We have achieved strong, fast, power-dense, high-efficiency, biomimetic, soft, safe, clean, organic and affordable robotic technology. Dumbbell weights 7 kg (15,6 lb) , forearm with hand only 1 kg (2,2 lb).

This artificial muscles robotic arm is operated by water and consumes 200W at peak. We invent and produce our electro-hydraulic mini valves to have complete controllability of speed contraction and compress the whole powering system (for a full body) inside humanlike robot torso.

At this moment our robotic arm is operated only by a half of artificial muscles when compared to a human body. Strongest finger-bending muscle still missing. Fingers are going to move from left to right but they don’t have muscles yet. Metacarpal and left-to-right wrist movement are also blocked. This version has a position sensor in each joint but they are yet to be software-implemented. We are going to add everything mentioned above in the next prototype.

The movement sequence was written and sent by simple commands to a hand. We wish to develop a platform for reinforcement learning purposes, prosthetic arms and ultimately a full humanoid robots to serve people for fun, as butlers, cleaners, chauffeurs, construction workers (also in space) and even achieve human immortallity by transplanting the brain into the machine.

In this video we show you the new kind of artificial muscles that don’t explode after puncture but just bleed without a visible decrease of performance. We also present our robotic arm. Since the last time we have shown it we made a very big progress in valve contruction to keep it leaktight, durable and energy efficient. We increased the durability of the muscles to operate under higher pressures and sustain much more life cycles. Next step is to add the second half of the forearm muscles to achieve all of degrees of freedom of a human arm.

Aliens Created Bitcoin In Order To Help Humanity Evolve Faster! Oct 2021, UFO Sighting News.

 

Wow, and Bitcoin just hit its ATH...all time high. Even companies and governments are considering it more seriously. No government can regulate it, control it. It's bigger than that, because aliens created it. 

 

This may sound crazy, but I have a thought for you guys. I was watching Logan Pauls podcast with Andrei Jikh about Bitcoin and how magnificent it is and it really made me think. Everything about Bitcoin is so utterly perfect. There are no real flaws in its idea and there’s no real way to exploit it, something which is very rare in most human created concepts and ideas. They also talk about how this is the next step in human civilization which I agree with. That could be linked to the theory that aliens are waiting for us to develop both technologically and morally before contacting us. Bitcoin was actually planted by aliens to help accelerate our learning curve! Yes you can argue Vitalik Buterin created Ethereum but he used the idea of Bitcoin and what it is to then create his own ideology. It just completely baffles me that a human could create such a genius concept that cannot be faulted, cannot be exploited even by the power of governments etc and yet he or she has remained anonymous this whole time. Food for thought. Bitcoin...100% proof alien technology is right here on earth and anyone can get some.

Triangle UFO filmed over Lehi, Utah

Strange triangular-shaped formation was filmed in the sky above Lehi, UT back in March 2021.

Witness report: 

I filmed this while I was in Lehi, Utah. The area I saw the objects was near the Provo canyon entrance, which so happens to be the general direction you go to get to Skinwalker ranch. I did add a filter to this video to try and make the lights visible a bit more. I do have some other more recent footage of what appeared to be a cigar shaped craft flying very slowly above a mountain peak behind my house. In person, you could clearly make out what seemed to be an electrical field around the craft, almost looked like a plasma. Absolutely blew my mind!

Former CIA official says aliens live under the moon’s surface

The Moon has generated many controversies over the years, but very few from any US government official. A former CIA pilot has stated that our satellite is inhabited by aliens living under the lunar surface.

John Lear , a former CIA pilot, stated that the United States government has information about the Moon and its subterranean inhabitants

Specifically, “the population is 250 million gray aliens , where there are laboratories where they do genetic experiments.”

Lear, one of the greatest popularizers of the 80s and 90s, has always denounced secret information related to aliens.

He said that “in 1953, an alien ship crashed on Earth, capturing an alien known to EBE 3 “.

Another surprising statement that Lear has given is about planet Earth .

