EXCLUSIVE: Edward Snowden Tells Brian Williams: 'I Was Trained as a Spy'

Edward Snowden, in an exclusive interview with "Nightly News" anchor Brian
Williams, is fighting back against critics who dismissed him as a low-level and offered technical expertise to high levels of government.

Snowden defended his expertise in portions of the interview that aired at 6:30 p.m. ET on Nightly News. The extended, wide-ranging interview with Williams, his first with a U.S. television network, airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

“I was trained as a spy in sort of the traditional sense of the word, in that I lived and worked undercover overseas — pretending to work in a job that I’m not — and even being assigned a name that was not mine,” Snowden said in the interview.

Snowden described himself as a technical expert who has worked for the United States at high levels, including as a lecturer in a counterintelligence academy for the Defense Intelligence Agency and undercover work for the CIA and National Security Agency.

“But I am a technical specialist. I am a technical expert,” he said. “I don’t work with people. I don’t recruit agents. What I do is I put systems to work for the United States. And I’ve done that at all levels from — from the bottom on the ground all the way to the top.”

Last year, when Snowden began leaking details of NSA spying programs and left the country, administration officials played down his work history, using descriptions such as “systems administrator” to describe his role at the agency.
In June, President Barack Obama himself told reporters: “No, I’m not going to be scrambling jets to get a 29-year-old hacker.”

Snowden told Williams that those terms were “misleading.”

In the Defense Intelligence Agency job, Snowden said, he “developed sources and methods for keeping our information and people secure in the most hostile and dangerous environments around the world.”

“So when they say I’m a low-level systems administrator, that I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’d say it’s somewhat misleading,” he said.

The Defense Intelligence Agency confirmed to NBC News that Snowden, as a contractor, had spoken at three of their conferences. Two intelligence sources tell NBC that Snowden worked for the CIA at an overseas station in IT and communications.

The CIA declined to comment on Snowden’s employment or his role at the agency, instead referring to the testimony of Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, specifically his statement before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in January of this year:

“Snowden claims that he’s won and that his mission is accomplished. If that is so, I call on him and his accomplices to facilitate the return of the remaining stolen documents that have not yet been exposed, to prevent even more damage to U.S. security.”

The NBC News interview was conducted last week in Moscow after months of preparation. Russia has granted Snowden temporary asylum.

Williams has described the interview as “months in the making and cloaked in the secrecy of his life as a fugitive living in exile overseas.”

Snowden, now 30, left the government and later worked for private intelligence contractors inside NSA outposts, including in Japan and Hawaii.

While working for the contractors, he downloaded up to 1.7 million secret documents about U.S. intelligence-gathering and partnerships with foreign allies, according to U.S. officials, including some that revealed the extent of data collection from U.S. telephone records and Internet activity.

The United States charged him with espionage and revoked his passport. Snowden flew to Moscow but was unable to continue to Latin America because he no longer had a passport.

Among the revelations in the documents taken by Snowden was the NSA’s bulk collection of phone and Internet metadata from U.S. users, spying on personal communications of foreign leaders, and the NSA’s ability to tap undersea fiber-optic cables and siphon data.

Snowden documents also were the basis for three exclusive NBC News digital reports, on Jan. 27, Feb. 4 and Feb. 7, as well as a report on Nightly News, documenting operations by British cyber spies to monitor YouTube and other social media services and to use an array of “dirty tricks” against nations, hackers, terror groups, suspected criminals and arms dealers.

Obama appointed a review board that criticized the domestic data collection.
In March the president recommended ending bulk domestic metadata collection, and last week the House passed a bill to end it.

Dutch scientists say human teleportation is 'possible' - May 30, 2014

Moreover, the scientists are now closer to definitively proving Einstein wrong in his early disbelief in the notion of entanglement, in which particles separated by light-years can still appear to remain connected, with the state of one particle instantaneously affecting the state of another.

They report that they have achieved perfectly accurate teleportation of quantum information over short distances. They are now seeking to repeat their experiment over the distance of more than a kilometer.

If they are able to repeatedly show that entanglement works at this distance, it will be a definitive demonstration of the entanglement phenomenon and quantum mechanical theory.

Nothing in the laws of physics fundamentally forbids the teleportation of large objects, including humans, researchers claim.

Scientists Report Finding Reliable Way to Teleport Data

Scientists in the Netherlands have moved a step closer to overriding one of Albert Einstein’s most famous objections to the implications of quantum mechanics, which he described as “spooky action at a distance.”

In a paper published on Thursday in the journal Science, physicists at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at the Delft University of Technology reported that they were able to reliably teleport information between two quantum bits separated by three meters, or about 10 feet.

Quantum teleportation is not the “Star Trek”-style movement of people or things; rather, it involves transferring so-called quantum information — in this case what is known as the spin state of an electron — from one place to another without moving the physical matter to which the information is attached.

Classical bits, the basic units of information in computing, can have only one of two values — either 0 or 1. But quantum bits, or qubits, can simultaneously describe many values. They hold out both the possibility of a new generation of faster computing systems and the ability to create completely secure communication networks.

Succeeding at greater distances will offer an affirmative solution to a thought experiment known as Bell’s theorem, proposed in 1964 by the Irish physicist John Stewart Bell as a method for determining whether particles connected via quantum entanglement communicate information faster than the speed of light.

“There is a big race going on between five or six groups to prove Einstein wrong,” said Ronald Hanson, a physicist who leads the group at Delft. “There is one very big fish.”

In the past, scientists have made halting gains in teleporting quantum information, a feat that is achieved by forcing physically separated quantum bits into an entangled state.

But reliability of quantum teleportation has been elusive. For example, in 2009, University of Maryland physicists demonstrated the transfer of quantum information, but only one of every 100 million attempts succeeded, meaning that transferring a single bit of quantum information required roughly 10 minutes.

In contrast, the scientists at Delft have achieved the ability “deterministically,” meaning they can now teleport the quantum state of two entangled electrons accurately 100 percent of the time.

They did so by producing qubits using electrons trapped in diamonds at extremely low temperatures. According to Dr. Hanson, the diamonds effectively create “miniprisons” in which the electrons were held. The researchers were able to establish a spin, or value, for electrons, and then read the value reliably.

In addition to the possibility of an impregnable quantum Internet, the research holds out the possibility of networks of quantum computers.

To date, practical quantum computers, which could solve certain classes of problems far more quickly than even the most powerful computers now in use, remain a distant goal. A functional quantum computer would need to entangle a large number of qubits and maintain that entangled state for relatively long periods, something that has so far not been achieved.

A distributed quantum network might also offer new forms of privacy, Dr. Hanson suggested. Such a network would make it possible for a remote user to perform a quantum calculation on a server, while at the same time making it impossible for the operator of the server to determine the nature of the calculation.

It's a Great Big Wonderful World We Live On

We live on one of the great jewels in the universe and that is one of the main reasons we are being visited. The visitors have been giving us a message, but many cannot see it or understand it. Our Creator gave us this Earth to take care of and we must do a better job. The reader should understand, I'm a UFO advocate, and I firmly believe there is enough evidence to launch scientific research into the phenomenon of UFOs. I have studied this field for thirty years, and not one week has gone by without new and significant news on the subject. Many people do not accept the phenomenon as fact, since their life experiences are not equivalent to my own. I understand that we are each given certain wisdom and opportunities. I chased one while in the Air Force and saw this large radar return on my radar screen showing me they were real.
My web site started ten years ago and now according to my web master Chuck Warren has one to four million hits a month mostly from people who are searching for answers. As each day goes by, the evidence mounts that something is in our skies besides the normal planets, stars, aircraft, or balloons. We obtain fifty reports from various sources each day. A solid core of 20 to 25 percent appear as unknown and unidentified. There are several likely possibilities of what causes these hard core reports: One is a type of misunderstood plasma or other unknown phenomenon. Others simply point to classified military aircraft or alien life forms thought to live somewhere on Earth, or perhaps in a different dimension or under the sea. One of the most likely causes is that we are being visited by alien space ships. Over the last three years I have attempted to provide the reader with some of the most interesting cases and new evidence, but our resources are limited.

