UFO’s Invade Washington In 1952 Images Captured (Video)
UFO’s Invade Washington In 1952 Images Captured (Video)
Here’s an update video about the invasion of flying saucers that took place in the nation’s capital in 1952. Photographs and film show the UFO’s as they fly by the capital building itself. If they aren’t UFO’s then what explanation could there possibly be? How would someone hoax this in 1952? Ah ha! What if it wasn’t a hoax at all? The truth is out there. Or just below in the following Parabreakdown video.
I was out walking my dog just before midnight. The sky was clear and the stars were unusually bright. As I was looking up at the sky, I noticed and extremely bright star. It first appeared to be round with beams of light emitted from it in bright white (as one would envision the Christmas star). It was the only star that bright, all the others were “normal”.
After almost half a minute of keeping an eye on just that “star”, I noticed that the rays it produced were only forming on the top half of the orb. Looking closer, I noticed that it was not just white with a hint of blue. Two different shades of blue were present with flashes of red and green. When a flash ended, the space it had been in was more amber than yellow or white.
I thought, even at this point, my eyes were playing tricks on me. So, I waited and thought I saw it move up then down. The dog started pulling on his leash, so I went inside.
About 10 minuets later, I decided that I wanted to take another look and headed back outside. It was sill there, and the color activity was more intense. The shape was more disc like, but I could not see the actual bottom. It looked like the light illuminated the outline of the top of the disc, with the light being emitted from the top. Now when the colors appeared, they ran from left to right along the rim of the disc, and came one after the other. One color would get just past the middle of the object and another would begin it’s trip around.
Again, I thought I noticed movement, so I purposely stepped into an area where there were low tree branches. Since there was no wind, I could use this vantage point as a marker to see if there really was movement.
The object swayed left to right, like it was in a hammock. Then it traveled up from below a branch to well above it, then back down, not going fast and never going back to the exact same space. I knew this was not me moving as I had sat down in a chair to be sure to be steady and not rock or sway as I stood looking up.
I stood watching it become more mobile for 5 minuets more then headed inside for 5 minuets. When I went back outside to check on it again, it was further south than it had been. Very little light activity was happening at this point, and the swaying had stopped. I immediately came in to report this.
NOTE: The above image is a rendering.
This case is under investigation by MUFON State Director Ken Pfeifer
While driving on 95S, i saw a triangle with an inverted bottom, outlined in chasing white lights hovering/bobbing above Santa Fe casino. I live in the Centennial Hills area of Las Vegas, NV. This is the northwest. I was traveling to work southbound on the 95 freeway. I was late for work. I always watch the skies. I don’t know why, it’s not like I ever see anything. On 1/5/2016 between the hours of 9:25pm and 9:45pm, I actually did. As I passed the Santa Fe Casino, on my left, right above the casino I witnessed a triangular V-shaped object over the casino. I cannot remember if it was over the parking garage area or closer to the casino part. I am not sure. What I am sure of, however, is that I was seeing a V-shaped aerial object. The object that I saw was “hovering” in the air, as low as a helicopter could fly. (I have had airplanes fly by or helicopters sit idle near me and I hear a sound) This object was emitting absolutely NO sound. It was close enough for me to hear a sound. I would have heard a sound. Were this a helicopter or an airplane, I’m sure I would have heard sound. I thought maybe it was some type of military stealth flying object. But why would it be just hovering Non-stealthily over the nasty old Santa Fe Casino? Also I saw lights. I cannot say for sure what other colors I saw besides white. White was the dominant color, I do know that for sure. There could have been other colors as well. What I can say for absolute assurity is that the lights were chasing. Chasing like those Christmas lights that people have.
.
The lights were chasing in the shape of the object that I was seeing, which was a V shape (acute triangle) two long sides with a shorter bottom. The bottom was invert! ed to another v. As I was seeing this, my psyche attempted to explain away my optical. The reason I was unsuccessful at explaining this away, was because of the motion of the object. As it hovered in that spot, it rotated at a half circle as it bobbed up and down slightly, while slightly tilted to the right. The movement of the craft, the location of the craft and the fact that I could hear no sound from a craft that was in such close proximity to my vehicle are the reasons why I am writing this report. The behavior of the craft frightened me more than the sight of it. I felt an immediate fear mixed with excitement mixed with dread mixed with sadness. A combination of feelings that I have never felt. Please be advised that I was driving when I witnessed this. I pulled to the carpool lane and started to drive very slowly to ensure that I was seeing what I was seeing. I started to swerve cause I was looking at the object instead of looking at the road. I turned away to keep from getting pulled over for a traffic violation. I was afraid to stop and pull over. This happened to me. I do not have any history of mental illness. I have never made a report of something like this before. I believe in the existence of something other than human beings for several reasons that I will not go into, because that is not what this report is for. I just want whoever this gets to, to take my accounts seriously. I am a previous member of law enforcement. I have had to listen to reports like this frequently from crazy people. I know the difference. I hope you do too. I know what I saw. I just would like someone to tell me why I saw it.

Comets May Not Explain 'Alien Megastructure' Star's Strange Flickering After All
Comets May Not Explain 'Alien Megastructure' Star's Strange Flickering After All
By Shannon Hall, Space.com Contributor

It's looking less likely that a swarm of comets or an "alien megastructure" can explain a faraway star's strange dimming.
The star (nicknamed "Tabby's Star," after its discoverer, Tabetha Boyajian) made major headlines last October when Jason Wright, an astronomer at Pennsylvania State University, suggested that it could be surrounded by some type of alien megastructure. A more likely idea — one that's far less exciting — is that the star is orbited by a swarm of comets. But scientists can't be sure either way.
Now, Bradley Schaefer, an astronomer at Louisiana State University, has probed the star's behavior over the past century by looking at old photographic plates. Not only does the star's random dipping date back more than a century, but it also has been gradually dimming over that period — a second constraint that makes it even harder to explain. [13 Ways to Hunt Intelligent Alien Life]
The first signs of the star's oddity came from NASA's planet-hunting Kepler space telescope, which continually monitored the star (as well as 100,000 others) between 2009 and 2013. Astronomers, citizen scientists and computers could then search for regular dips in a star's light — a sign that an exoplanet has passed in front of that star. The largest planets might block 1 percent of a star's light, but Tabby's star dropped by as much as 20 percent in brightness. That, in and of itself, would be weird. But the periodic dimmings didn't occur at regular time intervals, either — they were sporadic. The signature couldn't be caused by a planet, scientists said.
