MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

Test confirms Roswell debris is not from Earth

A teacher at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell may have discovered the first scientific evidence of manufactured debris made on another planet. Furthermore, this debris was found near the location where pieces from an alleged flying saucer were discovered outside of Roswell in 1947.

Frank Kimbler teaches high school level Earth Sciences and college level Geology at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. He says he has always had an interest in UFOs, and actually had his own unusual sighting in his twenties. So when he moved to Roswell, he decided to put his expertise to the test and take a shot at investigating the most famous UFO incident of all time, the crash at Roswell.

He says his main goal was to find some physical evidence. He started by looking at some satellite imagery of the alleged “debris site.” This is where rancher, Mac Brazel, had told the Air Force he had found pieces of the crashed object. Kimbler used these images to enhance the infra-red in order to highlight areas where the ground was disturbed. He was surprised to find an area that was similar to what witnesses had described. It was about ¾ of a mile long and a few hundred feet wide, and facing the direction witnesses had reported. He also noticed this area had very straight edges, something unusual for a natural occurrence.

His next step was to get out there with a metal detector to see what he could find. He began making trips to the site in May 2010. Using a metal detector that could find a piece the size of a BB, three inches below the surface, he would be able to find small pieces, which was exactly his goal. In previous archeological digs in the area they had sifted dirt through screens with holes large enough for very small pieces to fall through. Kimbler figured that if there was anything left it would be very small and perhaps in animal burrows, or ant hills. An ant hill was actually where he found his first piece.

What he found was a silvery metal that looked aluminum. This was strange because there were no indications of any sort of aluminum objects in the area. He occasionally found tin, which would come from parts of tin roofs blowing around, and some nails. He eventually found more of these silvery pieces, and says they looked shredded. Some of the edges even appear melted. He also found some aluminum buttons that appear to be the type used on military fatigues in the later 40’s. If that is the case it demonstrates that the military was in the area.

Kimbler felt the small silvery pieces were interesting enough for further analysis. To get some help he went to the Roswell International UFO Museum and Research Center. Located in downtown Roswell, the museum is the main hub for Roswell UFO crash research. He showed the material to the museum’s director, Julie Shuster, and was able to meet with researcher Don Schmitt. They decided to fund the first test which was done by New Mexico Tech in Socorro. Using a micro-probe, they were able to determine the material’s composition. It turned out to be an aluminum, silicon, manganese, copper alloy. It is not unknown, but it is used in construction and not usually found in a foil form.

This further inspired Kimbler to get some isotope work done on the piece. Kimbler says the isotope work is so important because the ratios are “very much like our fingerprints.” Certain concentrations of elements on earth are unique to Earth. So if you know isotopic ratios for magnesium, it will be the same for anything on earth with magnesium, but if it is not from Earth, it will have a different ratio. For instance meteorites have different ratios because they are not from Earth. Isotopic analysis is necessary to determine if a material is from Earth or another world.

Kimbler went to the University of New Mexico Institute of Meteoritics, and talked to their expert on isotopes to get an analysis done. Kimbler had not told the expert anything about the samples. He looked Kimbler “square in the eye” and told him that the only reason he would want to get this sort of test done is because he suspected the material was from outer space. He wanted to know where the material was from, and when Kimbler told him he refused to do the test, stating that the idea of a spaceship crashing at Roswell was “a bunch of hooey.” One of the other scientists in the office actually argued the point that if it is something unusual, the importance of that possibility makes it worth taking a look at. However, the expert didn’t budge and refused to do the work. The second scientist was a micro-probe specialist at the University and although he could not do any isotope work, he was able to get more specific information about the material’s composition and confirm the early work that had been done.

Bigelow Aerospace showed some interest in helping Kimbler with his analysis, but after spending months with little results, Kimbler had to go elsewhere. Kimbler was able to find another lab with multiple certifications willing to do the work. The UFO Museum put up the money, and the results were back in five days. Kimbler says he almost fell over when he saw the information. The ratios were off, and as he puts it there were only two answers to explain the results, “either the lab made an analytical error or the material is not from Earth.”

Magnesium isotope fractionation chart modified from the graph used by Dr. Peter Sturrock in his analysis of the Ubatuba UFO fragment. Magnesium bearing compounds, metals, and minerals should all plot on or very close to the line. A chondite is a type of meteorite and since it does not originate from Earth does not plot on the line. The Roswell AH-1 alloy plots way of the line. The AH-1 plot is an anomaly that is either an analytical error or the material is not from Earth. More testing is needed to verify the data to see if it is an error or its from another world. (image credit: Frank Kimbler)

However, Kimbler’s work is not finished. He says, “Following good scientific method protocol one set of data is not going to cut it.” In order to prove the lab did not make a mistake he needs to get more work done. He says he does have two more certified labs lined up to do more isotopic testing to confirm the work done thus far, and that he may have this work done within the next few weeks. Kimbler says in order to confirm the material is not from Earth, it is necessary to have two or three labs showing the same results.

Another important aspect of the material being aluminum and showing unearthly origins is that aluminum must be manufactured. Unlike some natural elements, such as gold or silver that can be found as nuggets in its raw form, aluminum is not found in nature. If this proves to be material not of this earth, it means this was something that was manufactured elsewhere. Thus far humans are not manufacturing anything in space, let alone something that would fall out of space and land outside of Roswell in a location where an alleged spacecraft was found in 1947.

Kimbler says he is being careful before making any definitive claims, but he is “hopeful.” He says certified labs don’t normally make mistakes, and that these people who did the work are some of the best in the business.

The implications if Kimbler’s material turns out to be of extraterrestrial origins and manufacture are of course startling. Could he have the smoking gun to prove we are being visited by an intelligent civilization from another planet, and that they crashed outside of Roswell in 1947? Kimbler says he will keep us up to date, and has been gracious enough to provide us with pictures of the material and the analysis.

Listen to Frank Kimbler discussing his finding on Open Minds Radio.

    Nu volgt deel 3...

    3. De KLASSIEKE UFOLOGIE.

A RASH OF FLYING DISKS BREAKS OUT OVER THE USA”.

In zijn rapport ‘THE UFO-PHENOMENON – A STUDY IN PUBLIC – RELATIONS” weerlegt David SHEA deze verklaring.

A.M.C.’s Air Technical Intelligence Center (A.T.I.C.)

    E.T., PHONE DERRICK PITTS

Franklin Institute astronomer Derrick Pitts is one of this country’s leading scientific stars. He’s been named one of the Top 50 African-American research scientists, and he’s a media force, having appeared on MSNBC, The Colbert Report and The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and hosted his own local weekly radio show on WHYY. So why, exactly, is he endorsing a book that is, well, pro-UFO?

Science is looking for ET in microbes these days—not via strange lights in the sky. But Pitts says the book UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record by Leslie Kean, pointed out to him by a colleague, motivated him to adopt a more … curious viewpoint. “I had the view, too, that UFOs were seen by hicks,” he admits. “But in this book you had really credible people reporting these experiences, and while I have no hard data to say what they report is an absolutely true experience, I came to think the stigma surrounding the subject is unfortunate.”

For the record, what Pitts endorses is the “unidentified” aspect of an unidentified flying object. “I have never seen a UFO myself,” he says, “and I am not saying that UFOs are ET spacecraft. I am saying [that] here, there is some mystery, and we should be able to address it scientifically, without all the stigma involved.”

Pitts’s endorsement will run on the paperback edition, which comes out in August, and he knows the stigma surrounding those three letters “UFO” could taint him in the eyes of some. Just saying there’s something worth looking at is usually regarded as verboten. “I don’t really care,” he says. “Because that’s not real science. The scientific viewpoint is to admit when we don’t know something and look for answers.”

    0.     VOORWOORD.

In hun boek “UFO’s?

"USSR watched for UFOs every day"

RT spoke with Andrey Finkelstein, Director of the Institute of Applied Astronomy about the scientific reasoning behind his controversial statement that in 20 years humanity will discover aliens and they are likely to look much like humans.
RT: Mr. Finkelstein, thank you for being with us tonight. You have promised that in twenty years' time you will have discovered life on other planets. Are we actually talking about aliens, or merely some bacteria?
Andrey Finkelstein: We are talking life forms, of course. What particular form such life could be is a separate question. Where there is life, intelligence and civilization are a possibility. But discovering life is of primary importance.
    RT: In what form?
AF: What I'm going to tell you is a paradox. The form will definitely be well-known to us. In my opinion, and I believe experts generally agree on this, life and intelligence, should they exist elsewhere at all, should be highly human-like.
You see, essentially, the origins of life follow the same pattern, just as it is with atoms, molecules or macromolecules. There are fundamental laws of physics that apply invariably in each case. These laws have been thoroughly researched and explained. Now all you need is the right environment that would enable a process like that to start.
For example, an atom of hydrogen that originates in a galaxy located millions of parsecs away from us -- that is hundreds of millions of light years away -- is absolutely identical to a hydrogen atom that originates in our Solar System. Because fundamental laws are universal.
And it's the same with the fundamental laws that govern the origins of life, including the fundamental laws of evolution. These are universal, so all living things should have the same composition, and living organisms should look like the ones we encounter on Earth.

    UFOs: The Evidence
Before actually addressing the evidence (or "evidence"...) supporting the claim that we are being visited by aliens, I go over just what would be considered sufficient evidence, considering the extraordinary nature of the claim. A note to believers: I don't mean to make fun of the more sensible ones among you. Still, the actual points I make apply to you as well. Most importantly, you don't get to say "it's aliens!" just because you don't know of any other explanation. That's an argument from ignorance.

How can we say we have "proof" the Starchild is alien?

Several of you, and critics, have written to me over the past several weeks asking how we can legitimately claim the Starchild Skull is "alien" if we don't have its entire genome to compare to the human genome. In fact, this very afternoon nationally syndicated radio show host Michael Medved bothered himself to excerpt the Wackypedia article about the Starchild on his show, announcing to his audience with apparent authority that Dr. Steven Novella had examined the Starchild and concluded it was a "common hydrocephalic."

Let me say that Novella is a quack who has never laid eyes on the Starchild other than photos on our website, and I don't believe he's even a doctor. As far as I know he is a scam artist of some kind passing himself off as a qualified skeptic. But qualified or not, he doesn't know anything of substance about the Starchild Skull, having written about it once, way back in 1999, and since then his horribly flawed article has been taken as gospel by mainstream scientists, Wackypedia toadies, and, now, today, Mr. Michael Medved.

That Novella article can be read in its entirety in the "Fight the Stupids" section of the Starchild Project website, along with my explanations of all the asinine errors in it. So now let's get to some new facts about the Starchild DNA testing and results that should make even "Dr." Novella and Michael Medved perhaps have second thoughts.

    Valuable input from Roger Cunningham

Roger Cunningham is a good friend who recently offered me some great ammunition for dealing with critics and skeptics who insist we can't assert anything meaningful about the Starchild's DNA until we sequence its entire genome. We do understand that sequencing the entire genome is a must-do in order to make our case impervious to critics and skeptics. But we also know that from a strictly statistical standpoint, we already have enough fragments in hand to know what the final result will be---absolutely and definitely.

First, some background on Roger. He is an engineer with a degree from Georgia Tech, which has one of the best engineering programs in the U.S. While at GT and the GT Graduate School, Roger took and passed nine courses in Statistics, Probability, and Hypothesis Testing. It is important to know that in the undergraduate and graduate programs of nearly all scientists other than engineers, they take at most two such courses. This is why they tend to be totally inept at grasping the meaning and significance of statistical data.