The popularizer said that “Earth is actually a prison planet that serves as a kind of prison institution.”

US Submarine Strikes Unknown Object

Last week, the USS Connecticut ran into a "mystery object" while submerged in the Indo-Pacific region. The nuclear-powered Seawolf-class submarine sustained damage and 11 crew members were injured in the underwater collision. Officials have not yet released details about the object nor the nature of the attack submarine's mission. According to a statement by the US Pacific Fleet Public Affairs, the severity of the damage is being evaluated, and an investigation into the strange incident will be initiated.

Spontaneous Human Combustion: A Burning Mystery

For some time, people have debated whether or not human beings could spontaneously combust, or burst into flames, without an external heat source. However, over the past 300 years, there have been more than 200 reports of such incidents occurring. This phenomenon is called spontaneous human combustion (or SHC) and it occurs when a person supposedly burns to death by a fire believed to have started from within the body of that person. Of the hundreds of accounts on record, there seems to be a similar pattern.

A solitary victim is often consumed by flame, usually inside his or her home. However, the extremities, such as the hands, feet, or parts of the leg, often remaining intact. The torso and head are charred beyond recognition and, in rare cases, the internal organs of a victim remain unscathed.

The room the victim was in usually shows little to no signs of fire, aside from a greasy residue left on furniture and walls. Often there is a sweet, smoky smell in the room where the incident has occurred.

Historic Cases of Spontaneous Human Combustion

The history of SHC can be traced back to medieval literature and some even believe there are several passages in the Bible making reference to it.

In 1641, the Danish physician, Thomas Bartholin (1616-1680), described the death of Polonus Vorstius in his book Historiarum Anatomicarum Rariorum , a collection of strange medical phenomena.

Vorstius was an Italian knight, who, while at his home in Milan, Italy in 1470, drank some strong wine and started vomiting flames before bursting into fire. This is considered to be the first recorded account of spontaneous combustion in human history.

In 1673, French author Jonas Dupont, published a book entitled De Incendiis Corporis Humani Spontaneis, which is a collection of cases and studies on the subject of spontaneous human combustion.

One famous incident from France dates back to 1725, when a Parisian innkeeper was awoken by the smell of smoke and discovered that his wife, Nicole Millet, had been reduced to ashes while lying on a straw pallet, which itself had been untouched by the flames.

All that remained of Madame Millet, a chronic alcoholic, was her skull, a few bones from her back, and lower legs. Wooden items found around her were undamaged. Her husband was charged with murder and initially found guilty.

The Wick Effect: A Scientific Explanation for SHC

There are several theories as to what causes SHC apart from the above-mentioned alcoholism. These include: flammable body fat, acetone buildup, static electricity, methane, bacteria, stress, and even divine intervention.

The theory explaining SHC which is most approved by science is called the “wick effect.” It likens the body of an SHC victim to a candle. A candle is composed of a wick on the inside surrounded by a wax made of flammable fatty acids. Fire ignites the wick and the fatty wax keeps it burning.

In the human body, the body fat acts as the flammable substance, while the victim's clothing or hair is the wick. A cigarette might set fire to a person’s clothing then split their skin, releasing subcutaneous fat, which in turn is absorbed into the burned clothing. As the fat melts from the heat, it soaks into the clothing, acting as a “wax-like substance” to keep the "wick" burning. The burning continues for as long as there is fuel available. Proponents of this theory say it explains why victims' bodies are destroyed yet their surroundings are barely burned.

There is More to Consider About This Phenomenon

Author and biology professor Brian J Ford offers another explanation for SHC. He says that an acetone build-up is likely at the root of this bizarre phenomenon:

“When a person is ill they sometimes naturally produce traces of acetone in the body, and acetone is highly inflammable. I experimented with scale model humans using pig flesh that had been marinated in acetone; they burn like incendiary bombs. Alcoholism can cause people to produce acetone, as can many diseases. My conclusion is that an unwell individual produces high levels of acetone which accumulates in the fatty tissues and can be ignited, perhaps by a static spark or a cigarette.”