In September, a team led by Boyajian, a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University, tried to make sense of the unusual signal. First, the researchers looked into any angles that might mean there was something wrong with the data itself. They even checked in with Kepler mission scientists. But everything came out clean. "The data that we were observing with Kepler is, in fact, astrophysical," Boyajian told Space.com.
Still, nothing about the observations indicated what might be causing the extreme interference. After considering many possible scenarios, Boyajian determined that dust from a large cloud of comets was the best explanation. But she admits that "it's a bit of a stretch to have comets that are large enough to block that much of the light from the star." With her paper published, she hoped that other astronomers would jump in with alternative solutions.
And they did. A month later, the star exploded into the public's eye when Wright announced that an advanced extraterrestrial civilization could be responsible for the signal, assuming this civilization built a megastructure, like solar panels, around the star. And Boyajian thinks the theory is definitely worth a follow-up.
"We have to look at every angle that we can — and that's one angle, as wild and crazy as it seems," she said. Slate blogger and astronomer Phil Plait, too, admitsthat "while it's incredibly unlikely, it does kinda fit what we're seeing."
So Schaefer turned to old photographic plates from the Harvard College Observatory. Lucky for him, the star has been photographed more than 1,200 times as part of a repeated all-sky survey between the years 1890 and 1989. That many data points revealed that Tabby's star is acting strangely in more than one way: It's flickering on short timescales, as the Kepler and Harvard data show, and it's dimming over the course of a century, as the Harvard data show.
"Occam's razor [the simplest explanation is likely the best one] needs to be considered in a scenario like this," Boyajian said. A single phenomenon must be causing both behaviors, she added. But what is it?
Well, the results don't look good for a family of comets. It would take a vast number of comets to pass in front of the star for a century, astronomers say.
"It would be more mass than what we have in the whole Kuiper Belt" [the band of icy bodies in the vast region beyond Neptune], said Massimo Marengo, an associate professor of astronomy at Iowa State University who co-authored a paper supporting the comets theory in December.
"You can get out of that if you assume it's the same family of comets passing in front of the star over and over," Marengo told Space.com. But with the century-long dimming trend, too, that family of comets has to get bigger every time it passes the star. "It's a difficult thing to do," he said.
The results also change the requirements for the alien megastructure hypothesis. Plait pointed out that the general fading is actually what you'd expect to see if aliens were building a massive sphere around their star. But before you get your hopes up, consider this: Plait calculated that aliens would need to build a minimum of 750 billion square kilometers (290 billion square miles) of solar panels to account for the 20 percent drop in their star's brightness. "That's 1,500 times the area of the entire Earth," Plait wrote. "Yikes."
So astronomers now have to hope that future observations might shed light on this stellar oddity. "Nature can help us by creating another one of these events," Marengo said. "But sometimes, we don't get lucky."
'Embryo' planet plowed into Earth, creating moon ... and stayed
'Embryo' planet plowed into Earth, creating moon ... and stayed

Scientists already know that roughly 4.5 billion years ago planet Earth wasviolently smacked into by another mass—Theia, a so-called "planetary embryo" that was still forming and may have been just as large as Earth.
But now UCLA researchers report that the collision was not a 45-degree angle "powerful side-swipe" as thought, but rather a "head-on assault" that resulted in the formation of the moon as well as the Earth's mantle.
Their evidence lies in the oxygen isotopes of rocks on both Earth and the moon. Reporting in the journal Science, they reveal that the oxygen isotope ratios, which differ from one planet to the next and thus act as fingerprints, are "indistinguishable" in rocks on the moon and Earth, suggesting a common origin.
"Theia was thoroughly mixed into both the Earth and the moon, and evenly dispersed between them," the lead researcher tells ScienceAlert. "This explains why we don’t see a different signature of Theia in the moon versus the Earth." A violent head-on collision also likely robbed Earth of its water, which was probably added tens of millions of years later when small asteroids collided with the Earth's surface.
"While it's pretty sad to think about our planet wiping out another one in order to get where we are today, it's fascinating to think about all the accidents that had to come together to result in life on Earth," notes Fiona MacDonald at ScienceAlert.
Anonymous Release NASA Documents Proving Something Unbelievable …
Anonymous Release NASA Documents Proving Something Unbelievable …
Anonymous have leaked information that they claim originate from NASA servers, showing evidence of an extensive drone weather modification program that prove that Chemtrails exist.
Anonsec released a paper that contained a detailed account of their hack, as well as analysis of the NASA data they recovered.
The data reveals information about NASA’s connection to weather modification research in a log of a DC-8 jetliner, which was conducting a flight in accordance with their “Alternative-Fuel Effects on Contrails and Cruise EmiSSions” project.
Anonsec Admin Dêfãult Vírüsa leaked the information early last week to Mikael Thalen of I-n-f-o-w-a-r-s, before making a public release Sunday.
Also released Sunday was a 276 Gigabyte (GB) data package of 631 aircraft and radar videos, 2,143 flight logs and the personal data of 2,414 NASA employees.
In Anonsec’s zine, they claim that they were discovered and lost access to the NASA servers after altering the flight path of a $222.7 million US Drone flying across the Pacific. In the hijacking the group planned to crash the GlowbalHawk drone into the ocean.
NASA officials have not yet commented on the information leak, nor confirmed its validity, but the released NASA employee information has been verified as real and a drone flight log has been discovered which coincides with Anonsec’s story.
UPDATE: 1
In an official statement released by headquarters spokesman Allard Beutel, NASA is denying the claims made by the hacking group AnonSec.
“Control of our Global Hawk aircraft was not compromised,” Beutel said, continuing that the space agency “had no evidence to indicate the allegedly hacked data.”
Beutel also inferred that the information leaked was already public by saying, “NASA strives to make our scientific data publicly available, including large data sets, which seems to be how the information in question was retrieved.”
The statement ended with an attempt to calm nerves by reiterating their bottom line that, “NASA takes cybersecurity very seriously and will continue to fully investigate all of these allegations.”

Fast Moving UFO Over Oregon
Fast Moving UFO Over Oregon
A witness in LaGrange, Oregon claimed to have spotted and recorded on video a glowing, disc-shaped UFO. He reported the sighting to Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), and it was filed in Case 53207 of the organization’s witness reporting database.
The reporting witness was with his wife outside on a balcony enjoying a barbecue when the object made an appearance around 10:05 p.m. on August 15, 2013.
