Mogelijke verklaring voor de dubbele piek in de registratie van de magnetische anomalie bij de waarneming in SKW op 9 October 2008
De optredende dubbele piek in de registratie van het magnetische veld is te verklaren als het gevolg van de voortstuwingsveldverdeling in de ruimte rondom de UFO.
Deze veldverdeling verplaatst zich samen met de UFO en beinvloedt de omgeving tijdens zijn verplaatsing in verschillende opeenvolgende fazen te weten eerst een sterketoenametijdens het naderen van de meetopstelling,vervolgens de depressie bij het pal erboven verschijnen om dan een tweede toename te produceren in het verwijderen van de meetplaats.
Het betreft hier het gravitatiegedrag van het voortstuwingsmechanisme . Dit gedrag werd reeds in de literatuur behandeld door IllobrandvonLudwiger in zijn boek *Der Stand der UFO Forschung * waarin de krachtwerkingsgedrag op bomen en voorwerpen in de omgeving omschreven wordt.
De gemeten magnetische veldverdeling verloopt nu identiek aan die van het gravitatieveld om de eenvoudige reden dat de magnetische componente van het E-M veld juist het gravitatieveld opwekt.
Wanneer nu de UFO met zijn begeleidende velden over de meetsite vliegt zal die het gemeten verloop met 2 pieken met daartussen liggende minimum achtereenvolgens in het tijdsverloop van het passeren registreren.

Gevoeligheid van de massa-veer gravimeteropstelling

Bepaling van de gevoeligheid van de massa-veeropstelling als detectiemogelijkheid voor Ufo fenomenen

De stuwkracht die een Ufo van 30 Ton ( gegevens uit het expertise onderzoek van de ufowaarneming door Marius De Wilde in Quarouble (Valenciennes –France) moet leveren om te kunnen zweven tegen de aantrekkingskracht van de aarde in wordt gegeven door de betrekking

F(Newton)= Massa(Kg) . g (m/sec^2) =30000 x 9,81 = 294300 Newton

Uitgaande van deze waarde en stellende dat de gravimeter nog een meetbaar signaal geeft bij een verplaatsing van 0,1 voor de meetmassa , zou dit betekenen dat de hoogte waarop de UFO nog zou gedetecteerd worden gegeven is :

Dx= rek van de veer bij g=9,81 m/sec^2 is 12,3mm dit wil zeggen voor

1mm is dit 9,81/12,3 = 0,794 N of voor 0,1mm wordt dit 0,0974N

Rekening houdend met de kwadratische verzwakking in functie van de afstand komt dit op een afstand van

r^2 = 294300N/0,0974N of r= 1925m

We kunnen dus concluderen dat een UFO boven het meetstation tot een hoogte van 2000m goed te detecteren valt met een veer-massa gravimeter met veerkonstante van 793N/m en een meetmassa van 650 gram. Deze opstelling geeft responsies met een resonantie frequentie tot ca 14 Hz. Deze bandbreedte van de meetopstelling is ruim voldoende om het impulsvormig gedrag van UFOs waar te nemen .( zie onderzoek van Ray Stanford waar frequenties van 6Hz tot 12 Hz gemeten werden in de frequentie analyse van het gravitatiesignaal)

Een passerende Ufo op 930m hoogte , zoals dit het geval was tijdens de waarneming in Sint Katelijne Waver in 2008, zou met de bestaande opstelling een afwijking van de meetmassa veroorzaakt hebben van ca 4,2 mm.

Have Humans devolved through history? Ancient Technology, the ultimate piece of evidence

Have you ever considered the possibility that humans as a civilization have actually de-evolved through time? According to numerous findings across the globe, humans existed on Earth much longer than we have been told by science and religion. The Human species existed on the planet when science said that it was impossible, but as with everything, views can change.

According to many people there is evidence everywhere.

In 1991, during a geological research mission whose purpose was the extraction of gold in the Ural mountains in Russia near the banks of the Kozhim, Narada, and Balbanyu rivers, researchers discovered tiny structures which are now believed to be the product of an ancient civilization which was capable of developing nanotechnology 300,000 years ago.

The pieces discovered are coils, spirals and shafts among the list of unidentified components that were unearthed during the geological missions in the area.

The Russian Academy of sciences performed several tests on these mysterious objects and the results were quite interesting. Researchers found out that the largest pieces that were unearthed were made almost entirely out of copper and the smaller ones from tungsten and molybdenum.

Have Humans Devolved as a species?

The Russian Academy of Science has a structure of 11 specialized scientific divisions, three territorial divisions also referred to as branches, and it consists of 14 regional scientific centers. The Academy has numerous councils, committees and commissions, organized for different purposes and studies.

Is it possible that the human species suffers from Amnesia? Another piece that has caused confusion among people is what appears to be a screw embedded into a piece of rock. The artifact was discovered outside of Moscow in 1998 when Russian researchers were investigating the remains of a meteorite. According to Geologists, the estimated age of the rock is 300-320 million years, older than the dinosaurs and older than everything we know about our species and the planet.

Many scientists have tried explaining the origin and details of the “screw”, some have proposed that it could be the remains of a Crinoids (Marine animals that make up the class Crinoidea of the echinoderms).

There are numerous archaeological discoveries that science cannot understand, we have come across countless findings that have ended up as being just that, findings that have caught the attention of researchers, but have yet to be accurately explained.

In Labinsk, Russia, researchers discovered what appears to be some sort of microchip embedded into stone. According to scholars this discovery marks the beginning of a completely new history, one that many ancient alien theorists have been talking about for years. The object that researchers have found is believed to be some sort of ancient microchip and according to researchers, this ancient microchips dates back millions of years. After countless tests, researchers have come to the conclusion that this antique piece was used as some sort of microchip in ancient times. Many people have even noticed a mysterious “marking” on the microchip: K2000. The million dollar question is, who and what used a microchip that dates back 250 million years?

The Great Sphinx is at least 800,000 years old

Another things that is just incredible is the fact that Ukrainian geologists have studied the Sphinx and concluded that this monument is really old, at least 800,000 years.