Our skies are being lit up with signs and wonders and orbs of various colors as well as craft of various descriptions. I feel they are sending a message. The message does not appear to be one of destruction, but more of hope, love, rebirth and good news. We are apparently being warned, signaled, given a sign of wonders and given a lamp of guidance. There is also a dark side of evil or at least that may harm and abduct people and animals. Most of the message is to comfort the lonely, an encourage us to protect our Earth and its weakest creatures. I feel they are saying it is time to clean up our act morally, spiritually and environmentally. People from every walk of life including several of our Presidents have seen these signs. Leaders in Chile, Brazil, and France are actively searching for them. The US Air Force spent over twenty years up until 1969 chasing them, and key Generals like Twining and Chidlaw acknowledged they were here.
My own search continues. These files are free, but I can always use your help in uncovering the most important secrets of mankind and the universe. I invite you to join our quest and with God's help we will reach our goals. The visitors or angels have come across space and time to bring a message that God loves us and cares. He created this world and its treasures and protects us from most harm, and He has given a set of instructions to live by. If we do as we are asked and grow, we can join with other civilizations in the universe.

War of the Sons of Light and Sons of Darkness

Astronauts have always been distinguished men of valor and exploits. A couple of years ago, Dr. Edgar Mitchell and I had a brief conversation after we spoke to about fifty Congressional staff personnel in Washington DC as part of the Disclosure Hearings. He indicated we may be visited by some type of intelligence from space. I asked Edgar, “What he thought was the real secret to all of this concerning UFOs?” He said, "The answers are all in the Dead Sea Scrolls." I said, "You mean like the Sons of Light and Darkness?"

He said, “Yes but even now not all of the scrolls have not been revealed”. I searched the scrolls myself later to find some meaning. The text of the "War of the Sons of Light and Sons of Darkness" describes where two sides are in an apocalyptic battle for Earth.
"Warrior angels are in our muster, and He that is mighty in War is in our throng. The army of His spirits marches beside us. Our horsemen come like clouds or like banks of dew, to cover the earth, or like torrential showers, to rain judgment on all that grows in it.
Opposing the good forces are the forces of darkness.

The Dead Sea Scrolls from this particular parchment also reveals that many inspired Masters as well as teachers will take the lead when that time should arise. This calls for you to exercise faith on a scale which you have never attempted before. Inasmuch as the Lord stated that He would be with us at all times; you will be a victor and never go down to defeat. The Great Creator has given every last one a measure of faith. The more you realize the potential power that has been placed within you, the more you will exercise that power which comes from above. It is also imperative that you know yourself as well as your own human limitations.

The War Over Men’s Souls?

Brett Allen writes, “In 30 years of researching the paranormal, I always believed there had to be some correlating unifying theory to both ghosts and UFOs. My research into the paranormal has proven one thing… spirit orbs I once thought were hooey, are very real. They appear to be the manifestation of the human soul after we die; often visible to ultraviolet and infrared non-filtered cameras.”

Today’s cameras pick them up because it is much cheaper to manufacture them without such filters. This is why both UFOs (who the ancient s said were “spirit” gods who could take human form-cloaked in the UV and IR) and ghosts can be captured by today’s technology, when not visible to the human eye. The ancient Mesopotamia bible spoke of both spirits and the soul. Nearly every ancient civilization makes reference to the soul; Egypt built a technological civilization around them. They were quite obviously doing something with high voltage; Tesla coils and particle accelerators, to harness and launch the soul. From the Zoroastrians, to Mesopotamia, even the Maya and pre-Columbians, all had this knowledge.

My work with spirit orbs, both in my own haunted study location, and in photos sent to me by friends, shows obvious faces show up in these orbs. But perhaps UFOlogist and NASA/CIA insider John Lear puts it all in perspective when he claims there was a soul capturing and processing machine that the alien’s operate on our moon. In fact NASA’s recent bombing of the Moon may have been to destroy one such structure.
Recent photos captured over my own home, on a lake where some 4000 graves were opened may also vindicate his claims. A bright light on a rectangular UFO was seen with what the ancients referred to as a GATE hanging off the end of the rectangle. I believe the craft was sweeping the area for “lost souls.” If this is not true, why are there so many references to the soul in ancient cultures. In the Bible there are 457 references to the soul and Christians are promised to go to heaven when their body dies if they believe in Jesus.

The soul or the spirit of humans is immortal. However the soul can be lost Mark 8-36 states, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
“We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against 'principalities,' against 'powers,' against the 'rulers of darkness of this world' , against 'spiritual wickedness' in high places" Eph 6-12
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28.

There are red orb seen all over the world and in Egypt they are often called serpent of the dragon. In the Solomon Islands, dragon orbs can be seen going in and out of the sea where the Battle of Guadalcanal was fought. Often in war UFOs and Foo Fighters are everywhere. Why is the human soul so important?
Extraterrestrials once called Angels are here for one thing, the soul. How many reports come back from abductees saying the aliens seemed to be interested in my soul. It’s as if they separated me from my soul; because they did?. The scary part is I came to this conclusion before over hearing of John Lear or his claim.
In the 90s I had a very strange visitor who refused to identify himself, only that we worked with a group that was aware of my work; and if I was deemed worthy, they might release to me the answers. He interviewed me, a journalist and media professional, about my world views on religion, aliens and the paranormal. Since that time, although seeing them since youth, I have seen many more UFOs, and many red orbs.

On 21st, March 2004, John Lear (who brought the world the story Bob Lazar, and has flown all types of aircraft and has 19,000 flying hours) was on the Art Bell Show stating very disturbing information.

Lear stated on Coast 2 Coast AM, that “A massive cube has been found on the moon, and that this cube is responsible for not only holding human souls here on Earth, but that after you die, the cube pulls your soul to it, and then erases your memory, and reinserts your soul into a new baby to repeat the process over again”.

Our moon was brought here from another star system long ago, as part of the experiment. Earth was taken over about 200 thousand years ago, and Humanity is a genetically engineered slave race. It is the souls of light that are the real reason for all of this because Reptilians need a constant supply of emotional food to enable them to do anything. Without a fuel source, negative souls are dead in the water, and are completely powerless."
In the Holy Quran at the time of death it is the soul (nafs) which is taken away as in the verse:"And no soul can die but with Allah's permission" (4:144). On the Day of Judgment it is the soul which will appear before Allah: "And every soul comes, with it a driver and a witness" (50:21). This soul will be given a different body after death, and will enter into hell or heaven. In short, since soul is the essence of man, everything that is given in this earthly life is given to the soul, and so too will be the rewards and punishment of the Hereafter. "To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth."

Mankind is an alien controlled experiment. The secret government knows about this experiment but is hiding it from us. The aliens refer to us as containers. There is a cube on the Moon with an antenna.

According to Lear, The antenna sends and receives souls. If someone dies an unscheduled death the antenna doesn't pick up their soul and the resulting energy remains on Earth as a ghost. When there is a major disaster like 911 the aliens send down giant soul collectors to recover the souls. Thanks to Brett Allen

Snowden Patriot or Traitor

. "The Snowden effect has been a very, very severe one," Stephen Phipson, a director at Britain's Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT), told a London security conference. Terrorists have substantially changed their methods of communication since leaks by Snowden, hindering intelligence agencies' efforts to track them, a senior British security official told Reuters. He claims National Security Agency's (NSA) controversial intelligence-gathering programs has prevented 54 terrorist attacks around the world, including 13 in the United States.