The husband knew at that moment that it wasn’t ordinary. He was taking the video when the mysterious object blasted off so fast or disappeared.
MUFON received the report of the sighting on January 3, 2014. Oregon assistant director Keith Rowell investigated the case and closed it as unknown.
Rowell stated in his report that the witness saw the aerial object maneuvered around a bit. It had a reddish/whitish color that flashed randomly and appeared to be glowing. Both witnesses believed it was disk-shaped and had a dome and windows. The video doesn’t show it, but it does reveal an unusual and fast-changing, lighted object.
While investigating the video, Rowell could only think two possible identifications for the UFO, namely, the hobbyist RC aircraft and burning balloon-like object. However, the UFO’s characteristics don’t fit all to both RC object and burning object.
Rowell explains that an RC object doesn’t vary in shape too radically several times and its color does not vary from virtually washed out white to reddish/yellow. He adds that lighted RC’s internal image structure would be more regular, even if it were programmed randomly as light show type of RC craft.
Rowell further explains that a burning object would have been fit the random look of the UFO in the video, but the UFO’s movement doesn’t fit well with characteristics of a drifting, airborne object.
Area 51 might be the most well-known top secret military base in the world. It has appeared in movies, tv, books, and video games. Yet we still don’t know what is going on in there. We take a trip to the middle of nowhere to find out what’s going on with Area 51! What goes on in Area 51? Where is Area 51?
A possible Martian creature has been found on the red planet by the Mars Curiosity Rover.
The bizarre creature which was discovered by ufo researcher Scott Waring was photographed by the rover as it surveyed the martian landscape. This is probably a fossil or the skeletal remains of a Martian critter.
A recently discovered asteroid is scheduled to fly by Earth in March, but NASA can’t quite tell how far away it will be when that happens. One estimate is as close as 11,000 miles, about 95 percent closer than the moon.
The asteroid known as 2013 TX68, was first discovered three years ago, as its name implies, but the NASA-funded Catalina Sky Survey was only able to track its path for three days before it entered daytime skies, where monitoring is not possible. That short amount of time precluded scientists from getting a better understanding of what the asteroid’s orbit around the sun looks like.
NASA to send 13 tiny satellites into deep space in preparation for manned Mars missionhttp://on.rt.com/73h9
What is known is that the asteroid is 100 feet (30 meters) in diameter and will be in Earth’s neighborhood for quite some time, but what is not known is whether that means 11,000 or 9 million miles away from our planet by next month. For comparison, the moon is 238,000 miles away.
"This asteroid's orbit is quite uncertain, and it will be hard to predict where to look for it," Paul Chodas of NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies said in a statement.
"There is a chance that the asteroid will be picked up by our asteroid search telescopes when it safely flies past us next month, providing us with data to more precisely define its orbit around the sun," Chodas added.
The next flyby for 2013 TX68 will be in September of 2017, when it will have a one in 250,000,000 chance of Earthly impact. By comparison, the odds of winning the $1 billion Powerball jackpot last month were one in 292,000,000. NASA predicts the following flybys in 2046 and 2097 will be even less likely to end in collision.
Planetary defense: NASA creates office to oversee asteroid detection http://on.rt.com/71bi
"The possibilities of collision on any of the three future flyby dates are far too small to be of any real concern," Chodas said. "I fully expect any future observations to reduce the probability even more."

The U.S. military's next-generation F-35 fighter jets will make their long-awaited overseas debut this summer at two air shows in the United Kingdom, Air Force officials recently announced.
The 56th Fighter Wing, stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, will showcase F-35A Lightning IIsat the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire and the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire, both in July.
"We're very excited about demonstrating this capability to the world," Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, said in a statement. "The F-35 represents a new way of thinking about data integration, weapons and tactics. We're thrilled to highlight the program and the amazing Airmen who support this cutting-edge fighter."
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is billed as the most advanced warplane of its type yet developed, but the program has been plagued with delays and cost overruns. In July 2014, the U.S. military canceled what would have been the F-35's international air show debut after one of the planes suffered an engine fire. The United States' entire fleet of F-35s was subsequently grounded for two weeks as military leaders and aviation authorities investigated the cause of the fire, which was later determined to be from a damaged turbine blade.
At this summer's British air shows, the U.S. Air Force will also demonstrate World War II-era planes, along with aircraft from the Korean and Vietnam wars, according to military officials.
"Being a part of these heritage flights allows the world to learn more about the F-35 and at the same time see just how far air power has come over the years," Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus, commander of the 56th Fighter Wing, said in a statement. "The F-35 will be the backbone of the Air Force fighter fleet and represent the future for the U.S., our partners and allies. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to see how amazing the F-35 is."

UFOs Fly Side By Side At Space Station During Spacewalk On Live Cam, Feb 3, 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: February 3, 2016
Location of sighting: Earths orbit at ISS
The UFO was caught on live ISS cam when astronauts were performing a spacewalk and doing repairs. It was caught by UFO Lou of Youtube. The UFO UFO flashes as its moves along side the space station in the background. The UFO appears to be a rectangle and is rotating, which causes the flashes of light. UFO Lou actually made two videos of these objects. In the second video he caught not one, but three UFOs watching the astronauts on their spacewalk! These are alien drones that monitor and upload life feeds to aliens throughout our solar system. Think of them as alien paparazzi.

UFO Recorded Over Madison, Wisconsin Heading Into Lake Michigan, Feb 1, 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: February 1, 2016 Location of sighting: University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA This UFO was caught shooting down from our atmosphere and entering Lake Michigan. The Great Lakes is notorious for its UFO sightings, especially night catches. This UFO tries to make itself look like a comet or meteor, but it has no long tail like meteors always do. Also there are no fragmenting parts. This UFO did disappear over Lake Michigan, it is due East of Madison, and this live cam stationed at the university there is pointing East. Hundreds of videos can be found on Youtube with glowing objects in the day and night over Lake Michigan. There is an alien base below the lake, not on its floor, but several km below the floor level. This UFO today, reinforces the evidence of that base existing. Scott C. Waring www.ufosightingsdaily.com
A Motorist Pulls Over To Film A UFO With Dark Grey Trails Above Greater Manchester
A Motorist Pulls Over To Film A UFO With Dark Grey Trails Above Greater Manchester
A mysterious aerial object was spotted in the skies over Greater Manchester. A video shows an apparent black object with dark grey trails behind it over Aston-under-Lyne.