Something that should be taken into consideration is the fact that cases of SHC almost always occur indoors, to lone humans, and often near sources of heat. For example, there are almost no known instances of spontaneous human combustion happening in the middle of the street.

Another point to consider is that the phenomenon only seems to happen to humans, there are no known reported cases of animals suddenly catching fire.

Also, the "wick effect" doesn’t seem to fully explain why the victims remain motionless during the episode of combustion and burning, nor does it provide enough explanation why surrounding furniture is so often unaffected by the fire.

Furthermore, believers in SHC point to the fact that the human body has to reach a temperature of roughly 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,648 degrees Celsius) in order to be reduced to complete ashes, which has been the case with many of the victims found. By comparison, cremating a human body is carried out at a temperature between 1400 and 1800 degrees Fahrenheit (982 degrees Celsius).

Modern Spontaneous Human Combustion Cases

Cases of SHC aren’t simply the stuff of old wives tales or confined strictly to books of antiquity. For instance, a more modern example took place in Ireland in 2010.

The burned body of an elderly man was found lying with his head near the fireplace of his apartment in a room that had virtually no fire damage. There were no burn marks on the floor, on the ceiling directly above him, or anywhere else in the room. An Irish coroner would later rule that spontaneous combustion was the cause of the death of 76-year-old Michael Faherty.

Another modern case of possible SHC occurred in 2017. The Independent reported that a 70-year-old man suddenly burst into flames “in unexplained circumstances in a London street.” The Fire Brigade’s investigation “found no evidence of an “accelerant” that would have spread the flames” and the man’s death was treated as “unexplained.” Could this be another case of spontaneous human combustion?

Many people believe that there is much about the human body which makes it unique among earthly beings and there are aspects of humans that are still unknown to us. One such feature is the phenomenon of spontaneous human combustion, which remains an unsolved mystery .

Aliens disabled missiles in a powerful warning to humanity, claims a former US Airforce Captain.

Captain Robert Salas says a UFO switched off ten independently run missiles on March 24, 1967 because extraterrestrial life does not want us to use nuclear weapons.

Salas who recalls the unexplained incident in Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, US, adds that the world's intelligence community has covered up decades of alien activity.

He says and his commander at a secret underground launch control facility, were ordered sign a vow of silence regarding the bizarre UFO encounter.

Salas told The Sun Online : "I was in charge of ten nuclear missiles at the time when a UFO came over and hovered over our facility and while it was hovering there it was seen by all our guards.

Siege of top-secret Area 51 began as a joke. Officials prepared to use deadly force in response.

When a UFO enthusiast posted an event on Facebook about "storming" the military base known as Area 51, he meant it as a joke. However, it was no laughing matter to federal and state law enforcement, who readied a lethal response to prevent revelers from breaching the off-limits area, records recently revealed. 

Area 51 is a U.S. Air Force installation in southern Nevada's Groom Lake, a salt flat about 80 miles (129 kilometers) northwest of Las Vegas. For decades, the base's remote location and restricted access have fueled speculation about military officials performing secret experiments on extraterrestrials there, and storing evidence of alien visitors and UFOs.

The general public is barred from visiting Area 51. But during the summer of 2019, a Facebook event titled "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us" (now deleted) enticed nearly 2 million people to sign up for a raid on the base to take place on Sept. 20. The massive scale of the proposed event raised alarms at local and federal levels, according to government communications that were recently obtained by Rolling Stone. Dozens of law enforcement agencies mobilized and readied responses to the proposed onslaught, including "automated deadly force countermeasures," Rolling Stone reported Oct. 17.

The plan for "Storm Area 51", according to the Facebook post, was for attendees to gather in the Nevada desert near Area 51, charge the gates at sunrise and then, once inside, "see them aliens" and possibly conduct an extraterrestrial rescue operation, Live Science previously reported. Matty Roberts, then a 20-year-old college student in Bakersfield, California, created the post on June 27, and claimed "it was totally a joke from the get-go," Roberts told the BBC on Sept. 13, 2019.