The NBC TV program “Inside the Mind Edward Snowden” aired on “NBC News” with news anchor Brian Williams on May 28. It is Snowden’s first-ever American television interview. Snowden's decision to leak NSA documents "developed gradually, dating back at least to his time working as a technician in the Geneva station of the CIA. Snowden first made contact with Glenn Greenwald, a journalist working at The Guardian Newspaper, in late 2012. The Washington Post and The Guardian won the "public service award" for exposing the "widespread surveillance" and for helping to spark a "huge public debate about the extent of the government's spying". The Guardian's chief editor, Alan Rusbridger said, "Snowden performed a public service.”
Brian Williams traveled to Moscow to interview the former NSA contractor, and CIA operative. “Williams' revealing conversation with Snowden who lives in exile was conducted for several hours. Russian president Vladimir Putin gave him asylum. Snowden is considered a fugitive and the US last year charged Snowden with espionage and has requested his extradition to the States -- a request Russia denied.
During his interview with NBC, Snowden claims he destroyed the classified information before he flew to Russia and they have not bothered him. He pays his own way and has not been offered money or threats to talk.
Snowden says, “We get our best data from computers.” He worked as a spy living overseas in two countries using false names and identity. He claims, we have lost freedoms based on Espionage Laws put into effect after 9/11. Snowden feels the Government has gone overboard collecting information on almost everyone/
He stated, “It’s the lack of respect for the public — because of the — lack of respect for the intrusiveness of surveillance.” “I’ve never told anybody this. But I was on Fort Meade on September 11th right outside the NSA. I remember the tension of that day. I remember hearing on the radio the planes hitting. And I remember thinking my grandfather, who worked for the FBI at the time — was in the Pentagon when the plane hit it. I take the threat of terrorism seriously. And I think it’s really disingenuous for — for the government to invoke — and sort of scandalize our memories, to sort of exploit — the national trauma that we all suffered together and worked so hard to come through to justify programs that have never been shown to keep us safe, but cost us liberties and freedoms that we don’t need to give up and our Constitution says we should not give up.”
He joined the Army Special Forces and broke both legs and was released. He feels the Iraq war was launched on false intelligence. He has seen faults in the intelligence system from within. Snowden claims any cell phone can be turned on, take pictures, record, and follow the pattern of your life. They can even tell who you are sleeping with. NSA has a computer program to get inside your thought process and he is very concerned about the lack of respect for the public’s freedom. He raised complaints and concerns to NSA’s General Counsel at Ft. Mead and Hawaii to change NSA's methods. He claims he did not take any documents that could hurt individuals. He felt anyone could walk into NSA and easily take information since it is not audited. He handed the documents to Glenn Greenwald and various newspapers such as NY Times and the Washington Post and they published the material after checking with the US Government.
Snowden stated: “I think the most important idea is to remember that there have been times throughout history where what is right is not the same as what is legal. Sometimes to do the right thing, you have to break a law. And the key there is in terms of civil disobedience. You have to make sure that what you’re risking, what you’re bringing onto yourself does not serve as a detriment to anyone else.”  He would like to return but expects a jail sentence.
There have been radical changes in Government since 9/11 and he feels he is protecting the country because the mass collection needs to end. Many reforms have already occurred based on his release of this information. He feels senior officials have power they should not have. Snowden described himself as a patriot for trying to stop violations of the Constitution.
Secretary of State John Kerry feels he is a traitor and a coward. He is undermining America around the world by stealing Government secrets and revealing the US has been obtaining data from many of its citizens and people around the world. Thanks to NBC

Captain Robert Durant Passes On

PENNINGTON - Captain Robert Joseph Durant was a commercial pilot friend of mine and avid UFO researcher who passed away peacefully at his home in New Jersey on May 21, 2014, following a 2-1/2 year struggle from the effect of a stroke.
He was born on July 7, 1938, in Akron, Ohio. He He is survived by his wife, Mauricette; son Stefan R. Durant, and daughter Jennifer L. Mohr. Bob graduated from the Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering and entered US Navy flight training and was commissioned a lieutenant and flew helicopters.
Upon discharge, he joined Pan American Airways in 1967 as a pilot, rising to the rank of captain. Bob continued flying internationally with Delta Airlines, retiring in 1998. He was a licensed ham radio operator. He had learned Remote Viewing from Ingo Swan and they had viewed the Moon and saw aliens conducting mining operations in a dark soil. He made a DVD claiming Roswell was the Holy Grail of Ufology, called “Roswell Yes”, the best report ever made about the crash of an extraterrestrial vehicle. Holland Tall Grass Crop Circle

Hoeven – Nancy Talbot, BLT Research reports, “Shortly after dark on Tuesday night, April 22nd, Robbert got the feeling that another circle was coming and that it would be near the village of Hoeven where he grew up. As Roy was with Robbert that evening they drove to the farm fields around Hoeven, repeatedly checking a particular field (one with tall grass) which Robbert “saw” in his "mind’s eye” as the one where the new formation would be—but they could find nothing.

When Robbert got back to his apartment, he Skyped Nancy, during which conversation he repeated his strong feeling that a new circle was coming—saying that now he could not only “see” what it would look like, he could also “smell” the grass in which it would appear. I (Nancy) immediately asked him to make a sketch of what he “saw” and hold it up so I could see it through Skype, so I could be a witness to the accuracy of his “vision” when the actual formation appeared. Having worked with Robbert since 1997, he is always accurate about these “knowings” about where and/or what “design” new formations will be. I expected that a new formation would appear soon. He drew a rough sketch of what he “saw” and held it up to his Skype camera so I could see it.

This is the sketch that Robbert showed me through his Skype camera on the night of April 22-23rd— about 24 hours before it appeared and compare it with Yvonne’s aerial photo taken in the morning at the right.

On Wednesday the 23rd Robbert was in meetings with the author of a new book (in Dutch) about him which has just come out and some other visitors, and so was with many people all day. After dinner with this group Robbert was driven back to home around 9:15 pm where he soon “felt the energies” again and “saw” (in his mind’s eye) a flash of light over the same field where he and Roy had looked the night before. Finally his feeling that the new formation was coming was so strong he called Roy again (Roy lives 25 minutes away, by car), to ask if he'd come back so they could go check the field again. Robbert felt the same urgency as would a father-to-be who has just been told his wife has gone to the hospital to give birth — that to him "these crop circles feel like my children.” After an hour or so Roy returned and at midnight they reached the same field and this time could immediately see the new formation in the tall grass that looks just like the drawing that Robbert showed me thru Skype the night before.

There is a large (22m+ overall diameter) thin ring with nine circles and one large ring inside it, forming a lovely cross…with three circles leading up to the edge of the big thin ring (overall length = 28m).

When Roy returned in the morning he spoke to the “overseer" of the fields and stopped to speak to him. This man said, “He has been patrolling his area for decades, day and night, to protect the area from poachers. In all this time he has never seen a formation being made by Robbert (or anyone else); in spite of the fact that many circles have been found in this area over the years. And he told Roy he can find no explanation for how these many crop circles have occurred….that, to him, this is a genuine mystery.”
The farmer indicated that he does not want people in the field since the grass is very tall and ready to be mowed and would be cut quickly. He did not mind that Roy took photos.

Chinese Lunar Images

US and China now have satellites over the Moon and China has landed the Chang'e-3 lander and launched the Yutu Rabbit Rover. The Chinese government is slowly releasing lunar images that confirm structures and tall towers on the Moon. The images are on the official Chinese Army website, and they will likely be released to show the world the US has kept secret alien capabilities.

Chinese TV imagery shows a pyramid like structure and domes indicating the aliens are likely monitoring Earth.

