Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

The Area 51 exhibit at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada is scheduled to reopen on May 17, 2014.
This exhibit, titled Area 51: Myth or Reality?, debuted on March 26, 2012 at the Smithsonian-affiliated museum. The exhibit materialized because former Area 51 employees were looking for a place to share their stories about recently declassified projects that took place at the top secret military installation. Although the exhibit features information and displays related to military aircraft projects, it also features several installations related to alleged extraterrestrial happenings at the base. The initial exhibit even featured strange debris labeled “Authentic Alien Artifact.”
The museum has hosted specialUFO lectures since its opening in 2012 including one that featured former military personnel discussing UFOs.
The museum’s Area 51 exhibit has been closed temporarily while the staff works to expand and upgrade its offerings. Once it reopens on May 17, museum director Allan Palmer says this temporary exhibit will be open for another two years. The special grand reopening event will feature special guests including Area 51 experts like investigative journalist George Knapp who is credited with first introducing Area 51 to the public.
The museum is offering 50% off admission during this special reopening event.

Monsignor Corrado Balducci, a theologian member of the Vatican Curia (governing body), and an insider close to the Pope, has gone on Italian national television five times, including recent months, to proclaim that extraterrestrial contact is a real phenomenon. Balducci provided an analysis of extraterrestrials that he feels is consistent with the Catholic Church's understanding of theology. Monsignor Balducci emphasizes that extraterrestrial encounters “are NOT demonic, they are NOT due to psychological impairment, they are NOT a case of entity attachment, but these encounters deserve to be studied carefully.” Since Monsignor Balducci is a demonology expert and consultant to the Vatican , and since the Catholic Church has historically demonized many new phenomena that were poorly understood, his stating that the Church does not censure these encounters is all the more remarkable.
Balducci revealed to a visiting American professional that the Vatican is closely following this phenomenon quietly. My informant originally surmised that the Vatican is receiving much information about extraterrestrials and their contacts with humans from its Nunciatures (embassies) in various countries. But subsequent information indicated that the Monsignor has gotten his cases from other sources. Monsignor Balducci is a member of a group which acts as consultants to the Vatican on various matters concerning humans in possible contact with supernatural beings. As such, the matter of extraterrestrial encounters would fall within their purview, and possibly as well the spiritual significance of the emerging general realization of extraterrestrial contact.
Parallel information from National Security Council scientist Dr. Michael Wolf , a member of the NSC's SSG subcommittee for managing the UFO phenomenon, as well as from noted author and Vatican expert Father Malachi Martin, suggests that the Vatican is concerned that it will have a major doctrinal updating situation on its hands when extraterrestrial contact becomes authoritatively announced by world governments over the next several years.
A second Idaho witness has come forward with photos for a sighting on the same day depicting a bell-shaped object, according to May 5, 2014, testimony in Case 56000 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
We previously reported that an Ada County, ID, witness was watching and photographing a “massive bell-shaped object hovering in the sky” about 8:15 a.m. on May 1, 2014, according to testimony in Case 55952. On May 5, 2014, a second report was filed for the same date – but from a 7:30 a.m. sighting on May 1, 2014, in Boise County, ID, with multiple images.
The witness in Case 56000 was riding a bus when the object was first seen.
“Was shaped like a golden red bell – even had the knocker looking thing just like a bell does,” the witness stated. “But it was a solid object – no moving parts. No motor no sounds. I'm guessing its size to be bigger than at least three airplanes.”
Please be cautious with witness photography until an investigation is complete. Idaho MUFON is currently conducting analysis on the images from both cases and an update to this case will be posed soon.