The UFO flies through the air and streams out dark grey trails above Ashton-under-Lyne but does not seem to move in any direction.
One of the witnesses Sophie Birch said that she and her partner saw the object while driving in Ashton-under-Lyne. They pulled over to have a better view of the object. Sophie said that the object just wasn’t moving at all and just hovering in the air.
The couple’s conversation can be heard on the video trying to figure out the bizarre object, but they just could not explain it.
She said that it was so unusual to them and that they kept on watching and observing it for quite a while. But they just can’t find a simple explanation as to what the thing is. Sophie suggested that it could be aliens and her sister thought the same thing.
The video appears to show a black ship with something coming out of the back. Sophie said that they noticed a flock of birds flying at one point and they seemed to fly away because of fear.
What happened? This case was one of the very first UFO sightings reported by commercial pilots. Whilst flying from Houston to Atlanta, pilots Chiles and Whitted encountered a large, cigar-shaped craft flying close to them, barely missing them at times. At one point, the object appeared to stop abruptly before vanishing into thin air. The pilots agreed that it was a long, thin craft, with two rows of windows that emitted a blueish glow. It was moving really fast, leaving a trail of orange/red exhaust in its wake. What makes this sighting more credible is that this sighting wasn’t only reported by Chiles and Whitted. Several witnesses at an airbase in Georgia claim to have seen an identical object half an hour before the pilots’ experience. Government officials were able to rule out the possibility of it being a military or commercial flight as there were no fitting flights scheduled at that time.
How was it explained? After an investigation, government debunkers wrote the sighting off as an illusion caused by temperature inversions, and later changed their minds and claimed it was a meteor. However, as the description of the object does not at all fit that of a meteor, this sighting is still classed as ‘unexplained’.
The Valentich Disappearance
When? 21 October 1978 Where? Bass Strait, Australia
What happened? Frederick Valentich disappeared whilst piloting a light aircraft over Bass Strait. During his routine flight, Valentich reported to Melbourne Air Traffic Control that a ‘strange aircraft’ 1,000m above him was following him. He also complained that his engine was running roughly and his craft began to act in strange ways. The transcript from Valentich’s conversation with Melbourne tells us that the unidentified craft was a long ‘shape’, moving at three times his speed and orbiting him. He also said that its lights were beaming and looked a little like landing lights. Perhaps the most chilling extract from the transcript comes just before Valentich is cut off for good. He says: “It’s hovering – and it’s not an air craft…” Valentich and his aircraft disappeared shortly after this conversation. There was an extensive 7-day search of land and sea and not a single trace of Valentich or his plane was found. The Department of Transport were never able to determine the cause of Valentich’s disappearance, but it was ‘presumed fatal’ for him.
Valentich with a Cessna, similar to the aircraft he disappeared in.
How was it explained? The Australian government came up with several potential explanations. Firstly, as he had enough fuel to fly 800km, they have suggested he may have staged his own disappearance. However there were no reports of matching aircrafts plotted on any radar at this time. Secondly, they claimed that he may have been disoriented and was flying upside down – meaning that the lights he saw were actually a reflection of his own in the water. Finally, they have suggested that he may have committed suicide. However, many believe that – as there was no trace of him or his craft, and he was a competent and qualified pilot with a happy life – he was abducted.
The Lubbock Lights
When? August-September 1951 Where? Lubbock, Texas
What happened? On the night of 25 August 1951 Dr. W.I. Robinson was standing in the back garden of his home with two of his colleagues from the Texas Technological College, Professor Ducker and Dr. Oberg. All of a sudden all three men saw several lights fly across the sky, silently. They flew across the whole horizon within a matter of seconds, and the same thing happened again a few moments later. Between August and November Professor Ducker claims to have seen 12 similar flights, and several of his colleagues witnessed some as well. Hundreds of other non-scientists claimed to have seen the lights too. On the evening of 30 August, Texas Tech student, Carl Hart Jr. spotted the lights and was able to take five successive photos of them with his 35-mm Kodak camera. He was paid $10 for the photos and they were printed in papers nationally. However, the professors stated that these photos did not accurately portray the lights they had been seeing. Carl photographed the lights flying in a V formation – the professors had consistently seen them flying in a U shape.
The Lubbock Lights, 1951
How was it explained? Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, who would later become the first director of Project Blue Book, was sent to Lubbock to investigate the lights. To this day, an extraterrestrial explanation for the lights has never been fully debunked, however, other possible explanations have been cited. It was suggested that it was a group of Plover birds, shooting stars or comet fragments – though none of these explanations ever really fit the bill.
The Belgian UFO Wave
When? 1989 - 1990 Where? Across Belgium
What happened? These sightings began in 1989 but peaked with the events on 30/31 March 1990. On that night several unknown objects were tracked by two Belgian aircrafts and photographed. Additionally, they were witnessed by around 13,500 people with 2,600 filing official written statements detailing what they saw. The general description of the sighting is of three unusual lights, brighter than stars and changing colour, flying across the sky towards the South-East of Brussels. Patrols of Belgian aircraft were sent to investigate and try to track the lights, which had formed into small triangles. They managed to obtain a radar lock onto the unidentified crafts on three occasions, but their targets rapidly accelerated each time before descending to ground level. The pilots never made visual contact with the targets. The sudden changes in speed of the unidentified crafts should have been fatal to their pilots. Ground witnesses, the police and the pilots all give identical accounts of this sighting.
How was it explained? Many people are sceptical about these sightings, mainly because the only photo to emerge from the wave turned out to be a hoax. A lot of people explain the sightings as mass delusion, from misinformation spread by the media and the UFO logical organisation. Others argue that they were simply helicopters, their silence explained by a strong natural wind, or other noise drowning their engine sound out. However, nothing has been confirmed or verified, and the Belgian UFO Wave remains unexplained.
The Battle of Los Angeles
When? 1942 Where? Los Angeles, California
What happened? On the night of 24 February 1942, not too long after the attack on Pearl Harbor, air raid sirens rang out across Los Angeles. Thousands of people witnessed searchlights around Los Angeles fixing on a target hovering over the city, and the Coast Guard Anti-aircraft guns were ready to fire. They assumed it was an attack from Japan – but they were wrong. To this day, the Japanese claim they never attacked and there is no wreckage or other evidence to say that they did. People inland started to report seeing the large craft, or fleet, and Air Raid Wardens put the city into blackout. Some witnesses describe the sighting as a tremendous single object, crawling through the sky, whilst others say it was a group of smaller objects. At 3.16am a barrage of AA shells began, and the firing at the object continued throughout the night until the blackout was lifted at 7.21am. Several buildings were damaged in the firing and six people were killed – three by friendly fire and three from stress caused by the attacks.