Arkansas Flashing Lights

Hot Springs -- I was sitting in the courtyard at work on May 26, 2014, and looking up and I saw a sudden flash of light in my peripheral vision and attempted to locate the craft. After a few seconds, I saw the light flashing again as it rapidly flashed a white light as it moved silently west. It made a 110 degree turn to the right and was now heading NE. It meandered back to the west again for a few seconds and then turned once again to the NE. At the point, I lost sight of it so I went through the building out to the other side, quickly grabbing a coworker who also saw a flash of light and three streaks of light. Thanks to MUFON CMS

California Cylinder

Simi Valley -- My good friend from MIT has been dissecting my photos for the past five days and he can't find any reason for the object in my pictures, so there for it will be unexplained on May 18, 2014. I’m not looking for any gain so it would be fine to post the images. He made it clear to me to disclose that there are photos of an object that is in a curious contrast to current known aircraft and weather phenomenon.

I happened to stop at Rocky Peak with my dog at 5:05 AM and noticed the sunrise over San Fernando/Simi Valley. I grabbed my camera (Nikon D7000) and proceeded to snap a few pictures. This cylinder was the last thing I would have expected to catch on camera. Some hikers asked me, "Did you see the strange "scaffold" in the sky? Thanks to MUFON CMS

Florida Light

Sarasota – On May 21, 2014, the light was going up, down, made turns with all strange movements and was just stopping and hovering. The sighting was near Davis Highway and Highway 90. I took this video with my Galaxy 4 tablet at 6:45 AM

Georgia Red Mass

Conyers -- My friend and I and the dog were standing outside when we both looked up in the sky and saw this massive object. It must have been at a 1,000 feet high. He looked at me and said "Grab your camera" so I did and filmed it. Note -- Photo was increased in brightness.

Illinois Orb

Aurora -- As I walked outside to photograph Mars to the West I noticed a bright orange orb in the flight path of O'Hare Airport on May 22, 2014.
I grabbed my new Nikon camera and tried to snap shots as fast as possible. Within the span of two minutes it was gone but managed to get a few images right in telephoto lens. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Michigan Cylinder

Sellersburg -- I saw two lights from about ten miles away on May 26, 2014, as I got closer the object was moving very slow so I pulled into a road and got out of my car, as I stood there I managed to take one very bad picture but I heard no sound and as it flew over me I saw it had three lights, one in the front and two in the back with a dim white light to connect all three, their light was pure white and very bright and it flew right over me as clear as day and was about 100 feet in length and about 600 feet in the air, I watched as it proceeds to fly over the nearby football field without a sound or any flashing lights, I realized that what I saw wasn't from this world and I got back in the car and drove home this whole sighting was around 3-4 minutes in length. North Carolina Activity

Hickory -- This activity has been observed for the last few years. Activity can only be documented with the aid of a digital camera. I had been recording flying cigars, cones, and discs for some time. On this particular afternoon I was hoping to get more digital shots of the flying cigars. Upon viewing the camera cards on the computer, I realized this was not the usual cigars but something else.
It was wide, flat and moved through the sky as if being flown under control. There are 6 digital shots, showing the subject coming into view on the lower left. It would appear that this is a UFO that has under gone morph sis. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Raleigh -- I was photographing the Camelopardalids shower when I noticed these three star like objects moving east on May 24, 2014. They were moving slowly, in a triangle like formation slower than a satellite and had no blinking lights.
If they had stopped moving, they would appear as stars, like they were that far away. They continued to move to east and faded away moving out into space. I was shooting long exposures and have two images. I was in awe at what I was seeing and only lost sight when they faded away.

Pennsylvania Rocket

On May 22, 2014, I left work and it was raining and pulled into a gas station and saw the rainbow. I rolled my window down and took a picture and went into the store. On my way back to my truck I took one more picture.
Later that night I sent them to my buddy and noticed two rainbows and between the rainbows is a rocket shaped thing with flames.

Washington Orb

Vancouver – On May 17, 2014, I was driving home with my seven year old son who yelled, "I see an asteroid.” I said, “No you didn't it is a plane.” My son started screaming in panic "fire, fire, call 911," I stopped my truck and saw a huge round ball with huge flames! I could see it close, because it was low in the sky. My son is still screaming and scared. I drove right up into my yard. My son opened the door screaming. I finally found my cell and recorded what I could. It came from Vancouver going at an angle right towards Portland, Oregon. It had to of landed. I had seen it close up it was a huge ball of fire with flames. Others saw what we saw and took pictures.
Note: There was a scattered cloud deck at 5,500 feet and skies were overcast at 8,500 feet. Visibility was 10 miles. The object could have been a meteor, but I think this is an unlikely. There was no defined trail. Also given it was seen for 3 minutes and the skies were overcast makes it less likely to be a meteor. Thanks to William Puckett, Director http://www.UFOsnw.com

Whyalla -- It was roughly 5 AM, and I was laying in bed on May 14th 2014, I was looking out my bedroom window, at the stars and I saw a bright flash of light similar to a spot light, like someone shinning a torch down to the ground, the light was present for 1-2 seconds, before completely vanishing. Then at 6 AM, I saw an object which looked like a bright star that was slowly moving across the morning sky and it faded out several times. I don't know if it dissipated. Thanks to John Hayes

North Lakes, Queensland -- I woke up and decided to look at the stars at 5:14 AM, and saw a weird flickering fast object in the sky on May 15th 2014. Three minutes later I saw another object that was much closer with three bright yellow lights with a bright yellow ring around it.
I definitely knew it was a UFO and I was terrified. Ten seconds later it disappeared mysteriously. It is getting to the point where every morning or night I will put a camera outside and record them. I saw two UFOs last month (15th) near my house. Thanks to John Hayes www.UFOinfo.com

Belize Light

Gulf of Mexico – I got up at 4 AM to go the bathroom in our beach house on May 23, 2014, and noticed a bright light hovering over the sea. I knew this was no star so I woke my wife up and told her to grab her camera. This is the second one we have seen and we did not get a picture of the first one. We went out to the beach and it was moving very fast in a small area. She took three photos of it and zoomed in on two. It only seemed like it was a few hundred yards above the sea. After getting the photos we went back to bed and never did see it leave. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Canada Lights

Between Fox Creek and Valleyview, Alberta -- I hit the road again heading home on Highway 43 on May 12th 2014, about 1 AM. I noticed a "white light" straight ahead of me in the sky travelling at a good pace. I thought it was a plane descending into the airstrip at Valleyview. The object then made a slight right hand turn and descended more rapidly. As it turned it changed to a blueish green and yellow orange.
It seemed to hover for a few seconds and then the object changed back to white and started accelerating rapidly upwards, then splitting into two identical symmetrical objects travelling apart from each other and me. Both objects continued to accelerate faster than any plane, and disappeared into the upper layers of the atmosphere. I have seen many meteorites in the past and they were different as the "broke-up" into fragments and glowed at different "light intensities" coming into the earth’s atmosphere. This was different as I have never seen a "meteorite" accelerate, and ascend and disappear into space. Mitch a trucker who works for the same company as I do also saw the lights.

Vernon, British Columbia – We saw a transparent spherical object with dots connecting on the bottom on May 12th 2014 at 9:15 PM. It would take about 5 minutes for them to connect into a perfect circle, and then it would restart. There were roughly 15-20 dots. After about 20 minutes, the lights went out and one single dot on the bottom started blinking. It almost looked as if it was sucking something up. And it didn't move an inch. Oberhausen -- I was walking with my girlfriend and our dog and we looked into the sky on May 18, 2014, and I saw a round white UFO flying in a straight line that eventually disappeared. The whole event took 30 seconds. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Mexico Object

Perote, Veracruz –The disc was not seen with the naked eye, and only was seen in the photos taken on November 14, 2013.
In this area there are craters, lakes and volcanoes my colleagues and I have taken many pictures and there appears like a path or something they follow. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Puerto Rico Lights

Caguas -- We were sitting on the balcony at my brother’s house and I saw lights that looked like fire works on May 16, 2014. I then realized there was no smoke. Then the lights started to move and I showed them to my wife and sister in law. We were all in shock.
We took pictures and a video with my new camera that stopped working and I had to throw it out. I also believe I have a day light photo but not sure. We took a daylight picture of a round object. Thanks to MUFON CMS

United Kingdom England Sightings

Risca – Photos were taken over a small mining village in Wales nearby Twmblarn. The pictures were taken in October 2011. Note in pictures 744 and 722 the 'hook' shape object,

Molesworth, Cambridgeshire – I noticed two star like objects in the distance coming towards me at 2 AM, on May 13th 2104. One of the lights was brighter than the other and went out. I followed the direction of the other light as they passed. I could clearly see three plane type objects uniformly spaced apart. The rear of them appeared to be of a boomerang shape with orange/yellow glows either side with a red glow in the middle. There was also a very slow red strobe light and made a low hum flying west. I am sure the West Harrow witness also saw it.