But law enforcement agencies weren't amused; and they prepared accordingly.

"A certain portion of the participants may be armed and could expect armed conflict," read the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division's operational plan for the "Storm Area 51" event. The 2019 document was obtained by the nonpartisan government transparency group Property of the People and then shared with Rolling Stone. Hundreds of pages detailed law enforcement agencies' plans, situation reports, descriptions of transport for Area 51 employees, and maps of all entrances, Rolling Stone reported.

The document also described several unnamed YouTubers' attempts to track employees as they entered and left the base, according to Rolling Stone.

Even if most of the "Storm Area 51" attendees weren't seriously planning to invade a restricted military site, "there is a potential for domestic and foreign terrorist groups to utilize this event to test the security of sensitive national security sites by infiltrating the groups planning to storm the facility," the plan read. Harsh conditions in the Nevada desert — the threat of wildfires, lack of water and extreme temperature fluctuations — could worsen an already volatile situation, sowing panic and increasing the possibility of "mass casualties," according to the report.

In the end, online interest in raiding the base petered out, and Roberts canceled "Storm Area 51" with just nine days to spare. As an alternative, he urged people to instead visit "Alienstock," a UFO-celebrating festival in Las Vegas; nonetheless, a few thousand people still gathered in the town of Rachel, Nevada, about a 20-minute drive from Area 51's entrance, on the appointed day, The Guardian reported on Sept. 24, 2019. 

However, most of the assembled throng were busy documenting their presence for viewers on YouTube and Instagram, and none broke down the gates to find hidden evidence of UFOs, according to the Guardian.

This is Not a UFO, Just a Fiery Meteoroid Streaking Across the Michigan and Detroit Metropolitan Area Sky

Did you notice something in the sky last night? Well, if you live in the West Michigan or Detroit metropolitan area, a fiery meteoroid streaked across the night sky at around 12:45 am local time. American Meteor Society (AMS) received over 80 reports of fireball sightings by 5 am this morning, and those who witnessed it said the meteoroid had a glowing train following close behind. Read more for two videos and additional information.

A bulk of the sightings came from residents in the southeast Michigan area, but also include Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and more. One thing to note is that the Orionid Meteor Shower does peak on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This is the second meteor shower of October, and is expected to peak in the early morning hours, perfectly coinciding with the full moon, which is set to occur at 10:57 am EDT.

Photographer Claims He Filmed Aliens Neutralizing Nuclear Missile Mid-Air - Report

Prior to the news conference, Captain Salas reportedly expressed hope that the military "will make a comment finally and start coming forward and answering questions about the incidents we will be reporting on."

Dr. Robert Jacobs, who led a team photographing early US nuclear missiles, admitted at Tuesday's press conference on the subject of extraterrestrial interference in nuclear tests led by retired Air Force Captain Robert Salas of the Paradigm Research Group that he "was part of a US Air Force cover-up."

Jacobs revealed that in the early 1960s, he supervised a team of scientists who made comprehensive pictures of missile launches because, as he says, "in those days a lot of the missiles blew up on the launchpad," per the Daily Star transcription, and the high-resolution film footage helped scientists figure out why.

He reportedly described utilizing an ultra-high-resolution film camera to take images of a 12,800 kmph (8,000 mph) missile equipped with a radar chaff dispenser to throw possible Soviet defenses off-target on September 14, 1964

After the test, he was summoned to his commander's office, Major Florenze J Mansmann, who demanded to know whether he was messing with the film.

According to Jacobs' claims, a saucer-shaped UFO could be observed in slow motion circling the fast-moving dummy warhead and shooting tightly-focused laser beams at it.

He said that the superior officer ordered him to stay mum about the incident, and so he did for 17 years before telling his story to some late-night radio show. Jacobs noted he believes the footage is still being kept secret by the US government, and it should be released since it is the "most important event in the history of mankind."