Bruno Sammaciccia donna le nom de code de ses AMIS: «W. 56» (W pour le signe de la victoire et 56, l’année du premier contact). Il les décrivait semblables aux hommes, dans la forme mais de tailles diverses, allant d’un à trois mètres et demi. À une occasion, lui et ses gens virent à distance des géants de 6 mètres de haut.
Ces aliens parlaient «normalement», s’intégraient parfaitement dans notre société et avaient une connaissance de notre monde et de notre histoire plus approfondie que la nôtre. Ils possédaient des technologies, comme la téléportation ou le voyage interstellaire, mais pouvaient aussi piloter nos voitures ou nos avions. Ils aimaient notre nourriture et même fumaient. Ils savaient que cette habitude pouvait être dangereuse et prenaient régulièrement quelques antidotes. De toute manière, dans l’environnement recréé de leurs différentes atmosphères et gravités, leur corps se trouvait décontaminés de toute substance toxique.
Cet effet régénérant fut aussi expérimenté par Sammaciccia et ses amis qui avaient accès aux bases souterraines. Les aliens W 56 disaient qu’ils désiraient aider les humains à survivre parce que, surtout ces dernières années, la civilisation humaine avait choisi des voies dangereuses, croyant aveuglément dans la science et oubliant tout sens moral. Ils disaient que d’autres civilisations, dans l’espace et sur Terre, qui avaient fait les mêmes erreurs, avaient toutes invariablement péri.
Ils ne pouvaient interférer sur le plan de l’ensemble, pour ne pas détruire notre culture, mais ils pouvaient enseigner peu à peu, à un petit nombre de gens sélectionnés pour un meilleur futur, et leurs messages devaient atteindre le plus grand nombre de gens possible, à travers le monde, de génération en génération.

A new study conducted by Liverpool scientists suggests the Shroud of Turin proves Jesus was crucified with his hands over his head in a “Y” shape, rather than to the sides in a “T” shape, as traditionally depicted in Christian art. The scientist leading this recent study says this new crucifixion would be “very painful” and likely cause asphyxiation for the victim.
Scientists at the Liverpool John Moores University in the U.K. announced their findings at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences earlier this year. They argue that the Shroud of Turin, believed by some to be the burial cloth of Jesus, shows an image of a man with blood stains streaking down his arms. Matteo Borrini, who led the shroud study at the John Moores University, argues that these stains could only have been obtained if the victim’s arms were hung over his head in a “Y” shape, instead of the “T” shape that is so prevalent in Christian art.
The scientists reached their new conclusion after having scientist Luigi Garlaschelli of the University of Pavia, Italy, act out different crucifixion poses with donated blood dripping down his arms via a cannula.
As Borrini told the New Scientist, this new crucifixion position would have been much more painful than the “T” shaped crucifixion, as being hung with one’s arms above their head makes it very difficult to breathe. The scientists further suggested that one hung in a “Y” shape would likely die from asphyxiation.
“This would have been a very painful position and one which would have created difficulty breathing,” Borrini said.
The validity of the Shroud of Turin has long been disputed, with some arguing that the linen is in fact Jesus’ burial cloth, and others arguing that the piece of fabric is a master forgery from the Medieval Times. As Borrini indicates, medieval torture often included hanging a victim with their arms above their head using rope. However, he did add that if the shroud is a forgery, it is expertly done since the blood stains line up as accurately as if they were produced from an actual crucifixion.
Scientists have created several theories regarding the Shroud of Turin over the years. In another recent study conducted by the Politecnico di Torino University in Torino, Italy, scientists suggested that the male image on the linen was created by neutron emissions from an earthquake that took place in 33 a.d. Jerusalem. These scientists reached their conclusion by crushing brittle rock segments in a pressure machine to stimulate an earthquake, finding that when nitrogen atoms and linen fibers met, they created a facial image.