West Harrow, London -- At 1.13 AM, I saw a very big and bright light moving fast but not leaving any trail behind on May 13, 2014. It was not a shooting star or meteorite. It lasted for 2 or 3 seconds in greenish colours. As it flew above the houses there was a deep faint whooshing sound like a deep engine. The sound would have easily gone un-noticed if the object did not catch my attention first.

Newton Abbot Devon -- I took these photographs at 11.29 AM on May 15, 2014, of what appears to be a domed saucer. I was taking photos of UFOs as I could clearly see them, but my friend could not. There were airplanes nearby the UFOs. I took many UFO photos the same day.
Note: Analysis indicates that the two original photos sent by the witness were not edited and were captured by a Fujifilm Fine Pix F900EXR 16MP Digital Camera. Astronomen met handen in het haar na krachtige uitbarsting Andromedanevel - HLN.be

In de naburige Andromedanevel heeft de Swift-ruimtetelescoop van de NASA gisteren een krachtige uitbarsting waargenomen, zo heeft het NBC News gemeld. Vandaag volgen er echter al berichten als zou het om "vals alarm" gaan.

Enorme vlek van Jupiter krimpt steeds sneller - HLN.be

Midden op de planeet Jupiter zit al eeuwenlang een gigantische rode vlek, een enorme storm, en die vlek wordt steeds kleiner. De doorsnee is nu nog maar 16.500 kilometer, kleiner dan ooit eerder gemeten. Dat blijkt uit nieuw onderzoek van de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA, dat de ruimtetelescoop Hubble naar Jupiter heeft laten kijken. De oorzaak van de krimp is niet bekend.

De Grote Rode Vlek is een storm, die vanaf de aarde te zien is met telescopen. De wind haalt er snelheden tot 680 kilometer per uur. Het is niet bekend hoe lang de storm al raast. In de 17e eeuw zagen astronomen de vlek mogelijk al. Een paar jaar geleden slokte de storm een kleinere storm op.

Eind 19e eeuw was de vlek nog ongeveer 41.000 kilometer in doorsnee. Dat betekent dat de aarde er drie keer in zou passen. Rond 1980 was de doorsnee nog maar 23.335 kilometer. De storm bleek in 2009 verder gekrompen, tot bijna 18.000 kilometer, en is nu dus 16.500 kilometer.

Tussen 1996 en 2006 werd de vlek dagelijks een kilometer kleiner. Nu is dat al drie keer zo veel. Als dat continu door zou gaan, is het kenmerk van Jupiter over enkele decennia verdwenen. Wetenschappers durven echter niet te zeggen of het echt zo ver kan komen.

SpaceX onthult ruimtetaxi om astronauten naar ISS te brengen - HLN.be

Het ruimtevaartbedrijf SpaceX heeft gisteravond zijn nieuwe ruimtevaartuig Dragon V2 voorgesteld. Die moet binnen drie jaar Amerikaanse astronauten naar het Internationale Ruimtestation (ISS) brengen. Daarmee zal een einde komen aan de afhankelijkheid van de Russische Sojoez.

Het zal de eerste keer zijn dat astronauten vanop Amerikaanse grond de ruimte ingeslingerd worden sinds de laatste vlucht van de spaceshuttle in juli 2011. Sindsdien zijn de Verenigde Staten afhankelijk van de Russische Sojoez-ruimtecapsules om hun astronauten in het ISS te krijgen. Dat kost ongeveer 70 miljoen dollar per zitje.

De Dragon V2 kan zeven astronauten vervoeren en is een grote technologische sprong voorwaarts, aldus de CEO en stichter van SpaceX, de miljardair Elon Musk, tijdens een persevenement in het hoofdkwartier van zijn bedrijf in Californië. Musk is tevens de man achter het autobedrijf Tesla.

Precisie van een helikopter
Dankzij stuwkracht en het gebruik van andere technologie om de afdaling te vertraging en controleren, moet de witte V2 in staat zijn op de meeste plaatsen te landen met de precisie van een helikopter. Parachutes worden bij de daling enkel ingezet in geval van defecten. Bovendien is het ruimtevaartuig herbruikbaar, wat grote besparingen oplevert.

"Zolang we raketten en ruimtevaartuigen blijven weggooien, zullen we nooit echte toegang tot de ruimte hebben", legde Musk uit. "Het zal altijd ongelooflijk duur blijven."

SpaceX is een van de vier bedrijven die door het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartbureau Nasa zijn geselecteerd om een capsule te ontwikkelen die astronauten naar het ISS kan brengen. In het partnerschap zitten ook Boeing, Sierra Nevada en Blue Origin. De druk om een capsule voor astronautenvervoer naar het ISS in gebruik te nemen, is sterk verhoogd door de grote spanningen tussen Moskou en Washington, vanwege de crisis in Oekraïne.

Contract van 1,6 miljard dollar
De Dragon was het eerste privéruimtetuig dat zich aan het ISS koppelde. Dat gebeurde in 2012, toen de capsule vracht leverde. SpaceX sloot een contract van 1,6 miljard dollar (1,18 miljard euro) met Nasa om in totaal twaalf vrachtmissies naar het ISS uit te voeren. Daarvan vonden al drie succesvolle missies plaats.

Nasa zelf werkt dan weer aan de Orion-capsule, die op een dag astronauten naar een asteroïde en de planeet Mars moet brengen.

Rode planeet Op Mars is een nieuwe krater waargenomen op basis van 'voor en na'-foto's. De meer dan 45 meter brede krater ontstond eind maart 2012 al, maar werd pas een paar maanden geleden per toeval ontdekt door Bruce Cantor. De Amerikaanse nieuwssite Huffington Post spreekt van een primeur, gezien het om de grootste krater gaat die op dergelijke manier gespot werd.

NASA Reports on Credible UFO Sightings in Ancient Times

The description of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) has remained fairly consistent throughout history, stretching back into antiquity. While many could be attributed to natural phenomena, an in-depth study by NASA’s Richard Stothers found “There nonetheless remains a small residue of puzzling accounts, and regardless of what interpretation one places on them, these constitute a phenomenon that spans centuries of time and widely different cultures.”

Stothers (1939–2009) received a degree in mathematics at Princeton University, earned his Ph.D. at Harvard, and was a permanent member of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Here’s a look at 5 UFO sightings Stothers deemed puzzling in a 2007 report.

1. Chariots in the Sky Witnessed by Many

Historian Josephus wrote around 65 A.D. about a fantastical sighting over Judea: “On the 21st of the month Artemisium, there appeared a miraculous phenomenon, passing belief. Indeed, what I am about to relate would, I imagine, have been deemed a fable, were it not for the narratives of eyewitnesses and the subsequent calamities which deserved to be so signalized. For, before sunset throughout all parts of the country, chariots were seen in the air and armed battalions hurtling through the clouds and encompassing the cities.”