What follows might at first sound intimidating because of everyone's basic unfamiliarity with statistic analysis. But if you bear with it and read through Roger's comments, I feel sure you will understand the great value of what he is putting forth here. At a minimum, if it gets posted in enough places maybe it will give skeptics and critics reason to think twice about where we are with the Starchild Skull, and where we are so obviously taking it--straight into the history books as the world's first genuinely "alien" being.

The ABCs of statistical analysis direct from Roger Cunningham

(Quote) In Hypothesis Testing, even a .1% sample can be significant if the population being measured has few or no outside influences to cause change. DNA nucleotides and base pairs are just such a population. They exist only in and of themselves, and never change once their host, a living entity, is genetically established during the first few moments of conception and gestation.

(Quote) This is called a "Confidence Interval Test." Most scientists are not well versed in Confidence Intervals. This is why they can reject a sample that is 2% valid "because it is too small." However, in real statistics, which scientists are not trained in and receive only introductory-level courses, a verified sample of .1% to 2% can be all that is needed to prove a case, provided the Confidence Interval is sufficient.

(Quote) Because Mitochondrial DNA is so highly conserved, its Confidence Interval is AT MOST only on the order of .1% to .5%. Thus, the Starchild data needs only a 99.5% Confidence Interval threshold for its mtDNA amount to be significant. The actual 9.5% recovery (of mtDNA base pairs) provides a 90.5% Confidence Interval threshold, which can only be termed "overwhelming."

(Quote) It is completely legitimate to extrapolate that 9.5% recovery (multiplying it by a factor of 10.5) to firmly establish the Starchild as "not human." If scientists were well-trained in Statistics and Hypothesis Testing, the established 9.5% recovery would have them on their heels.

(Quote) With only .001% recovered base pairs (approx. 30,000) of the Starchild's 3+ billion base pair nuclear genome, the required Confidence Interval has not been achieved. Nonetheless, by establishing that only 2% of the recovered amount (.02% x 30,000 = 600) was not found in the NIH database (and thus not found on Earth to this point), it would statistically confirm that the ultimate recovery of the entire genome would prove beyond doubt that it is "not human." And, indeed, the NIH database did not contain at least a few thousand of the base pairs from the Starchild's nuclear genome.

(Quote) These numbers solidly establish proof of the Starchild's "alien" genetic heritage. However, because the vast majority of scientists have no understanding of these basic statistical facts, they will stubbornly insist that the only acceptable result is 100% recovery of both the nuclear genome and the mitochondrial genome.

(Lloyd) Anyone who feels like challenging Roger on any of this, or thanking him for sticking his neck out to try to help us in this way, he can be reached at: gray22020777@gmail.com. Don't ask me about those numbers, he's an engineer!

What it all means relative to what we do now.

First, I'm going to do what I can to salvage the damage caused by Michael Medved on his radio show, such as it might have been. I'll ask for at least a few minutes on his monthly "Full Moon" show, which I am told deals with alternative subjects. He could hardly do better than to take anything resembling a fair and objective look at the Starchild Skull.

I also intend to keep pushing hard to try to find the investor that we need to secure funding for the genome recovery and the documentary films that will show the world that the testing was done correctly and the results can be verified by any other genetics lab in the world.

Times are hard everywhere now, and even people with great wealth are waiting to see what the U.S. Congress will do about raising our country's debt ceiling. Until that issue is resolved, we all seem stalled in a holding pattern. I hope to break out of it when everyone else does, but for now it's just "wait and see." I hope you all can have the necessary patience to bear with me as I grind through yet another of the many low points in the Starchild's story.

Top Roswell researchers on UFO panel for first time

Roswell is a household name, and mostly due to the research of a handful of men. Four of the top Roswell researchers met this past Saturday at the Roswell UFO Museum during their annual festival along with a gentleman with a new discovery. These four researchers have never been together on a panel before.

The panel included nuclear physicist, Stanton Friedman, Don Schmitt, Tom Carey, Kevin Randle, and Frank Kimbler. Although the incident took place in 1947, once the Air Force claimed they had mistaken pieces of a weather balloon for a crashed flying saucer, the story quickly faded away. However, Friedman shared how he rekindled this case. In 1978, embarrassed for making Friedman wait for an interview, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana TV station manager gave him a tip. He told Friedman that he should contact one of his ham radio buddies for information on UFOs. This buddy turned out to be Jesse Marcel, the Air Force intelligence officer who was the first to look at the debris. He told Friedman about the strange properties of the material and that it was definitely no balloon. Friedman enlisted the help of a fellow researcher, Bill Moore, and within a couple of years they had located over 60 other witnesses. This work all culminated into the book, The Roswell Incident, written by Bill Moore and Charles Berlitz, and featuring Friedman’s work.

Still not a household name, the Roswell event continued to gain popularity and was eventually featured on the television program Unsolved Mysteries. The episode was very popular, and left the public hungry for more information. In the right place at the right time, Schmitt and Randle published their research on the incident in 1991, UFO Crash at Roswell, which included more witnesses and details. During the panel they each discussed some of the more interesting interviews, and recalled just how difficult it was to track these people down. Friedman had gained access to a Roswell Army Air Field yearbook with names and pictures of the men who were stationed there in 1947. Much of the work of the researchers consisted of tracking these people down to find out if they had any involvement with the alleged UFO crash. Prior to the internet and cell phones with long distance included, it was an expensive and tedious task.

Friedman wrote his own book on Roswell titled, Crash at Corona, in 1992, and Schmitt and Randle published a second in 1994. This was the same year that a Showtime movie aired titled, Roswell, based on Schmitt and Randall’s first book. The movie starred Kyle McLachlan and Martin Sheen. All of this momentum launched the Roswell UFO Crash into the worldwide sensation that it is to this day.

Randle shared the story of how he got involved with Roswell in the first place. In the late eighties, he was a science-fiction writer, and while attending a conference was asked to take part in a debate. He and three other writers were going to debate two UFO researchers. The second UFO researcher wasn’t able to make it, so to make things fair, Randle volunteered to debate on the UFO side. His partner was to be Schmitt. This was the beginning of Schmitt and Randle’s partnership.

Randle has also had a long career in the military, serving with the Army in Vietnam and the second Gulf War. After 911, Randle joined the Iowa National Guard, and his unit was deployed to Iraq in 2003. Randle eventually retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2009. He says this obviously hampered his ability to participate in UFO research.

During this time, Schmitt took on a new partner, Tom Carey. Inspired by Friedman’s work, Carey wanted to get involved with the research himself. After meeting Schmitt they teamed up and eventually published, Witness to Roswell, in 2007. The book highlighted their continued discovery of witnesses to the events.

The last panelist is not a long time researcher, but a newcomer to the search for answers to the Roswell mystery. Frank Kimbler is a teacher of geology at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. Taking an interest in the case, he was able to spot an unusual scorch pattern in infra-red satellite images of the desert near where the debris was supposed to have been found. He then went out to the site and found unusual metals. Under analysis the material tuned out to be an aluminum silicate. He then was able to get the Roswell UFO Museum to sponsor an isotopic ratio analysis which also came back with interesting results. From what they discovered, the sample he gave them was not created on earth. Kimbler says he is a scientist and is handling this carefully. There is a possibility that the first lab made a mistake. He will seek further analysis to make sure the findings are correct.

After all of these years, could Kimbler have the “smoking gun” evidence that everyone has been waiting for? We will talk with Kimbler on Open Minds Radio this Monday to discuss this further.

Overall, the panel was great. Hearing the various perspectives on how this amazing case unraveled from the lead investigators, all together for the first time, was a UFO geek’s paradise.

The Universe - Multiverse Parallel Universes

History Channel ® : In 1954, a young Princeton university doctoral candidate named Hugh Everett III came up with a radical idea: That there exist parallel universes, exactly like our universe. These universes are all related to ours; indeed, they branch off from ours, and our universe is branched off of others. Within these parallel universes, our wars have had diferent outcomes than the ones we know. Species that are extinct in our universe have evolved and adapted in others. In other universes, we humans may have become extinct.
This thought boggles the mind and yet, it is still comprehensible. Notions of parallel universes or dimensions that resemble our own have appeared in works of science fiction and have been used as explanations for metaphysics.
With his Many Worlds theory, Everett was attempting to answer a rather sticky question related to quantum physics: why does quantum matter behave erratically? The quantum level is the smallest one science has detected so far. The study of quantum physics began in 1900, when the physicist Max Planck first introduced the concept to the scientific world. Planck's study of radiation yielded some unusual findings that contradicted classical physical laws. These findings suggested that there are other laws at work in the universe, operating on a deeper level than the one we know.
    Parallel Universes: Split or String?
The Many-Worlds theory and the Copenhagen interpretation aren't the only competitors trying to explain the basic level of the universe. In fact, quantum mechanics isn't even the only field within physics searching for such an explanation.
Following his famous Theory of Relativity, Einstein spent the rest of his life looking for the one final level that would answer all physical questions. Physicists refer to this phantom theory as the Theory of Everything. Quantum physicists believe that they are on the trail of finding that final theory. But another field of physics believes that the quantum level is not the smallest level, so it therefore could not provide the Theory of Everything.
These physicists turn instead to a theoretical subquantum level called string theory for the answers to all of life. String theory was originated by the physicist Michio Kaku. His theory says that the essential building blocks of all matter as well as all of the physical forces in the universe -- like gravity -- exist on a subquantum level. These building block resemble tiny rubber bands - or strings - that make up quarks - quantum particles -, and in turn electrons, and atoms, and cells and so on. Exactly what kind of matter is created by the strings and how that matter behaves depends on the vibration of these strings. It is in this manner that our entire universe is composed. And according to string theory, this composition takes place across 11 separate dimensions. According to the theory, our own universe is like a bubble that exists alongside similar parallel universes. Unlike the Many Worlds theory, String theory supposes that these universes can come into contact with one another. Gravity can flow between these parallel universes. When these universes interact, a Big Bang like the one that created our universe occurs.
Einstein didn't live long enough to see his quest for the Theory of Everything taken up by others. Then again, if Many Worlds is correct, Einstein is still alive in a parallel universe. Perhaps in that universe, physicists have already found the Theory of Everything.

In Special Reports, this week's files cover: UFOs at Nuclear Missile Sites in 1967-68, and Babylonian Creation Story of Enuma Elish

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena sightings were reported over Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Michigan, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. Sightings of UFOs were also reported in Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Slavonia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The purpose of these files is to report the UFO eyewitness and photo/video evidence that occurs on a daily basis around the world and in space. These Files assume that extraterrestrial intelligent life not only exists, but my hypothesis is that the over a thousand UFOs reported each month represent technologically advanced spacecraft conducting surveillance of Earth. I personally became interested in UFOs when London Control ordered me to intercept one over England while flying for the US Air Force. Under Project Blue Book, the US Air Force investigated UFOs for more than twenty years; and we continue this research. I believe the God of the universe has spread life throughout the cosmos and UFO's are visiting us in ever-increasing numbers.

    Special Reports

US and Britain 'Most at Risk' for Asteroid Strikes

Anissa Haddadi writes, "Experts at Southampton University have drawn up a list of countries most likely to suffer severe loss of life or catastrophic damage, should a large asteroid hit Earth. The news comes days after UFOs were apparently spotted flying over the BBC building in London .

The countries most at risk from an asteroid strike are Brazil, Britain, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, the Philippines and the U.S. Any of these countries could mean millions of deaths. http://img.ibtimes.com/www/site/us/images/1px.gifCanada, the U.S., China, Japan and Sweden are rated most at risk in terms of potential damage to their infrastructure. The report comes after a rock the size of a house came within 7,500 miles of Earth earlier this week. "The threat of Earth being hit by an asteroid is increasingly being accepted as the single greatest natural disaster hazard faced by humanity," said Nick Bailey, of the University of Southampton, who developed the NEOimpactor software."The consequences for human populations and infrastructure as a result of an impact are enormous."

