Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Witnesses stunned after separate 'UFOs' sighted flying over Plymouth
A low-flying aircraft, described by witnesses as similar to a "cargo plane", was spotted over Whitleigh while a second UFO was sighted flying over Stoke
SEPARATE sightings of an unidentified flying object shooting across the Plymouth skyline have left two residents speechless - and air traffic controllers baffled.
A low-flying aircraft, described as a "cargo plane" by witnesses, was first spotted shortly after 7pm on Monday night hovering above a row of houses in Whitleigh.
Less than three hours later and locals in Stoke reported seeing an "out-of-this-world" spaceship with "bright, white lights" shifting from left to right at high speed.
Air traffic controllers, meanwhile, say there were no known planes flying over the city at the specified times.

Two UFOs were spotted by Herald reader Vicky Liu earlier this week flying over Morrisons
Ian Shepherd, who reported the Stoke sighting, said: "I thought it was a plane at first, but it was moving way too fast to be something from this world.
"It was travelling from left to right, left to right. It was so quick, it was like it was teleporting across the sky.
"It was so far away, it was hard to say what it was exactly, but it was football-shaped and had this light that changed from being constant and white to blinking and rusty-like. It was copper-coloured.
"It was such a clear sky that there was no way anyone could miss it. It was definitely not a drone, it was too quick and bright for that and it definitely wasn't a plane.
"I don't care what people might say, that was a UFO."
Earlier in the evening, witnesses described a "silent" aircraft flying just inches above a house on Taunton Avenue in Whitleigh.
A local resident, who has asked not to be named, said he was with his cousin and a friend when the 'plane' flew overhead.
"I thought it was going to hit a chimney," he said.
"It turned on its side and it was literally inches away from hitting these houses. The strange thing was, I couldn't hear any engines or jets.
"It was silent. It passed over us so quickly that I didn't manage to get a picture, but all three of us saw it.
"I was shocked. I even reported it to the police using their non-emergency number, but they didn't know what it was."
A Ministry of Defence spokesman confirmed there were no military flights scheduled in Plymouth on Monday night, though a Cornish man photographed what he claims was a NATO spy plane circling over St Austell on Tuesday morning.
Paul Beauchamp, of the National Air Traffic Services, gave some hope to conspiracy theorists, however, after failing to rule out the two sightings.
"We have had a look at our logs for Monday night and there are no reports which match this type of activity," he explained.
"However, we handle traffic in a controlled air space and, for Plymouth, that starts at around 14,000ft. Any reports of aircraft flying near housing is too low for us to monitor.
"We cannot categorically say what it was these two people saw."
Masses of people have taken to social media to find out answers, and there have been an assortment of sugegstions as to what the strange sight might have been.
From cargo planes to drones with LED lights attached, no conclusion has yet been reached.
Tish Curran said on Facebook: "It flew past my house in Wotter, was quite low as could see it out the window."
And Nina Carter commented: "I saw the low flying plane last night when I was working in Ernesettle at about 7, it flew over Tamerton creek heading towards the Tamar Bridge, I thought it was a military aircraft too."
However Aaron Barrett offered an alternative. He said: "Sorry to disappoint but it was my drone I had some new LED lights attached."

UFOs seem to blip out or instantly vanish over Ontario, Canada.
UFOs are reported across the globe on a daily basis, and it’s often the same thing — a circular object shines brilliantly in the sky, and then, instantly, it disappears.
Of course, if an advanced civilization in a far off galaxy had the technology to cross the far reaches of space, we might assume the pilots of those spacecraft could also have a cloaking device or hyperspace afterburners, like you might see in your favorite science fiction movie.
A sighting last month in Ontario, Canada, posted to YouTube, delights viewers’ eyes and lives up to every expectation of a close encounter, except in one respect: It probably isn’t real.
We generally don’t comment on anonymous UFO reports posted on social media. However, this one seems to illustrate an important point, and you might keep this in mind the next time you think you see an ET’s spacecraft.
The eyewitness, known only from his V-For-Victor (V4V) YouTube channel, claims that he saw through his bedroom window, “three bright objects in the sky hovering beside each other in a strange formation.”
V4V decided to videotape the objects after they began to blink randomly, disappear and reappear in the same spot. The following 13-second video shows some of this activity.
The incident is under investigation by MUFON, an international UFO research organization that collects UFO reports and attempts to come up with credible explanations for those sightings.
MUFON is not related to any academic organization, nor are their internally trained investigators required to have advanced degrees in science.
The first problem with this submission, of course, is that we don’t know the identity of the eyewitness.
MUFON claims it withholds a submitter’s personal information to save that person the negative attention that might come from claiming to see a UFO.
That’s understandable. Nobody wants to be dismissed as a kook. Still, that means we know nothing about this person’s credibility, mental health or sobriety at the time of the incident. He or she might simply be a prankster.
In this particular case, HuffPost reached out for more information to V4V, who didn’t respond to our request.
The YouTube posting does provide some background, at least.
“I have no idea how high and how far away the UFOs were,” V4V says. “[They] looked very large. I did not hear strange noises or any aircraft engines ... The color of the UFOs was a yellow/orange, almost like car lights.”
But we don’t know exactly when the incident took place because the witness’ post contains conflicting information, and there are no corroborating witnesses.
His written report begins with: “Filmed with a iPad Air 2, on Feb. 19, 2016.”
Yet, just below that, where the incident description actually unfolds, it says: “OnFeb. 21, 2016, at around 5:50 PM, I witnessed 3 UFOs hovering outside.”
So, did this take place on Feb. 19 or Feb. 21?
A Holland-based YouTube channel, FindingUFO, presents information, news and videos about dubious UFOs, submitted by people from around the world. The channel added some visual enhancements to the Canada video, in the following attempt to better clarify the UFOs in this story:
Some of the comments on the YouTube page of the original report support the eyewitness’ testimony of capturing something very unusual in the sky.
Others weren’t so kind, suggesting the UFOs were simply window-reflected lights.
HuffPost showed the video and written report to Marc Dantonio, a video and image specialist of FX Models, who uses advanced software tools in his photo analysis work.
“Interesting video,” Dantonio emailed HuffPost. “However, I noticed something peculiar when the objects vanish in the ‘sky.’ I say ‘sky’ that way because, in my opinion, they were very likely not in the sky at all. I could see, at one point in the video, the edge of a window. I believe we are seeing lights reflected in a window, and the ‘winking out’ is just the light becoming blocked in the room, and thus, no longer reflecting in the window.
“The right-hand light goes out top to bottom. It’s like someone slid a piece of paper or cardboard down in front of the lights one by one. In my opinion, we are looking through a window and viewing light reflections that were extinguished manually, one by one.”
We’re not saying this is what V4V did. We’re just keeping the dialogue open.

Exploding Weather Balloons, Not UFOs
On Dec. 20, 2012, a bright, circular object (pictured at the top of this composite image) was videotaped exploding in the skies above Sacramento, Calif. It wasn't immediately identified, resulting in speculation that it was either an alien spacecraft, military top secret weapon, runaway planet, North Korean satellite, among others. Within a short period of time, it became apparent that this was a weather balloon. The bottom part of this image shows such a balloon as it ascended over Tampa Bay, Fla., on July 2, 2012, and exploded in an identical manner as the Sacramento object, probably much to the dismay of all true ET believers out there.
Weather Phenomenon
Some UFO sightings may be due to a natural phenomenon known as sprites, like this one shown from 2006. "Lightning from [a] thunderstorm excites the electric field above, producing a flash of light called a sprite," said geophysicist Colin Price.
Clouds
Clouds: Saucer-shaped or "lenticular" clouds that form at high altitudes have been confused with UFOs.
Meteors
Meteors: Space debris can create a spectacular light show when it burns through the Earth's atmosphere, and sometimes reported as UFOs.