How was it explained? The next morning the papers were filled with several different explanations. Some reported that it was Japanese planes that were shot down – though there was no evidence to say that this was the case. The LA Times ran a front-page picture showing an image of an odd object caught in the searchlights. The Government denounced the whole story, calling it a false alarm caused by ‘war nerves’, however many witnesses confirm that they believe what they saw was extra-terrestrial.

Do aliens exist? Most compelling evidence of alien existence
Do aliens exist? Most compelling evidence of alien existence
Some say it’s obvious we’re not alone, others scorn the very idea and still others yet will hauntingly report their own experiences of alien probings following their casual night-time stroll through the fields of small town America. But with everything from increasingly bizarre reportings from increasingly credible sources, to basic mathematical probability suggesting the likelihood of alien life, these days, scepticism is harder won. Whatever your opinions, you may well find that the following examples have some impact on them.
Ancient evidence
It’s easy enough to write off much recent phenomena, quoting anything from wayward weather balloons to the perpetuation of the legend and UFO sightings in pop culture providing a cohesive image of extra terrestrials for eye witnesses to draw on should someone cry alien. But what’s slightly harder to dismiss is the ancient evidence (i.e. pre the National Enquirer). Enter the ‘The Madonna with Saint Giovannino’, otherwise known as the UFO painting.
"The Madonna with Saint Giovannino" Arcangelo di Jacopo del Sellaio [FAL], via Wikimedia Commons
Created in the 15th century, it depicts the Virgin Mary and in the backdrop of the painting, a man and his dog staring up at a hovering disk-like object that is suspiciously familiar. And this painting isn’t alone either, with everything from ancient cave paintings to Sanskrit Scrolls all depicting alien life. A sighting even crops up in the Bible in The Book of Ezekiel. Either this is compelling evidence, or humanity has a rich tradition of conspiracy theorists.
In the ancient city of Paracas, Peru, archeologists have uncovered mummified remains with elongated skulls dating back to 300 BC.
Statistical data
Back in 1961, astronomer Frank Drake devised an equation by which he could estimate the likelihood of the existence of alien life, taking into account a number of factors including the average number of planets able to support life and the fraction that could go on to support intelligent life. This was then implemented in 2001. The result: statistically, hundreds of thousands of such planets should technically exist.
Unsolved sightings
There are more registered sightings of UFOs than there is the word count here to deal with them and the majority of the time, there’s a thorough debunking accompanying them. But throughout history there have been a number that have been harder to explain away, from the to 1853 sighting by a number of students and professors at the Tennessee College campus, to the oft quoted Stephenville Lights case from 2008, with over 200 witnesses spotting the UFO including three policemen who remained anonymous. Consider these compelling cases unsolved.
Astronauts’ claims
If you’re going to believe any reports of UFOs, you might as well trust those coming from the men who have actually been to space (who usually also come with all their teeth and a P.H.D.). The list of those who have made claims of sightings includes Edgar Mitchell, Cady Coleman and Dr. Brian O’Leary, many also referencing government knowledge of alien existence and cover-ups. Buzz Aldrin has also spoken of his own experience on board the Apollo 11 when they saw something flying alongside them. At first they thought it was the final stage of the detached rocket, until mission control confirmed it was 6000 miles away from them…
Government files
While some US presidents have released classified files on the subject of UFOs, with Jimmy Carter famously describing his own encounter, others still have been denied access to classified information on the subject altogether, Bill Clinton claiming to be among them. This has led many believers to suggest there’s a cover up afoot. Clinton has been consistently vocal on the existence of aliens and it’s worth noting his opinions on an ‘Independence Day’ situation too. You know, just in case…

Unidentified flying object slowly flying above Melbourne, Australia 1-Feb-2016
Here’s one new interesting 2016 UFO sighting of a huge craft slowly flying across the night sky above Narre Warren, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. This was filmed this Monday.
Witness report: This is not a plane. There was no noise after this passed over unlike planes that have a sound after they pass. This came from Berwick direction at approx. 10:15pm 1/2/2016.
UFO and Extraterrestrial Visitors: The Truth Is Finally Out There
UFO and Extraterrestrial Visitors: The Truth Is Finally Out There
The truth is absolutely, undeniably, out there and the aliens have undeniably been here. This has been an area that I have taken intrinsic interest in for some time now and it is necessary to believe that not only do aliens exist, but they have visited Earth not once, but multiple times. Now, let’s put to the side that X-Files is my favorite show and let’s leave my love of Tralfamadore out of this discussion. The Fourth Kind is terrifying and not true (not literally true). Also, I will not cite Ancient Aliens from the History Channel.
The preoccupation with extraterrestrials visiting Earth is a fundamental idea that seeks to answer the question, “Are we alone?” A look at the stars says we are not. The sheer number leaves the door wide open that there is living intelligent or not-so-intelligent life out there. Astronomers today use Frank Drake’s equation to determine life in our Milky Way Galaxy alone and though the results are varied; the odds favor other life is indeed out there. And that’s just our galaxy. Humans are always searching for the next bold frontier. It is our nature. The search for extraterrestrial life is a fundamental and necessary search that humans cannot help but undertake. It’s human nature at work.
But did extraterrestrial life forms ever visit Earth? This is a question that can never truly be proven as a definitive “yes” or a definitive “no.” It all comes down to belief in the evidence and whether one “wants to believe” or doesn’t “want to believe.” Skeptics see the evidence and write it off as nonsense, people who believe we are not alone and have been visited see evidence and believe it. A skeptic will always see what’s been proven false and a believer will always see what can’t be disproven.
UFO sightings and alien abductions are the stuff of rednecks and crackpots. This is the stuff of the paranoid and the crazy. But, underneath all the doubt and skepticism lies room for debate. There are multitudes upon multitudes of cases spanning not just 70 or 80 years (since the UFO fascination began in the 1940s) but since the very dawn of civilization itself. Records of extraterrestrial visitors are found in cave art, ancient texts, the bible itself as well as in works of art. Photographs of UFOs and reports of strange phenomena are all out there to be found.