A Revolutionary theory that is backed up by science.

The study was presented at the International Conference of Geoarchaeology and Archaeomineralogy held in Sofia titled: GEOLOGICAL ASPECT OF THE PROBLEM OF DATING THE GREAT EGYPTIAN SPHINX CONSTRUCTION.

The authors of this paper are scientists Manichev Vjacheslav I. (Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and Alexander G. Parkhomenko (Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).

The starting point of these two experts is the paradigm shift initiated by West and Schoch, a ‘debate’ intended to overcome the orthodox view of Egyptology referring to the possible remote origins of the Egyptian civilization and, on the other, physical evidence of water erosion present at the monuments of the Giza Plateau.

Ancient global patterns, the answer to history?

What if it turns out to be true that there is a pattern in the ancient monuments scattered across the globe?

Why is it that there are so many monuments across our planet that share so many similarities, not only in design but in construction methods? It seems as if there is a global signature present in all of the monuments that were erected by ancient man. How can science and history explain the fact that around the globe, different cultures and civilizations built very similar monuments... like the Pyramids. Giant structures that can be found from South America to Asia, and mysteriously, they all share great similarities. The question that no one has asked is why? Why did everyone build Pyramids?

Göbekli Tepe is believed to be the oldest place of worship in the world. It stands on the highest point of a vast mountain range located about 15 km northeast of the city of Sanliurfa (formerly Urfa / Edessa), in southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border. The place, according to archaeologists, was erected to the X millennium BC, around 11.5 thousand years ago, before the start of the sedentary.

ETs for Hillary: Why UFO Activists Are Excited About Another Clinton Presidency

Stephen Bassett is ready for Hillary. Bassett, Capitol Hill’s only registered UFO lobbyist, anticipates that another Clinton presidency will offer another shot at what’s long been the Holy Grail for extraterrestrial enthusiasts: full disclosure of what the US government really knows about aliens. “This is the most important issue in the world,” he says.

His enthusiasm is shared by Michael Salla, an academic turned UFO researcher who maintains that aliens have been secretly involved in American politics since the Cold War. He thinks a Clinton presidency would be a good thing for the UFO community. “I think Hillary would play a positive role in getting this information out,” he says. “I think that Hillary definitely is much more the pro-disclosure candidate, where as someone like Jeb Bush is basically status quo.”

The UFO activists’ hopes for Hillary are pinned on the assumption she believes in their cause—despite having never spoken publicly about it. In particular, they are encouraged that John Podesta, Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff, will likely chair Clinton’s campaign and would likely serve in another Clinton White House. As a self-described “curious skeptic,” Podesta has openly called for greater government transparency on UFO-related matters. In his forward to UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, a 2011 book by journalist Leslie Kean, he wrote, “It’s time to find out what the truth really is that’s out there. The American people—and people around the world—want to know, and they can handle the truth.”

Podesta’s interest in extraterrestrial phenomenon is nothing new. In 1998, theWashington Post described his “fanatical devotion to ‘The X-Files’—especially FBI agent Fox Mulder, with whom he shares a penchant for obsessiveness and paranoia.” Grant Cameron, a Canadian UFO researcher, unsuccessfully tried to get the Clinton Library to release records detailing Podesta’s X-Files-themed 50th birthday party, which was apparently thrown by the first couple—who may have dressed up as the show’s main characters.

In February, as he prepared to step down as a senior adviser to President Obama, Podesta tweeted about the UFO issue:

While the tweet may have been tongue in cheek, UFO activists went nuts over it. “It was a big frickin’ deal,” says Bassett. “Someone who has been an adviser to the president of the United States, and is leaving his job, and it’s already been announced publicly that he is going to be a key adviser to the heir apparent to the White House, the de facto candidate, does not, on the day he leaves the White House, put out a tweet about UFOs. He’s inviting hundreds of articles to be written about this tweet.” Podesta did not respond to a request for comment.

The other reason that UFO enthusiasts are excited about a potential Clinton victory goes back to the X-Files era. In early 1993, Laurance S. Rockefeller began to lobby the Clinton administration to release any government information related to UFOs and extraterrestrials, including the 1947 Roswell incident. The fourth child of John D. Rockefeller Jr., Rockefeller was a successful venture capitalist, philanthropist, and conservationist. One of his lesser-known interests was UFOs. (He died in 2004.)

Over the next three years, Rockefeller and his associates corresponded and met with officials in the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, according to documents released as part of a records request filed by Cameron. The effort, known as the Rockefeller Initiative, helped push the Air Force to produce what it characterized as the definitive report on Roswell. (UFO activists were not satisfied, to say the least.) The initiative also may have helped spur a 1995 executive order that declassified millions of records, of which the vast majority were not UFO-related.

In August 1995, Rockefeller met with Hillary Clinton, and perhaps Bill, at his Wyoming ranch. In a memo, the then-director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Jack Gibbons, warned the Clintons about Rockefeller’s agenda before the visit. “[Rockefeller] will want to talk with you about his interest in extrasensory perception, paranormal phenomena, and UFO’s,” he wrote. Gibbons said he’d tried to persuade Rockefeller “not to bother you with this issue” and to focus instead on the administration’s science and technology policies. Rockefeller, he continued, “knows that we are trying to be helpful in responding to his concerns about UFO’s [sic] and human potential—and that we’re keeping an open mind about such matters—but I’ve made no secret about my conviction that we must not be too diverted from more earthly imperatives.” Gibbons could not be reached for comment.

Documents from the Rockefeller Initiative posted on Bassett’s website suggest that the first lady was kept in the loop. A November 1995 letter to Gibbons from one of Rockefeller’s lawyers included a draft letter to President Clinton “which Laurance has been discussing with Mrs. Clinton and her staff.” Three months later, Rockefeller wrote Gibbons about the letter, which the White House was apparently in no hurry to receive: “It well may be that it will be timely to put this before the President late this year in order that it might receive attention in a second term. You indicated that you will keep the First Lady’s Office informed, and we shall as well.”