Bailey also pointed out that an asteroid which landed in a remote spot near the Tunguska River in Russia in 1908 devastated a very large perimeter and the impacts would have been catastrophic if the area had been populated. "While it only flattened unpopulated forest, had it exploded over London it could have devastated everything within the M25," he said.

Scientists think that 65 million years ago, an asteroid was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs as a rock up to 10 miles in diameter hit Earth at 25,000 miles an hour with a force of 100 megatons, the equivalent of one Hiroshima bomb for everyone on the planet. The Apophis asteroid is expected to bring in Doomsday in 2036?

Many also insist that if Earth has until now managed to avoid being hit by such a large asteroid, it is partly due to Jupiter's gravitational field -- which limits our exposure to asteroids. Thanks to http://uk.ibtimes.com/

North Dakota Dogfight With a Ufo

FARGO -- An aerial dogfight between a pilot of the North Dakota Air National Guard and a UFO took place in the skies over Fargo on Oct. 1, 1948. The Air Guard pilot, George Gorman, was a seasoned flier, not knowing the intention of the pilot of the object, Gorman, in his P-51 Mustang, decided to engage the object. The 27-minute dogfight between the P-51 and the UFO was witnessed by two air traffic controllers in a tower at Hector Airport in Fargo and the pilot of a Piper Cub who witnessed it.

Gorman was born July 7, 1923, and grew up in Fargo, where his father was a Cass County agent. During World War II, Gorman became a B-25 instructor for French aviation students. When the war was over, he returned to Fargo and was employed as the manager of a construction company. He joined the 178th Fighter Squadron as a second lieutenant. On October 1, 1948, Gorman was flying cross-country with other Guard members. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the other pilots landed at Hector, but Gorman decided to get in some extra flying time. Gorman was notified by the control tower that a Piper Cub was in the area. He could see the smaller plane 500 feet below him. Five minutes later, he spotted a dimly lit disk-shaped object slowly circling the city. Gorman contacted the tower asking about another plane and was told there were only two planes in the air over Fargo. Gorman approached the object to investigate and it suddenly brightened and accelerated. The object had been traveling "about 250 miles per hour, but as Gorman began the chase, it speeded up to "about 600 miles per hour. The P-51 could only travel 400 mph, so the object quickly outdistanced Gorman. It then made a "180-degree turn and came straight at him. Gorman "attempted to crash into it, but as they neared, it veered upward and passed over him.

When Gorman continued his pursuit, the object climbed to 14,000 feet, the P-51 in its chase went into a power stall, and Gorman temporarily passed out. At this point, the object turned in a northwest direction and disappeared. Observing this action were Lloyd D. Jensen and H.E. Johnson, two air traffic controllers in the tower at Hector. Another eyewitness was Dr. Cannon, a Fargo physician, who was the pilot of the Piper Cub. Both controllers noted the object's rapid rate of speed and how it easily outdistanced the P-51. Gorman was so shaken up he had difficulty landing his P-51. He then contacted his commanding officer, Major D.C. Jones and gave him a signed statement and referred the incident to U.S. Air Force intelligence. On October 4, an intelligence unit headed by Maj. Paul Kubala arrived in Fargo and questioned Gorman, Cannon and the two controllers.

Gorman signed another sworn statement on Oct. 23, stating: "I am convinced that there was definite thought behind its maneuvers. "I am further convinced that the object was governed by the laws of inertia because its acceleration was rapid but not immediate and although it was able to turn fairly tight at considerable speed, it still followed a natural curve. "When I attempted to turn with the object I blacked out temporarily due to excessive speed I do not believe that there are many if any pilots who could withstand the turn and speed effected by the object and remain conscious."The object was not only able to out turn and out speed my aircraft, but was able to attain a far steeper climb and able to maintain a constant rate of climb far in excess of my aircraft.

The Air Force concluded that the object was a weather balloon but weather observer George Sanderson stated,- "the time and altitudes didn't fit, and the wind direction was wrong. With this evidence, Gorman insisted that it was not a weather balloon.

The Air Material Command then warned Gorman not to divulge any more information or he would be subject to a court-martial.

Gorman maintained his silence. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of lieutenant colonel. After retiring, Gorman was a building contractor and talked publicly about his experience with the UFO. He did reveal to friends that, until his death on July 31, 1982, "he was never convinced that he had been dueling with a lighted balloon for 27 minutes. Thanks to UFO Casebook and Thanks to Ken Pfeifer MUFON New Jersey www.worldufophotos.org

UFOs at Nuclear Missile Sites in 1967-68

Robert Hastings writes, Last night I revised part of my book, I am working on the second edition--and integrated some new material I received from a former Minuteman launch officer.

In 2005, I posted a series of messages on the Yahoo missile_talk group's bulletin board, summarizing the testimony of former and retired USAF sources who had reported their UFO-related experiences at various nuclear missile sites over the years. My hope was that some of the group's members, come forth and discuss their own experiences. A few of them, including Larry Manross wrote,

"Robert, you are right on. As a launch crew commander at Minot AFB from 1966-1970, I will tell you that there were UFO incidents. In one [during which I was present] the security team upstairs went into a defensive posture with lights turned out. They had called in a UFO sighting to the base and radar was tracking it. All of a sudden it buzzed the launch control center and that was when they cut the lights and took a defensive position.

During 1967 or 1968, I was a 1st Lieutenant and a junior officer in the capsule. The security team kept us informed of their concerns; especially the buzzing of the Launch Control Center. I wish I had been upstairs when the incident took place, but as you know the launch crews were down in the capsules for 24 hour uninterrupted stretches. But Base Ops did confirm that they were tracking an unidentified object on radar.

I later asked Manross to elaborate on these statements. He responded, --

As a missile launch officer we had numerous UFO incidents that seemed to be all around us. I was in the 742nd Strategic Missile Squadron, and we manned Kilo, Lima, Motel, November, and Oscar. I was primarily assigned to Kilo or Lima with the commanders Capt. John Deresky and later Capt. Charles Brickley. Neither of them was with me that night. Later I moved up to the commander role. I was attempting to sleep while the commander was dealing with security upstairs and the base headquarters regarding some unidentified [flying] object. It was when his board lit up like a Christmas tree for a moment that he got scared and asked for back-up. The lit-up board signals that the missiles have launched. It was a false signal but correlated with the incident taking place upstairs. It all happened quite fast. Then things returned to normal.

[Anyway,] that was when I became engaged. The commander was rattled and so was the security team upstairs. The security team reported that something had buzzed the LCF and that they had gone into a defensive posture, turning out the lights and drawing their weapons. They indicated it was very bright and traveling at a high rate of speed. They did not describe any shape, etc., other than it was bright. [Then] base headquarters reported that the unidentified object was no longer on radar and that was the last we heard of it.

There was no debriefing—nada. Just another day pulling an alert at Minot. I do remember the senior officer saying something about how I should not talk about the incident without getting authorization. [In spite of that,] all the officers talked about UFOs and what was going on. As you can imagine there was quite a range of opinions. The common assumption among many [officers] was that the objects were somehow drawing power from the missile warheads.

A security team was stationed at one of the missile launchers because the radar surveillance was out. A UFO hovered over the launch pad and they discharged their weapons and claim they heard plinks as the bullets hit the object. Every security team I worked with said it was a true story and had taken place at Minot AFB. The number of UFO incidents at the time, during 1966-'70, were so frequent, that in the summer the security team sometimes would put chairs in front of the building, or on the roof of the building, to watch for UFOs. Can you believe it?

I had heard nearly identical stories from other former or retired USAF personnel who had been stationed at Ellsworth, F.E. Warren, and Malmstrom AFBs during that era. This particular side show is almost humorous: Nuclear missile security guards sitting outside Minuteman Launch Control Facilities at night looking for UFOs because the objects appeared above the missile field so frequently! If only the American media had been given that story at the time. But almost no information leaked out to the press or public. Thanks to Robert Hastings http://www.ufohastings.com/

Babylonian Creation Story of Enuma Elish

The Enuma Elish is a Babylonian creation story contrasting the forces of creation and chaos. The fragments of these seven clay Akkadian Cuniform tablets were found by Austen Henry Layard in 1849 at the ruins of Ashurbanipal, Nineveh. There is a discrepancy regarding the original date of the tablets; with an estimate of anywhere from the 18th century BCE to the 11th century BCE.

George Smith published the Enuma Elish tablets in 1876 as The Chaldean Genesis. These tablets were similar to the book of Genesis in that they both depicted a creator god that brought organization to a universe filled with chaos. Did the authors of the book of Genesis rewrite the Enuma Elish and claim it as their own? Of particular interest is the fifth tablet. Many of the lines are missing; but enough are left to suggest that the Babylonian hero god named Marduk created star stations for other gods to dwell upon.

He constructed stations for the great gods, fixing their astral likenesses as the stars of the Zodiac. (2) He founded the station of the pole star [Nebiru] to determine their bounds, (6) that none might err or go astray.

Alongside it he set up the stations of Enlil and Ea. (8) having opened up the gates on both sides, He strengthened the locks to the left and the right. (10)

The epic myth in the Enuma Elish is about a civil war between the gods. The god Marduk is chosen to lead the rebellion against Tiamet, the dragon of the primordial sea and against the leader of the Anunnaki. Marduk was renowned as the god of Mars with the symbol of the snake-dragon. Snake-dragons to this day appear on many royal crests, and many ancient societies venerated snakes and dragons. Perhaps some of the ruins on Mars that we so often see in Filers Files may be remnants from this war. Thanks to Valerie Lesley, Ph.D.

Billions Found at Hindu Temple in Southern India

A treasure trove of gold and silver jewelry, coins and precious stones said to be worth 500 billion rupees ($11.2 billion) has been found in a Hindu temple in southern India.

Thousands of necklaces, coins and precious stones have been kept in at least five underground vaults at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple which is renowned for its intricate sculptures.

The temple, dedicated to Hindu lord Vishnu, was built hundreds of years ago by the king of Travancore and donations by devotees have been kept in the temple's vaults since.

Sightings of UFOs in the United States

    Alabama Glowing Orbs

Birmingham -- I saw three amber glowing orbs in a triangle formation from the drive thru at McDonalds over the Hibbetts Sports Store southwest. The just hovered in one place and did not move until they disappeared.

    California Orbs and Silver Object

El Monte -- On June 26, 2011, 4:35 PM, the witness was outside by her swimming pool when she noticed silver objects in the sky. At 4:35 PM, the first object moved eastbound and five minutes later, three objects stopped close by the first one forming a triangle facing west. At 4:48 PM, the last one moved east and now the triangle is facing east. At 5:05 PM, Now the head of the triangle moved slowly and went under the first object. Then I went in and to tell my husband, fetched my Nikon digital camera and snapped several photos. Thanks to William Puckett, Director http://www.ufosnw.com

Fresno -- I filmed this myself on June 10, 2011, at 2 PM. What do you think?

Note: The witness videotaped an unknown silver object that was hovering in the day sky. He uploaded the video to YouTube. Several frames shows a jet and others can be heard. It is unclear if the jets were pursuing the object. The object does not appear to be a balloon, blimp, kite or any other "flotation device." Venus was barely visible. The witness uses his zoom setting that clearly reveals a silver object. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLbGXGLnVKk&feature=related. Thanks to William Puckett Director UFOs Northwest http://ufosnw.com

    Idaho Rectangle

Carey -- A rectangular object was observed for three minutes on June 25, 2011, at 4:40 PM, that instantly vanished. As a skeptic regarding UFO sightings, this is not easy to report. We were traveling 14 miles east of Carey eastbound on Idaho State Highway 20. The object was ahead of us and appeared stationary for about three minutes and then was instantly gone.