NASA Scientist speaks out: There’s someone else on the moon
It seems that it isn’t a question anymore whether or not there are mysterious ‘Alien’ structures on the moon. In the last couple of years, numerous scientists with verifiable background have come forward speaking about a sinister truth behind Earth’s moon.
Ever since the Freedom of Information Act was created, people have become aware that not all what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ is made public. We are talking about the numerous discoveries that have been made throughout the years and have been kept safely away from society.
One of the best comments about this secrecy was made by Neil Armstrong when he said that there are: “great ideas undiscovered, breakthroughs available to those who can remove one of the truth’s protective layers.” (source) (source)
The Freedom of Information Act allows full or partial disclosure of highly classified –previously unreleased—information and archives controlled by the Government of the United States of America.
In the last couple of years, a number of scientists working for NASA have come forward speaking about Earth’s moon and the mysteries associated with it. For example, George Leonard, A NASA scientists in charge of photo analysis obtained several extremely ‘controversial’ images from the moon, published in his book called Somebody Else Is On The Moon.
Even though the images featured in the book are of a relatively poor quality and small size, they display some incredible features of original massive prints belonging to NASA.
To back his claims up, Leonard even published the identifying code numbers belonging to the original images in his work, however, this was still not enough to say for certain whether or not the images are real, and the poor quality of the images makes it even harder to believe.
However, what is perhaps even more interesting than the images and their respective identification codes are the statements made by Leonard and his verified NASA credentials.
Leonard was yet another NASA employee who had spoken out about what was found on the moon, which is seen in some of the images taken during the Apollo missions. In his book, Leonard argues that NASA has known about extraterrestrial activity on the moon and have ever since, attempted to hide the information from the general public. Leonard wasnt the only one to make such claims.
“Read the books, read the lore, start to understand what has really been going on, because there is no doubt that we are being visited. . . . The universe that we live in is much more wondrous, exciting, complex and far-reaching than we were ever able to know up to this point in time. . . . [Mankind has long wondered if we’re] alone in the universe. [But] only in our period do we really have evidence. No, we’re not alone.” – Dr. Edgar Mitchell, ScD., former NASA astronaut and the 6th man to walk on the moon.
In 1979 Maurice Chatelain, former chief of NASA Communications Systems confirmed that Armstrong had indeed reported seeing two UFOs on the rim of a crater. “The encounter was common knowledge in NASA,” he revealed, “but nobody has talked about until now.”
According to Armstrong, unofficially, “We were warned away.” “I cannot go into details, except to say that their ships were far superior to ours both in size and technology. They were great … and threatening “.
Many people firmly believe that not all of the images released by NASA are the actual originals taken on the moon, and many believe this is because the original images of the moon reveal structures and artifacts that would cause pandemic among the general public. Many believe that there are hundreds of images from NASA that have been altered in order to hide structures, moon bases, and artifact that prove there is an Alien presence on the Moon. NASA scientists Dr. Farouk El-Baz described this the best way possible when he stated that “not every discovery has been announced to the public”.
In addition to Leonard and several former astronauts who have spoken out about Alien life, another interestingl claim comes from Dr. John Brandenburg who was the Deputy Manager of the Clementine Mission to the Moon The mission discovered water at the Moon’s poles in 1994. (source)
In an interview, Dr. Brandenburg —who spoke out about the fact that Life on Mars existed in the distant past— said the following:
“It was (the Clementine Mission) a photo reconnaissance mission basically to check out if someone was building bases on the moon that we didn’t know about. Were they expanding them?”
“Of all the pictures I’ve seen from the moon that show possible structures, the most impressive is a picture of miles wide recto-linear structure. This looked unmistakably artificial, and it shouldn’t be there. As somebody in the space defense community, I look on any such structure on the moon with great concern because it isn’t ours, there’s no way we could have built such a thing. It means someone else is up there.” (source)
Dr. Brandenburg made extremely interesting statements about Mars when he said that “there is enough evidence to prove that at least two major nuclear blasts went off on the surface of the red planet in the distant past.”
The theory proposed by Dr. Brandenburg is based on the traces of uranium and thorium that have been registered on the surface of Mars. This Martian civilization was wiped out by another hostile alien race from elsewhere in the universe. Dr Brandenburg warns that our civilization could face the same faith.
All of the above statements are clear indications of one thing: Extraterrestrial contact, on a global scale, is inevitable.
Officially, NASA and scientists around the globe have spoken out about aliens, and how they expect we will discover signs of extraterrestrial life in the next 20 years or so. However, many people believe these statements are a mere preparation for a disclosure movement that is going to change everything we beleived about mankind, our origin, and life in the universe.

Pretty much anything can be faked now days… I mean anyone with good photography skills, or a copy of Adobe Photoshop can do it. Anyways, these photos and occurrences are some of the most famous unexplained photos on the internet.
I can probably bet that you’ve come across some of these at one time or another. While some of these unexplained photos have still yet to be concluded 100% as fake, some have been completely debunked… Check them out below.
1. BLACK KNIGHT SATELLITE MYSTERY
The story:
“Legend has it that in orbit around the Earth is a mysterious, dark object which dates back perhaps 13 000 years. Its origin and purpose are inscrutable, dubbed the “Black Knight” this elusive satellite has allegedly been beaming signals towards the Earth and inspected by NASA astronauts yet only a few on Earth officially know of its existence.
“The origin of the ominous name is part of the enigma; it is impossible to discover who first called it this or indeed why. Humans have only in the last 60 years had the technology to launch a man-made object into space so what is the logical explanation of tales of an alien intruder on our doorstep?
Possible explanation: some people think it’s a thermal blanket that had been lost during an EVA….. or just some space debris.
2. THE MYSTERIOUS HINTERKAIFECK MURDERS
The story:
“In Germany, 1922, the murders of six people at the Hinterkaifeck farmstead shocked the nation. This wasn’t just because of the gruesome nature of the case, but also because the case was so incredibly weird, and it remains unsolved to this day. Over 100 people were interviewed in the murder, but no one was ever arrested. No motive was ever established as to explain the murders.
“The previous maid had left 6 months earlier, saying the home was haunted. The new maid arrived only hours before the murders. It is believed that the perpetrator(s) remained at the farm for several days – someone had fed the cattle, and eaten food in the kitchen: the neighbours had also seen smoke from the chimney during the weekend. This photo depicts one of the victims as he lay in the house barn.
Possible explanation: The photo really isn’t unexplained, the events did happen and the photo taken you see above is authentic…. What’s unexplained is the events that led up to it, and how it all went down. You can read more about it here.
3. THE PHOENIX LIGHTS
The story:
“The Phoenix Lights were a series of widely sighted unidentified flying objects, seen by 1000s of people, observed in the skies over Arizona, Nevada in the United States, and Sonora, Mexico on Thursday, March 13, 1997.There were allegedly two distinct events involved in the incident: a triangular formation of lights seen to pass over the state, and a series of stationary lights seen in the Phoenix area.
“The lights were reported to have reappeared in 2007 and 2008, but these events were quickly attributed to (respectively) military flares dropped by fighter aircraft at Luke Air Force Base and flares attached to helium balloons released by a civilian.
Possible explanation:a squad of A-10 fighters that dropped flares, and was confirmed by the Phoenix News Times back in 1998…. However, many people still believe it’s UFO’s
4. SOLWAY FIRTH ASTRONAUT
The story:
“Jim Templeton was in a marsh taking photos of his young daughter and after getting them developed there appeared to have been a Spaceman in full astronaut gear standing behind her. Except there wasn’t anyone else around while they were there. Even Kodak verified that it was not tampered with.
Possible explanation: Check out the photo below
5. THE FALLING BODY
The story:
“As the Cooper’s move into their new home in Texas, they take a photograph of the family sitting together, but as the photo is taken, a body falls from the ceiling.
Possible explanation:Photos like these were common in the 1950’s since people re-used film quite a bit back then due to it being so expensive. It’s most likely a photo overlay.
6. PHANTOM THUMB
The story:
“A group of four kids posing for a picture, however, there appears to be a mysterious thumb next to the kid in black on the right, that does not seem to align with anyone’s body.
Plausible explanation: a 5th boy ducking under everyone not in sight of the picture…. or some trick photography and Photoshop.
7. BATTLE OF LA
The story:
“A photo published in the Los Angeles Times on February 26, 1942 has been cited by modern day conspiracy theorists and Ufologists as evidence of an extra-terrestrial visitation. They assert that the photo clearly shows searchlights focused on an alien spaceship; however, the photo was heavily modified by photo retouching prior to publication, a routine practice in graphic arts of the time intended to improve contrast in black and white photos.
“Los Angeles Times writer Larry Harnish noted that the retouched photo along with faked newspaper headlines were presented as true historical material in trailers for the film Battle: Los Angeles. Harnish commented, “if the publicity campaign wanted to establish UFO research as nothing but lies and fakery, it couldn’t have done a better job.”
Possible explanation: you pretty much just read it… the photo was heavily retouched and it was actually a weather balloon.
8. HESSDALEN LIGHT
The story:
“Unusual lights have been reported here since 1940s or earlier. Especially high activity of Hessdalen lights took place from December 1981 until the summer of 1984 when lights were observed 15–20 times per week. The frequency of the lights caused a gathering of numerous tourists staying there overnight to see the phenomenon.
“Since then, the activity has decreased and now the lights are observed some 10–20 times per year. The Hessdalen light most often is a bright, white or yellow light of unknown origin standing or floating above the ground level. Sometimes the light can be seen for more than one hour. There are several other types of unexplained lights observed in the Hessdalen valley.
Possible explanation: scientists have had many theories on this, but the lights still remained unexplained to this day. Some experts think some sort of plasma causes the light when a gas ionises to form a cloud of ions and electrons. You can read the entire thing here.
9. THE TIME TRAVELER
The story:
“People believe that this photograph, taken in 1941 at the re-opening of the South Forks Bridge in Gold Bridge, Canada, is depicting a man in seemingly modern dress and style, with a camera that is advanced well beyond its time. The circle on the left illustrates a man with a camera typical to the time-period.
Possible explanation: while he does look out of place, everything he was wearing during that time period is correct… even the camera. Take a look at these three examples:

“In 2000, two photographs said to be of the Skunk Ape were taken by an anonymous woman and mailed to the Sarasota County, Florida, Sheriff’s Department. The photographs were accompanied by a letter from the woman in which she claims to have photographed an ape in her backyard.
Possible explanation: Most skeptics believe it’s nothing other than a black bear.
11. THE MADONNA WITH SAINT GIOVANNINO AND A UFO
The story:
“This painting is called “The Madonna with Saint Giovannino”. It was painted in the 15th century by Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494) and hangs as part of the Loeser collection in the Palazzo Vecchio. Above Mary’s right shoulder is a disk shaped object. Below is a blow up of this section and a man and his dog can clearly be seen looking up at the object.
Possible explanation: More than likely it’s just symbols added by the painters…. However, some skeptics believe it’s a cloud with sun rays beaming behind it. You can read more into it here.
12. THE FALCON LAKE INCIDENT
The story:
“The Falcon Lake Incident is a reported unidentified flying object (UFO) encounter near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, Canada claimed to have occurred on May 20, 1967 by Stefan Michalak. He had had taken a short vacation in Whiteshell Provincial Park to prospect veins of quartz near Falcon Lake when he spotted two cigar-shaped objects descending, one of which landed near him.
“Michelak says he saw a door open and heard voices from inside the object, after which he tried to make contact in English and other languages but got no response. He claims to have burned his hand while attempting to examine “colorful glass” found around the object and seen a grid-like exhaust vent that expelled gas that burned his clothing.
Possible explanation: Other than a waffle iron… this one is still up in the air unfortunately.

How It Works
The rotating glass orb brings in energy from the sun and concentrates it onto a small surface of tiny solar panels.
The ball lens concentrates and diffuses the light into one small focal point.
Stanford University’s associate director on energy and sustainable development Mark Thurber told the Wall Street Journal back in April, “the most intriguing renewable energy technologies are those that have the most room to improve.” In terms of solar, he said at the time, “perhaps concentrating solar power can make significant strides as we learn from the first large installations.”
The Future Of This Technology
André Broessel was a finalist in the World Technology Network Award 2013 with the globe’s design and afterward produced this latest version, called Betaray, which can concentrate diffuse light such as that from a cloudy day.
Broessel’s device is not yet available in the market. Overshooting the initial Rawlemon Solar Devices indigogo campaign of $120,000, the campaign has now exceeded $231,000. The money is earmarked for further testing and for patent applications he’s filed in five jurisdictions.

Des astronomes ont découvert une superstructure non-identifiée gravitant autour d'une étoile lointaine. Gigantesque amas de poussière, nuée de comètes ou superstructure extraterrestre? Les scientifiques mènent l'enquête.
Perdue entre les constellations du Cygne et de la Lyre, une mystérieuse étoile intrigue la communauté scientifique. KIC 8462852, de son petit nom, est devenue ces dernières années -et surtout ces derniers mois- le centre d'une attention toute particulière, rapporte, mardi, The Atlantic. Et pour cause, la variation de sa luminosité est aussi étrange que rare. Les scientifiques hésitent entre l'explication naturelle et... extraterrestre.
Invisible à l'oeil nu, KIC 8462852 -située à 1480 années-lumière de la Terre- a été observée par le télescope spatial Kepler, entre 2009 à 2013. Pour être exact, le télescope de la Nasa a regardé une partie de l'espace comprenant plus de 150 000 étoiles, à la recherche de toute variation de luminosité pouvant signaler le passage d'exoplanètespassant devant un astre.
Une énorme masse de matières orbitant autour de la planète
Les données issues de KIC 8462852 ont tapé dans l'oeil d'un groupe de "citoyens astronomes" de Planet Hunter [chasseur de planète, NDLR], un programme créé par l'université de Yale invitant tous les "citoyens scientifiques" à traquer les exoplanètes et à aider la Nasadans cette quête.

