the underground world and an essential “guide” to know how to successfully overcome the obstacles that appeared along the way.
The key was to know all the secrets: the names, the charms… to defeat the enemies.
Thus, one of the most repeated episodes is the formulas for the annihilation of the serpent Apophis “Apep”, incarnation of the forces of chaos and eternal adversary of Ra. Every night it was dismembered to be reborn the next day.
The main composition represented what the Egyptians called “what is in the Lower World”, or Book of the Amduat. It described the sun’s journey through the 12 night hours, which corresponded to 12 regions of the underground world.
In the last hour the sun was reborn over the horizon in the shape of a snake. The sarcophagus chamber will become the reserved space at the twelfth hour.
On the basis of the Book of the Amduat , another of the great compositions was elaborated: The Book of the Doors.
Each of the 12 hours was now separated by a gate defended by jinn and fire-breathing serpents. The vision of a different subterranean world, conceived as a succession of caverns and holes that the sun had to pass through, was described in the Book of Caverns.
Other texts such as the Litany of Ra or the Book of Heaven were widely developed in the Ramesside period, and imagined an increasingly complex afterlife for the king.
The closure of the tomb
The burial of the pharaoh was carried out by the successor king, since it was understood as an act of legitimation. Thus, King Ay was in charge of organizing the tomb of Tutankhamun and directing the funerals.
In the burial chamber he was represented performing the rite of “opening the mouth” of the young monarch’s mummy, the purpose of which was to restore the physical faculties of speaking or eating.
The funerary equipment of the pharaoh was made up of objects that were useful to him in the afterlife, such as food offerings, furniture, jewelry or ritual figures. All of them with an inherent magical-religious charge.
But without a doubt the main piece was the sarcophagus. The mummy was placed inside a wooden coffin which, in turn, was inserted into several coffins.
A rectangular stone sarcophagus enclosed the complex. Most of the sarcophagi were opened as a result of looting and transfers. Only Thutmose I and Thutmose III kept their original coffin.
Near the sarcophagus the canopic jars were placed, which contained the organs extracted in the mummification.
Once the sarcophagus was placed in the chamber, and a ritual banquet was held, the successive corridors and rooms were sealed with large stone slabs.
Decline and abandonment
Although the arrival of the Ramessides to the throne meant the transfer of the capital to Memphis, Thebes remained as a religious capital and tombs continued to be built in its necropolis.
In fact, the latest burial discovered in the Valley is that of Ramses XI, although it was never finished.
At the end of the New Kingdom, the Valley of the Kings witnessed its most convulsive period, the result of the political instability and economic crisis that marked the last reigns of the 20th dynasty.
Surveillance in the necropolis decreased, and uncontrolled grave robbing proliferated. Looting networks often acted with the complicity of workers from Deir el-Medina.
The discontent among the artisans had led to several protests that even led, as in the 29th year of Ramses III, to a general strike.
From the beginning of the New Kingdom the violability of the necropolis was already evident. Tutankhamun’s tomb was desecrated on several occasions shortly after its closure. Some were looted before being occupied, as happened with Seti II.
The scandal would break out during the reign of Ramses IX, who ordered the opening of numerous legal proceedings against offenders. Various papyri recorded the trials and convictions, exposing the corruption of high-ranking Theban officials.
The weakness of the royal authority exercised by Ramses XI allowed the High Priest of the god Amun in Thebes to authorize the free looting of the Theban necropolises to finance the expenses of the temple.
This instability ended with a political division that would give way to another stage in the history of Egypt: The Third Intermediate Period.
The north was in the hands of the Twenty-first Dynasty, which built its own necropolis in the new capital of Tanis. Thebes and southern Egypt came under the control of the High Priests.
The Valley of the Kings was abandoned by the pharaohs, being reused only on occasion for non-royal burials. With the lack of work, the Deir el-Medina community evacuated the city.