It was rectangular in shape, but had no visible lights. Thanks to Peter Davenport, Director National UFO Reporting Center http://www.UFOcenter.com/

    Illinois Red Light

Chicago Ridge -- At about 10:06 PM, on July 4, 2011, I looked west out of my balcony doors to a clear sky and fireworks were going off. I thought at first it was fireworks, but it was the same red light I saw two nights ago. It was bright red light that hovered high in the sky. An airplane happened to fly below it slowly, so I know for sure it wasn't an airplane. It starts getting smaller and smaller then just disappears quickly! Two nights prior on July 2, 2011, my friend and I were driving at 10 PM, at night and we saw the same light. It just hovered there and then disappeared in Palos Park. On July 3rd that same friend called me and said he saw the light again at 8 PM, over Alsip, Illinois.

MELROSE PARK -- I was outside looking at building the lights that I just turned on, when the circuit breaker popped off as large light in the clouds caught my attention on July 5 2011. It was a solid orange red color heading east. It took about 5 to 8 seconds flying over head as it past it turned black and I could then see it was circular in shape against the clouds. A few seconds later a loud plane flew over head with its lights blinking and smaller than the object. I realized the orange red light was silent. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Indiana Glowing Red Object

Auburn -- My wife and I were standing in our yard looking east when we spotted a glowing red object flying northeast. We watched it fly silently at a slow pace. As it was becoming obstructed from view by my neighbor's house, I ran around to the other side to watch it. As it flew across the sky I happened to look straight up and I saw a large white object flying southeast over head. We were lucky enough to catch it on video as it flew off and faded away to nothing. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Maryland Star Brightens

Haystack Mountain -- My girlfriend and I sat down to relax on my parent's patio on June 29, 2011, facing southeast towards Haystack Mountain. We saw a light like a very bright star gliding southeast. I said, "I hope they come for us!" The object was just moving through the same space in the trees as it had just moved. It was like a glitch in the Matrix. Like in the movie, "The Matrix when the cat walks in front of the door twice, like it's on a loop. It seemed brighter and bigger than before.

It was moving fast enough that it should have kept going over the mountain and out of sight, but it was like magic. I ran to get a closer look and it wasn't in the part of the sky I expected, it was further down the mountain towards Cumberland. It was moving faster and becoming 10 or 20 times bigger, then faded to a dim red star and vanished. There was no sound. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Michigan Flying Object

HOWELL-- I was in my swimming pool with my two children at about 9 PM on July 5, 2011, when my 6 year old daughter pointed, "Look it's a space shuttle. I grabbed my glasses and I could see no wings and there was no noise. It was a white cigar shaped object from my perspective. My 7 year old son, who has much better vision than I do, said it had three windows and he drew this picture of the object. I would guess it to be 500 feet above us. It was a very bright white color and reminded me of a blimp but going much faster than that. It flew south over the trees and out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Missouri Object Photographed

Wentzville -- On June 27, 2011, around 7:30 PM, I was on phone talking to a classmate and looking southwest when I noticed a round black dot in the sky. The object performed linear maneuvers, up, down and left to right. It seemed very controlled and deliberate. I was able to determine that the object was moving independently. I told my classmate what I was seeing and it drew closer. I tried to take a photo with my cell phone camera but it was unable to focus so I grabbed my digital camera. I snapped a photo as the object made a backwards letter J swoop and shot outward and disappeared beyond the horizon.
The object was round and black, solid, possesses detail such as a domed top, maybe a flat bottom, circular in shape. Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Jersey Huge Pulsing Colors Object

Newark -- I was relaxing on my back stoop on June 29, 2011, at 10:16 PM, and spotted a ball of light rising in front of me from the west, and tracking nearly straight up. I live in the traffic lanes of Newark Liberty Airport, and have seen and photographed many planes going overhead. I had my cell phone nearby, and videotaped a very bright ISS, at magnitude -3.7.

I reviewed the footage and glanced back at the area where the ISS had emerged and saw an oval, canted, glowing jellyfish, about half the width of my outstretched index finger, slowly drifting silently south on the western horizon. It was like a bubble with white top and bottom of the ellipse, with red pulsing light on the bottom tip that changed colors, and a few other greens and blues in the top end.

I caught a few seconds of video and pictures before the object brightened, then moved out of sight. The object reappeared in a hole between two trees. I posted this to Facebook, and a witness in a nearby town claims she heard engines and it was an advertising blimp. A second witness in the same town claims he saw the same object at 3AM that morning. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Point Pleasant -- Barbara Broughlette writes, "I have never seen or reported anything even remotely like a ufo before. I saw something on June 29, 2011, with many red unblinking lights emanating from the sides and bottom, and possibly the top. It was about maybe 1,000 to 1,500 feet high with no sound. The sky still had a bit of light in it, and I could see that the "body" was matte black or dark in color. Although I was seeing it mostly from the underside, it did seem to have a compact roundish shape, and I think there was some sort of dome on the top - again, like maybe a helicopter might have.

The stars were out already and it was a clear night so I got a good look at it traveling in a large arc going from west to southeast. I saw it for several minutes and was shaking so I couldn't take my eyes off it. I saw it again around 10 PM, and didn't remember to look at the clock. It was hard to concentrate on anything after the experience. It was not traveling too fast, maybe about 100-150 miles an hour. The way it moved reminded me of a helicopter, but there was no sound, and only the non-blinking red lights and lots of them. I also did not see any propeller on top. It seemed to fly south over the ocean. Then as I watched all the lights went off except one non-blinking red light. A few seconds later, it disappeared. I can't imagine that one of the military bases in the area would let something fly at night with lights that would be confusing to other pilots. And there are lots of small planes around here and higher above where I saw the thing is a path that is used routinely by jets. Oh, and I'm not crazy. I'm a grandmother, ex-corporate fortune 500 management people. Last night I was up at the beach around 10 to see if it was coming back. It's really bothering me. Thanks to Barbara Broughlette

    Oklahoma Streak

On July 2, 2011, it was wobbling around high in the sky. It was somewhat reminiscent of an eye. Very bright white in the center like a star but brighter than any other star. There were four yellow rays fanning down and four yellow rays pointing up. It slowly drifted up and to the south all the while wobbling side to side and up and down.

The oddest part is when I viewed it through binoculars it appeared completely different. It was like a triangular emerald with the point down and shooting out from the point was a yellow bolt like lightning. Directly under the bolt was a white chevron. At first I was excited to again see a UFO, but then I felt let down as nothing more happened. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Pennsylvania UFOs

Warren -- I was fishing by myself on the Alleghany River, at 9:17 PM; and I looked above the refinery across the river to see it start to move slowly. I flashed them the cross sign with my L.E.D. flashlight, to let them know I could see them. The ufo moved very slowly then in about two minutes it accelerated fast and was gone. Five minutes later, the Ufo appeared above me and vanished. At 9:30 PM, I noticed two stars that look like they're coming out, and the right star started to move slowly to the right and I saw another UFO above me hovering at about 1000 feet. I pulled out my light and gave them my flash sign as it started to move slowly down fast towards me. It gained in size and brightness about five times. They flashed me back with their ship and they were coming down and went back up to the right slowly following the other UFO buddy. Thirty seconds later they vanished. I caught a nice 14 inch catfish right after the UFO. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Rhode Island Flying Road Flare

Portsmouth -- While at a cookout party close to midnight on July 1, 2011, I noticed a reddish orange flickering light similar to that given off by a road flare moving across the northwest quadrant of the sky. It flew out of the airport flying north just above the tree line. It was moving slowly and climbing slightly taking perhaps a minute to cross a 45 degree arc of sky. Then it came closer silently to out location near the Greendale Vineyards. I called my friend's attention to it trying to figure out what it was. We observed it as it came closer, then rose almost vertically out of sight. We made several UFO jokes afterwards. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Tennessee Bright Object

PINEY FLATS -- I was driving home from my boyfriend's house on December 2, 2011, and the sky was a pretty pink color and it was close to sunset and so I took out my cell phone and took a picture of the horizon. Later as I looked at the picture, I realized there was an object in the upper right corner that I did not notice when I took the picture. I zoomed the object in and could not come to any explanation as to what it might be. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Texas Triangular Craft Descends Alarmingly Low

RED OAK -- Three members of my family and I were sitting in our backyard on June 10, 2011, at 9 PM, when we noticed an object in the northwestern sky. We kept our eyes trained on it as it descended lower and lower. As it continued to descend we recognized it to be a metallic triangular craft having three white lights affixed to each of its corners. The craft continued to descend to about 500 feet, or less, above us. It was DEFINITELY aware of our presence, and at this altitude to get a closer view of us. The natural outdoor lighting around this time wasn't optimal, so scant details of the craft's exterior were acquired. We could however make out that it was metallic. The craft's lights were jarringly bright. It hovered, silently, above us at this altitude for about a minute and then silently disappeared. The craft exited at an out-of-this-world speed into the northeastern sky. We have seen strange lights in the corn-field behind our house for years, but no experience can equate to this encounter. My family claims to have experienced encounters of the fourth kind as well, resulting in possible implantation of seemingly metallic objects no larger than a centimeter. We have lost four hours or more at a time during these encounters. I feel they are more common than people report or admit.

Thanks to Peter Davenport, Director National UFO Reporting Center http://www.UFOcenter.com/

Zapata -- On June 24, 2011, I was riding in back seat as we drove from Laredo to South Padre, when our driver saw a craft and pointed it out to us."To my amazement there was a round object moving westbound no higher than two to three stories over our head next to the road, that flew silently and just disappeared out of my sight. My cousin, who saw it first approaching our vehicle, described it as a silver triangle."

"When I was able to see it more clearly, it was already overhead and it looked like a disk with a lot of lights underneath. I couldn't identify the object as aircrafts I have ever seen." Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Virginia Triangle

Chicahominy -- On July 1, 2011, I was looking outside and saw a squadron of three lights flying over the house. I walked outside with my camera twice and again saw lights. This time upon closer inspection I captured a triangle on film. After the triangle seemingly disappeared over the tree line I sat outside and waited. Soon I saw a flashing orb with 2 white and one red light flying over I observed said object for about 4 minutes until it faded over the river. (I live on the Chicahominy River) I acquired an overwhelming feeling of excitement and anxiety and as noted on the tape I cursed many times. I do not want this to be exposed to the media! Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Washington Video

Bonney Lake -- We saw 15 to 20 red lights moving in a pattern towards Mt. Rainier on June 25, 2011, at 10:09 PM. The witness reported his sighting using our report form. He provided a link to the video that he uploaded to YouTube. The video was downloaded and brightened some to better reveal detail. Several lights can be seen on the video although they don't show up as bright. One still image is posted above. The video above has been clipped, but shows the most revealing frames. Users wishing to view the entire video can view on YouTube at the address supplied in the description above. Some portions of the video do show erratic moving lights. One light appears to a reflection of ground lights, but that does not explain the other lights. No frames show 15 to 20 lights as described by witness. However, this not unusual given that the video was taken with a cell phone (IPhone).

    YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=4VoOIGdPI3w/

Bremerton -- These all happened on June 28th at 10:03 PM. The lights lasted just 30 seconds and they vanished. The photos are all in order. This happened in Bremerton, Washington on the east side at the apartments.