Car si les exoplanètes obstruent partiellement la lumière d'une étoile à des intervalles réguliers -correspondant à leur orbite- ce n'est pas le cas des variations de lumière de KIC 8462852: deux faibles baisses de luminosité en 2009, une autre en 2011 et une série d'autres variations en 2013. Un schéma qui suggère qu'une mégastructureorbite autour de la planète.
Collision d'astéroïdes, nuée de comètes...
"Nous n'avions jamais vu une étoile comme ça", s'enthousiasmeTabetha Boyajian, une astronome de l'université de Yale. "C'était vraiment étrange. Au début, on a pensé que nos données étaient fausses, ou dues un mauvais mouvement de Kepler, mais nous avons tout vérifié".
Tabetha Boyajian a donc publié un article qui expose toutes les pistes qui pourraient expliquer ce phénomène. Ces variations brutales et irrégulières de luminosité serraient-elles causées par des éclats dus à la collision de nombreux astéroïdes, voire d'un impact comparable à celui qui a créé notre Lune? Insuffisant pour créer de telles variations, estime-t-elle. Autre hypothèse: le passage d'une autre étoile à proximité -ce qui est effectivement le cas, rappelle Ciel et Espace- qui aurait pu traîner à sa suite une nuée de comètes, alors attirées par KIC 8462852. Mais ce serait une coïncidence extraordinaire (en terme de timing d'observation).
... Ou mégastructure extraterrestre?
Tabetha Boyajian, contactée par The Atlantic, reconnaît que son article n'explore que les causes "naturelles". Mais "d'autres scénarios sont possibles", glisse-t-elle. Jason Wright, un astronome de l'université de Penn également contacté par The Atlantic, doit publier son propre article, qui se basera sur la théorie des chercheurs du programme SETI -dont le but est de détecter les signaux d'une vie extraterrestre- selon laquelle nous pourrions détecter une civilisation "alien" grâce à de superstructures orbitant autour des planètes. Selon lui, le schéma des variations de lumière pourrait correspondre à "une nuée de mégastructures", peut être des "collecteurs de lumières" chargés de capter l'énergie de l'étoile, les fameuses hypothétiquessphère de Dyson?
"Quand Boyajian m'a montré les données, j'ai été fasciné. Les extraterrestres devraient toujours être la dernière hypothèse à envisager, mais ça, ça ressemble à ce qu'une civilisation pourrait construire", explique-t-il au journal américain. Tabetha Boyajian et Jason Wright travaillent maintenant avec Andrew Siemion le directeur du programme SETI à l'université de Berkeley. Ils aimeraient pointer un radiotélescope sur l'étoile, pour voir si des ondes radios sont émises depuis ce système sur des fréquences associées à l'activité technologique.
En attendant, les spéculations vont bon train sur les forums de passionnés et les réseaux sociaux. Les scientifiques auraient-il découvert une sphère de Dyson, ou, soyons fous, l'étoile noire de Star Wars? Aachaarya Naaraayana says, "That which can speed on earth, on water, through air, by its own power, like a bird, is a "Vimana."
Shankha says, "Experts in the science of aeronautics say, "That which can fly through air from one place to another is a Vimana"
And Vishwambhara says, "Experts say that which can fly through air from one country to another country, from one island to another island, and from one world to another world, is a "Vimana"."
Those are the definitions of the mysterious aircraft called the "Vimana," ancient flying devices that were known to humans around 6000 years ago.
Bodhaananda: Scientists say that there are 32 secrets of the working of the Vimana. A pilot should acquaint himself thoroughly with them before he can be deemed competent to handle the aeroplane.
Those secrets are given in "Rahasya-Lahari" and other works, by Lalla and other masters, and are described thus:
"The pilot should have had training in maantrica and taantrica, kritaka and antaraalaka, goodha or hidden, drishya and adrishya or seen and unseen, paroksha and aparoksha, contraction and expansion, changing shape, look frightening, look pleasing, become luminous or enveloped in darkness, deluge or pralaya, vimukha, taara, stun by thunderous din, jump, move zig-zag like serpent, chaapala, face all sides, hear distant sounds, take pictures, know enemy manoeuvres, know direction of enemy approach, stabdhaka or paralyse, and karshana or exercise magnetic pull."
The secrets which every Vimana pilot must learn are explained by Siddhanaatha:
1.Maantrika; As prescribed in "Mantraadhikaara," by invoking the mantras of Chhinnamasta, Bhairavee, Veginee, Siddhaamba, acquire the powers of ghutikaa, paadukaa, visible and invisible and other mantraas with potent herbs and efficacious oils, and Bhuvaneswaree Mantra which confers spiritual and mesmeric powers, to construct aeroplanes, which don't break cannot be cut, cannot be burnt, and cannot be destroyed.
2.Taantrika: By acquiring Mahaamaaya, Shambara, and other taantric powers, to endow the plane with those powers.
3.Kritaka: By study of architects like Vishwakarma, Chhaayaaparusha, Mann, Maya and others, to construct aeroplanes of various patterns.
4.Antaraala: In the wind-swept atmospheric region of the sky, in the clash at the borders of mighty currents, an inadvertent plane is likely to be smashed to pieces. But by getting warned of the approach of such danger spots, the plane could be halted and steered with care.
5.Goodha: As explained in 'Vaayutatva-Prakarana', by harnessing the powers, Yaasaa, Viyaasaa, Prayaasaa in the 8th atmospheric layer covering the earth, to attract the dark content of the solar ray, and use it to hide the Vimana from the enemy.
6.Drishya: By collision of the electric power and wind power in the atmosphere, a glow is created, whose reflection is to be caught in the Vishwa-Kriyaa-darapana or mirror at the front of the Vimana, and by its manipulation produce a Maaya-Vimana or camouflaged Vimana.
7.Adrishya: According to "Shaktitantra", by means of the Vynarathya Vikarana and other powers in the heart centre of the solar mass, attract the force of the ethereal flow in the sky, and mingle it with the balaahaavikarana shakti in the aerial globe, producing thereby a white cover, which will make the Vimana invisible.
8.Paroksha: According to "Meghotpatthi-prakarana," or the science of the birth of clouds, by entering the second of the summer cloud layers, and attracting the power therein with the shaktyaakarshana darpana or force-attraction mirror in the Vimana, and applying it to the parivesha or halo of the Vimana, a paralysing force is generated, and opposing Vimanas are paralysed and put out of action.
9.Aparoksha: According to 'Shakti-tantra,' by projection of the Rohinee beam of light, things in front of the Vimana are made visible.
10.Sankocha, or Contraction: As prescribed in the Yantraangopasamhaara section, when the Vimana is flying at speed with fully extended wings, and there is danger ahead, turning the 7th switch in the Vimana, its parts can be made to contract.
11.Vistrita: According to 'Akaashatantra', when the Vim ana is in the central air flood in the third and first regions of the sky, by turning the switch in the 11th section of plane, it becomes expanded suitably according to "Vaalmeeki Ganita."
12.Viroopa Karana: As stated in "Dhooma Prakarana", by producing the 32nd kind of smoke through the mechanism, and charging it with the light of the heat waves in the sky, and projecting it through the padmaka chakra tube to the bhyravee oil-smeared Vyroopya-darpana at the top of the Vimana, and whirling with 132nd type of speed, a very fierce and terrifying shape of the Vimana will emerge, causing utter fright to onlookers.
13.Roopaantara: As stated in "Tylaprakarana," by preparing griddhrajihwaa, kumbhinee, and kaakajangha oils and anointing the distorting mirror in the Vimana with them, applying to it the 19th kind of smoker and charging with the kuntinee shakti in the Vimana, shapes like lion, tiger, rhinoceros, serpent, mountain, river will appear and amaze observers and confuse them.
14.Suroopa: By attracting the 13 kinds of Karaka force mentioned in "Karaka prakarana" applying snow-surcharged air and projecting it through the air conveying tube to the pushpinee-pinjula mirrors in the front right side of the Vimana, and focusing on it the suragha beam, a heavenly damsel bedecked with flowers and jewels will appear to onlookers of the Vimana.
15.Jyotirbhaava: As stated in "Amshubodhinee," out of Samgnaana and other 16 digits of the solar glow, by attracting the 12th to the 16th digits and focusing them on the air force in the Mayookha section in the fourth pathway in the sky, and similarly by attracting the force of the etherial glow and mingling it with the glow in the 7th layer of air mass, and then by projecting both these forces through the 5 tubes in the Vimana on to the section of the guhaa-garbha mirror, a rich glow like the morning glow of the sun will be produced.
16.Tamomaya: As described in "Darpana Prakarana," by means of the dark force mirror, capture the force of darkness, pass it through the Thamo-Yantra in the north-west side of the Vimana, and by turning a switch produce at noon-day the utter darkness of the night of the new-moon.
17.Pralaya: As described in the magic book of destruction, attract the 5 kinds of smoke through the tube of the contracting machine in the front part of the Vimana, and merge it in the cloud-smoke mentioned in "Shadgarbha Viveka", and pushing it by electric force through the five-limbed aerial tube, destroy everything as in a cataclysm.
18.Vimukha: As mentioned in "Rig-hridaya", by projecting the force of Kubera, Vimukha and Vyshawaanara poison powder through the third tube of the roudree mirror and turning the switch of the air mechanism, produce insensibility and coma.
19.Taara: By mixing with etherial force 10 parts of air forte, 7 parts of water force, and 16 parts of solar glow, and projecting it by means of the star-faced mirror through the frontal tube of the Vimana; the appearance of a star-spangled sky is created.
20.Mahaashabda Vimohana: By concentrating the air force in the seven tubes of the Vimana, and turning the switch, produce, as stated in "Shabda prakaash ikaa" a crescendo of thunderous din, which stuns people, and makes them quake with fear and become insensible.
21.Langhana: As stated in "Vaayu tattva prakarana" When crossing from one air stream into another, the Vimana faces the baadaba glow of the sun and catches fire. In order to prevent that, the electric force and air force in the Vimana should be conjoined and centred in the life-centre of the Vimana, and by turning the switch, the Vimana will leap into safety.
22.Saarpa-Gamana: By attracting the dandavaktra and other seven forces of air, and joining with solar rays, passing it through the zig-zagging centre of the Vimana, and turning the switch, the Vimana will have a zigzagging motion like a serpent.
23.Chaapala: On sighting an enemy plane, by turning the switch in the force centre in the middle section of the Vimana, a 4087 revolutions an hour atmospheric wave speed will be generated, and shake up the enemy plane.
24.Sarvatomukha: When a formation of enemy planes comes to attack one's Vimana, by turning the switch at the crown of the Vimana, make it revolve with agility and face all sides.
25.Parashabda Graahaka: As explained in "Sowdaaminee kalaa" or science of electronics, by means of the sound capturing yantra in the Vimana, to hear the talks and sounds in enemy planes flying in the sky.
26.Roopaakarshana: By means of the photographic yantra in the Vimana to obtain a television view of things inside an enemy plane.
27.Kriyaagrahana: By turning the key at the bottom of the Vimana, a white cloth is made to appear. By electrifying the three acids in the north-east part of the Vimana, and subjecting them to the 7 kinds of solar rays, and passing the resultant force into the tube of the Thrisheersha mirror and making the cloth screen face the mirror, and switching on the upper key, all the activities going on down below on the ground, will be projected on the screen.
28.Dikpradarshana: Turning the key at the front of the Vimana the dishaampati yantra will show the direction from which the enemy plane is approaching.
29.Aakaashaakaara: According to "Aakaasha-tantra", by mixing black mica solution with neem and bhoonaaga decoctions and smearing the solution on the outer body of the Vimana made of mica plates, and exposing to solar rays, the plane will look like the sky and become indistinguishable.
30.Jalada roopa: Mixing pomegranate juice, bilva or bael oil, copper-salt, kitchen smoke, granthika or gugul liquid, mustard powder , and fish scale decoctions, and adding sea-shell and rock-salt powder, and collecting smoke of the same solution and spreading it with solar heat enveloping the cover, the Vimana will have the appearance of a cloud.
31.Stabdhaka: By projecting apasmaara poison-fume smoke through the tube on the north side on the Vimana, and discharging it with stambhana-yantra, people in enemy planes will be made unconscious.
32.Karshana: When enemy planes come in strength to destroy one's Vimana, by setting aflame the Jwaalinee shakit in the Vyshwaanara-naala or pipe located at the navel of the plane, and switching the keys of the two wheels to 87 degrees of heat, the burning shakti will envelope the enemy plane and destroy it.
These are the 32 rahasyaas or secrets which should be known by pilots according to Siddhanaatha.