For every case disproven, there is at least one that lies unsolved. The first case I want to point to is perhaps the most well known case of a downed UFO and recovered alien bodies: The Roswell Incident and Area 51. This arguably started the infatuation with UFO sightings, but this case also stands out in the level of government secrecy surrounding the event and the action taken following the event. In July 1947 something crashed in the New Mexico desert outside of Roswell. On July 8th, 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) reported capturing a flying saucer and it was widely reported in the newspapers. They transported the wreckage to a top-secret Air Force Base, Area 51. Following the event, Major Jesse Marcel, who was involved with the original clean up, reported that alien bodies were recovered and taken away by the government.
Following the crash of the UFO, Harry S. Truman issued the Majestic-12 Documents. The documents were government protocol for dealing with downed UFOs, in particular the crash at Roswell, as well as handling extraterrestrial entities found in the wreckage. A briefing to the incoming President Eisenhower included a documents list of all persons associated with the Majestic-12 report as well as a briefing on the recovered aircraft from Roswell and one other recovered craft found in northern Mexico in December 1950. The Majestic-12 documents led to the now-decommissioned Project Blue Book that was the United States Air Force’s official investigation into any and all UFOs, downed UFOs and extraterrestrial entities.Project Blue Book was reviewed by an ad hoc committee headed by Carl Sagan. The purpose was to put the documents under a more rigorous scientific investigation. The conclusion was that all the unidentified flying objects, whatever they were, did not behave in a manner that threatened national security. The review did not discredit the documents.

The conclusion was that all the unidentified flying objects, whatever they were, did not behave in a manner that threatened national security. The review did not discredit the documents.
The official documents and government memos concerning the UFO phenomena and extraterrestrial visitors to Earth points to an attempt to discredit public accounts of such things while placing serious emphasis on research and dealing with encounters. Cover-ups such as this have been going on in the United States government for years; even Bill Clinton showed an interest. There is a truth that is being concealed in plain sight. Does that sound too paranoid? Sorry.
The Phoenix Lights was a phenomenon that was witnessed by hundreds of people in the Arizona skies. It was witnessed and addressed by the governor of Arizona and it is an extremely well documented case. The most well-known and documented occurrence of the lights occurred on March 13, 1997. Hundreds of people saw what has been referred to as a “parade” in the skies over the Phoenix area. Between 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm, hundreds of people witnessed lights pass over the state in a triangular formation in the space of 300 miles. The case for many was undeniable proof of extraterrestrial visitors.
A case such as this is important because it is not just the word of one person, but it is the word of hundreds of first-hand accounts. Regular people living in a metropolitan area witnessed a triangular shaped object slowly move over the state. Just this past March, another case of lights over Phoenix were seen and documented with no official explanation as to what they were. It is a bizarre case and it is certainly one that deserves careful consideration before dismissing it as weather balloons or flares.
It is also worth mentioning that extraterrestrials have been visiting our planet and interacting with humans for thousands of years. The “ancient astronaut” theory points to evidence of remarkable human achievement that could seemingly not be done without the aid of an advanced entity. The Nazca Lines in Peru are hundreds of gigantic carvings in the ground that portray various animals and designs that are only visible from the sky. The freestanding stones at Stonehenge, the pyramids, and the statues at Easter Island all seem to be larger-than-life creations given the technology available when they were created. Theorists claim that extraterrestrials had a hand in the creation of these ancient structures and they were created in a sort of homage to the extraterrestrials.
The bible and other ancient texts seem to point to aliens visiting Earth. The Ramayana from the 4th Century BCE in India speaks of intricate flying ships called Vimanas. The text, though very old, does seem to speak with an air of knowledge regarding machines that are not supposed to be seen on Earth for another 2,000 years: “O royal skilled engineer, construct sea-boats, propelled on water by our/experts, and airplanes, moving and flying upward, after the clouds that reside/in the mid-region, that fly as the boats move on the sea, that fly high over/and below the watery clouds. Be thou, thereby, prosperous in this world/created by the Omnipresent God, and flier in both air and lightening.” Yajur Veda 10.19
The bible also makes references that seem to point to extraterrestrial visitors in the Old Testament and the Vatican has come out in support of the idea of extraterrestrial life. What secrets does the Vatican Library and Conservatory hold? We may never know.
Skull-elongation in ancient Egypt is also seen as a means to emulate extraterrestrial visitors or they are said to have been alien-human hybrids living and breeding here on Earth with humans. According to alien abduction accounts, the “grays” (the conventional image of an alien when you think of one) are often depicted as having an elongated skull and large eyes. One of the most well-documented and researched abduction cases is the case of Betty and Barney Hill in New Hampshire in 1961. The Hills were among the first to offer a description of alien visitors in this way. The Hill’s case is perhaps the most well-known and well-researched abduction case. It is a notable place to begin research into alien abductions and there is a great deal of evidence that lends truth to the Hill’s claims; frozen time, reoccurring dreams, hypnotism and all.
The truth of it all is that there is so much out there to look through and so much to include in this discussion. There is plenty to bring up when making the case for extraterrestrial contact on Earth and it takes a certain interest in the subject to want to look further. There are truths being kept that still need to be found and understood.
Abduction cases, ancient marvels, UFO sightings and extraterrestrial encounters are happening everyday. It is simply human nature to take these into account and wonder, “Are we alone?” The next great frontier is always at the forefront of our endeavors and humans have been forging ahead at the top of the pyramid for a long time now. It is a natural wonder to feel that there is something out there watching us and waiting, slightly ahead of the curve for us to come around. The truth is out there and the evidence is here. Let human nature do its thing and find it.

CIA Released Hundreds UFO Files After New Season X-Files
CIA Released Hundreds UFO Files After New Season X-Files
New series of X-Files was kicked off in the United States. The US spy agency CIA decided at the same time to release hundreds of UFO documents on the investigation into UFOs.
The CIA’s website states that the pieces are mainly from the forties and fifties. “We decided to bring some documents to the attention, both skeptics and believers will find this interesting”, says the espionage service.
The CIA announced the revelation of the UFO documents on Twitter:
The CIA declassified hundreds of documents in 1978 detailing the Agency’s investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). The documents date primarily from the late 1940s and 1950s.
To help navigate the vast amount of data contained in our FOIA UFO collection, we’ve decided to highlight a few documents both skeptics and believers will find interesting. Below you will find five documents we think X-Files character Agent Fox Mulder would love to use to try and persuade others of the existence of extraterrestrial activity. We also pulled five documents we think his skeptical partner, Agent Dana Scully, could use to prove there is a scientific explanation for UFO sightings.