Josephus likely witnessed this event himself, said Stothers, though he bolstered his credibility by appealing to eyewitness accounts. The description does not seem to correspond to any natural phenomena, Strothers wrote.

2. Thousands of Roman Soldiers Witness UFO?

Plutarch wrote of a sighting witnessed by thousands. In 74 B.C., the Roman army was moving to engage the forces of King Mithridates VI in the area of modern-day Turkey.

“With no apparent change of weather, but all on a sudden, the sky burst asunder, and a huge, flame-like body was seen to fall between the two armies,” he wrote. “In shape, it was most like a wine-jar (pithoi), and in color, like molten silver. Both sides were astonished at the sight, and separated. This marvel, as they say, occurred in Phrygia, at a place called Otryae.”

Stothers pointed out that freshly fallen meteorites are black, not “molten silver” color, which suggests it was not a meteorite. Plutarch also made no mention of the impact.

Stothers wrote: “The object must have measured much more than a meter across, since it was easily resolved at a distance greater than half the range of a bowshot. If it had remained on the ground, a meteorite of such size would doubtless have become a cult object in Phrygia, with its long tradition of meteorite worship, yet later historical records referring to Phrygian meteorites are silent about it.”

Nonetheless, there is a chance the UFO was a bolide, a bright meteor that often explodes.

3. Sightings During the Second Punic War in Rome

Many sightings were recorded during and following the Second Punic War (218–201 B.C.) in Livy’s prodigy lists. The lists were derived from the Annales Maximi, published by the Pontifex Maximus of Rome. This source is considered trustworthy and accurate, explained Stothers, because of the time-consuming and thorough procedure required by Roman authorities to investigate claims before they would be recorded.

In Rome, in the winter of 218 B.C., “A spectacle of ships (navium) gleamed in the sky.”

In 217 B.C., “at Arpi, round shields (parmas) were seen in the sky.”

In 173 B.C., “at Lanuvium a spectacle of a great fleet was said to have been seen in the sky.”

It is not likely that suggestive cloud formations would have been mistaken for UFOs, Strother said, since these formations had long been understood and were familiar features. These sightings are also not likely a mock sun, because mock suns are routinely described as “double suns” or “triple suns.”

4. ‘Angel Hair’ Glassy Fibers

In modern UFO reports, it is common to hear about either glassy fibers or a chalky substance left behind by the UFO, known as angel hair. Ancient reports also include angel hair.

In 196 A.D., the historian Cassius Dio wrote: “A fine rain resembling silver descended froma clear sky upon the Forum of Augustus. I did not, it is true, see it as it was falling, but noticed it after it had fallen, and by means of it I plated some bronze coins with silver; they retained the same appearance for three days, but by the fourth day all the substance rubbed on them had disappeared.”

Two other “rains of chalk” were reported in Cales 214 B.C. and in Rome 98 B.C.

5. UFO Inhabited

Pope Pius I’s brother was probably the only witness of this UFO sighting near Via Campana, Italy, around 150 A.D.: “On a sunny day, a ‘beast’ like a piece of pottery (ceramos) about 100 feet in size, multicolored on top and shooting out fiery rays, landed in a dust cloud accompanied by a ‘maiden’ clad in white.”

Stothers concluded “This collection of what might be termed ancient UFO reports has been culled from a much larger number of reports of aerial objects, most of whose identifications with known phenomena are either certain or at least probable. Embedded in the mass of relatively explicable ancient reports, however, is a small set of unexplained (or at least not wholly explained) reports from presumably credible witnesses.”

“Any viable theory must reckon with the extraordinary persistence and consistency of the phenomena discussed here over many centuries.”

Als je in Japan ‘kappa’ zegt, wordt iedereen bang. Kappa is een mythisch wezen dat in het water zou leven en lijkt op een kruising tussen een mens en een reptiel. Volgens RocketNews24 gaat het om een voet en een arm van een kappa die in 1818 is neergeschoten. Foto’s die van de ledematen zijn gemaakt, zien er bizar echt uit. Mensen beweren wel vaker resten van een kappa te hebben gevonden, maar het bleek tot nu toe steeds te gaan om nepskeletten.

Tot en met 22 juni aanstaande kunnen mensen met hun eigen ogen zien of het gaat om iemand die echt overblijfselen van het mythische wezen in bezit heeft. De kappa zouden zich voornamelijk ophouden in vijvers en rivieren. Ze hebben zich aangepast aan leven in en onder water en kunnen dan ook uitstekend zwemmen.

Het bekendste kenmerk van een kappa is een met water gevulde holte op zijn hoofd. Een kappa krijgt zijn kracht grotendeels van het vocht in deze holte. Kappa vallen graag mensen lastig. Volgens verhalen zouden kappa zich zelfs voeden met kinderen die zich te dicht bij het water begeven en met ingewanden van mensen die gaan zwemmen op plekken waar kappa leven.

Bij sommige vijvers en andere wateren staan zelfs vandaag de dag borden om mensen voor kappa te waarschuwen. Kappa zijn echter niet altijd kwaadaardig. Er zijn er ook die nieuwsgierig zijn naar de menselijke beschaving. Ze kunnen in bedwang worden gehouden met komkommer, het enige voedsel waar ze meer de voorkeur aan geven dan vlees.

The Mainstream Disconnect

Regarding why supposedly intelligent people have such difficulties with the Billy Meier case and its impeccably accurate prophecies and predictions

In recent weeks I’ve been sending information on the Billy Meier UFO case, including the prophetically accurate scientific information, to many different people in the mainstream, including scientists, social commentators, etc. Especially in light of NASA aerospace engineer, Matthew Wiezckiewicz’, recent endorsement of the authenticity of the Meier case, I thought that there’d be some responses, even if they were only polite expressions of lack of interest in the information and its historical implications.

Unfortunately though – and unlike what I used to previously experience a lot – they won’t even write back to tell me how bogus and nonsensical, etc., the information and evidence is. Giving them the benefit of the doubt as intelligent people that know the case is genuine, the obvious reason for their silence is that they don’t see how it can profit them, or why they should risk their “credibility” by acknowledging it.

This attitude seems to extend to all sorts of “hard-hitting journalists”, who even complain about the “mainstream media” not doing its job!

For instance, quoting from the founders of one website (whose motto is, “We don’t cover the news – We uncover the truth”) to whom I submitted the information on the Meier case, “Over the years, however, I have learned how the media gatekeepers, both ‘mainstream’ and ‘alternative,’ will not allow the biggest, most disturbing revelations to see the light of day.”

Kinda like something we’ve been saying for a long time as well! So why have they too simply ignored my attempt to communicate with them? Probably for the very same reasons I stated above, as well as possibly some associations in their minds with the utterly delusional, tabloidesque, idiotic ramblings from the “UFO industry” that pollute everything with their bogus UFO “contactees”, “abductees” and “alien hybrid babies” garbage – all of which gains easy access for public dissemination. I don’t know for sure and I…welcome they’re being courageous enough to respond, as of course I’ll be sending them this article.

We live in a world where there are loud public voices such as Ann Coulter’s, which reflect the opinions of a significant numbers of the populace. In fact, her painfully infantile views, suicidally selfish beyond reason and in complete disregard and defiance of nature and its laws – an inevitably painful losing combination – reflect the majority views of an entire political party. Ironically, for truth “uncoverers”, the fact that Meier long, long ago accurately foretold the entire catastrophic environmental (and geopolitical) mess that is right now just unfolding, is something that they too simply don’t want to…uncover.

And while the good folks who “uncover the truth” may be on the so-called right side of many issues, they too have their limits as to how far they will go. The dead-end game of the religiously derived, insane, advantage oriented system of partisan politics infects even those who may think that they’re immune to it. How can we expect them to make the great leap in awareness that requires the clarity, honesty and real intelligence to confront the very politically incorrect truth that is the Meier case?