ANCIENT ANTARCTICA WAS AS WARM AS TODAY’S CALIFORNIA
According to scientists using a new way to measure past temperatures, parts of the ancient continent were as warm as California’s coast today. The new measurements could help to improve climate models used for predicting future climate, as well as help scientists to better understand Antarctica’s past. The findings were published the week of April 21 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

By measuring concentrations of rare isotopes in ancient fossil shells, the scientists found that temperatures in parts of Antarctica reached as high as 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) during the Eocene, with parts of the southern Pacific Ocean reaching 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius), – similar to the average annual temperature off the coast of California today.
Today Antarctica is consistently one of the coldest places on Earth, but it wasn’t always that way.
The average annual South Pacific sea temperature near Antarctica is about 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius), a far cry from the milder climate of ancient times.
“By measuring past temperatures in different parts of Antarctica, this study gives us a clearer perspective of just how warm Antarctica was when the Earth’s atmosphere contained much more CO2 than it does today,” researchers told Science Daily.The continent remained warm even after the extinction of the dinosaurs, an era known as the Eocene (40-50 million years ago).
And remarkably, forests were still there as early as 12 million years ago. It’s hard to imagine, but Antarctica was ice-free and full of lush forests.
In 1938, the Third Reich claimed New Swabia in Antarctica. The vessel called “Schwabenland” just before the outbreak of WWII, headed into western Antarctica.
This was done under the auspices of “securing Germany’s whaling industry.”
This seemed feasible, given the fact that much could be manufactured from whales including nitroglycerin, margarine, and mechanical lubricants.
It was, however, their goal to build a massive subterranean base there for operations named “base 211″, but the war broke out and not much else information has been released on the subject.
Although there is a known record of Nazi activity around Antarctica before May 1945 when Germany surrendered to the Allies, events after that date suggested something was happening that did not form a part of recognized world history.
Karl Donitz (1891–1980) had led the German U-Boat fleet from the 31st January 1943 until the end of World War II. He also has the distinction of briefly becoming head of the German state for 20 days after Hitler’s supposed death until his own capture by the Allies on 23rd May 1945.
His contribution to the mystery of post-war Antarctic activity came in a statement he made in 1943 when he declared that the German submarine fleet had rebuilt “in another part of the world a Shangri-La land – an impregnable fortress.”
Could he have been referring to the alleged base in Antarctica? Certainly there are records of continued German naval activity in the area after the war had apparently ended.
A book published in 1978, called Secret Nazi Polar Expeditions, relates how the Germans had taken a ship with a small airplane on it that they launched from their ship after reaching the ice near Antarctica.
It flew over the ice to Antarctica, presumably on a scouting flight, and then back to the ship.
But the book didn’t say anything about what it supposedly found or what the Nazi party elite believed was an entrance to the inner (hollow) earth.
An interesting document has recently surfaced obtained by a Joe Watson of Talkeetna, Alaska.
Mr. Watson claims it is a copy of a letter written on 2 March 1985 in the German language from a German submarine crewman who was on board. In it is given certain coordinates for their mission, which apparently was to travel to the center of the earth.
Their submarine was called U-209 under Captain Heinrich Brodda. The image below is a copy of the original hand-written letter from Karl Unger, crew member of the German U-209, as well as an English translation (click to enlarge).
In it Karl confirmed that the earth was indeed hollow and that they had successfully reached the inner inhabited earth in the German U-209 submarine after World War II had destroyed Germany.
The letter was sent to his friend here on the surface world who gave a copy of it to a Mr. Woodard, who gave a copy to Joe Watson. Karl had sent the letter from the hollow earth through a German colony in Brazil that had found a cavern that reaches to the hollow earth many years previous. This German colony in Brazil is documented in Genesis For a New Age, having supposedly discovered the cavern entrance back in the 1500’s.
When one does a search at the German archive website looking for information on the missing U-209 German submarine, it shows that the submarine was indeed reported missing. On July 5, 1943 was it’s last reported position between Greenland and Iceland at coordinates 52°00’N-38°00’W. The report said the Commander of the submarine was Heinrich Brodda.
In addition, documents obtained by the soviets at the close of WW2 recently surfaced which shows a 1944 map from the Third Reich detailing not only the direct passageway used by German U-boats to access this subterranean domain, but also a complete map of both hemispheres of the inner realm of Agharta, the mythical name of the inhabited subterranean world (click image to enlarge).
If that seems too unbelievable, compare with those maps, this map done by the famed Tyrolean cartographer and artist Heinrich C. Berann for the National Geographic Society beginning in 1966.
The map to the left clearly shows the continent of Antarctica without its cover of ice.
The intriguing detail here is that there are underwater passageways that run nearly the entire length of the continent and seem to converge at the exact location identified as the opening into the deep inner or subterranean earth.

So the story of the Third Reich’s advanced technology programs does not end with the collapse of the Third Reich itself.

The object very closely resembles the Petit Rechain triangle (further down page), also part of the Belgium wave. The triangles were reported by hundreds of witnesses during the wave over Belgium
1990 - Petit Rechain, Belgium. One of the most famous UFO pictures ever taken. The photographer, to my knowledge, still remains unnamed.
Taken on an April night during a well known "wave," the photo very clearly shows a triangle-shaped object with lights. One of the best proofs of UFOs we have. Original photo was too dark to show object outline, and had to be lightened.
1997 - Phoenix, Arizona. One of the most publicized UFO events in history.
First observed in a hexagram pattern at about 7:30 PM over the Superstition Mountains area east of Phoenix, the characteristic 8+1 formation of amber orbs was next seen in two separate arc patterns with "trailing lights" over the Gila River.
They were spotted about 9:50 and again at 10:00 at the southern edge of Phoenix, were they were seen by thousands and videotaped by a handful who had camcorders close enough at hand to catch the fleeting minutes of their displays.
2002 - Glasgow, Scotland. The photographer or hoaxer said he took the picture at about 10:00 P.M. in Glasgow, Ayrshire, Scotland.
He said: "At around 10 PM, 2 months ago, I was looking out my window (I was actually looking for my cat that had ran out the door) when I saw this strange thing in the sky. As soon as I saw it I just grabbed my digital camera and took a picture.
"After I took the picture I turned round to give the camera to my girlfriend, looked back and it was gone.There was no noise just total silence.
P.S. The pic isn't great, my hands were a bit shaky."
2004 - Long Island New York - April, 23 - This very impressive image of lights was taken by a lady who is identified only as Marjorie. Early morning, she took her camera and captured some 25 photos of the sky that day, using a welder's glass to keep her eyes from the sun's harm.
They were taken with a JVC digital camera. The avid photographer was shocked to see the object in the sky.

Witness/Photographer Statement: I was driving westward on Chinden Blvd. It was around 8:15 AM. To my north-west was this MASSIVE bell-shaped object hovering in the sky.
It just stayed there. In scale, it appeared to be larger than a hot air balloon.
I tried asking others about the sighting; they just guessed it may have been a hot air balloon. I did not have my pro-camera so I used my phone to click a few pictures.
You may not see massive UFO exhibits at your local science museum, but there’s no dearth of saucer stories infesting my email. Every day I receive several reports of alien sightings, extraterrestrial plans for Earth, and agitated screeds about the reluctance of scientists to take the whole subject seriously. Plenty of people think they have convincing evidence for other-worldly visitors, and they want me to know.
Allow me to first note that this is a phenomenon worthy of attention. If aliens are really hanging out in our ‘hood, it’s hard to imagine any other fact more worthy of study. If not, then why does such a large fraction of the populace insist on believing they’re here?
Note that few, if any, of these emails are penned by hoaxers. The correspondents are sincere, and many simply wish to help us in our search for evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence. Others are ticked off, usually at me.
It’s a fire hose of correspondence, but stepping back a bit from the massive electronic corpus, it strikes me that virtually all of it falls into one of four categories. For the curious and interested, I list these subject areas below, together with a modestly elaborated description of each.
Sightings.
c. 1985 - Nuzidath, Israel. This picture was taken in the village of Nuzidath and published by Gil Bar aided by Adrian Dvir's technical equipment.
This picture is a difficult one to draw any type of conclusion from. Are we looking at a bright light of a domed top with windows below, or is it something else?
The majority of my UFO diet consists of reports describing suspected encounters. This is not surprising, as there are thousands of sightings annually. The emailer has seen something unusual in the sky that he interprets as probable evidence of alien presence. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say much about these stories. After all, I wasn’t there.
I much prefer the photos and videos that are sometimes offered. The UFOs generally appear small, but contrary to frequent assumption, this doesn’t prove that they’re at high altitude moving at high speed (consider bugs and birds).
Many of the images are artifacts of photography. One gentleman sent me dozens of nighttime photos of city streets, featuring big, blobby and bright UFOs. But these luminous aliens only showed themselves when there was a street lamp in the shot. I suggested that they were internal reflections in the camera lens, and not alien ships behaving like moths. He disagreed...
Suggestions.
1975 - Saas-Fe, Switzerland. July 26. Members of a hunting party spotted this craft hovering low near the ground. It moved almost silently through the surrounding trees.
Fortunately, one member was able to snap this photograph of the object. I wish we had a better photograph of this one, it is a traditional disc shape with a top. Still, for 1975 this is an excellent piece of history.
Some people just want to feed the suggestion box. They’ve got information on how we can do our job better, such as telling us to swing our antennas in the direction of a particular star system where they’re sure aliens are awaiting discovery. A favorite suggested target is the star system Zeta Reticuli, a locale made popular by the famous UFO case of Betty and Barney Hill. As it happens, we have examined Zeta Reticuli with our antennas — not because of Betty and Barney, but because it’s close (39 light-years). We didn’t hear any Reticulans.
Other mails ask why we still look for radio signals when advanced aliens would surely communicate via hyperdimensional physics. Whatever that is. Others urge us to tune our receivers to the “frequency of DNA.” Whatever that is.
Strange stuff.