De nieuwe Amerikaanse raket die op weg is naar de maan "overtreft de verwachtingen", meldt de VS-ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA. Het vaartuig Orion is woensdag begonnen aan zijn eerste vlucht naar de maan en terug.
Over een paar jaar willen de Verenigde Staten weer mensen op de maan laten rondlopen, voor het eerst sinds 1972. De onbemande missie Artemis I is een generale repetitie om de veiligheid van de Orion te toetsen.
De in Leiden gemaakte zonnepanelen van de Orion, die zorgen voor de elektriciteit aan boord, leveren meer energie op dan verwacht, zei het missiehoofd van Orion op vrijdag (plaatselijke tijd) vanuit het Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Orion is al 320.000 kilometer van de aarde verwijderd. Vanaf maandag komt het ruimtevaartuig in de buurt van de maan. Daar zal het bijna twee weken omheen draaien. Begin december moet het vaartuig de maan verlaten en beginnen aan de terugvlucht naar de aarde. Die eindigt, als alles goed gaat, op 11 december.
Artemis I is de eerste vlucht in het nieuwe maanprogramma van de Verenigde Staten. Als deze missie goed verloopt dan stuurt Artemis II een bemanning astronauten om de maan heen zonder erop te landen, waarna Artemis III opnieuw mensen op het maanoppervlak zal moeten brengen.

The James Webb Space Telescope has captured two of the most distant galaxies (orange-red objects) ever observed. The galaxy on the right is dated to about 350 million years after the Big Bang, which occurred 13.8 billion years ago.

Using the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), astronomers have spotted two leading contenders for what could be the most distant galaxy ever seen. Both surfaced in the scrum of preliminary results that were posted online as preprints in the weeks after the telescope’s science operations began in July. After going through extensive scrutiny, including re-evaluation owing to updated calibration of the telescope, the results are now some of the first JWST findings on the early Universe to be published in peer-reviewed reports1,2.
Researchers still need to confirm the distances of these galaxies by analysing the spectral properties of the light that they emit. But if initial estimates are correct, light from these objects has travelled such great distances that they appear as they did just 350 million to 450 million years after the Big Bang. Along with other JWST findings, these observations indicate that galaxies formed and evolved earlier in the Universe’s history than astronomers had been able to probe until now.
“It’s been a bit of a surprise that there are so many that formed so early,” says Jeyhan Kartaltepe, an astronomer at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. And that is challenging notions of how galaxies formed early in the Universe, she says.
Like many of the far-away galaxies spotted by the telescope, the two contenders for the most distant appear small and bright, suggesting that they are compact, disk-shaped objects rather than being diffuse and straggly. Their tidiness and brightness hint that early galaxies had already developed well-organized structures out of many stars, rather than being distorted and faint as earlier studies with the Hubble Space Telescope had indicated.
“This is amazing — we are seeing such luminous galaxies at early times,” Garth Illingworth, an author on one of the new reports who is an astronomer at the University of California, Santa Cruz, said at a 17 November press briefing.
A race for the record
JWST, a US$10-billion observatory, studies the Universe in infrared wavelengths. One of its specialties is being able to detect light from distant galaxies that has been stretched to redder wavelengths by the expansion of the Universe. Astronomers use a measure known as redshift to describe exactly how far away galaxies are, with higher redshifts indicating more distant objects. One of the now-published distant-galaxy candidates has a redshift of 10.4 or 10.6, and the second candidate has a redshift of 12.2 or 12.4. The latter breaks the previous record: a galaxy with a redshift of around 11, spotted by Hubble3.
Using deep-field images from JWST, researchers have pinpointed two distant galaxies with redshifts of about 10.5 and 12.5, making them some of the farthest away ever observed.

The final, published redshifts are slightly lower than those reported in earlier preprints. Like many early JWST results, the findings went through extensive re-calculation after the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, released updated data calibrations for the telescope starting in late July.
Many other distant-galaxy candidates from JWST are still working their way through the peer-review process. Some could surpass the new record-holder at redshift 12.4. At least one has already been spectroscopically confirmed at redshift 9.76, in a preprint posted on 27 October to arXiv.org4. That preprint is listed as having been submitted to Nature.
Meanwhile, scientists are looking more broadly at what the telescope is revealing about galaxy formation. In a preprint posted on 10 November5, a team including Kartaltepe analysed 26 galaxies observed by the telescope with preliminary redshifts from 9 to 16. That work, too, finds that there are many more bright galaxies at these distances than theory had predicted. “While it is early days with JWST,” the authors write, “[initial] results provide an enthralling glimpse of the potential secrets the early universe has which our observations can unlock.”