In Peru zijn lijnen gevonden die honderden jaren ouder zijn dan de beroemde Nazcalijnen, bijzondere geogliefen of tekeningen in het zand. De lijnen zijn gemaakt door de Paraca-indianen, een beschaving die rond 800 voor Christus in Peru opkwam.
De Paraca-cultuur is ouder dan de Nazca-cultuur, die pas rond 100 voor Christus ten tonele verscheen. De Nazca-indianen zijn bekend vanwege hun prachtige figuren van dieren, honderden geometrische vormen en duizenden lijnen en lijnenspellen in het woestijnzand van de hoogvlakte van Peru.
De nieuwe lijnen zijn tenminste 300 jaar ouder dan de oudste Nazcalijnen, aldus Charles Stanish van de Universiteit van Californië in Los Angeles. De vondst wordt beschreven in het tijdschrift Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. De lijnen zijn op zo’n 200 kilometer van de Peruaanse hoofdstad van Lima ontdekt.
Stanish en zijn collega’s ontdekten grote kunstmatige heuvels in de Chinca-vallei. Ze vonden in totaal 71 geogliefen en 353 steenstapels of stenen die cirkels of vierkanten vormen. Enkele lange lijnen kwamen uit bij de plek waar de zon onderging tijdens de zomerwende (de winterwende op het zuidelijk halfrond). Twee U-vormige heuvels en een groot platform wezen ook in de richting van de zonsondergang tijdens de zomerwende.

Sommige lijnen wijzen naar belangrijke piramides, aldus Stanish. Andere lijnen lopen parallel aan wegen die tot op de dag van vandaag worden gebruikt. De lijnen en heuvels bevinden zich op zo’n 15 kilometer van nederzettingen aan de kust.
De onderzoekers willen opgravingen doen bij piramides in het kustgebied, om te kijken of er een verband is tussen de nederzettingen en de lijnen en heuvels in de woestijn. De ontdekking van deze oudere lijnen benadrukt dat de geogliefen meer dan één functie hadden, aldus Stanish. Mensen vragen zich vaak af wat de reden is van de Nazcalijnen, maar volgens Stanish dienden ze meerdere doelen.
“De lijnen hadden een sociale functie,” zei Stanish. “Sommigen hebben gezegd dat de lijnen naar heilige bergen wijzen. De lijnen wijzen mogelijk ook naar heilige piramides. De lijnen kunnen daarnaast zijn gebruikt voor optochten.” Hij vergelijkt de lijnen met aardewerk: één uitvinding met meerdere functies. “De indianen uit dit deel van de wereld waren extreem vindingrijk,” besloot Stanish.

When: 1905 Who: a punk rocker. This guy was clearly a total amateur. He doesn’t look anything like anyone else in the photo! He’s got the Mohawk haircut (and whoever heard of Mohawks on white guys before 1970?), plus he’s wearing a white short sleeved shirt and everyone else is in long sleeves and jackets and hats. Given the popularity of the haircut in the 1970s, actually, we’d argue that this time traveler probably traveled to 1905 from the 1970s. Who knew they had time travel back then? Personally, though, we’re more concerned about that guy who is kind of in front of him and more in the foreground. He’s wearing a hat but his hair looks like it’s got a big vein in it, like he’s got a giant head with huge veins that he is concealing with a hat. To us, he looks like a Talosian, those guys from the Star Trek episode The Menagerie/The Cage! That’s right, it’s a time traveling alien!
A Time Travelling hipster! This is the famous photograph that started the new craze for looking for time travelers in old photographs. This hipster’s got totally cool wraparound glasses, is wearing a faded old silkscreened t-shirt of the sort not made until the 1970s (when Forrest Gump popularized them), has a pocket-size digital camera around his neck, and a modern haircut. He’s also quite a bit taller than the people surrounding him, reflecting the greater height people have today. Who does he think he’s fooling?

Internet people reached to the obvious conclusion: it’s a time traveller caught on camera on 1940! Finally, we have proof!
If the story seems straight out of a movie and the photo is in itself a great funny find, the most amusing thing i came up with while looking into this – as an Internet person, on the Internet – was the reply for a skeptical, or perhaps somewhat cynical comment on how spurious it would seem the idea that a time traveler would want to visit the reopening of a bridge in some small town in Canada.
Read this on Doc Brown’s voice: “Of course, because we know nothing happened there right? But if we are considering time travel, how can we know if in some other timeline something historical happened right there?”
Indeed! Once you consider time travel, everything changes. But before writing Hollywood scripts, let’s get back to reality and ask again: is the photo evidence of a time traveller?
In a behind the scenes footage, part of Charlie Chaplin’s “The Circus” – A large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device – talking as she walks alone. I have studied this film for over a year now – showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing. My only theory many others – is simple… a time traveler on a mobile phone.”