The UFO is following a B-57 twin jet. The UFO was not discovered until the photograph was developed. An excellent photo for that time period.
Why are we wasting time hunting for signals, say some correspondents, when extraterrestrials have left calling cards all over the planet? Virtually any pointed edifice is considered a candidate for alien engineering. After all, how could the Egyptians or Mayans have possibly stacked up stone blocks into pyramids? The Washington Monument — also pointy — is not considered an alien artifact as it was built by Americans who, of course, can manage this sort of project without extraterrestrial contractors.
Another story I get several times a month is that Homo sapiens is a deliberate creation of other-worldly beings. We’re E.T.’s science fair project. The fact that our DNA is 98 percent the same as that of chimps implies that either the aliens must have also created our simian pals, or they were content to make us only very slightly better than what Nature had already served up.
A final category of strange stuff includes the correspondents who repeatedly claim that they are aliens. I wonder if they enjoy equal protection under the law.
Slams.
1951 - Lubbock, Texas - The famous photographs from the "Lubbock lights" in Texas, 31 August 1951. Years later, ignoring all testimonies and evidences, skeptics stated that these objects were... birds.
This most ridiculous explanation was typical of how early UFO photos were often explained away. Carl Hart Jr. an 18-year-old student took this famous picture with his Kodak camera.
There were at least 100 witnesses who saw the objects. This is one of the classics of Ufology.
While the above correspondence is interesting, it’s not particularly unnerving. That cannot be said for those folks who like to excoriate me for being skeptical about alien visitation. They generally argue that the only reasons that few scientists give much credence to the visitation idea are these: (1) The government is keeping all the good evidence under wraps, and (2) Scientists are knee-jerk debunkers, unwilling to take any of this stuff seriously.
It’s hard to believe that the aliens have cleverly arranged things so that only governments can find convincing evidence of their presence. And, of course, if you accept that premise, it follows that all the UFO reports by ordinary citizens are inadequate to establish the truth of aliens-on-Earth (a bummer of a message for organizations like MUFON).
As for the idea that scientists are either dumb or deliberately mum — well hey, that’s a slur both silly and personally wounding.
Imagine if Bigfoot enthusiasts blamed their failure to convince zoologists of the existence of these elusive beasts on (1) the state of Washington, which was deliberately covering up the really good evidence, and (2) forest rangers, who were derelict in their duty because they don’t relentlessly investigate these hirsute hominids. Would such arguments convince you that Bigfoot was afoot?
The fact is, if you’re certain that our planet is hosting alien visitors, the way to gain acceptance for your point of view is to prove it, not insist that the problem lies with third parties. The blame game is a cop-out.

Opportunity kreeg opdracht een zeer steile helling te beklimmen, maar na drie pogingen bleek dat echt te veel gevraagd.
Het leek NASA wel een goed idee: Opportunity opdracht geven om de steilste helling die ooit door een Marsrover is bedwongen, te beklimmen. Dat het niet gemakkelijk zou worden, wist de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie ook wel. Het gevaar bestond dat de oude Marsrover weg zou slippen. Om dat te voorkomen, kreeg de rover opdracht om zijn zes wielen veel vaker te laten roteren dan normaliter voor het afleggen van een dergelijke afstand nodig is.
De rover ondernam twee pogingen, maar zonder resultaat. NASA besloot het nog één keer te proberen. Maar hoewel de wielen vaak genoeg draaiden om de rover twintig meter verder te helpen, bleek deze – door het slippen – niet veel verder te komen dan 9 centimeter. En daarmee kwam de rover net iets te kort. Na deze drie pogingen besloot NASA om het idee uit het hoofd te zetten en de rover toch maar een andere opdracht te geven.
Hoewel Opportunity er niet in geslaagd is om zijn doel te bereiken, is alle moeite niet helemaal voor niets geweest. Doordat de rover tijdens zijn poging om de helling te bedwingen vrij schuin stond, is wat stof en zand van zijn zonnepanelen gegleden (zie afbeelding hieronder).

Dat stellen onderzoekers in een nieuw paper. Het scenario zou de baan van deze planeet – waarvan het bestaan nog onbewezen is – kunnen verklaren.
Begin dit jaar stelden onderzoekers overtuigend bewijs te hebben gevonden dat ons zonnestelsel niet acht, maar negen planeten telt. De negende planeet zou zo’n tien keer groter zijn dan de aarde en op grote afstand rond onze zon cirkelen.
Oorsprong Het bestaan van de planeet is nog niet bewezen: de onderzoekers leiden het bestaan van de planeet af uit de baan van enkele Kuipergordelobjecten en hebben de planeet nog niet direct waargenomen. Toch houdt de planeet de gemoederen flink bezig. Zo wordt er al gespeculeerd dat deze in het verleden verantwoordelijk is geweest voor massa-extincties op aarde. En in een nieuw paper buigen onderzoekers zich nu over de oorsprong van deze planeet en dan met name over de vraag of het wellicht mogelijk is dat onze zon deze ‘gestolen’ heeft van een andere ster.
Ontmoeting met een andere ster Er zijn aanwijzingen dat onze zon ontstaan is in een groot cluster bestaande uit enkele duizenden sterren. En het is niet ondenkbaar dat sterren in dat cluster soms vrij dicht bij elkaar kwamen en planeten die rond die sterren cirkelden als het ware ‘overstapten’ van het ene op het andere systeem. Kan de zon zo aan planeet X zijn gekomen? De onderzoekers zochten het met behulp van simulaties uit.
Twee procent “We tonen aan dat het inderdaad mogelijk is dat de zon zo’n planeet van een andere ster heeft gevangen,” zo schrijven de onderzoekers in hun paper. Of dat ook daadwerkelijk gebeurd is, kunnen de onderzoekers in dit stadium niet bewijzen. Daarvoor zullen we de planeet eerst moeten spotten. De kans dat planeet X daadwerkelijk een exoplaneet is, is naar schatting 0,01 tot 2 procent.
Tot op heden zijn er naast het planeet X-is-stiekem-een-exoplaneet-scenario nog een aantal scenario’s die wellicht kunnen verklaren hoe planeet X in zijn vermoedelijke baan is beland. Zo kan het zomaar zijn dat de planeet simpelweg in deze baan geboren is. Of dat deze oorspronkelijk veel dichter bij de zon stond, maar door andere planeten is weggeschopt.

The Milky Way's youngest supernova remnant, called G1.9+0.3, was likely caused by the merging of two dense cores left over from dying stars.

The Milky Way's youngest supernova — an explosion of a star that renders it extremely bright — was probably caused by the collision of two ultradense remnants of stars, new research suggests. The epic blast, shrouded in dust, also likely happened even more recently than scientists thought.
The supernova remnant was identified by radio telescope in 1984, and astronomers set out to fit X-ray and radio data to a model that could help reveal what instigated the explosion.
Researchers tracked down the explosion's cause by measuring how the supernova remnant brightened over time, and their technique could be used to better understand the type of supernova in general, called Type Ia — a cosmic blast essential to measuring the universe's expansion. Such supernovas can briefly shine brighter than the galaxies in which they reside. [Supernovas: Amazing Star Explosion Images]
"Astronomers use Type Ia supernovas as distance markers across the universe, which helped us discover that its expansion was accelerating," Sayan Chakraborti, an astrophysicist at Harvard University and lead author of the new study, said in a statement. "If there are any differences in how these supernovas explode and the amount of light they produce, that could have an impact on our understanding of this expansion."
"Astronomers use Type Ia supernovas as distance markers across the universe, which helped us discover that its expansion was accelerating," Sayan Chakraborti, an astrophysicist at Harvard University and lead author of the new study, said in a statement. The supernova remnant in question, called G1.9+0.3, is the echo of a cosmic explosion whose light would have hit Earth about 110 years ago, the new research suggests, but its dusty home in the constellation Sagittarius blocked its light from 19th century astronomers.
The new research incorporated data from the orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Jansky Very Large Array, a radio telescope in New Mexico. Both observatories focus on wavelengths of light that can pierce the dense cloud of dust around the supernova remnant. The researchers examined how the supernova remnant was interacting with the gas and dust around it, and noticed an increase in radiation over time.
Researchers classify Type Ia supernovas as explosions caused by white dwarfs, the superdense cores left behind when stars run out of fuel. But they aren't sure exactly why the white dwarfs explode. Potentially, the white dwarf could have either sucked in too much material from a companion star in its orbit, or two white dwarfs could have slammed together and merged, NASA officials said in a statement.
According to the Harvard team's new model, a supernova remnant's brightening over time suggests that it was formed the second way, through a white dwarf merger. They also concluded that scientists were seeing the blast 110 years after it happened, rather than 150.
"We observed that the X-ray and radio brightness increased with time, so the data point strongly to a collision between two white dwarfs as being the trigger for the supernova explosion in G1.9+0.3," study co-author Francesca Childs, also at Harvard, said in the statement.
The researchers can use their model to figure out the triggers of other Type Ia supernovas, which are thought to let out a consistent amount of light at their peaks. That consistency lets researchers calculate the distance to the galaxies they reside in, based on their brightness. Therefore, more information about how they form, which could affect the amount of light they put out, means researchers may need to recalculate some of the distances found based on the explosions.