Officials even called a wartime meeting with Churchill about a UFO sighting reported by Royal Air Force pilots. Even though UFO strictly refers to unidentified flying objects, and it was entirely plausible that the sighting was simply an unrecognized enemy aircraft, Churchill was concerned about a mass panic. In fact, he was so concerned about the repercussions if this UFO sighting was made public that he ordered the incident to be kept a secret for at least 50 years. This sighting, along with hundreds of others made in the UK over the decades since, was revealed in a 5,000-page report declassified to the public back in 2010.

SOMETHING CHURCHILL FEARED MORE THAN PUBLIC PANIC

It wasn't just mass panic that was on the Prime Minister's mind when covering up the UFO sighting. According to BBC, Winston Churchill was also a believer in life out among the stars, as evidenced by an unpublished essay written during the beginning of World War II and updated in the 1950s. The essay was handed to a museum in the '80s but was forgotten about until its rediscovery in 2017.

The 11-page essay saw Churchill quote famous astronomers like Copernicus as he put forth his arguments for extraterrestrial life. The vast size and scope of the universe and presence of liquid water on other planets made the chances that Earth is the only planet to support life slim, said the Prime Minister. Churchill's respect for the sciences was well-known, being the first PM to appoint a scientific advisor, and he even had some theories that were later proven true, like the existence of planets orbiting other stars, or humans eventually traveling to the Moon. It's not surprising that he would later consider the presence of UFOs a serious threat — not just the possibility that they're enemy aircraft, but invaders from the stars.

Last week, former USAF captain and nuclear missile crew commander Robert Salas announced his fundraiser had reached its goal and he was now able to schedule a press conference with three other former Air Force officers to reveal what has been long covered up – information about UFOs interfering with U.S. nuclear missile sites. The news conference was held on October 19th and it was worth the wait.

“I was part of a US Airforce cover-up. It was shaped like a flying saucer and was firing a beam of light at our warhead.”

Salas, Robert Jamison, a former USAF captain and nuclear missile targeting officer, and David Schindele, a former USAF captain and nuclear missile crew commander, attended the National Press Club conference in person, but it was the live video testimony of Robert Jacobs, a former USAF lieutenant and missile test photographic officer, that stole the show. In 1964, Jacobs led a team making high-resolution films of missile launches because so many of them were blowing up. On September 14, 1964, he recorded footage of an 8,000 mph missile fitted with a radar chaff dispenser to hide it from Soviet radar. He turned in the film and was surprised to be called to meet with his superior about it. What was recorded around the rocket shocked him.

What did the actual film show?

“We might see the underside three levels of that rocket filling the body from 160 miles away. It was superb, the readability. As I watched, abruptly, in the identical route these things was flying, at about 8,000 miles an hour, an object got here into the body, shot a beam of sunshine on the warhead. It flew as much as the highest, shot one other beam of sunshine on the warhead, flew across the route it was flying, shot one other beam of sunshine on the warhead. It flew all the way down to shoot one other beam of sunshine on the warhead after which flew out the identical means it got here in.”

Jacobs says he blurted out that it was a UFO and asked if he was being pranked. He was ordered to never speak of the film or the incident again by his commanding officer in front of two men in grey suits he believed were CIA. To emphasize the seriousness of the order, Jacobs says the commander told him:

“Lieutenant if you were ever tortured in the future, somebody has you up against the wall and they’re frying your privates with fire, you can tell them this, it was laser tracking.”

Jacobs then points out that laser tracking was not known to exist in 1964. He says he kept quiet for years, even though he believed he witnessed an encounter with an alien flying saucer. Eventually, he sold his story to the National Enquirer, which didn’t help his credibility. That’s why he, Salas and the other officers hope to pressure the Pentagon to do the same thing it did after the Tic Tac UFO revelations – come clean on what it knows and doesn’t know. Jacobs assumes the footage still exists (a reconstruction of it can be seen here) and says he’s tired of being quiet and frustrated by the cover-ups, but hopes we don’t get more of the same.