Bassett says the Rockefeller Initiative proves that the Clintons were interested in pursuing meaningful UFO and extraterrestrial disclosure. “You don’t go through all of this, and have this much work, just to amuse a billionaire,” he says. “If you did, you’d have to answer to that.” Bassett has been lobbying for congressional hearings on the question of UFO contact with the US government. He says that forcing the Clintons to discuss the Rockefeller Initiative is key to his strategy. “I call it the exopolitical blue dress,” he says, referring to Monica Lewinsky’s infamous blue dress and “exopolitics,” a term for the intersection of terrestrial politics and extraterrestrial beings.

Salla, who has claimed that humans are currently in touch with 17 extraterrestrial civilizations, says that Hillary Clinton’s return is another indicator that the truth is coming. He cites Jimmy Kimmel’s recent interview with President Obama, in which the president quipped that he hasn’t delved into the government’s UFO files because “the aliens won’t let it happen. You’d reveal all their secrets. They exercise strict control over us.”

Where most people heard a punch line, Salla discerned a direct link to Podesta and perhaps something deeper. “The fact that he said aliens exert strict control over us—no president has ever said that before, even as a joke,” Salla says. “Obama said things that shouldn’t just be assumed to be throwaway lines. A senior adviser a month before said he was frustrated by a lack of progress and now you have Obama on Jimmy Kimmel saying that. I think it’s worth raising the question.”

Asked for clarification of Hillary Clinton’s stance on UFO disclosure, a spokesman from her office responded via email. “Our non-campaign has a strict policy of not commenting on extraterrestrial activity,” Nick Merrill wrote. “BUT, the Truth Is Out There.”

Alioshenka. A monument for The Small Alien of Urals

RUSSIA. CHELYABINSK Oblast. KISHTYM City. Sientists from Kosmopoisk (translated Russian Organization of Research Public), also known as Spacesearch, a group with interests in ufology, cryptozoology, and other mystery investigations - they are reopened the investigation about the materials rescued two decades ago during the episode of a UFO that crashed in the woods near Kyshtym. The episode occurred in 1996.

Expedition members have hope to find traces of the spaceship, in which a little humanoid was wounded. The creature stood known worldwide under the name Alyoshenka.

This is the tenth time that "Kosmopoisk" visits Kishtym. The searchings are focused on the banks of Lake Anbash. The place was chosen because, according to eyewitnesses, was there that 19 years ago, an unidentified flying object landed or fell.

The head of Kosmopoisk organization, Vadim Chernobrov explains that - The researchers are interested in several unusual events, including the fall of the a meteorite in the same region, the same year, 1996.

Chernobrov tells: We received a message from the Academy of Sciences, which was written by a resident of Kishtym. The letter describe the meteorite like a silvery object that had the shape of an elongated cigar.

THE HISTORY

There 19 years ago, in a small town of South Ural, weird events occurred and became known to the whole world under the name "Kyshtym phenomenon.

In the apartment of an elderly resident of the village - Tamara Prosvirina Kaolin, it was discovered the mummified body of an alien being.

The woman tried hide him and feed him and gave a name to the being, Alexis. This would be the begining of the history of the extraterrestrial that the world knows like Aliyoshenka.

The daughter in law of Mrs. Tamara, saw the creature many times. A pensioner that used to visit the family, told to newspapers and authorities that also saw the creature alive.

When police arrived to the local, Aloyoshenka already was dead and Tamara Prosvirina, was desolated.

The police officer Vladimir Bendlina leaded the investigation of the case. In this context, some ufologists from Kamensk-Ural, that claimed the the guard of the corpse, were persuaded to give the specimen to the police guard. After this, the body of the small alien vanished without a trace.

This history of the little Alioshenka is a mystery, matter of controversy among researchers. Despite the vanishing of the proves, the corpse, before this, The Discovery channel got produce a documentary about the occurrence. The documentary has precious images of Alioshenka.

MONUMENT

This summer (July, 2015), members the organization "Kosmopoisk" camped on the banks of Lake Anbash - where, according to eyewitnesses, in 1996 - unidentified flying object landed there.

In memory of this event, the activists of the organization erected a monument in Kyshtym, on the shores of the lake. Immediately the site became an atraction that has attracted the attention of tourists.

Beyond Roswell: UFO Crashes You May Never Have Heard Of

When we think of UFO crashes, there’s really only one case that comes to mind. Yup… that one. What many are not aware of, however, is that there are literally thousands of other cases involving crashed saucers, fireballs hurdling towards earth, and everything in between. With many of these crashes, bodies were found. And even more interesting were the lengths in which military bodies went to clean everything up before news got out. Below are a few examples of UFO crashes you may never have heard of… for a reason.

Aurora, Texas – 1897

Perhaps one of the first recorded cases involving a crashed UFO occurred over a century ago in the town of Aurora, Texas.

On April 19th of 1897, a story appeared in the local newspaper about a strange airship that had been sighted over the town. The story went on to claim that this ship had crashed into a windmill tower, sending it to the ground in a blazing explosion. Apparently, some of the material recovered had strange hieroglyphic symbols on it. Also amongst the wreckage was that of an ‘alien’ life form which the townsfolk buried in the local cemetery.

Although most researchers regard this as a hoax, there are still some who pursue the case, going so far as to try to exhume the grave where the alien body was supposedly buried. Their requests were denied by the city officials, and the case remains unsolved until today.

Tunguska, Siberia – 1908

It was on June 30th of 1908, near the lower Tunguska River of Siberia, when a large explosion occurred. The explosion was so large, that it could be felt from almost 400 miles away. For several nights all over northern Europe, the sky glowed enough to light the street of London. At first it was assumed that a massive meteorite had collided with the earth. Given the remoteness of the area, it was not until 1927 that an expedition was mounted to investigate the crash area. The expedition turned up absolutely nothing, which seemed close to impossible, considering the size of the explosion which rivaled that of the Atomic Bomb aftermath.