We are so used to the inevitability of disappointments in our so-called leaders that calling ourselves out on the real sham, our fake surprise and astonishment at such predictability, our dutifully reading our lines, “Hey, can you believe what those guys just did?”, is really long overdo. Because politics, like diplomacy, is institutionalized lying, because it is designed to go firmly against the laws of Creation itself, we’re indeed stuck in the old “doing the same thing, getting the same results” brand of collective insanity.

Several years ago I told Meier that, based on everything I’d read, I didn’t think that the Plejaren actually understood us very well, as least for too long a time. Surprisingly, he agreed with me and explained that they didn’t understand the enormity, depth, breadth and reality of just how much we lied…to ourselves as well as others. It actually surprised me because they, and their forefathers, have obviously been well aware of what goes on in this asylum for far, far, far longer than we have been.

But Meier said that they weren’t really authorized to look more deeply into people’s personal lives, at least for a very long time. The reasoning had been that to do so was a violation of privacy and possibly free will. In other words for a time they pretty much accepted us, as we seemed to represent ourselves, including a lot of the claims by people who said that they were contacted by extraterrestrials themselves. (The revisions and corrections the Plejaren made pertaining to these alleged contactees have also caused some understandable problems and confusion in the case.)

Now, for those of us who through our own extensive research and reasoning have already concluded that the case and its information is real, credible and true, we must recognize that such discussions about the Plejaren are well outside of the frame of reference of the majority of the population and, let’s be honest, seem bizarre and ridiculous. Again though, it’s only because they either haven’t yet done their own due diligence or lack the courage and intellectual honesty required to do so. We know that it’s going to be an immensely long time before significant numbers of people turn their attention to this information, let alone the specific, brilliant spiritual teaching, and the recommendations and advice that could save humanity untold grief if intelligently considered and implemented.

Nonetheless, I will continue to reach out to any and all reasonably intelligent people where there’s even a glimmer of a possibility that they are capable, let alone willing to really uncover the truth and, through their own public presence, offer the same opportunity to their audiences.

Georgia, one of the most ancient and beautiful countries in the world, is situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The name of the country is Sakartvelo in the Georgian language. Georgia is a mountainous country bordered by the Russian Federation in the north, Turkey in the southeast, Armenia in the south, Azerbaijan in the east and by the Black Sea in the west.

Georgia, according to ancient Greek authors, was a fabulously wealthy land with an advanced civilization. The Georgian language is more than 2000 years old; it is one of the world’s oldest languages with its own unique alphabet.

Georgia developed as a kingdom (Kingdom of Kartli, or the Caucasus Iberia) around the IV century BCE (Before Common Era), and reached the height of its prosperity in the XII and XIII centuries.

Georgian culture evolved over thousands of years with its foundations in Colchian and the Caucasus Iberian civilizations, continuing into the ascent of the unified Georgian Kingdom under the single monarchy of the Bagrationi. The royal Bagratid dynasty claimed to be descendants of Biblical King David of Israel.

Georgia is a relatively small country, but for centuries, Georgia’s geographic position has opened it to religious and cultural influences from the West, Persia, Turkey, and Russia; it was a crossroad between Christian and Muslim traditions, a land of ethnic and religious tolerance. The country had suffered foreign invasions and destruction, it was mortally wounded more than a few times, but like the mythical bird Phoenix, it would rise up, rebuild, and proudly live on.

In this article we will look at the strange phenomena that occurred in the sky over Georgia in the XIII and XVII centuries. During the reign of Queen Tamar Bagrationi, the great granddaughter of King David IV, the Georgian Kingdom reached the zenith of its political might. Queen Tamar left to her son and heir, Giorgi IV Lasha (he ruled in the years 1212-1223), a powerful and tolerant multinational kingdom with a unique Georgian Christian culture.

King Giorgi was planning to join the Crusaders and expand his kingdom by liberating Jerusalem, but the emergence of nomadic invaders unified by the iron fist of Chinggis Khan (Lord of the Universe), from faraway steppes and deserts, put an end to his plans. The Mongol Empire of Temuzhin (Genghis Khan or Chinggis Khan in Mongolian) was spreading like wild fire through Eurasia, from the shores of the Pacific Ocean to the heart of Europe.The Mongols of the 13th century laid waste to nations, cities, towns, and villages; to the nomads, Chinggis Khan brought glory, the conquests, a code of conduct and organization.

In the year 1206 CE (Common Era), Chinggis Khan proclaimed himself ruler of the Mongol Empire; in 1211 CE, the Khans’ armies started marching east across the Gobi Desert and assaulted China.

It was the policy of Chinggis Khan and his successors that any city or state that resisted the Mongol armies should be destroyed completely.

In the year 1218 CE, the Mongols captured territory in south Kazakhstan and north and south route of Silk Road in China. In that same year of 1218 CE, the invasion of Transoxiana (modern-day southwest Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan) had taken place.

A Star with a Tail

Grigol Abashidze (1914–1994) was a prominent Georgian writer and academician. He wrote a series of epic historical novels, including Lasharela (1957), Didi ghame (1963), and Tsotne Dadiani anu kartvelta datsema da amaghleba (1975). In this trilogy, Abashidze masterly discussed the history of 13th century Georgia and the establishment of the Mongol yoke. He continued to write well into his age and published his last works at the age of 80, shortly before his death in 1994.

In his novel Lasharela (citing the 1984 Russian language edition, Chapter 24, page 229),Grigol Abashidze described an unusual phenomenon that occurred in the period of Georgia’s history: 

…A redoubtable, heretofore unknown power was approaching the country from the East. Neighboring countries to the southeast of Georgia were shrouded in guarded silence.  It was as if stifling heat had descended upon earth, and everything living was suspended. A great storm, all devouring fire was coming from the East. Like birds and animals that feel the approach of forest fire and flee to save themselves, caravans of merchants, pilgrims, and wandering dervishes started moving from the Central Asia to the Middle East, to seek refuge. Sheet lightnings of the faraway fire had not yet appeared on the horizon, dark clouds had not yet covered the  clear sky, but the proximity of the terrible disaster was felt everywhere and all over. Astrologers read the unavoidability of the approaching disaster through the unusual movement of the planets, and wandering prophets predicted the end of the world was near. In the middle of August, a star with a tail had appeared in the sky. Initially, it was sighted during the Saturday vespers hour. Its tail grew in size each night. In the beginning, the tailed guest appeared only at daybreak, later it became visible also at midnight, and in a few days it brightly glowed all through the night.

It arrived from the East, and its light at first barely reached the ground, but then it strengthened and started glowing so blindingly as to cause people to fear and tremble when they looked at the star. It grew, and assumed the shape of a spear, and other stars faded in the radiance of its rays. The fear that was caused by appearance of an unusual heavenly body was also intensified due to the powerful earthquake that took place in Georgia at the same time. A great temple was destroyed, and four priests perished under its ruins.  The Church and astrologers prophesied great calamities, and predicted that the sword of an enemy will shatter peace and quiet of Georgia.

Grigol Abashidze’s Lasharela

While Abashidze does not state the year, it is clear from the analysis of Georgia’s history in general, and his novel Lasharela in particular that the sighting of the unusual heavenly body, or a UFO, took place in 1219 CE.

Abashidze had used a number of sources while working on his wonderful, gripping novels. Among them were historical chronicles written by Rashid-Ed-Din, Ibn El Asir, Nesevi, and Juvein. The primary source Abashidze had used was Kartlis tskhovreba (A life of Georgia), which narrates Georgia’s history from ancient times to the XIV century.

This was the book about the heroic past of the Georgian people; and it remains a great source for the history of ancient and feudal, medieval Georgia. The first volume contains historical essays giving an account of events that took place in the XII through XIV centuries. These works are by the historian of Queen Tamar, the historian of King Lasha Giorgi, and an anonymous XIV-century author, who wrote of events that took place in the 13th  and 14th centuries. Jamtaagmtsera was the name given by researchers to the chronicle of the unidentified chronicler of Georgia, and Jamtaagmtsereli was the name given to this anonymous, but important writer.