The truth is out there; click on the links to find it.
Top 5 CIA Documents Mulder Would Love To Get His Hands On:
Southbound on a lone desert highway, police officer Lonnie Zamora was in pursuit of a speeding car outside the town of Socorro, New Mexico, when he was startled by a loud roar! Seconds later, he saw a large flame rise from the ground and pierce the sky above a remote patch of desert southwest of the highway. Fearing a nearby dynamite shack might have exploded, Zamora let the speeding car go, turned right, and drove down a bumpy gravel road that ran alongside the shack.
Zamora’s cruiser clunked along the rocky road until he came upon a steep hill. Rising from behind the hill was a smokeless fire that glowed in a funnel of blue and orange tinted flames. The hill obscured the origin of the flames, so Zamora attempted to drive up it. His cruiser’s tires slipped and swayed on the loose gravel, but after three attempts, Zamora finally made it to the top.
A shiny object, the size of a sedan, sparkled in the late afternoon sunshine about 150-200 yards from where Zamora was perched on the hilltop. At first glance, he thought it was a car overturned in an arroyo (dry creek bed), but when he drove closer, it appeared to be aluminum in color, not chrome, and oval-shaped like a football.
Zamora drove toward the object, along the hill’s crest, for about 50 feet and then stopped the car. He radioed back to the sheriff’s office that he would be busy checking on a wreck “down in the arroyo,” and then he descended on foot down the hill toward the object.
Roooaaarrr! Zamora was startled again by a very loud rumble, not exactly like a blast but also not steady like a jet engine. It started at a low frequency, with the pitch slowly rising. The flame appeared to be coming from the underside of the object, glowing light blue on top and orange at the bottom. Zamora panicked, afraid the object was about to blow.
Zamora sprinted to his car, hit his leg on the fender, and crashed to the ground. He got up, ran another 25 feet or so, and when he looked back again, he saw the object begin to rise.He ran to take cover but turned back to look at the object as he fled. He noticed a red symbol on the side, shaped like a point that was about 2 inches high and 2 inches wide. The object was smooth, a shiny white aluminum, with no visible windows or doors. There appeared to be two metal legs, slanted outward, supporting it.
It rose to the level of the car, then higher, about 20 to 25 feet in the air.
Zamora ran another 50 feet from his car, just over the edge of the hill, and ducked. Kneeling as close to the ground as he could, he covered his face with his arms for protection. Suddenly, the roar stopped. In the uneasy silence, Zamora lifted his head and looked.
The object sped away from him, toward the southwest, appearing to go in a straight line at about 10-15 feet off the ground. It cleared the eight foot tall dynamite shack by about three feet and then continued in a southwesterly direction, until it went over the high desert mountains and disappeared…
Hector Quintanilla, the last chief officer of the US Air Force’s famous UFO investigation program, Project BLUE BOOK, was in charge of the Zamora case. His team was convinced that Zamora was telling the truth, and despite an extremely thorough investigation, they were unable to locate the object or its origins. In an article for Studies in Intelligence called, “The Investigation of UFO’s,” Quintanilla says that the Zamora sighting is “the best-documented case on record.” It remains unsolved.
Project BLUE BOOK was based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. Between 1947 and 1969, the Air Force recorded 12,618 sightings of strange phenomena — 701 of which remain “unidentified” like the Zamora case. Although the CIA was not directly affiliated with Project BLUE BOOK, the Agency did play a large role in investigating UFOs in the late 1940s and early 1950s, which led to the creation of several studies, panels, and programs. Former CIA Chief Historian, Gerald K. Haines, wrote an in-depth article looking at the Agency’s role in studying the UFO phenomenon for Studies in Intelligence. In his article, “CIA’s Role in the Study of UFOs, 1947-90,” Haines says that “while the Agency’s concern over UFOs was substantial until the early 1950s, CIA has since paid only limited and peripheral attention to the phenomena.”
With over 20 years of investigations, from the late 1940s until Project BLUE BOOK’s termination in 1969, the CIA and USAF have learned a thing or two about how to investigate a UFO sighting. While most government officials and scientists now dismiss flying saucer reports as a quaint relic of the 1950s and 1960s, there’s still a lot that can be learned from the history and methodology of “flying saucer intelligence.”
10 Tips When Investigating a Flying Saucer:
1. Establish a Group To Investigate and Evaluate Sightings
Before December 1947, there was no specific organization tasked with the responsibility for investigating and evaluating UFO sightings. There were no standards on how to evaluate reports coming in, nor were there any measurable data points or results from controlled experiment for comparison against reported sightings.
To end the confusion, head of the Air Force Technical Service Command, General Nathan Twining, established Project SIGN (initially named Project SAUCER) in 1948 to collect, collate, evaluate, and distribute within the government all information relating to such sightings, on the premise that UFOs might be real (although not necessarily extraterrestrial) and of national security concern. Project SIGN eventually gave way to Project GRUDGE, which finally turned into Project BLUE BOOK in 1952.
2. Determine the Objectives of Your Investigation
The CIA’s concern over UFOs was substantial until the early 1950s because of the potential threat to national security from these unidentified flying objects. Most officials did not believe the sightings were extraterrestrial in origin; they were instead concerned the UFOs might be new Soviet weapons.
The Project BLUE BOOK team, according to Quintanilla, defined three main objectives for their investigations:
To determine if UFO phenomena present a threat to the security of the US;
To determine if UFO phenomena exhibit any technological advances which could be channeled into US research and development; and
To explain or identify the stimuli which caused the observer to report a UFO.
Although BLUE BOOK, like previous investigative projects on the topic, did not rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial phenomena, their research and investigations focused primarily on national security implications, especially possible Soviet technological advancements.
3. Consult With Experts
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, various projects, panels, and other studies were led or sponsored by the US government to research the UFO phenomenon. This includes the CIA-sponsored 1953 Scientific Advisory Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects, also known as the “Robertson Panel.” It was named after the noted physicist H.P. Robertson from the California Institute of Technology, who helped put together the distinguished panel of nonmilitary scientists to study the UFO issue.