Scientists speculated many theories for this crash and its source, everything ranging from black holes, to anti-matter experiments, up to even saying it could have been a nuclear device from an alien race.

No matter the case, many of the witnesses to the original crash claimed to have seen an oval-shaped mass moving across the sky, as well as seeing the object change course, and having a very low speed.

Most people today believe that what hit Tunguska was simply a meteorite. But many still believe this could have possibly been the crash of an alien mothership. Either theory is equally as terrifying, considering the devastating impact it had on the surrounding area.

Las Vegas – 1962

While thought to be nothing by rumor amongst many UFO researchers, witness reports began to surface about a crash that supposedly took place on April 18th of 1962 on the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

The object was first spotted over Oneida, NY (Miles from my hometown of Syracuse!) and was heading in a westerly direction. Other reports of a similar object were also reported in Kansas, Colorado, and Utah. Tracked on several radar systems, the object disappeared when it hit the Nellis base.

Thousands of witnesses reported the object, assuming it was a meteorite. But the Air Force wasn’t happy with this assumption. So much so that the Air Defense Command scrambled several fighter jets to investigate.

Claims out of Eureka were that the object came down in the town, at the same time, the town experienced several blackouts. It was then reported that the object took off again, and the power in the town immediately sprung back to life. Reports also trickled in from commercial pilots in the area, claiming it was below their own altitudes, thus negating speculation that this was a meteorite of some kind. Though the Air Force remained steadfast in explaining it away as such, even though this “crashed meteorite” seemed to land and then take off again.

Varginha, Brazil – 1996

It was in the first weeks of 1996 when news quickly spread across various news outlets in Brazil that the military had captured a downed alien craft and an extraterrestrial being in the town of Varginha. The news spread so far as The Wall Street Journal.

According to media reports, the being was first sighted by a group of young women on January 20th. The women described seeing a creature of five or so feet tall, a large head and skinny body. It had brown skin and large red eyes. It was wobbling back and forth, clearly unsteady. The women assumed it was sick or injured. The women raced home to tell their mother of what they’d seen. She returned to the area to smell a strong odor of ammonia. The creature was nowhere to be found however. Rumors began to spread throughout the town that an alien had been sighted and that UFOs were invading the area. Apparently, the military was brought in to investigate.

The Brazilian government has officially denied any claims of being involved in the incident, but many claim that this is nothing but a cover-up. With very little credible testimony, and no irrefutable evidence, the Varginha case remains a complete mystery in the annals of UFO crashes.

With UFOs crashing all over the world, one has to wonder just exactly how intelligent these so-called intelligent aliens truly are. Are these merely misidentified meteorites, weather balloons, or online hoaxes? Or are we dealing with the fact that extraterrestrials may be here on earth? That mystery lay deep in the ground of many UFO researchers work, including the minds of the public as a whole.

One thing, however, is certain: if these aliens are supposedly traveling across vast star systems and blinking in and out of wormholes, you’d think they’d take every precaution once they entered our atmosphere and started poking around our skies.

Just be careful, dear reader, next time you have a UFO sighting… you never know when it’s going to hurdle towards your head in a fiery blaze.

Wetenschap Twee zoenende sterren, het klinkt ontzettend romantisch. Maar het lot van de dubbelster VFTS 352 - "de heetste en grootste die ooit gespot werd" volgens wetenschappers van het European Southern Observatory - is alles behalve romantisch.

Nooit slaagden wetenschappers erin twee sterren te spotten die zich in zulke hete en innige omhelzing bevinden. Astronomen hopen dat de ontdekking meer antwoorden zal bieden in het grote vraagstuk over hoe ons melkwegstelsel is ontstaan.

De 'contactdubbelster', VFTS 352 gedoopt, is volgens de wetenschappers heter dan je zou verwachten. De dubbelster is zestig keer zo groot als onze zon en heeft een oppervlaktetemperatuur die bijna tien keer warmer is.

"Fascinerende ontdekking"

VFTS 352 is geen 'vampierster', zoals vaker voorkomt. Dan zuigt de ene ster de andere op. De twee sterren van VFTS 352 zijn ongeveer even groot en bevinden zich zo dicht bij elkaar dat 30 procent van hun materiaal gemeenschappelijk is. Ee kernen van de sterren zijn ongeveer 12 miljoen kilometer van elkaar verwijderd, en daarom spreken de wetenschappers van 'kussende sterren'.

Twee zoenende sterren zijn nog maar zelden vastgelegd, zo melden de wetenschappers, omdat het proces maar van korte duur is. "De VFTS 352 is het beste voorbeeld dat tot nu toe werd gevonden van een grote dubbelster die een interne vermenging vertoont", legt Leonardo A. Almeida, hoofdauteur van de studie, uit. "Dit is een fascinerende en belangrijke ontdekking."

Geen 'happy end'

Dat klinkt echter romantischer dan het eigenlijk is: het lot van de dubbelster ziet er een pak minder rooskleurig uit. De wetenschappers spreken over twee mogelijke scenario's. Ofwel versmelten ze over zo'n 100.000 jaar volledig met elkaar tot een gigantische ster die uiteindelijk zal ontploffen. Ofwel zullen ze traag maar zeker inkrimpen en niet volledig versmelten. Dan ondergaan ze een supernova-explosie en worden ze twee zwarte gaten, die steeds dichter om elkaar zullen heen draaien tot ze alsnog met elkaar samensmelten, opnieuw met een grote explosie. Wat er uiteindelijk ook gebeurt, er komt geen 'happy end'.

De dubbelster, die in de Tarantula-nevel ligt, is 160.000 lichtjaren verwijderd van ons, dus eigenlijk gebeurde wat we hier nu zien al die lichtjaren geleden. Om te weten wat er vervolgens gebeurt, zullen we dus even moeten blijven kijken.