Note: The weather report showed that winds were light and scattered clouds were measured at 10,000 feet. The streaking of the lights in the photo is probably due to a combination of motion of the lights and camera movement.

    Worldwide Sightings

    Brazil Orb

Buenos Aires -- This Monday, on June 27, 2011, this object was filmed towards the south of the Federal Capital and to about 60/70 of Altitude. It does not fit with any known satellite orbital transits, or passages of the ISS and only one Iridium that appears in the Lists of Heaven Above.

Bulgaria UFO Flies over the Power-Vested

Sofia's -- A UFO flew over the homes of important men in the VIP neighborhood of Boyana. Late Friday evening, July I, 2011, a flying object accompanied by a dozen lights appeared in the sky over Boyana. The Bulgarian National Television broadcast the shocking images taken by a witness to the event. "It was about 10:30 PM, when a UFO flew silently east from Vitosha. Assen Yovov spoke live on TV. "I saw the large discs as bright-red as fire, and have not seen anything like this before. I do not know what it is but I want this disc to go to a laboratory and be researched. I do not want people to think I am mad. Nobody from the residences of the Bulgarian President and Prime Minister commented on the UFO appearance. Thanks to Bulgarian TV.

    Brazil Ovals

Maceio AL -- I saw unidentified objects flying over the sea in various directions that were illuminated and sometimes seemed to be on fire on June 24, 2011, at 2 PM. They then came back to flash various colors. It was wonderful to see them. Thanks to Peter Davenport, Director National UFO Reporting Center http://www.UFOcenter.com/

    Canada Flashing Lights

Penticton, B.C. -- At about 10:30 PM, on June 28, 2011, I looked out the doorway and saw what looked like a star that was flashing red and blue intermittently. Upon closer inspection it seemed to be moving ever so slightly like a firefly. I called my roommate to look and as soon as she came it started releasing little white glowing orbs. Then two glowing objects shot across the sky at high speed zigzagging along. They covered the entire sky in three seconds and made an abrupt 90 degree turn without slowing down. Also three balls of light formed a triangle then became one, and then disappeared reappearing a short distance away. It almost looked like projectiles were being fired back and forth between different objects, but they were too far away to tell for sure. This went on for hours before I went to bed at about 4 AM. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Czech Metallic Disk

Prague -- My girlfriend was taking pictures of the castle in Prague, on holiday with her sister on February 20, 2011. When I reviewed the pictures I saw a metallic disk in the top right hand corner of the picture. At first I was reminded of Billy Meier's Plejaren Beamships as I research a great deal into UFO and our relations with the ancients. Then because I am from a military background (specialist soldier) and currently work with former specialist troops. I asked the opinion of some helicopter pilots. They said they couldn't tell what it was which fueled my suspicion of what it was. One pilot thought it could be a bird. I have no doubt it probably is a UFO because I saw many as a boy in Scotland. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Kazakhstan Disc

Astana -- Sensational UFO video from Kazakhstan on May 2, 2011.

This intense alien activity in the region has led many to believe that ETs attached to a secret UFO base beneath the Black Sea are stepping up their activity in preparation for open contact with humanity. http://www.facebook.com/allnewsweb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zbCVHzpwUE

    Slovenia Disc Image

Ljubjana -- I took pictures of a UFO this Saturday, on June 18, 2011, about 11:18 AM.

Note: The photos were sent by a friend of the photographer. They were taken with a Nikon D200 Digital camera with a Nikkor 28 -- 200 mm lens. This photo was taken with a resolution of 10.1 million pixels.. This allowed the blowup of the object to reveal more detail. The object does not appear to be a bird or insect. Thanks to MUFON CMS

    Sweden Bright Teardrop

Heby -- A very big, very bright (whiter than white) flash-bulb shaped thing with no tail was observed falling very fast from the sky on June 27, 2011, at 11:45 PM. It was faster than any plane but not as fast as a "falling star". It made no sound and fell into a forest where it is not possible for me to go to. Thanks to Peter Davenport, Director National UFO Reporting Center http://www.UFOcenter.com/

    UK/England Two UFOs

Borehamwood Herts -- My partner and I were out in the back garden last night and we both saw two UFOs. The first was at 10:25 PM, which was a spherical, shimmering yellow-orange object travelling north. It stayed in position for about 30 seconds as it faded and disappeared. The second appeared at 10.40 PM, and was much smaller as it was much further away but similar in appearance. It came from the west and went towards the north, travelling for around 45 minutes as a dot of light getting smaller until it disappeared. Thanks to Christine Brock

    The Bragalia Files

    a51.jpg

Annie Jacobsen’s recently released bestseller Area 51 has stirred global interest. She has been featured numerous times on many networks and websites. Her book was reviewed last week by the New York Times. Jacobsen’s biggest “scoop” concerns the Roswell crash. She learned from an early executive of one of our nation’s largest defense contractors that the Roswell crash of 1947 was resultant from a scheme by Russia’s Josef Stalin and escaped Nazi mad-scientist Josef Mengele to “hoax” the Americans by staging UFO sightings. The plan was to induce panic and psychological warfare in the manner of the Orson Welles War of the World broadcast aftermath. They would launch unusually-designed craft from a “mothership” (located near Alaska.) These were single-wing, remote-controlled “UFOs” with “alien-like” children on board. The craft were of Nazi German design (captured by the Soviets at the close of the War) and the “aliens” were actually 13 year olds. The grotesque child aviators were biologically engineered by Mengele with strange large heads and oddly spaced eyes. The craft and pilots had crashed near Roswell in July of 1947 and were flown to Wright Field. In 1951, Jacobsen’s source maintains, the crashed vehicle and the two still-surviving deformed children were taken to Area 51 and to the facilities of defense contractor EG&G (now URS Corporation)

This author has identified and located Annie Jacobsen’s anonymous source. I have also decided, after much consideration, to “out” him. In this article I will openly name him. I have also contacted him very recently. He reluctantly spoke with me for some time. I believe that the source was indeed told this bizarre story by officials. But just why this is so will stun readers, and is not for the reasons that you may think.

    JACOBSEN’S SOURCE NAMED

    alfred27.jpg
    EG&G’s Scientist Alfred O’Donnell in 1955

Ms. Jacobsen’s source about this Roswell story is unnamed by her in the blockbuster book. He wanted to remain anonymous. Annie Jacobsen kept her promise. I did not learn her source from her or from anyone associated with her publishing company. His identity and his background is revealed here and now:

Alfred O’Donnell is nearly 89 years old and he is one of Annie Jacobsen’s key sources about this Roswell crash story “interpretation.” O’Donnell is indeed exactly who he claims to have been. In the early 1950’s he was at the “Nevada Test Site” where atomic bombs were tested regularly. O’Donnell was indeed part of the nucleus of top management and engineers for EG&G- one of our nation’s top defense contractors. Founded as Edgerton, Germeshausen and Grier (EG&G) the company was acquired by URS Corporation some years ago. URS employs over 50,000 and is the leading designer and builder of federal classified facilities in the United States. They work with military as well as with the Intelligence Community (particularly the NSA) in constructing and operating some of our nation’s most sensitive and secret facilities.

O’Donnell joined EG&G in 1947 when the company employed only 15 people. He worked alongside the company’s founders and obtained Top Secret Clearance to work on our nation’s nuclear arsenal. He helped to develop explosives research protocols and optimized the firing systems of bomb devices. O’Donnell – a Bostonian - is a brilliant man who made significant contributions to EG&G and to our nation’s defense for many years. EG&G – and O’Donnell - had specialized expertise in electronically capturing and measuring the energy that was emitted from DOE nuclear blasts in the remote Nevada desert.

TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW WITH ALFRED O’DONNELL, FORMERLY OF EG&G

    MAY 26, 2011 (AFTERNOON)

    (Bolded text that follows indicates Alfred O’Donnell speaking;
Light text indicates this author speaking to O’Donnell)

    Hello…

Hi Mr. O’Donnell, my name is Tony Bragalia, a freelance journalist in Florida..How are you doing?

Fine, and who are you again? (I repeat above)

I’m a researcher, including of things like military history and the history of science. I happened to see an online article about an ‘Alfred O’Donnell’ that was from the Review-Journal. It’s called “100 Men Who Shaped Southern Nevada” It discusses your early work at EG&G in the 50s in nuclear blast testing and measurement.

Oh, oh, yes… I do remember that. I recall that very well.

    It was written by a “ K.J. Evans”…

Yes, he’s dead now. That article was written some time ago. Some years ago.

It’s found its way onto the Internet so the story is everywhere now, forever…So I do have the right Alfred O’Donnell who was with EG&G in the ‘40s and 1950s?

    Yes, that’s me.

Well, of course you must be aware then of the recent bestseller by Annie Jacobsen that is entitled Area 51?

    I am. (silence/pause)

    You know Annie?

    I do know Annie.

Well you said something to Annie Jacobsen about the subject that I’d like to talk with you about…

I don’t talk about my work at Area 51.

Well, EG&G does not seem to be the kind of place that would be reverse engineering a Soviet craft and also doing biological experiments and analysis, there were better places….

Well, you really need to speak with the Publicity Director at Little Brown.

    Why them?

    They published the book.

What do they know more about all of this than you do?

    They don’t. But I’m not saying anything…

Tony, how…how did you find me?

I am a researcher of some of these things. I think sort of like a computer when I am investigating. I googled key words. I happened across the article on you. I knew intuitively that you are Annie’s source, Alfred. And of course you are, so…

Alfred, you must realize that you have an obligation to truth and to history to come forward publicly. This is a much larger issue. It is about having people understand what really happened -if this is what really did- and to not believe in fantasies..things that aren’t scientific or historical truth…

    I know…I understand… what you’re saying, Tony.

You know Alfred, I communicated with Dr. Stirling Colgate at Los Alamos recently and he made a recent confession about a UFO hoax that he was aware of from many, many years ago.

    Oh…

Colgate is in his 90s and he’s still at Los Alamos. He confirmed to me that the famous Socorro, NM case involving a policeman in 1964 was a hoax by some of his students from New Mexico Tech. But it took him over 40 years to really say something! Colgate took to a real long time to tell the truth. And he still is reluctant…but his allegiance was in the wrong place for too long. It was to his kids at the college!…

(Laughs) So how did you find out about him?

Through a letter that I had found in some archives from Stirling Colgate to his friend Linus Pauling, who had an interest in UFOs I found out. In his reply, Colgate told Pauling the truth that it was a hoax.

Who is that he wrote to?

    Linus Pauling.

    Oh! Yes…

So my point is that we will all pass. And because of this we all have larger obligations as we get older. As a scientist you must understand this, truth is it. It’s really all that we want have in the end.

Will you leave anything - a document in writing to benefit history and science on all of this before you pass, including your name?

    I don’t know. I don’t think so.

I think you must forget about your oaths and clearances. The Soviet threat is no longer. It is more than six decades on Alfred! I sometimes almost get emotional about all of this…doesn’t, does not truth mean anything? Why have our children’s children believe in fantasy, if this is what it was?

I will think about it. I will give it some consideration…

Alfred, have other people called you about this?

I’m not going to say anything at all about that.

Well, people come to very different conclusions that you do on all of this. The Air Force says that it is a Mogul balloon, others say it was a terrestrial secret experiment by German Paperclip scientists…

Yes, I have heard about that one.

Well, I will level with you Alfred. I come down on the side of truth - it was an extraterrestrial vehicle that crashed. And frankly I think that you know this and that you were “played with.”