Are they waiting and watching?

“Have we been ignored? For God sakes, we’ve been shut up and silenced. We’ve been ridiculed; we’ve had our lives disrupted. This is more than just being ignored. We’ve been treated like imbeciles.”

Robert Salas, who was at the nuclear missile site in Montana in 1967 when 10 missiles were inexplicably deactivated after UFOs were spotted, agrees. He said this in an interview:

“There is a worldwide, let’s say, cabal that is exchanging information in secret. The intelligence community may be involved in a world cover-up. There are very deeply held secrets. The Roswell case in 1947 which offers plain evidence of two crashes in New Mexico. In 1947 our government knew they were dealing with extraterrestrial entities.”

A worldwide cabal? Roswell? Let’s not swim too deeply in the conspiracy pool just yet. For now, let’s hope the alleged film taken by now Dr. Robert Jacobs is searched for and, if found, revealed to the public and analyzed by experts. Anything less would be treating these four former officers “like imbeciles.”

Russische actrice na filmopnames in de ruimte: “We moeten opnieuw leren lopen”

De Russische filmcrew die als eerste een ruimtefilm ook echt in de ruimte opnam is weer teruggekeerd van het ruimtestation ISS. Nu ze intussen ook opnieuw een paar dagen met beide voetjes op de grond hebben gestaan, delen ze hun ervaringen met de Russische pers.

Alle rekwisieten vlogen in het rond en filmen zonder zwaartekracht was niet simpel, maar het is ze gelukt. Het was een uitdaging om alles in twaalf dagen te filmen, maar met klittenband als hun grootste vriend hebben ze de nodige beelden voor de film ‘Vizov’ (De Uitdaging) kunnen schieten. De film gaat over een chirurg die naar het ISS afreist om ter plekke een astronaut te opereren.

“Verrassend comfortabel”

Actrice Joelia Peresild (37) en regisseur Klim Shipenko (38) landden zondag weer veilig op de aardkorst na twaalf dagen in het ISS verbleven te hebben. Hiermee zijn ze de eerste filmcrew ooit die naar de ruimte is gereisd om een film op te nemen, tot frustratie van de Verenigde Staten die met acteur Tom Cruise deze mijlpaal wilden zetten. Ze hebben 30 uur aan filmmateriaal bij, waarvan 25 tot 35 minuten in ‘Vizov’ zal te zien zijn.

Peresild vertelt nu dat ze het verblijf op het ISS verrassend comfortabel vond. De temperatuur was aangenaam, en ze kon er prima slapen. “Het is fantastisch voor vrouwen daar. Je hebt er namelijk nooit last van ‘bedhaar’. Je ziet er altijd perfect uit.” Ze baalt achteraf wel dat ze niet veel heeft kunnen genieten van de bijzondere uitzichten door het strakke schema waar ze zich aan moesten houden. “We realiseerden ons een dag voordat we weer terug moesten dat we niet genoeg de tijd hadden genomen om uit de ramen te kijken.” 

Talent

Ze kregen veel hulp van de ‘echte’ astronauten van het ISS, die ook in de film te zien zullen zijn en bijdroegen met “organische dialogen”. “Ze kwamen erachter dat ze best talent hebben voor acteren”, lacht Shipenko. “Ik heb ze het licht laten zien.” En de crew was blijkbaar ook handig voor werkjes achter de schermen. Zo hielden ze soms de voeten van Shipenko tijdens het filmen even vast, zodat hij niet tegen vanalles aan zou botsen.

Filmische ontdekking

De regisseur zegt dat de ervaring op het ISS hem nieuwe manieren van film maken heeft geleerd. “Sommige scènes die ik me op een bepaalde manier op aarde had voorgesteld, leverden daar een totaal ander resultaat op. Mensen kunnen elkaar recht in het gezicht kijken in de ruimte, maar met de ene persoon die dan met het hoofd omhoog kijkt en de andere die horizontaal erboven hangt bijvoorbeeld. De camera kan zich ook op heel andere plekken bevinden. Dat transformeert je bewustzijn volledig. Voor mij was het een filmische ontdekking.”