Slaapverlamming: de angstaanjagende aandoening die nachtmerries tot leven wekt - HLN.be

Stel je voor: je ligt in bed, wakker, maar verlamd. Je bent je bewust van alles wat zich in de kamer afspeelt, maar je zit gevangen in je eigen lichaam. En alsof dat nog niet erg genoeg is, begin je te hallucineren. Griezelige figuren sluipen je kamer binnen en je kan er niets aan doen. Wie aan slaapverlamming lijdt, moet deze horror doorstaan. De documentaire 'The Nightmare' brengt de aandoening op griezelige wijze in beeld.

De 24-jarige Helena Adelina lijdt aan slaapverlamming, waarbij haar nachtmerries plots heel dichtbij komen. Elke nacht wordt Helena wakker in haar bed, ze kan niet bewegen, maar ze is ervan overtuigd dat er iets in de kamer aanwezig is. De kwade entiteit grijpt haar vast en fluistert in haar oor. Soms ziet ze de donkere figuur naar haar toe sluipen, andere keren hoort ze hem alleen dichterbij komen.

"Het is een mager, lang silhouet", zegt Helena. "Soms fluistert hij dingen in mijn oor over oorlog en de dood. Soms grijpt hij me bij mijn enkels en trekt hij mij onder de lakens. Dan moet ik vechten en kan ik bijna niet ademen." Elke keer voelt Helena zich volledig bewust en klaarwakker, maar ze kan niet bewegen en ze wordt verstikt door angst.

Helena's slaapverlamming is niet zo zeldzaam. Honderdduizenden mensen lijden eraan. Een nieuwe documentaire 'The Nightmare', laat patiënten aan het woord over hun ervaringen. Meestal komt een man of heks in de schaduw naar de patiënt toe geslopen of voelen patiënten een boosaardige geest in de kamer. Omdat de nachtmerries zo realistisch zijn, voelen patiënten de dromen niet aan als dromen. Alles voelt heel echt en dat kan heel traumatiserend zijn. Pas na een tijdje verdwijnt de verlamming.

Gelukkig lijdt niet iedereen aan een zware vorm van slaapverlamming, zoals Helena, die er alles aan deed om maar niet in slaap te vallen. "Mijn mentale gezondheid ging erop achteruit en ik vertelde niemand over mijn aandoening", zegt ze.

Oorzaak

De oorzaak van slaapverlamming is een raadsel voor wetenschappers. Professor Chris French, psycholoog aan de University of London, vergelijkt het met slaapwandelen. "In de remslaap beleef je de meest realistische dromen. Het is normaal dat je spieren dan verlammen om te vermijden dat je je dromen ook uitvoert", zegt French. "Voor we wakker worden, krijgen we weer controle over onze spieren, maar bij mensen met slaapverlamming loopt er iets fout in deze fase." Op die manier wordt de grens tussen droom en werkelijkheid overschreden.

Remedie

Wie aan slaapverlamming lijdt, kan dat verhelpen door goede slaappatronen. Vermijd alcohol en cafeïne en eet niet te veel voor je gaat slapen. Probeer ook niet op je rug te slapen, want die positie kan leiden tot een gebrekkige slaap. Als je samen met een partner slaapt, kan je hem of haar vragen je wakker te maken van zodra je vreemde gedragingen vertoont.

"En zelfs gewoon weten dat er zoiets als slaapverlamming bestaat, kan al helpen", zegt professor French. "Het helpt je te beseffen dat je niet gek bent en dat het niet echt geesten en demonen zijn."

NASA legt 'glimp van ons onafwendbare einde' vast - HLN.be

Wetenschap De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA heeft voor het eerst een glimp opgevangen van hoe het einde van ons zonnestelsel eruit zou kunnen zien.

Het einde van de aarde is nog niet voor meteen, maar beelden van de dood van een afgelegen zonnestelsel geven een idee van hoe die apocalyps eruit zou zien. De ruimtemissie Kepler 2 heeft voor het eerst de vernietiging van een zonnestelsel vastgelegd. Op de beelden zijn de restanten van een uiteengerukte planeet te zien die rond een zogenoemde dode ster of witte dwerg cirkelt in het sterrenbeeld Virgo (Maagd), zo'n 570 lichtjaren verwijderd van de Aarde.

Wetenschappers merkten stukken van een uiteengescheurde planeet op die elke 4,5 tot 5 uur rond de witte dwerg cirkelden. De vernietigde planeet bevindt zich in een baan van 836.858 kilometer rond de dode ster, ongeveer het dubbele van de afstand tussen de Aarde en de maan.

"Dit is iets wat geen mens ooit heeft gezien", zegt Andrew Vanderburg van het Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. "We zien hoe een zonnestelsel vernietigd wordt."

Zonachtige sterren bestaan uit een reeks nucleaire reacties die waterstof omzetten in helium. Maar wanneer de waterstof opgebruikt is, worden zwaardere elementen als helium, koolstof en zuurstof opgebrand en zet de ster dramatisch uit. Uiteindelijk branden de buitenste lagen volledig op, waarna er een aardachtige kern overblijft, bekend als een witte dwerg.

Onafwendbaar einde

            Wanneer de zon over vijf miljard jaar begint te sterven, zal ze uitzetten en de nabijgelegen planeten opslokken. Eerst zijn Mercurius en Venus aan de beurt, maar uiteindelijk ook de Aarde

Het team van Vanderburg merkte het dode zonnestelsel op toen het de witte dwerg WD1145+017 bestudeerden en zagen hoe de ster 40 procent minder licht voortbracht wanneer er een groot object voorbij trok. Toen ze die brok bestudeerden, ontdekten ze verscheidene rotsblokken die rond de dode ster cirkelden.

In het wetenschapstijdschrift Nature beschrijft Vanderburg de resultaten als het eerste bewijs voor rotsachtige, uiteenvallende objecten rond een witte dwerg. Die ontdekking verklaart een van de mysteries in de astronomie, namelijk de zware metaalvervuiling in sommige witte dwergen. "We hebben nu een echte link tussen de vervuiling van witte dwergen en de vernietiging van rotsachtige planeten", aldus Vanderburg.