If the spear-shaped UFO sighted in 1219 CE was there to observe the coming disasters that would engulf Georgia and its neighbors, then its mission was not in vain. That year, 150 thousand Mongol warriors had attacked the lands ruled by Shah Muhammed II of Khorezm. Their fierce onslaught crushed ancient fortresses of Otrar, Khogent, Urgench, Samarkand, and then Khorezm. The Shah’s son, Jelal-ad-Din Mingburnu, was chased by Mongols throughout Asia, but valiantly fought back when possible. His armies invaded Georgia years later, burned and pillaged much of it in 1226, weakening the kingdom that would face the Mongol empire shortly thereafter.

In the fall of 1220 CE, a detachment of Mongolian soldiers led by military leaders Zhebe-noyon and Subuda-bagatur who pursued the oustedShah Muhammed of Khorezmto the Caspian Sea, reached Azerbaijan, entered Armenia (part of the medieval Georgian kingdom) and defeated King Lasha’s powerful combined army of Georgians and Armenians in the battle of Khunan at the Kotman River. There were around 20,000 Mongol troops, on a reconnaissance mission against some 60,000 Georgians and Armenians. Giorgi Lasha himself was severely wounded in the chest in the battle against the Mongols; he died of his wounds in 1223. The Mongols could not be stopped by any force, and even King Giorgi’s horsemen were no match for them. The Mongol army mainly consisted of lightly armored but heavily armed horse-archers.

The Mongol generals did not plan to conquer the Caucasus at that time and turned back. They returned with a much greater army in January 1221. The battle at Bardav was fought without a clear winner, and the Mongols withdrew to the Caspian Sea. They knew that it would be extremely difficult to fight the brave Georgians in their land, full of gorges and mountains. Much blood would have to be spilled.

The Mongols returned in 1236 in a full-scale invasion, forcing Georgia (weakened by Jelal-ad-Din’s bloody reign) into submission by 1243.

What was that “star with a tail” over Georgia? It possessed rays that reached the ground, and it hovered over the land for days. Was it a triangular UFO, as the description seems to indicate? I will continue searching through the ancient records and chronicles to learn more of this mysterious UFO that visited the kingdom of Georgia in 1219 CE.

XVII Century, Georgia under the Ottoman Empire

In the XV century, Georgia became an isolated Christian country surrounded by the Islamic world. The country descended into poverty, lost touch with its co-religionists, and eventually was fragmented into four smaller kingdoms. To preserve their independence and faith, to safeguard their territories from distant tribes moved there by foreign rulers, the Georgian people had waged a bloody and heroic struggle during the next centuries.

The XVII century was full of hardships and suffering for the people of Georgia. But indomitable Georgians rose up to liberate Georgia from the Sefevide Persia and the Ottoman Turkey, on a number of occasions.

Western Georgia belonged to the Osman Ottoman Empire  by the terms of the 1639 treaty.

Deacon Zakaria Sarkawagi was a churchman and Armenian historian. He was known as Zakaria of Kanaker, for he was born in 1626 in the village of Kanaker, now a suburb of Yerevan; he died in 1699 in monastery of Hovhannavank (in the present-day Armenia). His writings dealt with the socioeconomic history of the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the 17th century and describe the wars between the Sefevids and the Ottomans in Armenia and Mesopotamia. His manuscripts are kept in Yerevan, in the Matenadaran Archives. Sarkawagi’s writings were published in 1870, Zakaria Sarkawagi patmagrut’iwn (Chronicle).Khronika, translated by M. Darbinian-Melikian (Moscow, 1969) was the Russian translation based on all available manuscripts.

Mikhail Gershtein, the foremost UFO researcher in Russia today, has mentioned two works of Sarkawagi that contain fascinating descriptions of UFOs (Mikhail Gerstein, Po tu storonu NLO, Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2002). He referred to the article published in the extremely popular Soviet magazine Tekhnika-Molodyozhi (Issue 6, 1991), where a number of articles about UFOs, ancient astronaut hypothesis, and paranormal phenomena had been published by its audacious editors during the scant, less ideologically rigid periods of the Soviet era.

The article, titled Kamennaya letopis’ vtorzheniy was written by Akop Tonakanyan, the Chairman of the Ufology Commission of Yerevan, and Vadim Orlov, the science writer for Tekhnika-Molodyozhi. It mentioned two manuscripts of Zakaria Sarkawagi.

One was titled Regarding the fall of light from the sky, and the other manuscript was titled About heavenly signs in the sky.

The first one contains description of a phenomenon that Zakaria Sarkawagi observed in 1641.

In the day the cross was erected, he wrote, during the sunset, it was not dark yet, and the daylight continued. Suddenly, the ether on the eastern side exploded, and descending was a large and blue light. Wide and long, it descended to approach the Earth, and its light illuminated everything around, brighter than the Sun. And the front part of the light rotated like a wheel, moving to the north, red and white (sic),  and in front of the light, at the distance of an open palm (of a hand-P.S.) was a star, the size of Venus. My father sand, crying, six sharakans*; the light was still visible, but later departed and became invisible, and we heard later that this wonderful light was observed in Akhaltsikhe *.

In the other manuscript, About heavenly signs in the sky, Zakaria Sarkawagi described a mysterious phenomenon from 1679.

One night everyone saw in the air something (that looked like-P.S.) like a staff and spear. The ends were like those of a lance. They began to turn gradually east and west. This lasted for 20 days, and then quickly disappeared. After that a star appeared; a very large one, of yellow color, with long and bulky hair that pointed to the west. And the hair radiated and like sparks fell on the ground. This lasted for a month and two days. (The star-P.S)Never moved from the spot, was visible sometimes in the evening, sometimes in the morning, and sometimes at night, but later would disappear.

Perhaps there are more observations about the mysterious spear-shaped UFOs scattered throughout ancient manuscripts.

*Sharakan is the name of a remarkable body of Armenian liturgical songs dating back as far as medieval times; the songs are remarkable not just for their antiquity, but for their exquisite, often heartrending melodies. Sharakan is sung for about two or three minutes, hence, the phenomenon lasted about fifteen minutes.

*Akhaltsikhe is a small city in southwestern Georgia. In 1628 the city became the center of Ahiska Province of the Ottoman Empire. Today, the city is populated by Georgians, Armenians, Jews, Muslims, and Russians.

A scientific team comprised of Louis Irwin from the University of Texas at El Paso, Alberto Fairén from Cornell University, Abel Méndez from the Planetary Habitability Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, and Dirk Schulze-Makuch from Washington State University evaluated the expanding list of confirmed exoplanets (currently at 1,792), then evaluated the density, temperature, substrate, chemistry, distance from its parent star, and age of each planet. The team used this information to compute a Biological Complexity Index (BCI), rating these planets on a scale of 0 to 1.0 according to characteristics assumed to be important for supporting multicellular life.

Professor Schulze-Makuch explained on Air & Space Magazine‘s website:

The BCI calculation revealed that 1 to 2 percent of known exoplanets showed a BCI rating higher than Jupiter’s moon Europa, which has a subsurface global ocean that may be hospitable to life.  Based on an estimate of 10 billion stars in the Milky Way, and assuming an average of one planet per star, this yields the figure of 100 million. Some scientists believe the number could be 10 times higher.

Schulze-Makuch is also careful to point out that the study does not claim that complex life definitively exists on one hundred million planets. It only points out that the necessary conditions to support that life could exist on that many planets.

The team’s research was published in the journal Challenges in a paper titled “Assessing the Possibility of Biological Complexity on Other Worlds, with an Estimate of the Occurrence of Complex Life in the Milky Way Galaxy.”