What if we could take our cameras and iPhones back through time, and capture pictures of ourselves in moments throughout history? Stand beside famous celebrities, mingle with people from eras past?
Do you think time travelling is possible or it's just Sci Fi? If you had had the chance to time travel when and where would you have gone and why? Would you have changed anything or let things stay the way they were at that time?
A growing number of futurists are speculating that someday human minds will be transferred to computers. Let’s assume that will happen, whether in a hundred years or a thousand. Futurists say that all we’ll need is fairly normal advances in technology to get there.
At the moment, the best minds in science believe that time travel is impossible, at least in the sense of sending a solid object back in time. But a number of scientists are noodling with the idea that binary information can be sent back in time using some sort of strange quantum trickery. Again for fun, assume someone in the future figures out how to send information back in time.
Combining my two assumptions, it means that someday future robots with human-originated minds will have the means to send their entire minds back in time, so long as there is some sort of detector in the present to pick up the signals.
The problem with building a detector in the present is that we can’t know what method the future will invent for sending information back in time. But as the future gets nearer, we should be able to take ever-better guesses on what sort of detectors might work.
My idea is to start a long-term project of building various types of detectors and seeding the Internet with information about those detectors so our future robot humans can know what type of detectors to aim for. Every year, as we get better guesses about the type of detectors that might work, we build them and add them to the mix. In the short term, the detectors would be networked to normal data storage. Longer term, we’d build a robot with enough data storage for the incoming human mind.
Imagine some future human sitting in the detector lab next to the slumped robot that is waiting for an incoming mind from the future. The robot pops to life, looks around, and speaks its first words: “Wow! That actually worked!”
The Piri Reis Map was compiled in 1513 as a map of the world, backed by an Ottomon (Turkish) admiral and cartographer (map maker), Piri Reis.
Only one third of the map survives. What is left shows the western coast of Europe, North Africa, and the coast of Brazil with great accuracy. The construction of the map incorporated many other world explorers and their maps from Indians to Columbus, Arabian and Portuguese. It was placed upon gazelle hide. The map was discovered by a German theologian in 1929, sent to go through maps in the Turkish collection. It is believed that there were other maps more accurate in relationships and contours during the 16th Century.
This is considered to be the oldest existing map showing America.
Source:Apart from its great historic interest, the map has been alleged to contain details no European could have known in the 1500's, and therefore proves the existence of ancient technological civilizations, visits by extraterrestrials, or both.
It is believed this map was torn along the eastern edge and so we are only seeing half of an entire world map.
There are many discrepancies involving the America portion of the map. The marginal notes refer to some of the islands and coasts north of South America as “Antilia,” clearly referring to the Antilles. The lack of good detail is puzzling since there must have been much better maps of the Caribbean by this time. If it's a real place at all – “Antilia” was a legendary island of the times.
Perhaps the biggest controversy about the map is what many interpret to be Antarctica without ice.

Source:Thereafter, the Piri Reis Map drifts into the Twilight Zone. It shows South America swinging far to the east. Given that the map so far has done fairly well in latitude, we can be sure the coastline is not Antarctica. Also, if the map draws on ancient knowledge to show things no 16th century explorer would have known, why is the coastline continuous? So why isn't there open water between South America and “Antarctica?” You can't seize on an accidental resemblance to a couple of bumps on the coast of Antarctica and blithely ignore the failure to show the Drake Passage!
Most damning of all to the Antarctica interpretation is that the marginal notes refer to the coast in this region being discovered by Portuguese ships blown off course. One note refers to the land being “very hot,” which probably rules out Antarctica. The Piri Reis Map itself explicitly says the information in this area came from European sources. Atlanteans and extraterrestrials need not apply. We have isolated sightings of coast made by ships far off course and unsure of their location. Small wonder the map is wildly inaccurate.
On the other side of this dispute are those who contend Piri Reis was showing the true Antarctica -