De astronomen weten nog niet waar de rotsachtige restanten rond de dode ster vandaan komen. Een mogelijke verklaring is dat de dood van de ster de baan van een nabijgelegen planeet destabiliseerde waardoor kleinere planeten naar de ster werden gezogen. Daarbij kwamen ze zo dichtbij de verzengende hitte dat ze opbrandden en uiteengerukt werden door de zwaartekracht.

Volgens de astronomen kan ons zonnestelsel een gelijkaardig lot ondergaan. Wanneer de zon over vijf miljard jaar begint te sterven, zal ze uitzetten en de nabijgelegen planeten opslokken. Eerst zijn Mercurius en Venus aan de beurt, maar uiteindelijk zal ook de Aarde wellicht worden vernietigd.

Volgens Francesca Faedi, een astronoom aan de universiteit van Warwick, kan de dood van de ster die Vanderburg en zijn team bestudeerden er ook toe hebben geleid dat nabijgelegen planeten tegen elkaar zijn gebotst, en zo zijn uiteengevallen in rotsblokken die lijken op asteroïdes. "Het is extreem opwindend dat astronomen de laatste stuiptrekkingen van een planetair systeem hebben vastgelegd", schrijft ze in Nature. "Hoewel de finale dagen van de Aarde nog ver weg zijn, toont dit onderzoek ons een glimp van ons onafwendbare einde."

At first I thought this could be a government project like Aurora or the TR3B, but its shape is not a perfect triangle, however its center orb does light up when powering up for high speed. The UFO does have a white glow at its center and on a wingtip in one photo. These photos are huge, 2.3MB in size and deliver some great detail. This is pure alien tech here.

After locking my telescope observatory I walked down the side of my home to check my plants for watering @ which time I looked skyward to check for rain when I saw an object that resembled a large piece of aluminum fluttering in the distance. I watched this object for 30 to 40 sec before running inside to grab my camera (Canon 400d with 300 mm zoom lens & then running out the back door hoping it would stay on the same heading, it did & I was able to find it pretty quickly again. I watched it move left, right, descend & ascend at will with no turning circle at all, just direct directional changes of up to 180deg at times with no speed loss before slowing at witch time I engaged the image stabilizer on the camera & took 4 shots, all within 10 seconds, after the fourth images it changed direction by 180 deg & ascended into the clouds, I watched that area of sky for the next 1.30 hours with no joy, after witch time I went inside to check the images to find an object unlike anything I've ever seen or researched training to be a pilot in my younger years. I'm an astronomer & have not submitted these images till now, because an astronomer may be seen as someone looking for ALIENS which is not case, I'm an astrophotographer.

The largest astronomy image of all time reveals something amazing

Generated from five years of observations in one of the driest places on Earth, the image is of our home galaxy the Milky Way.

Space just got a little more crowded.

Variable objects get their name from the fact that the light we receive from them varies over time. This can happen when a second object, like a planet or star, passes in front of the variable object and temporarily blocks some of its light.

For this reason, variable objects are a vital tool in many fields of astronomy, including the search for planets around other stars that could harbor extraterrestrial intelligence.

Astronomers at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany spent night after night snapping pictures of the southern sky at their university observatory in the Atacama Desert, in Chile.

Next to the frozen deserts at the North and South Poles, the Atacama Desert is the driest place on Earth. Some parts are so arid that no plants or animals can survive.

These extreme conditions are an observational astronomer's paradise. The dry air means few cloudy nights, clear skies, and most importantly, limited moisture to absorb or deflect precious light from faint cosmic objects, including variable objects.

Under these pristine conditions, the astronomers focused on the iconic bright band across the sky that shines from the densely packed stars near the center of our galaxy.

To spot the variable objects, they take pictures of the same spot in the sky over several days and then compare them.

The team's work spanned such a large region of the sky that they first divided the photos up into 268 sections and then combined them forming what is the largest, single astronomical image to date. It contains 47 billion pixels and took several weeks to process.

By identifying over 50,000 new variable objects, these astronomers have contributed an invaluable data set for future investigations of other solar systems and their planets.

Three scientific mysteries that suggest Earth's Moon was engineered

Wild theory or a possibility? What would you say to a theory that says that Earth’s moon is in fact a giant artificial construction? Is it just a wild conspiracy or is there anything about the moon that seems to be off?

The Age of the moon is waaaaaaay off

Some scientists believe that Earth’s moon is older than our planet. Our moon is unlike any other satellite discovered in the known universe. According to researchers the moon is around 4.6 billion years old which means that Earth’s faithful companion is older than our planet by nearly 800,000 years.

Strange Lunar Rocks with huge traces of Titanium

There are some lunar rocks that have been found to contain ten times more titanium that “titanium rich” rocks on planet Earth. Here on Earth we use Titanium in supersonic jets, deep diving submarines and spacecraft. It’s unexplainable. Dr Harold Urey, Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry said he was “terribly puzzled by the rocks astronauts found on the moon and their Titanium content. The samples were unimaginable and mind-blowing since researchers could not account for the presence of Titanium.

The Moon has elements it should not have

In the 1970’s Mikhail Vasin and Alexander Shcerbakov from the Soviet Academy of science wrote an article called: “Is the Moon the creation of Alien Intelligence?” It was a very interesting article that asked some important questions. How is it possible that the surface of the moon is so hard and why does it contain minerals like Titanium?

Mysteriously, there are some lunar rocks that have been found to contain PROCESSED METALS, such as Brass, Mica and the elements of Uranium 236 and Neptunium 237 that have NEVER been found to occur naturally. Yet there are traces of them on the Moon. Uranium 236 is a radioactive nuclear waste which is found in spent nuclear and reprocessed Uranium. More interestingly, Neptunium 237 is a radioactive metallic element and a by-product of nuclear reactors and the production of Plutonium. You have to ask the question: What is happening on Earth’s Moon? From where are these elements and minerals coming from?

Did The Nazis Build A Secret Antarctic Base?