I am certain that the craft was constructed of materials that were not known to science in 1947. I based this on many things including on my study of the history of Shape Recovery Alloys. They had reported they found “memory metal” at Roswell that was tough and would return back to its original shape. I found that in the months immediately following the crash that Wright Patterson contracted Battelle Memorial Institute to begin work on what we now know as Nitinol. I traced the scientific documents on Shape Memory metals to the incident. When you are reverse engineering, it is always easiest to begin with the ‘materials of construction’ –what is it made of- not the propulsion or navigation systems…

    Yes..I follow.

And, Alfred, I will be candid with you: you must come forward. You are a man of science. You have lived for the discovery of truth. Why do you care now? Say what needs to be said. I mean I know you have. But openly. You know Annie is taking a beating on this. I frankly would like to know, as someone who believes in truth and accurate history…you are a man who honors science…you must know what I mean…

Tony, look, I will say this to you: if the Federal Government really wanted to have all of this released, why would they not have already done it themselves?

I don’t know. But you do Alfred. And I do respect your respect for your oath and your security clearances.

If we could get you a release from the Department of Defense to speak of this- of the truth of Roswell- would you then be open to speaking openly?

No. I would not. I just…I just cannot get involved like that.

    Oh, one more last thing…

    Yes.

Do you think that when URS acquired EG&G a few years back that they also got all of the early scientific and historical records from EG&G? I mean would they even know now? Many of the people there at URS now weren’t yet even born when this happened…

I don’t know. I really have no idea.

Again, Alfred, I have an understanding of the Intelligence Community –IC- and of the Defense communities, so I do understand where you are coming from. Thanks for all of your time, I really do appreciate it very much…

    OK, Tony, Goodbye.

    Goodbye.

THE STRANGE STORY HE TELLS – AND WHY HE WAS TOLD IT

    dis27.jpg

I found Alfred O’Donnell to be telling the truth as he remembers it – and likely as he himself claims to have witnessed it. He was extremely lucid, deliberate and controlled in his responses to me. Frankly he seemed years and years younger on the phone. Like author Annie Jacobsen, I find O’Donnell to remain a bright and believable person.

However, I do not believe that the “essence” of what he was told was true. O’Donnell says that he viewed a hoaxed UFO by Stalin that was used to scare us - and that used a former Nazi’s eugenics skills to create the aviators. O’Donnell told Jacobsen that they were “grotesque.” O’Donnell also told Jacobsen that he and his other scientist cohorts at EG&G were “prepared” for the sight of them. They were told in advance that “seeing the bodies would be a shocking and disturbing experience.”

But the truth is this: It was all “staged.” O’Donnell was indeed “exposed” to what he says he was- but this “exposure” was planned, it was for a reason - and the accompanying story that he was told was not genuine.

He was told that it was of Soviet origin. But “exotic technology” that has been recovered by military are often studied by using the “subterfuge” or “cover” of being told that they are of “Russian origin.” And this holds especially true for the Roswell crash. There are numerous times when the “Soviets” or the “Russians” were used to describe where such artifacts came from. They were a convenient and ideal “excuse” or reason for the study of such things:

    1) When Elroy John Center (the Battelle scientist who confessed to analysis of ET metal debris and who co-authored the first “memory metal report” for Wright Patterson) was told to analyze the unusual “piece”- he was told by his Battelle supervisor that it was recovered in a crash from “the Soviets.” Center knew this not to be true and he believed the material could not have been made by man. (See prior articles on the Battelle-Roswell connection archived on the Iconoclasts site to learn more.)

    2) General George Schulgen, in a 1947 secret memo, instructed his officers to be aware of UFO’s and their “Items of Construction.” He indicated that the discs could be of possible Soviet origin. Schulgen was of course using this as a cover. Forthcoming information on Schulgen will show that this top Pentagon Intelligence official of the time knew that the material of which the discs were comprised was not known to science- and were engineered by those from another world.

    3) When RAAF Base Commander Butch Blanchard told his wife and daughter Dale of the crash, he kept on repeating to them: “those Russians have some amazing things.” New information from researcher Tom Carey indicates that the exact opposite was true: Blanchard actually believed that it was an ET craft at Roswell, something he related to his second wife and others later in life.

The deepest recesses of Government were testing key personnel at emerging EG&G to see if they could be entrusted with such “remarkable secrets.” Would they say anything to anyone about this made-up Russian-Roswell scenario? They did not (at least not until a half-century later, and then only anonymously.) They could be entrusted with anything. And today the company is rewarded as the largest infrastructure firm to Federal government in the nation.

More importantly this author maintains that:

    - Those in Government who knew about Roswell wanted to confuse the ET truth of the event to others with whom they may work by alluding to things “Russian.” It may have even been used as a “code word” of sorts.

    - They felt that it was also a perfect way to have studies performed on actual ET crashed disc material by private contractors. Tell them these strange things were Russian. Fold the research into existing defense related technology research.

    - They wanted to see if organizations that they would bring into the fold would keep such a pretend ‘Secret.’ And point to the Russians, feared and hated.

    - They would occasionally and selectively “test” individuals within government (and its contractor community) to measure the “reactions” and coping skills of learned men when exposed to such bizarre things

    - They “orchestrated” cover stories on Roswell to purposely confuse and obfuscate the issue. They sought to blur the ET truth of Roswell with layers of plausible deniability. They officially issued (and in other ways spread) many possible “real reasons” for the Roswell crash. In this way the actual extraterrestrial nature of the Roswell event will become “muddled.”

O’Donnell was shown an American-hoaxed UFO and “aliens” for one (or some) these reasons. But it was not a “Soviet” thing that he saw. That he saw these things is likely true… but the associated story that he was told about their origin was not.

The most telling reason that this is so is this: The story told to O’Donnell those many years ago –in historical hindsight- is ludicrous on the face of it. I will not detail those reasons. Many others (including the New York Times) have pointed out the many “holes” found like Swiss cheese within the story. These include fundamental logistical, technological and historical issues associated with the cover tale told O’Donnell.

And there is this clue: O’Donnell told Jacobsen that “Cyrillic writing” found around a rim area in the craft had led he and his EG&G associates to confirm that the craft was of Soviet origin, so that the story that they were told by their superiors made complete sense.

However, the fact is that the Russians would never have made such alleged “hoax overflights” of the US using anything like “Cyrillic writing” that would reveal the craft’s true Soviet origin. It would defeat the entire purpose of having our people believe that we were being invaded by “aliens” as O’Donnell maintains, like “Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds”- and so O’Donnell should never have found such writing.

It was, rather, placed there by US military intelligence to encourage the belief that it was Russian. And O’Donnell was just 29 in 1951 when he states that he saw all of this at EG&G at Area 51. He was impressionably young, as were his EG&G colleagues. They would go on in their defense contracting careers believing all the while (and repeating late in life) the lie that they had been made to believe that these things were “Russian.” How very “Cold War-ish.”

But given the context of the timeframe of the late 1940s and early 1950s (and the fear of Russians, with “War of the Worlds” having aired only 10 years prior) it is easy to understand why O’Donnell and his EG&G colleagues “bought in” to this scenario fed them. Given the “tenor of the times” and the initiation of the Cold War, anything related to the devious Soviets could be believed at that time.

And, tellingly, the “Russian” explanation that had been told by these EG&G retirees reminds one of the famous Kecksburg, PA UFO case of 1965. Some in Government offered the (now discredited) explanation that this crash incident was resultant from a Russian launch as well. That one though was explained away as the crash of an advanced Soviet satellite. Always the Russians…

The story is strange. And the reasons that I have offered that I “believe” the old scientist may seem even stranger to some. I have more to report on this and I hope to release other findings soon…

Roswell is an onion. We continue to peel away at its layers. But it still stinks and dizzies with the stench of disinformation, even after decades.

The Bizarre Case of the Kera UFO Encounters

    Posted: 04 Jul 2011 07:25 AM PDT

In a case that might have served as one of the inspirations for the Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams blockbuster “Super 8,” a group of Japanese kids had repeated run-ins with a small, silver UFO, which they managed to not only photograph, but actually capture for a brief time during the summer of 1972.

There is inexplicably little information to be found — in the western world anyway — regarding the strange series of events that began on August 25th, 1972, in the Kera area of Kōchi City, which is the capital of Kōchi Prefecture on the Shikoku island of Japan. On the afternoon in question a 13 year-old student named Michio Seo was on his way home from middle-school when he allegedly caught site of an unbelievable metallic object hovering over a rice field.

The awestruck Seo watched the odd apparatus zip back and forth above the waterlogged paddy. The airborne object resembled a dull, silver hat with a flat bottom and a narrow lip. The curved dome atop the lip was relatively steep and level at the apex. Seo would later compare the objects movements to that of a bat making hairpin turns in pursuit of its insect prey.

Seo’s curiosity swiftly usurped his fear and he began to approach the miniature flying saucer, but before he could get too close the object allegedly shot a blinding beam toward the teen. Seo, not wishing to further provoke the UFO — or its possible occupants — quickly fled the scene.

As soon as young Seo got back to Kera he hurriedly rounded up four of his best friends — Hiroshi Mori, Yasuo Fujimoto, Katsuoka Kojima and a buddy known only as Yuji — and told them about his incredible encounter. His pals, skeptical, though intrigued, wasted no time in forming a makeshift posse to go out and find this miniature flying dome.

At approximately 7:00 pm. Seo, Mori, Fujimoto, Kojima and Yuji arrived at the rice field. The boys kept a steadfast vigil for the better part of an hour when, to the shock of everyone except Seo, the small object returned. The thrilled teens stared at the strange object that was hovering over the field approximately 60-feet from them. Then, as the sun dipped low over the horizon and dusk began to settle in, the device began to emit a pulsating multicolored light.

One of the young men, no doubt bolstered by the pressure of his peers, began to stalk the erratically floating UFO. As he neared the object it suddenly emitted an earsplitting “pop” and began to shimmer with a bluish hue. This was all the youngsters needed to send them sprinting back toward their homes.

Seo, Mori, Fujimoto, Kojima and Yuji would occasionally visit the field following their sighting and on September 4th — Just over a week after their initial run-in — their patience paid off. At about 9:30 pm. the five young men once again came face to face with the silvery object flying nearly 3-feet above the field. The little UFO started glowing and began to zoom toward the boys causing them to scatter and once again retreat with haste.

Once home, the boys reclaimed their courage and vowed to procure a camera and spend every waking moment they could staking out the field in hopes of finally capturing the unusual object on film. Their surveillance began the next evening, but the object did not return. The following night, however, would be a different story.

On September 6th the boys’ vigilance paid off when on their way to the rice paddy they spied the object lying on the ground in the middle of the field before them. The teenagers, now armed with a camera, sagely decided to snap a photo before they approached the downed “craft.”

Once the flashbulb went off the object on the ground began spinning and rapidly rose into the air. The unknown cameraman shot another photo just after its ascension.

This is where accounts get a little murky, but what seems to have happened next is that the object emitted a light that was even brighter than the flashbulb’s burst, before once again plummeting to the ground.

The still spinning object almost seemed to be burrowing into the dirt when it stopped moving.

At this point 14 year-old Hiroshi Mori cautiously moved toward the incapacitated flying saucer. The brave (or foolhardy) boy decided to bend over and lift the object up with his bare hands.

As he did so he claimed that he felt something “moving” inside. A photo of Miro holding the UFO was then taken.

The boys marveled at their peculiar prize before Miro wrapped it in a plastic bag and placed it in his backpack and took it home. Once there the boys warily measured the object and declared it to be nearly 8-inches wide and almost 4-inches in height. The now inert UFO was said to weigh about 3 lbs.