Er was een tijd dat de aarde in z’n eentje rond de zon cirkelde, zonder zijn kompaan de maan. Totdat Theia de aarde ramde en een kosmisch slagveld veroorzaakte, waaruit de maan ontstond. Een nieuwe, krachtige computersimulatie laat zien dat dit proces waarschijnlijk heel rap ging.
Miljarden jaren geleden zag de aarde er heel anders uit dan nu. In die tijd werd de aarde geraakt door Theia, een ruimteobject zo groot als Mars. Dit ging niet bepaald zachtzinnig. Een grote hoeveelheid aardmassa vloog de ruimte in en deed er een aantal dagen of omwentelingen om de aardas over om onder invloed van de zwaartekracht van de aarde weer terug te vallen op onze planeet. Een relatief kleine hoeveelheid ruimtepuin was echter zo ver weggeslingerd door de botsing, dat het in een stabiele baan om de aarde heen bleef cirkelen. Dit klonterde uiteindelijk samen en de maan was geboren.
Hoe deze maanformatie precies heeft plaatsgevonden en hoe lang het proces in totaal heeft geduurd, is een wetenschappelijke puzzel die sterrenkundigen al decennialang bezighoudt. De meeste theorieën beweren dat de maan ontstaan is uit het puin van de botsing met Theia, en dat het meerdere maanden of zelfs jaren duurde voordat al het materiaal dat in een baan rond de aarde rondvloog, samengesmolten was.
Nieuwe simulatie Een nieuwe simulatie komt echter tot een andere conclusie: de maan is mogelijk vrijwel direct na de botsing gevormd. Binnen enkele uren na de impact ontstonden twee klompen. De kleinste van de twee katapulteerde door de zwaartekracht van de ander in een stabiele baan rond de aarde. De rest van het ruimtepuin, inclusief de grotere klomp, smolt onder invloed van de aardse zwaartekracht weer samen met de aarde.
Er zijn computers met een immense rekenkracht ingezet om de maansimulaties in dit onderzoek door te rekenen. Er zijn zo veel verschillende krachten aan het werk, dat een grotere hoeveelheid rekenkracht de uitkomsten van de simulaties flink kan veranderen. De nieuwe berekening toonde aan dat belangrijke aspecten van de ruimtebotsing werden gemist door eerdere, minder krachtige simulaties.
Kosmische puzzel De massa, de baan rond de aarde en de uitkomsten van de analyses van maansteenmonsters zijn allemaal aanwijzingen voor wat zich heeft afgespeeld bij de geboorte van de maan. Het is opmerkelijk dat de samenstelling van de maan zo veel op die van de aarde lijkt. Bij het analyseren van de isotopen in het maanstof blijkt dat de maan bestaat uit materiaal dat chemisch vrijwel hetzelfde is als waar rotsen op aarde uit zijn opgebouwd. Dit in tegenstelling tot rotsen op Mars of elders in het zonnestelsel: een sterke aanwijzing dat veel van het materiaal waaruit de maan bestaat oorspronkelijk van de aarde kwam, en niet van Theia.
De nieuwe maantheorie is erg aanlokkelijk, omdat allerlei lastige kwesties die niet strookten met eerdere theorieën – onder andere over de dunne maankorst en zijn gekantelde baan – nu beter kunnen worden verklaard. Analyse van toekomstige maanmonsters door NASA’s Artemis-missie kunnen de nieuwe theorie bevestigen, maar daar zullen we nog even op moeten wachten. Artemis is van plan dieper in het oppervlak van de maan te boren en op andere plekken op de maan monsters te nemen.
Gedeelde geschiedenis Deze studies leren ons niet alleen meer over de maan, maar ook over de ontwikkeling van de aarde. “Hoe meer we leren over hoe de maan is ontstaan, hoe meer we ontdekken over de evolutie van onze eigen aarde”, zegt coauteur en onderzoeker Vincent Eke van de Britse Durham University (niet te verwarren met de Nederlandse theoretische natuurkundige Vincent Icke). “Hun geschiedenissen zijn met elkaar verweven, net als bij andere planeten en hun manen, die door vergelijkbare of juist heel andersoortige botsingen zijn ontstaan.”
Verleden en toekomst In de kosmos botsen constant allerlei ruimteobjecten tegen elkaar aan. De inslagen zijn een essentieel onderdeel van hoe planetaire lichamen zich vormen en evolueren. Zo is dat ook in ons zonnestelsel altijd het geval geweest, en zo zal dit ook doorgaan in de toekomst. De impact van de botsing met Theia was gigantisch en heeft de loop van de geschiedenis veranderd. Hoe beter wetenschappers kunnen simuleren en analyseren hoe deze ruimtebotsingen in z’n werk zijn gegaan, hoe beter we in de toekomst kunnen kijken, en kunnen begrijpen hoe een planeet kan evolueren en leven kan voortbrengen zoals op onze eigen aarde.