In the 1930's, Nazis exploring the southern extremities of the globe set up a base (called base-211) in Antarctica. You may have heard of Operation Highjump and how Admiral Byrd had an altercation with entrenched German forces that overpowered them with amazing flying craft. A map from the Third Reich (obtained by Russian forces during WW2) has recently surfaced detailing not only the direct passageway used by German U-boats to access this subterranean domain, but also a complete map of both hemispheres of the inner realm of Agartha!

After the Soviet collapse in 1991, the KGB released previously classified files that cast light on the mysterious US led Naval expedition to Antarctica in 1947.

The intelligence report, gathered from Soviet KGB spies embedded in the US, revealed that the US Navy had sent the military expedition led by Admiral Byrd to find and destroy a hidden Nazi base.

On the way, they encountered and were defeated by a German saucer force that destroyed several ships and planes, forcing the US to retreat and implement a media cover-up lasting up until today.

Officially called “The United States Navy Antarctic Development Program,” the naval component of Operation Highjump was comprised of 4700 military personnel, an aircraft carrier (the USS Philippine Sea among the largest of all carriers of the time), and a number of naval support ships and aircraft.

The Naval expedition was headed by famed polar explore Admiral Richard Byrd, who had been ordered to:

“to consolidate and extend American sovereignty over the largest practical area of the Antarctic continent. To establish Little America”

Byrd’s expedition ended after only 8 weeks with “many fatalities” according to initial news reports based on interviews with crew members who spoke to the press while passing through Chilean ports.

Rather than deny the heavy casualty reports, Admiral Byrd revealed in an interview that they had encountered a new enemy that “could fly from pole to pole at incredible speeds.”

Admiral Byrd’s statements were published in the Chilean Press but never publicly confirmed by US authorities. Indeed Byrd did not speak again to the Press about Operation Highjump, leaving it for researchers to speculate for decades over what really happened, and why Byrd was silenced.

If the fortress was in Antarctica, was it built by the Nazis, or discovered there? After the defeat of Nazi Germany, according various sources, elite Nazi scientists and leaders escaped to this impregnable fortress by Uboats, two of which experienced difficulties and surrendered in Argentina.

Aliens Or Not, There's Still A Lot To Discover In NASA's Kepler Data

This week, the internet worked itself into a frenzy over the possibility that we’ve found an alien megastructure. But whether or not there’s a Dyson sphere buried in the Kepler data, the discovery of a strange, flickering star is very interesting.

Indeed, it points to an entirely new use for the spectral data on 150,000-odd stars that NASA’s Kepler mission spent four years acquiring: Finding and studying really weird astronomical phenomena.

Aliens?!

If you missed the latest alien hysteria, here’s the gist: A thousand light years from Earth in the direction of the Cygnus constellation, a star known as KIC 846285 is behaving in an extraordinary manner. The star flashes and fades, light a lightbulb on a dimmer switch. On several occasions during our four years observing it, its light output dipped by over 20%.

It doesn’t look at all like the planetary transit events Kepler was built to detect — these will cause a star to dim periodically, by about 1% at most. As far as astronomers can tell, there’s nothing else like KIC 846285 in the Kepler database.

In a paper released on arXiv, a research team led by Tabby Boyajian proposes a number of natural explanations for the star’s light signature, including giant sunspots, epic clouds of cosmic dust, and a massive collision between two planet-sized objects. All of these scenarios are problematic for one reason or another. The most likely story is that a “family of exocomet fragments” were swept into orbit around KIC 8462582 when another star zipped close by.

Then there’s the unnatural explanation: Aliens. As astronomer Jason Wright explains in a forthcoming paper, KIC 8462852’s light pattern could be consistent with a “swarm of megastructures” built by an alien civilisation to harness the star’s energy. Wright, Boyajian, and UC Berkeley SETI director Andrew Siemion are now proposing that we point a massive radio dish at the star, to hunt for the technobabble of an advanced society.

“I’m still stumped about what could be going on,” Wright told me in an email. “But something is clearly orbiting the star, and whatever they are, they are very large and have complex shapes.”

A New Use For Kepler?

Whether or not the alien explanation holds water — and we should bear in mind that every time researchers have cried aliens in the past, they have been wrong — the fact that KIC 8462852 has piqued the interest of SETI is, in itself, interesting.

The Kepler mission was designed to stare unblinking at a fixed point in the sky, hunting for the tiny shadows of planets transiting across stars. And it’s done a beautiful job. To date, Kepler has uncovered over 4100 planetary candidates and 1000 confirmed exoplanets. Extrapolating from its small cosmic census, astronomers have reached an astounding conclusion.

“We have learned most stars have planets, that Earth sized planets are common, and a good fraction are in the habitable zone of their star,” lead Kepler investigator Bill Borucki said at an exoplanet conference I attended this past May. “And when you put the numbers together: 100 billion stars, 10 per cent with Earth-sized planets, 10 per cent stars like the sun, that’s a billion Earth-sized planets in the habitable zone of stars like the sun.”

The Kepler mission has literally revolutionised our view of the cosmos. Thirty years ago, we weren’t sure there were any Earth-like planets beyond our solar system, now, there could be a billion. The possibility of finding life beyond Earth is no longer a pipe dream.

But as recent the Dyson sphere hubbub shows, there’s more to Kepler’s wealth of data than planetary bean counting.

To wit, by deliberately seeking out weird spectral patterns within Kepler’s dataset, we might discover all sorts of interesting and bizarre astronomical phenomena. Wright imagines quite a few possibilities in a forthcoming paper, including gravitational interactions between planets, massive exomoons, asymmetrical stars, and yes, alien infrastructure. That last one is all that the popular press picked up on, but any of these discoveries would be fascinating.

KIC 8462852 also shows us how to go about finding the cosmically weird and unexpected: Human eyeballs. Our putative Dyson sphere was first noticed by Planet Hunters, a fleet of volunteer citizen scientists who have been trained to trawl through spectral data and pick out stars that look interesting. Because KIC 8462852’s flickering pattern is so irregular, it would have been tough for a computer algorithm to spot. But ordinary men and women on their lunch break could tell that this star was special, and now, SETI astronomers want to point radio telescopes at it.