"It is important to identify the trigger mechanism for Type Ia supernovas, because if there is more than one cause, then the contribution from each may change over time," Alicia Soderberg, an astronomer at Harvard and a study co-author, said in the statement. "This means astronomers might have to recalibrate some of the ways we use them as 'standard candles' in cosmology."
Why life is constrained to be about the sizes we see on Earth.

The size of things in our universe runs all the way from the tiny 10-19 meter scale that characterizes quark interactions, to the cosmic horizon 1026 meters away. In these 45 possible orders of magnitude, life, as far as we know it, is confined to a relatively tiny bracket of just over nine orders of magnitude, roughly in the middle of the universal range: Bacteria and viruses can measure less than a micron, or 10-6 meters, and the height of the largest trees reaches roughly 100 meters. The honey fungus that lives under the Blue Mountains in Oregon, and is arguably a single living organism, is about 4 kilometers across. When it comes to known sentient life, the range in scale is even smaller, at about three orders of magnitude.
Could things be any different?
Progress in the theory of computation suggests that sentience and intelligence likely require quadrillions of primitive “circuit” elements. Given that our brains are composed of neurons, which are themselves, in essence, specialized cooperative single-cell organisms, we can conclude that biological computers need to be about the physical size of our own brains in order to exhibit the capabilities that we have.

We can imagine building neurons that are smaller than our own, in artificially intelligent systems. Electronic circuit elements, for example, are now substantially smaller than neurons. But they are also simpler in their behavior, and require a superstructure of support (energy, cooling, intercommunication) that takes up a substantial volume. It’s likely that the first true artificial intelligences will occupy volumes that are not so different from the size of our own bodies, despite being based on fundamentally different materials and architectures, again suggesting that there is something special about the meter scale.
If both our brains and our neurons were 10 times bigger, we’d have 10 times fewer thoughts during our lifetimes.
What about on the supersize end of the spectrum? William S. Burroughs, in his novel The Ticket That Exploded, imagined that beneath a planetary surface, lies “a vast mineral consciousness near absolute zero thinking in slow formations of crystal.” The astronomer Fred Hoyle wrote dramatically and convincingly of a sentient hyper-intelligent “Black Cloud,” comparable to Earth-sun distance. His idea presaged the concept of Dyson spheres, massive structures that completely surround a star and capture most of its energy. It is also supported by calculations that my colleague Fred Adams and I are performing, that indicate that the most effective information-processing structures in the current-day galaxy might be catalyzed within the sooty winds ejected by dying red giant stars. For a few tens of thousands of years, dust-shrouded red giants provide enough energy, a large enough entropy gradient, and enough raw material to potentially out-compute the biospheres of a billion Earth-like planets.
How big could life forms like these become? Interesting thoughts require not only a complex brain, but also sufficient time for formulation. The speed of neural transmissions is about 300 kilometers per hour, implying that the signal crossing time in a human brain is about 1 millisecond. A human lifetime, then, comprises 2 trillion message-crossing times (and each crossing time is effectively amplified by rich, massively parallelized computational structuring). If both our brains and our neurons were 10 times bigger, and our lifespans and neural signaling speeds were unchanged, we’d have 10 times fewer thoughts during our lifetimes.
If our brains grew enormously to say, the size of our solar system, and featured speed-of-light signaling, the same number of message crossings would require more than the entire current age of the universe, leaving no time for evolution to work its course. If a brain were as big as our galaxy, the problem would become even more severe. From the moment of its formation, there has been time for only 10,000 or so messages to travel from one side of our galaxy to the other. We can argue, then, that, it is difficult to imagine any life-like entities with complexity rivaling the human brain that occupy scales larger than the stellar size scale. Were they to exist, they wouldn’t yet have had sufficient time to actually do anything.
Remarkably, the constraints of environment on physical bodies also constrain life to be roughly the same size that intelligence requires. The height of the tallest redwoods is limited by their inability to pump water more than 100 meters into the sky, a limit set by a combination of the force of gravity on the Earth (which pulls the water down) and transpiration, water adhesion, and surface tension in the plant xylem (which pushes it up).1 If we suppose that the force of gravity and atmospheric pressures of most habitable planets will be within a factor of 10 of Earth’s, we will be left within a couple orders of magnitude of the same maximum limit.
If we also assume that most life will be bound to a planet, moon, or asteroid, then gravity also sets a natural scale. As the planet gets bigger, and its gravity gets stronger, the force on the bones (or whatever the equivalent might be) of some hypothetical animal increases—something argued as far back as the late 1600s, by Christiaan Huygens. That animal would therefore need to increase the cross section of its bones to handle the greater force, which increases as the square of the animal size. These bodybuilding efforts however, would ultimately be self-defeating because mass rises as body size cubed. In general, the maximum mass of mobile terrestrial organisms decreases roughly linearly with the increasing strength of gravity. Conversely, a planet with 10 times lower gravity than Earth’s could potentially have animals that are 10 times bigger.

But there’s a limit to how small a planet can get—if it’s too small (smaller than about one-tenth of Earth’s mass), it won’t be able to gravitationally attract and keep its atmosphere. We’re again limited to within a factor of 10 or so of the sizes we see on Earth.
Life also needs to be cooled. Computer chip designers continually face the challenges inherent to removing the heat generated by computation. Living things have the same problem: Large animals have a high ratio of volume to surface area, or “skin.” Since the skin is what’s responsible for cooling the animal, and the volumes are where all the heat is produced, big animals are less efficient at cooling themselves off. As was first pointed out in the 1930s by Max Kleiber, the metabolic rate per kilogram of Earth’s animals decreases in proportion to the mass of the animal raised to the power of 0.25.2 Indeed, if this heating rate didn’t decrease, large animals would literally cook themselves (as recently and vividly illustrated by Aatish Batia and Robert Krulwich). Assuming that the minimum observed whole-body metabolic rate of one-trillionth of a watt per nanogram is necessary for a mammal to function,3 we arrive a maximum thermally limited organism size of just over 1 million kilograms, or somewhat larger than a blue whale, Earth’s all-time record-setting animal in terms of size.
One could, in principle, imagine “creatures” that are far larger. If we draw on Landauer’s principle describing the minimum energy for computation, and if we assume that the energy resources of an ultra-massive, ultra-slothful, multi-cellular organism are devoted only to slowly reproducing its cells, we find that problems of mechanical support outstrip heat transport as the ultimate limiting factor to growth. At these scales, though, it becomes unclear what such a creature would do, or how it might have evolved.
The classic Charles and Ray Eames short film Powers of Ten was made nearly four decades ago, but its influence has been profound. It can be connected, for example, to the rise to order-of-magnitude estimation as a standard aspect of the scientific curriculum, and it is the direct inspiration for the design of software mapping applications such as Google Earth.
The impact of Powers of Ten is heightened by the startling symmetry between the narrative of the inward sweep (in which the viewer descends inward in scale from a picnic on the Chicago lakefront to the sub-nuclear scale) and the arc of the outward sweep (in which the view pulls increasingly rapidly away to set the Earth and its contents into the grand scale of the Cosmos).
Were we just lucky, as sentient beings, to be able to sweep out in both directions, and examine the scales of the universe both large and small? Probably not.