TO: Prof Charles H. Hapgood, Keene College Dear Professor Hapgood, Your request of evaluation of certain unusual features of the Piri Reis Antarctica map of 1513 by this organization has been reviewed.. The claim that the lower part of the map portrays the Princess Martha Coast of Queen Maud Land, Antarctic, and the Palmer Peninsular, is reasonable. We find that this is the most logical and in all probability the correct interpretation of the map. The geographical detail shown in the lower part of the map agrees very remarkably with the results of the seismic profile made across the top of the ice-cap by the Swedish-British Antarctic Expedition of 1949.This indicates the coastline had been mapped before it was covered by the ice-cap. This part of Antarctica ice free. The ice-cap in this region is now about a mile thick. We have no idea how the data on this map can be reconciled with the supposed state of geographical knowledge in 1513.

Of course, this far from the drawing of the map and those involved, all we have is conjecture. If Piri Reis depended on lots of seafaring countries to give him input and come up with a consensus, then it would seem that they did a fair job on most of the recognizable landmarks, though North America seems to be a real puzzle. It would be interesting to see if anyone can uncover in some archives at some museum, the other half of this map. It astonishes me that any museum could be so poorly cataloged and, yet, look what the Smithsonian did with the mounds finds and ancient giant race!
Dr. Roger Leir, a surgeon (now deceased) who performed operations for more than 30 years, says he had undeniable proof that people have been implanted with alien objects, many of which he removed from patients.There was no evidence of point of entry nor any sign of inflammation, which Dr. Leir said is impossible. In addition to doing hundreds of hours of interviews, Colvin has so far generated over 3000 pages of writing and several thousand photographs, all devoted to exploring the mysteries of the Mothman phenomenon. This photo book, “The Mothman’s Photographer I,” features 300 of Colvin’s eerie, symbolic images. Biography
Andy Colvin is an eclectic artist, filmmaker, writer, musician, and media commentator who has been called “his generation’s Charles Fort,” the “Sherlock Holmes of synchro-conspiracy,” and “one of America’s great, pain-in-the-butt original thinkers.” Colvin was one of the founders of the “xerox” or “street art” movement now popular in galleries from London to L.A. Colvin was also one of the first “spoken word” artists, and is considered by some to be the world’s foremost authority on the mysterious “Mothman” phenomenon, due to his early experiences with the phenomenon and his intensive audovisual documentation of symbols and synchronicities.
Colvin’s often controversial theories have made him a popular speaker on venues like Coast to Coast AM, Ground Zero, NPR, RAI, and PBS, and have gained him a dedicated following. In 2011, Colvin co-hosted the popular conspiracy show, “That Was the Month That Wasn’t,” which examined how the media blends stories to subconsciously “manufacture consent” in the public mind. Following in the footsteps of Fortean author John A. His ensuing documentation of the lives of local “slackers” influenced the seminal cult hit that defined Generation-X, “Slacker.” Colvin’s band, “Ed Hall,” appeared in the film and on the soundtrack.
Following graduate school, Colvin worked on Hollywood films, toured with his experimental troupe, The Interdimensional Vortex League (once named America’s “most underground band”), and began making small, ethnographic documentaries about unusual tribes, subcultures, and personalities. His 25-year study of modern Texans, “Multislackers: The Emerging Threat,” is slated for production in 2013.
Colvin’s work has been seen or heard in all 50 states, and in several foreign countries. His writing has appeared in various magazines, including Paranoia, The Stranger, Inside the Grassy Knoll, and D’Art, the arts journal for the Church of the Subgenius. A married couple, both doctors were on their way to the countryside to spend their weekend, when suddenly up ahead on the road a very bright light became visible. Their vehicle suddenly stopped. Soon standing next to their car window was a human like figure; it was wearing a sort of silvery gray uniform. In perfect Spanish he said, “Do not fear, and don’t be afraid of me I’m not of this Earth.” The woman became hysterical and began to cry while her husband begged the stranger to let them continued on the journey. After telling the couple that he came from a planet similar to Earth he shook the man’s hand. The doctor then gave the stranger some personal belongings as a gift. The silvery clad man then walked back to the bright light on the road where several other men waited for him. The men then apparently entered the shiny object, which began to gyrate at a high rate of speed it suddenly took off and was lost from sight in a matter of seconds.