Project BLUE BOOK also frequently consulted with outside experts, including: astrophysicists, Federal Aviation officials, pilots, the US Weather Bureau, local weather stations, academics, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, NASA, Kodak (for photo analysis), and various laboratories (for physical specimens). Even the famous astronomer Carl Sagan took part in a panel to review Project BLUE BOOK’s findings in the mid-1960s. The report from that panel concluded that “no UFO case which represented technological or scientific advances outside of a terrestrial framework” had been found, but the committee did recommend that UFOs be studied intensively to settle the issue once and for all.
4. Create a Reporting System To Organize Incoming Cases
The US Air Force’s Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) developed questionnaires to be used when taking reports of possible UFO sightings, which were used throughout the duration of Project BLUE BOOK. The forms were used to provide the investigators enough information to determine what the unknown phenomenon most likely was. The duration of the sighting, the date, time, location, or position in the sky, weather conditions, and the manner of appearance or disappearance are essential clues for investigators evaluating reported UFO sightings.
According to Quintanilla, “a sighting is considered unidentified when a report apparently contains all the data necessary to suggest a valid hypothesis, but its description cannot be correlated with any known object or phenomenon.”Project BLUE BOOK categorized sightings according to what the team suspected they were attributable to: Astronomical (including bright stars, planets, comets, fireballs, meteors, and auroral streamers); Aircraft(propeller aircraft, jet aircraft, refueling missions, photo aircraft, advertising aircraft, helicopters); Balloons; Satellites; Other (including missiles, reflections, mirages, searchlights, birds, kites, spurious radar indications, hoaxes, fireworks, and flares); Insufficient Data; and finally, Unidentified.
5. Eliminate False Positives
Eliminate each of the known and probable causes of UFO sightings, leaving a small portion of “unexplained” cases to focus on. By ruling out common explanations, investigators can focus on the truly mysterious cases.
Some common explanations for UFO sightings discovered by early investigations included: misidentified aircrafts (the U-2, A-12, and SR-71 flights accounted for more than half of all UFO reports from the late 1950s and most of the 1960s); celestial events; mass hysteria and hallucination; “war hysteria;” “midsummer madness;” hoaxes; publicity stunts; and the misinterpretation of known objects.
Even history can shed some light. An interesting citation found by the 1953 Robertson Panel noted that some sightings had been attributed to an older phenomenon – “Foo Fighters” – that pre-dated the modern concept of UFOs: “These were unexplained phenomena sighted by aircraft pilots during World War II in both European and Far East theaters of operation wherein ‘balls of light’ would fly near or with the aircraft and maneuver rapidly. They were believed to be electrostatic (similar to St. Elmo’s fire) or electromagnetic phenomena… but their exact cause or nature was never defined. If the term ‘flying saucers’ had been popular in 1943-1945, these objects would have been so labeled.”
6. Develop Methodology To Identify Common Aircraft and Other Aerial Phenomena Often Mistaken for UFOs
Because of the significant likelihood a common (or secret military) aircraft could be mistaken for a UFO, it’s important to know the characteristics of different types of aircraft and aerial phenomenon to evaluate against each sighting. To help investigators go through the troves of reports coming in, Project BLUE BOOK developed a methodology to determine if the UFO sighting could likely be attributable to a known aircraft or aerial phenomenon. They wrote up detailed descriptions characterizing each type of aircraft or astronomical phenomenon, including how it might be mistaken for a UFO, to help investigators evaluate the incoming reports.
7. Examine Witness Documentation
Any photographs, videos, or audio recordings can be immensely helpful in evaluating a reported UFO sighting.
A famous case examined by the Robertson Panel was the “Tremonton, Utah Sighting” of 1952, where a couple and two children traveling cross-country on State Highway 30 outside of Tremonton saw what appeared to be 10-12 bright shining objects moving westward in the sky in a rough formation. The husband was able to capture some of the objects on film.
The case was considered significant because of the “excellent documentary evidence in the form of Kodachrome motion picture films (about 1600 frames).” The Panel examined the film, case history, ATIC’s interpretation, and received a briefing from representatives of the USN Photo Interpretation Laboratory on their analysis of the film. The laboratory believed the objects were not birds, balloons, aircraft, or reflections, and therefore had to be “self-luminous.” The panel disagreed with the assessment that the objects were self-luminous, believing that if a controlled experiment was conducted, a terrestrial explanation for the sighting would be confirmed.
8. Conduct Controlled Experiments
As suggested by the Robertson Panel for investigating the Tremonton, Utah sighting (mentioned in tip #7), controlled experiments might be required to try and replicate the unknown phenomena. In the Tremonton case, the Panel suggested an experiment where scientists would photograph “pillow balloons” at different distances under similar weather conditions at the site. They believed such an experiment could help dispel the “self-luminous” theory about the objects in the film. Unfortunately, in this case, the cost of conducting such an experiment made the idea unfeasible.
9. Gather and Test Physical and Forensic Evidence
In the Zamora case (from the introduction), Quintanilla contends that during the course of the investigation and immediately thereafter, “everything that was humanly possible to verify was checked.” This included bringing in Geiger counters from Kirtland Air Force Base to test for radiation in the landing area and sending soil samples to the Air Force Materials Laboratory. “The soil analysis disclosed no foreign material. Radiation was normal for the ‘tracks’ and surrounding area. Laboratory analysis of the burned brush showed no chemicals that could have been propellant residue,” according to Quintanilla. “The findings were all together negative.” No known explanation could be found for the mysterious event.
10. Discourage False Reporting
The Robertson Panel found that the Air Force had “instituted a fine channel for receiving reports of nearly anything anyone sees in the sky and fails to understand.” This is a classic example of needing to separate the “signal from the noise.” If you have too many false or junk reports, it becomes increasingly difficult to find the few good ones worthy of investigation or attention.
The CIA in the early 1950s was concerned that because of the tense Cold War situation and increased Soviet capabilities, the Soviets could use UFO reports to ignite mass panic and hysteria. Even worse, the Soviets could use UFO sightings to overload the US air warning system so that it could not distinguish real targets from supposed UFOs.
In order to lessen the amount of false-positive reports, the Robertson Panel suggested educating the military, researchers, and even the public on how to identify objects or phenomena commonly mistaken for UFOs. For example, they recommended training enlisted, command, and research personnel on how to properly recognize unusually illuminated objects (like balloons or aircraft reflections), as well as natural phenomena (such as meteors, fireballs, mirages, or noctilucent “night” clouds). By knowing how to correctly recognize objects that were commonly mistaken for UFOs, investigators could quickly eliminate false reports and focus on identifying those sightings which remained unexplained.