I live in New Mexico, a state famous for its landscapes, national laboratories exploring state-of-the-art technology and UFOs. That’s right, unidentified flying objects, little green space aliens and flying saucers — the whole enchilada, as we say in the land of enchantment. This affinity for extraterrestrials dates back to the late 1940s when the Roswell incident — a flying saucer crash, dead aliens, a government cover-up and more — thrust New Mexico into the national limelight. Roswell still celebrates the event with an annual UFO festival, which attracts people from around the globe.
My UFO awareness stems from my engineering consulting work. I have a couple of static VAR compensator projects under construction in southeastern New Mexico, so I travel through Roswell every couple of months on my way to check on their progress. It was natural for me to think of flying saucers when an old utility friend told me UFO history had been made in New Mexico. My imagination again jumped to flying saucers while he was talking about the commercialized unmanned flying object.
If only we had the equivalent of CliffsNotes for all the acronyms we use, life would be simpler. We would know a UFO is not a flying saucer and terms like UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), UAS (unmanned aircraft system), sUAS (small unmanned aircraft system), RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) and DRTD (drones and robotics for transmission and distribution) would be less confusing. The term “drone” covers all of them, but there is a lot of pushback from the UAS suppliers. One friend told me his company preferred UAV; after all, drone is what a politician does when talking. Good point.
Getting back to my friend’s story, he was excited about the latest developments in drone usage. Several years ago, his utility looked into the use of drones on transmission lines. However, like so many other potential users, it decided to wait until regulators, government agencies and the marketplace all got on the same page — especially when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decreed the United States was a nationwide no-fly zone for commercial drones in 2007.
Fortunately, proponents of drone technology took the FAA to court, and it was ruled the FAA did not have the authority to make that decree. Now the FAA has to reconsider its no-fly edict and, as a result, has started issuing exceptions permitting specific commercial drone activities, but it is a slow process.
BVLOS Takes Flight
Industrywise, we have many proponents out there who saw the real advantages UAVs offered utilities. These folks kept kicking at that cactus (that is, regulatory) and the bureaucracy’s flexibility is increasing. This brings us back to the UFO story. The FAA issues special drone permits, but they only allow for line-of-sight flights. To be useful for tasks like transmission line surveying or maintenance inspections, drones must be allowed to fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). There is no way an operator can walk or drive a right-of-way (ROW) and keep within visual range of a drone.
That is why the Oct. 25, 2015, New Mexico drone flight became such a historical event and excited my utility friend. It was the first FAA-sanctioned commercial UAV flight using BVLOS technology to take place inside the 48 contiguous states. Previously, the only FAA-sanctioned BVLOS UAV flight testing took place in remote Arctic regions off the coast of Alaska. The New Mexico BVLOS flight brought UAV technology a step closer to applications needed by the power industry.
The flight was part of the FAA’s Pathfinder program. BNSF Railway provided the infrastructure to inspect, while Insitu, a subsidiary of the Boeing Co., provided the drone and the FAA certification to fly it. Insitu used a small ScanEagle surveillance UAV to provide real-time video of a 64-mile survey of a 132-mile section of BNSF railroad track near Vaughn, New Mexico. The 35-pound aircraft flew about 1,000 feet above the railroad track at speeds of approximately 90 mph. It was equipped with a transponder to transmit its location to local air traffic control and a video camera streaming data back to the ground station.
A Win-Win
My friend was excited because BVLOS drone flights are exactly what electric utilities need to fly UAV flights over transmission line ROW. Drones are capable of high-resolution videos and 3-D renderings, but they need the freedom of BVLOS flight. Today’s special FAA permits for commercial drone flights require the pilot to be in visual contact with the drone, which is not easily done over remote and rugged terrain.
This test flight suggests new regulations for BVLOS commercial drone applications ultimately will be approved, which will set off a tsunami of utility UAV applications when it happens. I have rented helicopters to inspect ROW, and it is expensive. Drones will reduce those costs substantially, and they are a lot safer for the utility personnel doing the fly-over.
Let’s begin pushing harder for more flexibility. We need BVLOS-capable UAVs. It would be a win-win for regulators and utilities alike. After all, everyone’s goal is securing a more reliable power grid while improving safety and reducing costs. Flying robots offer the opportunity for that type of technology to take off.

Flying aliens have been seen in past documents, but this is one of the first I've seen recorded. I really wish he had filmed a few minutes longer before shutting off his video so we could see how it moves. Its moment would be key to identify it as an entity. At approximately 7pm, I noticed an object in the sky that was unusual enough to stop and take a picture and video. The object's size caught my attention first. It appeared to be a solid, vertical cylinder, with an angled, extended tube or pipe attached to the cylinder's bottom. It was drifting east and descending slowly towards the ground. I observed the object for 1 minute and then I continued down the trail for approximately 1 minute to find a better view. I observed the object for another minute before losing sight of it below the horizon. It was twilight and visibility was too low to observe a landing site. At the approximate distance of 2 miles, I estimated its height to be between 30-50 feet. This flight path looked to be within 2 miles of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and I thought it was unusual for any hot-air balloon or leisure craft to be so close to a major airport. I can't think of an explanation for this object. It looked like a deflated hot-air balloon, but it was moving too slow to be a crash-landing balloon. There was no movement from the upper portion, like a deflated balloon might have. The body of the object looked solid and well formed with definite edges. And the angled appendage from the bottom was very unusual. I took a 15 second video during the first minute observation and a single picture. No media from the 2nd viewing location. I had no emotional response to the event, but wanted to capture some evidence to show others.

A brilliant column of fire, blasting out the back of a rocket ship, lit up the cool blue sky above the west Texas desert on Saturday (April 2), when the private spaceflight company Blue Origin successfully launched and landed its New Shepard vehicle for the third time.
Blue Origin's photos and amazing video of the New Shepard launch show the rocket heading skyward, where it eventually separated from the crew capsule (although no one was inside). The crew capsule parachuted back to Earth, but the rocket booster used its thrusters to make a graceful vertical landing.
This is the third time Blue Origin has flown this particular New Shepard vehicle, which makes the test flight somewhat historic. The company (which has been using the motto of "Launch. Land. Repeat." for the flights) is aiming to dramatically lower the cost of suborbital spaceflights by reusing its boosters, rather than discarding them, which is what engineers have had to do with nearly every other rocket in history. For this flight, Blue Origin also had drones following the rocket as it headed skyward, giving some absolutely breathtaking images of the craft racing through the wide open sky, the capsule parachuting back to Earth, and the booster making its incredible landing.
The crew capsule reached an apogee of 339,178 feet (103,381 meters). That's 64.2 miles (103.4 kilometers), just above the 62-mile (100 km) altitude regarded as the boundary of space.

"We pushed the envelope on this flight, restarting the engine for the propulsive landing only 3,600 feet [1097 meters] above the ground, requiring the BE-3 engine to start fast and ramp to high thrust fast," the company said in a blog post yesterday (April 3).

The private spaceflight company SpaceX is hot on Blue Origin's heels with its reusable rocket booster, which has also made successful vertical landings. SpaceX's rocket can send spacecraft to orbital altitudes above the Earth.

In a new book, “Abandoned in Place” by Roland Miller, now defunct US aerospace facilities are described as “lonely launchpads” and “rusted rockets” leftover from the heyday of US space exploration and competition with the former Soviet Union.
Although many of these facilities contain environmentally hazardous pollution including toxic rocket fuel components and tainted soil and groundwater, they are a testament to an earlier age of great innovation and advancement.
According to Miller:
Abandoned In Place is a photographic exploration of the American space-launch and research facilities that played a crucial role in the early period of space exploration. The project serves not only as a documentary body of work, but also as an artistic interpretation of these historic sites. A unique combination of documentary, abstract, and hybrid images allows Abandoned In Place to be viewed from many perspectives. The exhibition records a vanishing era in both the space race and the cold war. The temporal nature of life is evident in views of decaying sites which once captured the attention of the entire world.
The facilities photographed in Abandoned In Place portray one of the most historic and technical adventures of the last century–from our first unmanned flights beyond the atmosphere to landing men on the moon. A sense of the urgency of the space race is evident in many of the images. Signs and labels in the images reflect the technology of the era. The structures depicted also recall the darker threat of nuclear war. Some of the images describe a future that could have been if the cold war had heated up. These launch complexes, engine test stands, and wind tunnels are the Bunker Hill and Gettysburg of the cold war. References to the Great Pyramids, Chichen Itza, Stonehenge, and other major archeological sites foreshadow the future of these modern ruins.
The goals of this project are to preserve and portray these abandoned sites through photography that surpasses the official government approach to documentation, and to lend some social, historic, and artistic insight to the subject.
One of the unique aspects of Abandoned In Place is the combined utilization of documentary and abstract approaches to the subject. This blended approach helps tell a more complete story of the effort to begin exploring space. The serendipity of juxtaposed objects and text on signs conveys a subtext beyond the documentary objectives of the work.”