One night in 1972, four coeds from Southern Utah University were driving back to their dorm in Cedar City after spending the day at a rodeo in Pioche, Nevada. It was about 10 p.m. and the girls were eager to get back to their dorm before curfew. They were traveling along Highway 56, which has a reputation for being “haunted.” A while after taking a fork in the road that turned to the north, the girls were surprised to see that the black asphalt had turned into a white cement …road that eventually ended abruptly at a cliff face. They turned around and tried to find their way back to the highway, but soon became concerned about the unfamiliar landscape – red canyon walls that gave way to open grain fields and pine trees, which they had never encountered before in this part of the state. Feeling completely lost, the girls felt some comfort when they approached a roadhouse or tavern. They pulled into the parking lot and one of the passengers poked her head out the window to get directions from a few “men” coming out of the building. But she screamed and ordered the driver to get out of there – fast. The girls sped off, but realized they were being chased by the men in strange, tri-wheeled, egg-shaped vehicles. Speeding again through the canyon, the girls seemed to have lost their pursuers and found their way to the familiar desert highway. The reason for the scream? The men, she said, weren’t human.”
There’s been a lot of focus lately, on weird happenings in faraway lands. The middle-east, Russia, Asia, even Australia, which from a Can-Am-centric perspective (I’m Canadian) might provide an expanded view of our world, but there are plenty of weird things to look at right here in North America. And today I bring a story from what is arguably one of North America’s most beautiful destinations: New England.
Known for high society, fine-dining, world class skiing, and mysterious disappearances, Vermont, one of the six US states that make up the New England region, has been the focus of some of the better minds in anomalous or Fortean research over the years. One place in particular has gotten more than its fair share of attention: Glastonbury Mountain, also known as Green Mountain or the Green Mountain Range, is home to some very strange goings on, and has inspired some of the wildest theories you’ve ever heard.
The entire area of New England has been the primary focus of renowned author and Fortean researcher Joseph A. Citro. Humorously dubbed the Bard of the Bizarre by the Boston Globe, Citro has written extensively on the weird happenings, disappearances and other phenomena of New England, and especially Vermont. He is the originator of the somewhat little known Bennington Triangle theory, which is, as may seem obvious, a play on the Bermuda Triangle, and is his attempt to document and explain the disappearance of some five different people under mysterious circumstances since 1945, all on Glastonbury Mountain.
Citro notes, in his premiere novel Shadow Child (1987), which deals extensively with the mysteries of Glastonbury Mountain, that the area of what is now called Green Mountain has long been known, through Native American culture, as a strange and dangerous place that is to be avoided at all costs. Citro’s apparent familiarity with the history and traditions of the Algonquin peoples, who inhabited the area as early as 8500 BCE, has given him unique insight into the special and dark nature of the mountain.
The disappearances of Middie Rivers (1945), Paula Weldon (1946), James Tedford (1949), Paul Jepson (1950), and Frieda Langer (1950), are something of local legend in the area.
18 year old Paula Weldon, who disappeared while on a solo hike on the Long Trail, became something of a celebrity. As the story goes, several people witnessed her departure from Bennington College, with the knowledge that she was headed out for a short hike. Two elderly hikers reported seeing her on the trail, approximately 100 yards ahead of them, minutes before she disappeared. They claimed that she rounded a corner on the trail, and when they reached the same corner, she was gone, and was never seen or heard from again, despite extensive searches, FBI involvement and even a $5000 reward for her safe return. Her case became part of local urban legend, as people speculated about her becoming a wild recluse on the mountain, or perhaps fleeing to Canada to marry a boyfriend whose identity she kept secret.