They also discovered a series of concentric curves, thirty-one small holes and three unique designs etched into the base of the object. The gang deemed that the etchings represented waves or clouds, a bird or some sort of “flying object,” and something they interpreted to be a budding flower. There was no visible propulsion system.

Following their inspection, the boys repacked the object in plastic and brought their puzzling find to the home of Yasuo Fujimoto. Fujimoto’s father, Mutsuo, was the current director of the Center for Science Education in the city of Kōchi.

The senior Fujimoto gave the object a cursory examination, assuming that the find was of little significance. That would be a decision that he would come to regret. In his own words:

“The frequent nights out of the boys began to worry parents, I told my son if it was true what he said, to bring the object. He did: it was something like an ashtray, cast iron, but too light for this metal. (It) had a top down it was impossible to open and inside were pieces similar to a radio. I did not give more importance, but now I regret not having studied more closely.”

Following Mr. Fujimoto’s brief once over, the object was returned to Mori’s backpack, but, much to the chagrin of all involved, it was discovered missing just a day later. This would not be the last time this mysterious object would be seen… or recovered for that matter.

Over the course of the next two weeks Seo, Mori, Fujimoto, Kojima and Yuji all claimed to have seen the same (or identical) objects in flight on at least six more occasions. Fujimoto himself saw it three times. The gang even managed to capture it a second time, but the object disappeared under mysterious circumstances yet again.

The boys — trying to predict when the object would next rear its proverbial head — deduced that the single unifying factor in all of their sightings was the fact that they never seemed to occur on rainy days. This, they surmised, was due to the fact that the object “feared” water. Bearing this in mind they formulated a plan to capture the device.

On September 19, the gang once again returned to the now notorious rice paddy to try and detain the mystifying UFO. This time the boys were armed with a bucket of runoff water and some tattered rags. As luck would have it they found the device sitting motionless on the ground.

The group hurriedly covered the object with rags and poured the water in the bucket over it. They then turned the object over and started to fill the perforations at the base with the remainder of the greenish water. As soon as the liquid entered the device it began emitting a deafening noise that they compared to a cicada-like buzzing. The interior of the object also started to glow.

The youngsters were abruptly struck with the notion that the object might try to retaliate to this perceived attacked and started to back away from the stationary UFO, pelting it with stones. The once flying object remained earthbound and the gang reclaimed their potentially extraterrestrial quarry.

Once back at Katsuoka Kojima’s house, the young men looked through the tiny holes and noticed what appeared to be a plethora or miniature mechanisms, Levers and weird drawings.

The intrepid youths then took more pictures and attempted to open the device by inserting a wire into one of the holes and manipulating it.

Eventually they hung the device upside down by the wire, Gravity pulled at the top of the dome resulting in a slight separation between the top and bottom sections of the object. The boys could see what they referred to as “complicated electronic equipment” inside the item as well as unidentified a viscous material. Could this have been the liquefied remains of the pilot, who — much like Oz’s Wicked Witch — melted on contact with the water?

The boys then attempted (with a dubious sense of scientific integrity, no doubt) to see how strong the exterior shell of the object was by pummeling it with a hammer. They discovered that even the thinnest parts of the light metal remained unblemished no matter how hard they hit it. This seems to be a fairly common trait of materials recovered at alleged UFO crash sites.

At this point the boys decided to try yet another experiment by putting the UFO in the oven to see what kind of temperatures it could withstand, but before they got the chance Kojima’s mother, Aiko Katsuoka, wisely put the kibosh on that. She also refused to allow them to store it in her refrigerator, which the boys believed might prevent the UFO from escaping yet again.

The gang then came to the conclusion that the device was likely some kind of “remotely controlled” surveillance mechanism of unknown origin. It was then that they decided it was time to reveal their cherished mystery mechanism to their classmates the following week, but before putting it away for the night they wrapped in additional rags under the naïve impression that it would prevent the thing from leaking any “atomic radiation.”

The object was then given to Seo and Mori for safekeeping while the rest returned home for dinner and chores. The young watchmen, feeling that the object was secure in the room with them, relaxed for an evening of comic book consumption and the anticipation of the notoriety that would greet them and their cohorts the following Monday at school when they revealed their wondrous contraption.

When the rest of the group returned later that evening to check on their discovery, they were all dismayed to discover that beneath the pile of rags there was nothing to be found. After a fruitless search, the boys reached the inescapable conclusion that their mini-saucer has once again flown the coop, so to speak.

A few hours later Kojima and Mori were playing ball at Mori’s house. Kojima lunged over the fence pursuing the ball and much to his surprise and delight stumbled across the still immobile UFO. Kojima and Mori swiftly absconded back into the house with the recovered saucer.

At his juncture the comrades shrewdly decided that they should mark the silver dome with paint lest it pull another disappearing act. This would be to confirm that they were actually encountering the same UFO over and over again, rather than disparate (though indistinguishable) machines. The boys had lost and found the object so many times by this point they naturally assumed that if it vanished it would again turn up near the rice field or in one of their backyards.

On the evening of September 22nd, the crew gathered together of a bike ride into Kōchi City. It was decided that they would all take turns carrying the device, which they no longer left unattended.

To further prevent its escape Mori determined that the UFO would be sealed in a plastic bag full of water, which they continued to hypothesize, had some sort of restraining effect on the apparatus. As if that weren’t enough, the boys tied a piece of string from the knot on the bag to the wrist of whomever was carrying it to insure that nothing would happen this time.

The knotted bag containing the UFO was then placed in duffle bag and inserted into the bicycle basket of the first carrier, and the gang set off. The bag switched from rider to rider as they tore through the city until it ended up in the basket of its last caretaker, whose name was not revealed.

The gang continued their journey until they neared a local bicycle repair shop. At that moment, the final rider claimed he felt his wrist — which was attached by string to the bag — wrench with immense force. He immediately called out to his friends, who skidded to a halt ahead of him.

The boys instantly opened the satchel and untied the string and the knots on the plastic bag, but when they looked inside they found that, even though the knots had not been tampered with, the tiny UFO was nowhere to be found. The boys would never see the object again, much to their disappointment.

    THE CASE IS REOPENED:

This unique case remained largely unknown to the general public until May of 2004, when UFO Comics published an illustrated retelling of the case. This introduced the encounter to a new generation of UFO enthusiasts garnering it somewhat of a cult following in Japan.

Due to the buzz, in 2007 — a full 35 years after the events in question — Shinichiro Namiki, the director of the Japan Space Phenomena Society (JSPS,) reopened the investigation. The head of the JSPS Osaka chapter, Kazuo Hayashi, was sent to speak with the remaining witnesses and confirmed that they all maintained the veracity of their original accounts.

During the course of his investigation, Hayashi encountered another tiny UFO tale that occurred in the same prefecture as the Kera event just 4 years later. On the evening of June 6th, 1976, a 9-year-old girl named Sachiko Oyama, from the village of Agawa (now known as Niyodogawa-cho,) went outside to find her pet cat when she noticed a small, yellow luminous object floating in the eastern sky.

Oyama walked into the middle of the street to afford herself a better view. It was then that she saw the unusual object descend in a nearby wooded grove. Overcome by curiosity, the young girl followed the UFO to the edge of the tree line. It was then that the object allegedly hit a tree and proceeded to silently land on the pavement near her feet at which point it emitted a “hissing” sound.

Oyama would layer describe the object has resembling a silver (though some accounts say “black”) hat that was about 7-inches in diameter; a familiar description to say the least. The courageous girl bent over and touched the object, which she claimed was covered with a “slimy substance” that stuck to her finger.

Like the boys who encountered the virtually identical object in Kera, Oyama suddenly found herself overwhelmed by fear. She turned and began to run for the safety of her home, but when she glanced over her shoulder she noticed that the downed device had started to glow yellow once again. Oyama watched in disbelief as the UFO rose, spun counter-clockwise three times, then shot skyward and out of view.

Hayashi also confirmed that the then 40 year-old Oyama still stood by her story in 2007. It was then that Hayashi put forth the hypothesis that these flying objects were actually inter-dimensional vehicles that had temporarily lost their way after slipping into our realm.

Hayashi seemed satisfies with his theory, but what should we make of these mysterious objects that seemingly toyed with these Japanese kids back in 1972 and 1976? Were they UFOs in the classic sense of a interstellar or inter-dimensional vehicles? It goes without saying that by 1970s (or current) technological standards an object as decidedly non-aerodynamic as this could not have been capable of such precise or speedy maneuvers as were attributed to it.

Also, unlike the micro-terrestrial invasion of Malaysia in the 1970s, there seems to be little indication of any humanoid or alien influence on these devices other than that fact that it was apparently “intelligently controlled” while in flight. Nevertheless, I think we have to look elsewhere for a solution.

How about the boys’ deduction that it was a remote controlled device of unknown extraction? This theory, I must admit, seems to make more sense than that of it being some sort of spacecraft.

In fact, when I first heard about this case, my initial reaction was to assume that this was nothing more than a prank played on naïve teens by “some guy” with a remote control flying saucer, but upon closer inspection of the photographs it does not take an aeronautical engineer to realize that without a rotor or some other driving force — which this gadget seems to be distinctly lacking — there is no way it would ever get off the ground.

There has even been the wild speculation that the device might have been a conscious being akin to those cutesy sentient saucers in the Steven Spielberg produced 1987 opus “*Batteries Not Included.” While even I am skeptical about this premise, let’s look at the “evidence” that may possibly support this conjecture.

Firstly, assuming that the reports are authentic, this device flew with apparent precision even though there was apparently no recognizable propulsion device within the UFO. Secondly, the UFO appeared to be capable of evasive maneuvers and even displayed a desire to defend itself by utilizing brilliant lights and loud noises. Thirdly, like any living being, this “machine” resisted every attempt made to incarcerate it by the teens. None of the above is proof that the thing’s actions were an example of intelligent life, but the thought is intriguing.

Perhaps we’re dealing with a non-terrestrial surveillance device here. Some unknown technology sent from another world or time or dimension or even the ocean’s depths to observe the human race. Who’s to say that the unusual markings on the base of the UFO are not intended to be a message for humanity much like the one we etched into the gold plated disc on Voyager 1 for other citizens of the galaxy to discover.

Of course, there’s one, obvious explanation — that it was all just a hoax. There are some rumors that have circulated suggesting that the Kera UFO was actually a toilet training chamber pot craftily installed with radio components and pieces from a watering can, but if that were the case it not only reflects poorly on the judgment of Kōchi’s director of the Center for Science Education, Mutsuo Fujimoto, but also represents one of the most elaborate hoaxes ever perpetrated (and maintained for the better part of 4 decades) by a group of bored teens.

Casting further doubt on the hoax theory is the 2007 investigation by the JSPS, which confirmed that there was no indication of a prank. And, let’s be frank, if Kera and Agawa phenomena were merely the whimsical follies of bored teenagers and one little girl, one would have to assume that the perpetrators would almost certainly have grown weary of the ruse as they climbed from adolescence into middle age.

The fact remains that this series of all too close encounters may well represent one of the most intriguing, albeit least well known, events in history of ufology… or one of the most outlandish hoaxes ever.

    Forteana and Failing Cars

    Posted: 04 Jul 2011 07:13 AM PDT

Within the realm of Ufology, there is one particularly curious aspect of the subject that was far more prevalent in times-past than today – namely, that relative to so-called “vehicle interference.” Even the briefest perusal of various UFO publications – particularly those of the late-1950s, 60s and 70s – will provide the reader with numerous reports of people driving home late at night, or in the early hours of the morning, when a UFO looms into view. Without warning it adversely affects the vehicle of the astonished driver, sometimes rendering the car or truck completely disabled. On other occasions it causes temporary disturbances to the engine, radio and lights. A number of such cases even reached the eyes and ears of officialdom, clearly demonstrating that someone within the corridors of power was taking keen note of this curious activity.