Kepler’s planet-hunting glory days may be waning — but we’ve just scratched the surface of what this little telescope has to teach us.

Study Explains Our Failure To Find Intelligent Alien Life: Most Habitable Planets Are Not Yet Born

Most habitable planets in the Milky Way galaxy are not yet born, a new study suggests. Scientists believe that this is connected as to why humans have not found intelligent alien life forms yet.

Despite the progress in the development of more advanced technologies, humanity's search for intelligent alien life has yet to be successful. A recent theoretical study suggests that because the Earth was born early into the evolving universe, most habitable planets may not have been born yet.

Planetary scientists collected and analyzed data from NASA's Kepler space observatory and Hubble space telescope. They concluded that when the Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago, only eight percent of livable planets had also most likely formed in the universe. Because of this, 92 percent of planets fit for habitation are most likely still just gas and dust.

Researchers explained that even after our sun burns out in 6 billion years, more planets will still be forming. All these findings are published [pdf] in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

The study said that the birth of stars 10 billion years ago had occurred at a fast rate. Back then, the universe's levels of helium and hydrogen were very low. Now, the formation of stars has been slowed down, but there are enough leftover helium and hydrogen for the universe to cook up more planets and stars.

"There is enough remaining material [after the "big bang"] to produce even more planets in the future, in the Milky Way and beyond," said Molly Peeples of Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), co-author of the study.

About 1 billion rocky Earth-sized worlds exist in the Milky Way galaxy, the scientists said. Taking into account the vastness of the observable universe, the number will increase to 100 billion Earth-sized planets.

Meanwhile, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute conducts research and projects that focus on finding intelligent alien life. The institute said that they aim to find answers to the questions that the previous generation has only dared to ask.

Currently, SETI has begun tracking down signs of alien life near the star KIC 8462852 through the Allen Telescope Array (ATA). The ATA is just one of their many technologies.

To fully understand the possibility of searching for signals given off by extraterrestrials, scientists use the famous Drake Equation devised by astronomer Frank Drake. It measures several factors based on the possible number of civilizations in our galaxy alone. However, scientists say that the equation is mostly speculative.

SETI also said that even though some Earth-sized planets have been discovered, probes cannot be sent because of the magnificent distance in light years between our planet and those other planets.

But in reality they're actually just clouds.

To be more specific, these incredible pictures show lenticular clouds over Kamchatka's iconic volcanoes in eastern Russia.

The stunning images, formed to align with the wind direction, were taken by 35-year-old photographer from Klin Vladimir Voychuk.

He said: "It's not the first time I've seen clouds like this but it's the first time I've been able to catch it on film.

"My personal favourite is the shot of the two grey clouds forming around the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano - taking that picture took my breath away."

"It's a pretty rare thing to capture on film because the cloud was formed not only by vapour but also the smoke coming out of the active volcano," he continued.

Despite having to travel thousands of miles to get there, Vladimir thinks Kamchata is one of the most spectacular places in the world to photograph.

He said: "It's probably one of my favourite places to take pictures.

"It takes me a long time to get there but it's always worth it. I don't think there's anywhere in the world that's better."

What will the aliens say to us?

Kicking around near the top of my very long and weird list titled "Things I'm Definitely Gonna Write Someday, I Swear" is a science fiction short story.

Picture this: We have encountered our first alien life form and it's clearly intelligent. We set about feeding each others' languages into computers and finally, come up with a translator program. And once everything is set up, the first thing the aliens say to us is, "Have you heard the good news about Jesus Christ?"

I always imagine the lead scientist as someone who both the plot and appearance make clear is not Christian, like Jeff Goldblum, typing back, "I did hear about that . . . but I wish I'd paid more attention to it."

I can think of an almost infinite number of first statements from aliens that would blow our minds, and the best book on the subject would be one in which every chapter were a different story, with a different first statement. But in real life, to find the alien wisdom, we've first got to find the aliens.

The story idea popped back into my brain last week with the announcement that scientists have discovered a very strange star, with some seemingly unnatural attributes that could suggest a highly intelligent civilization has been hanging out there and building stuff. It's official designation is KIC 8462852 but it's much cuddlier nickname is "Tabby's Star," after Tabetha S. Boyajian, a Yale University postdoctoral student whose team observed it and published a paper about it.

What's special about Tabby's Star is that its pattern of light emission doesn't make sense in any normal way for a star its age and size. It's one of a group of about 150,000 stars that the Kepler Space Telescope stared at for four years. When the Kepler team members realized they couldn't interpret all the data, they created Planet Hunters, a group of humans who look at the sky through telescopes, which Boyajian oversees. It is, to me, amazing and charming that in many ways, humans are still better at looking for certain things in stars and space patterns than any computer program.

What's weird about Tabby's Star, and several Planet Hunters noticed this trait independently of each other, is that the light pattern it emits was interrupted at regular intervals by something that seemed to be orbiting it. And for a variety of reasons that are well-explained in Boyajian's 15-page, deeply brainy paper (age of the star, how gravity fields work, etc.), the light pattern suggests an orbiting clump of matter circling the star that doesn't quite match up with natural phenomena. It looks like it was made, scientists say, on purpose.

And that's one of the things the folks at the Center for SETI Research at the University of California have always thought we should be looking for in the big sky.

So Monday, SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) announced it had begun pointing its dish at Tabby's Star to see whether it emits radio waves, which would suggest intelligence-created communication. If SETI finds those, it'll bring more technology to bear. And this could happen very fast. We could know a lot more in a year about what's happening around Tabby's Star.

Or rather, what was happening on Tabby's Star. You see, it's about 1,500 light-years away, which means we're looking at light emitted right after the Roman Empire wound down.

Which leads us to another idea for a science-fiction story, a sad one I find all too easy to believe: If there were a technologically advanced civilization around Tammy's Star 1,500 years ago, and it was anything at all like us, I find it very hard to believe it's still around.