There are several coincidences involved in the disappearances, but no real connection between any of the cases has been found. James Tedford (also spelled Teford or Tetford) disappeared from a bus between stops as it travelled toward Bennington exactly three years to the day from Weldon’s disappearance. Also, 8 year old Paul Jepson, who disappeared from his mother’s truck, while she tended to her pigs, was tracked with dogs. His scent was apparently picked up and followed to a local highway, which happened to be very near where Paula Weldon had disappeared.
The only one of the five to ever have been recovered was 53 year old Frieda Langer, who disappeared during a hike with her cousin only sixteen days after little Paul Jepson. Her body was recovered seven months later, near the Somerset Reservoir, which had been searched extensively at the time of her disappearance. No cause of death could be determined because of the advanced state of decay in which she was found.
Strange coincidences notwithstanding, there isn’t much about these disappearances that warrants Fortean attention, at least on the surface. People go missing, it happens every day, all over the world, and though it’s a tragic event, it isn’t necessarily anomalous or even all that weird.
Except…
According to Citro, the Bennington Triangle, an ill-defined area surrounding Glastonbury Mountain and roughly bordered by the region of Bennington itself, bears striking resemblance to the nearby Bridgewater Triangle of Massachusetts. The Bridgewater Triangle, for those unfamiliar, is an area of approximately 200 square miles in southeastern Massachusetts, wherein sightings of UFO’s, orbs, Bigfoot, and thunderbird, as well as cattle mutilations have been taking place on a regular basis for decades, if not centuries. Citro claims that there is similar folklore and history between these two areas, and has put forward some slightly strange explanations for the weirdness held therein.
Perhaps his strangest explanation is the man-eating stone of Glastonbury Mountain. Making its first appearance in Citro’s book The Vermont Monster Guide (2009), the man-eating stone is exactly what it sounds like…a rock that eats people.
“No one alive has seen this dangerous anomaly on Glastonbury Mountain. Native Americans knew of it, and warned people away. We can only imagine it as a sizable rock, large enough to stand on. But when someone stands upon it, the rock becomes less solid, and, like a living thing, swallows the unfortunate trespasser. A number of disappearances have been reported on Glastonbury Mountain. Could all these vanished folks have stepped inadvertently on this hungry stone?”[1]
In another of his books, Passing Strange: True Tales of New England Hauntings and Horrors (1996), Citro describes “an inaccessible region, remote, full of dark places, jutting outcrops, vast marshlands and quiet pools.” He seems to regard the entire region as a magical land of mysteries and dangers, almost fairy-tale-like, but describes a wild, almost untouched wilderness sitting in the heart of American society’s upper crust summer vacation destination.
Is there something weird going on at Glastonbury Mountain? Is the Bennington Triangle worth a closer look? Or is a talented author and folklorist trying to sell books through sensational, if difficult to believe theories? The facts are that five people disappeared on that mountain, four of them without a trace of evidence as to their whereabouts or fate. That alone should get our attention, and who knows…maybe there is a boulder with an appetite for man-flesh in Vermont.

Witness said: It was a sunny afternoon on the day of 27th April 2014 and i was out with my camera scanning the skies for more Unidentified Flying Objects. I was tracking a commercial airliner for a frame of reference at 4.36pm when the UFO first came into view. It seemed to me the object was much higher in the sky than the commercial jet and a considerable distance away, est. approximately 5km North-West of Taylors Hill, Vic. Australia. The object was hard to see against the blue sky and certainly not visible with the unaided eye, no. A 62mm Infrared 950nm camera filter was necessary to spot this object. I believe this sighting provides further proof that what i have been observing in the sky over my suburb is a very real phenomena involving unknown intelligent lifeforms, and very likely energy-based vehicles under intelligent control. I have had previous close encounters with UFOs and i can rule out obvious explanations. After many months of filming UFOs i cannot claim i have ever seen any acts of malevolence or undesirable interactions between the subjects being filmed and persons either in the air or on the ground.