As a prime example, in February 1962, an employee of the British Royal Air Force Police – one Sergeant C.J. Perry – was ordered by his superiors to investigate a then-recent report that fell right into the heart of this particular category. The documentation prepared by Perry is now, thanks to the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, in the public domain. It tells an intriguing story:

“At Aylesbury on 16th February 1962, at 1530 hrs., I visited the Civil Police and requested information on an alleged ‘Flying Saucer’ incident. I was afforded every facility by the Civil Police authorities and although no official report had been made, details of the incident were recorded in the Station Occurrence book.

“The details are as follows: Mr. Ronald Wildman of Luton, a car collection driver, was traveling along the Aston Clinton road at about 0330 hrs. on 9th February 1962 when he came upon an object like a hovercraft flying approximately 30 feet above the road surface. As he approached he was traveling at 40 mph but an unknown force slowed him down to 20 mph over a distance of 400 yrd., then the object suddenly flew off.

“He described the object as being about 40 feet wide, oval in shape with a number of small portholes around the bottom edge. It emitted a fluorescent glow but was otherwise not illuminated. Mr. Wildman reported the incident to a police patrol who notified the Duty Sergeant, Sergeant Schofield. A radio patrol car was dispatched to the area but no further trace of the ‘Flying Saucer’ was seen. It was the opinion of the local police that the report by Mr. Wildman was perfectly genuine and the experience was not a figment of imagination. They saw that he was obviously shaken.

“I spoke to Sergeant Schofield and one of the Constables to whom the incident was reported. Both were convinced that Mr. Wildman was genuinely upset by his experience.”

Four years later, the Royal Air Force was still secretly looking into such stories. Prepared by a Corporal Rickwood of the RAF’s Provost and Security Services, extracts from the following, now-declassified report detail the experience of a young woman named Diane Foulkes, who had been “frightened by an object in the sky while she had been driving along the A5 road near Great Ness at 2355 hours on 8th November 1966. This object had emitted brilliant lights and radiation beams. On arriving home her daughter had been in a distressed condition and she had discovered marks on the car, which she considered were burn marks.”

Significantly, the unknown aerial object briefly drained the power from the headlights of Diane Foulkes’ car.

That, today, we have the technology to disable – or to, at least, significantly affect – car-engines and their internal systems, has led some Ufological commentators to speculate that perhaps someone else, from a world far, far away, has been doing likewise for much longer than us – and possibly even as a means to abduct people off lonely roads, late at night. Maybe so. But, there’s a problem with this. Ufology is not the only aspect of Forteana in which we see evidence of profound vehicle interference. And, for most researchers, at least, those other aspects have ZERO to do with UFOs. Read on…

Late one night in June 1977, Gerald  Monteith was driving through the town of Kountze, Texas, and close to the town’s Old Hardin Cemetery. Suddenly, his car’s engine began to falter and its lights faded. Monteith, thinking that perhaps a fuse was to blame, carefully brought the vehicle to a halt at the side of the road. However, as he exited the vehicle to take a look under the hood, at a distance of perhaps fifty or sixty feet from him, Monteith saw a tall, and very skinny, dark, hair-covered figure walking across the road, “like a man but leaning forward and swinging [its] arms.”

The sighting only lasted a few seconds, recalled Monteith, and the creature vanished into the trees. But most notable was what happened next. Only two or three seconds later, a soccer ball-sized, glowing mass of bright light came floating through the trees at a height of about fifty or sixty feet, and from the exact spot where the creature had vanished into the woods. The ghostly light moved slowly across the road until it was lost from sight amid the thick trees on the opposite side of the road. Interestingly, after both the beast and the light had vanished, Monteith’s car started normally and bore no signs of any similar problem again.

Bigfoot and vehicle interference? Whatever next?! Well, how about a winged fiend of the night? Yep, you read it right.

In 2010, my book (co-written with good friend, Ken Gerhard) Monsters of Texas was published, and divulged countless tales of weird beasts seen throughout the Lone Star State. As is often the case, the book brought forth a number of previously unheard of incidents, both old and new. One such incident came from a man who had been driving home late one night – from Austin to Houston, Texas – in the summer of 1999, when, at the edge of the highway, he was horrified to see a creature that looked like a real-life equivalent of the flying nightmare from the Jeepers Creepers movies. Notably, as the man zoomed by at around 80 mph, and scarcely able to believe what he was seeing,  the headlights, radio, and air-conditioner of the vehicle all briefly, and suddenly, failed.

It’s one thing to suggest aliens are clandestinely skulking around in the dead of night, and abducting people from their deliberately-disabled cars. But, it’s quite another thing to bring a Texan Bigfoot and a Mothman-style beast into the vehicle-interference mix, too. Should we consider the latter events to be merely rogue incidents, where the car trouble was actually coincidental, and unconnected to the encounter of the Fortean kind? Maybe. But I have a sneaking suspicion the answer lies down another, very different road.

Like it or not – and many certainly don’t, hence the hostile reaction I often get when I discuss such issues! – this all suggests, to me anyway, that whether it’s Bigfoot, bug-eyed aliens, bat-winged monstrosities and who knows what else, all these things are somehow inter-linked, and part of some bizarre and unearthly zoo.

And, maybe, the denizens of that same zoo are definitive tricksters, too. Recall that Gerald Monteith’s vehicle-interference case, in Texas in 1977, was linked with his sighting of a hairy wildman. And, in 1962, the British Royal Air Force investigated a case of ufological car-trouble involving a witness named Ronald…Wildman. The joke is most assuredly on us.

Are we here just to be the manipulated, baffled playthings of some strange, near-maniacal intelligence whose sole role in life is to screw with the minds of the natives?   I sometimes think that’s exactly what is going on!

From Jargon to Gibberish: Mind Control or just Brain Scrambling?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2011 06:55 AM PDT

I think we’ve all gotten up in front of a group of people once or twice in our lives and, while we may have felt initially like we were prepared to give a speech or presentation, we soon found we were stumbling over our words, with our thoughts and ideas pouring out of our mouths as gibberish and gobbledygook, rather than the words we might have planned to use.

This sort of thing is fairly common, and is generally simply a result of anxiety or fear of speaking in public. But some instances of this sort of breakdown in one’s ability to communicate may not be so easily accounted for, or especially dismissed as just the result of one’s anxiety. In fact, a handful of recent instances where television news anchors have had sudden, inexplicable “breakdowns” may indicate something far stranger… and perhaps even something with disturbing social and conspiratorial undertones.

Below is one such video, where the female anchor in question experiences a strange breakdown in her ability to communicate during a live broadcast. What is it exactly that seems to be going on here?

Click here to view the embedded video.

Initially (though somewhat cruelly), internet trawlers jumped all over this clip, making light of the situation. Soon afterward, it was suggested that the anchor had in the past suffered from various kinds of seizures similar to that being witnessed in the clip. But before long, there would soon be other incidents that would begin to crop up as well which, though involving different individuals and circumstances, nonetheless seem to display the same sort of thing. Below is yet another instance of weird communication-breakdown of this sort, have transpired around the same time:

Click here to view the embedded video.

And here we see the same sort of thing yet again:

Click here to view the embedded video.

And just when it seemed that things couldn’t get any stranger, this same sort of bizarre “breakdown” allegedly occurred with a nationally known television host. The smart and sassy Judge Judy, while recording an episode of her program back in March, suddenly told her audience “I need to stop,” after a similar bout with the onset of inexplicable gibberish. Among reasons for this, suggested causes ranged from conventional disorders such migraines to some sudden onset of apahsia or some similar form of speech disorder. But could there be anything more complex going on here?

Among the more “fringe” ideas proposed as causes for the strange speech problems these individuals were experiencing were theories involving “mind control.” Indeed, it’s easy to imagine whether there might be bizarre government projects that make use of various forms of focused electromagnetic radiation in order to cause individuals to suffer inexplicable “seizures” and similar conditions. But what if there were still more startling potential causes behind this strange rash of reports, and things involving elements which surround most of us in our daily lives?

Consider, for instance, the potential ill effects something like WiFi internet may have on people. Many have expressed concern about the potentially detrimental side effects of long or, as is the case in widely populated urban areas, virtually constant exposure to such energy fields. Though no studies yet exist that seek to determine whether there could indeed be harmful effects present, could it be that some individuals may be more prone to incurring health problems from exposure to things like wireless internet?

It has even been suggested that some people may become sick with various forms of cancer based on factors including what side of their bodies they choose to sleep on, in conjunction with metal bed frames and their potential to resonate with television and radio waves. What if things so subtle in our environments were actually more capable of causing harm to us and those nearby than we realize? Could these sorts of things be factors that contribute to the bizarre breakdowns appearing in the video clips above, or is there indeed something more sinister–and perhaps intentional–taking place behind the scenes?

Edgar Mitchell, Former Astronaut, Sued By NASA For Trying To Sell Apollo Camera

The space shuttle isn't the only old piece of NASA equipment that's making headlines. The space agency has filed suit against Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell in an attempt to reclaim a 40-year-old camera.

A federal lawsuit filed Wednesday in Miami claims that Mitchell, the lunar module pilot and sixth man to walk on the moon, illegally tried to auction off a camera he used during his 1971 lunar mission.

"Defendant Edgar Mitchell is a former NASA employee who is exercising improper dominion and control over a NASA Data Acquisition Camera," NASA alleged in court documents obtained by The Palm Beach Post.

    Not so, says Mitchell.

"The thing had been sitting in my safe for 40 years -- I got it right after the mission," Mitchell told AOL.

The camera in question, used to photograph a variety of aspects of the Apollo 14 mission, was estimated to have been worth between $60,000 and $80,000 by Bonhams auction house.

According to the lawsuit, any equipment used on board Apollo missions remains the property of NASA and the space agency had no record of giving the camera to Mitchell.

    The astronaut disagrees.

"The lunar modules didn't come back from the moon and everything in them -- all the equipment -- was considered government throwaways and it was deliberately crashed into the moon to ring seismometers that we set up to get data from inside the moon. However, we had an agreement with NASA management at that point that little things, like the cameras, could be kept," said Mitchell, a trained engineer and scientist and author of "The Way of the Explorer," who founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973. "That was standard practice and it was approved by NASA as incentive stuff."

He says that until he put the camera up for auction with the intention of raising cash for his research organization, Quantrek, the government never asked him to return it.

Mitchell Using Camera on the Moon

"I thought the extra money from that would help," he said.

Mitchell believes at some point in between the Apollo and space shuttle programs, NASA regulations were modified.

"Apparently, they changed the rules after I left NASA's service. Since the shuttle was a reusable spacecraft, it didn't include throwaway material, like we had in the lunar module. So, they quit allowing crew members to take stuff from the flight."

Why does Mitchell think the government even cares if he sells the camera?

"Because they want it back," he explained. "I consider it my property. Once we were given it, it's our property and we could do with it what we please, and that's what we're going to have to show in court."

The threat of a lawsuit from the federal government reportedly convinced the auction house to remove the camera from a recent sale.

"It's a fiasco and so unnecessary," said Mitchell. "We thought this was all resolved a long time ago and we were clearly not doing anything outside the rules, and all the things given to us were presented as incentive gifts and thank-yous for serving on the mission. And I've got several items all given to me by NASA when I served on different missions."

While Mitchell hasn't even officially been served with legal papers yet, he's feeling pretty confident about the outcome of the case.

"Oh, there's no question we're going to win it."