Naar de maan?

Een sequel op de maan dan misschien? “Wij zijn er klaar voor”, klinkt het enthousiast bij Shipenko. “Wij geloven dat films over de ruimte ook echt in de ruimte gefilmd moeten worden. Waarom niet? Waarom gewoon in een studio? Als het over de maan gaat, laten we dan naar de maan gaan. Als het Mars is, laten we dan naar Mars gaan!”

Acclimatiseren

Peresild en Shipenko moeten nu vooral weer even acclimatiseren aan het leven op de aardbol, vertellen ze. Vooral met de zwaartekracht hebben ze nog moeite. “We moeten opnieuw leren lopen”, aldus Peresild.

Het is de zoveelste in het rijtje ‘eerste keren’ voor de Russen in de zogenaamde space race met Amerika. Zo lanceerden ze de eerste satelliet Sputnik, en stuurden ze het eerste dier (de hond Laika), de eerste man (Gagarin), en de eerste vrouw (Tereshkova) de ruimte in.

An international group of researchers have discovered that more than 1,600 Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) were released from FRB 121102 over a span of 47 days in 2019, more than all the recorded brief flashes of energy combined.

The experts, led by those at National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences, discovered 1,652 FRBs were released between August 29 and October 29, 2019.

This independent group of bursts were detected over a span of 59.5 hours.

The highest cadence during the burst saw a peak of 122 FRBs over the span of one hour, the highest rate of any FRB observed so far.

FRBs are very short but very intense pulses of radio waves that can last as little as one-thousandth of a second, while producing as much energy as the sun does in one year.

'The total energy of this burst set already adds up to 3.8% of what is available from a magnetar and no periodicity was found between 1 ms and 1000 s, both of which severely constrains the possibility that FRB 121102 comes from an isolated compact object,' said one of the study's co-authors, Dr Peng Wang, in a statement. 

The researchers' discovery was made using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST).  

They were first discovered in 2007, but their origins remain unknown to astronomers.

FRB 121102, which was discovered in 2012, is one of the few FRBs known to have a repeating signal.

In August 2020, astronomers confirmed that it repeats on a 157-day cycle.  

Although past astronomers have determined that FRB 121102 has a 157-day schedule, it has described as 'seasonal' 

FRB 121102 is believed to be hosted in a dwarf spiral galaxy, roughly 3 billion light-years from Earth.

The origin of FRBs are unknown and though intelligent life has been posited as a potential explanation, more likely is something in nature, perhaps a rotating neutron star, black hole or even a cosmic string left over from the Big Bang. 

Although past astronomers have determined that FRB 121102 has a 157-day schedule, it has described as 'seasonal.' 

Only a smaller number of FRBs repeat, with most of them having unpredictable appearances.

The first FRB that was discovered to repeat is known as FRB 180916.J10158+56, which has a 16-day cycle. 

FRBs – described as 'brief and mysterious beacons' – have been spotted in various and distant parts of the universe, as well as in our own galaxy.

The study was published on Wednesday in the scientific journal Nature. 

In June, astronomers announced that the CHIME radio discovered more than 500 FRBs in its first year of operation, which at the time, quadrupled the number discovered.   

FRBs were initially discovered in 2007, but it's unclear where they originate from or what causes them. 

FAST RADIO BURSTS ARE BRIEF RADIO EMISSIONS FROM SPACE WHOSE ORIGIN IS UNKNOWN

Fast radio bursts, or FRBs, are radio emissions that appear temporarily and randomly, making them not only hard to find, but also hard to study.

The mystery stems from the fact it is not known what could produce such a short and sharp burst.

This has led some to speculate they could be anything from stars colliding to artificially created messages.

The first FRB was spotted, or rather 'heard' by radio telescopes, back in 2001 but wasn't discovered until 2007 when scientists were analysing archival data.

But it was so temporary and seemingly random that it took years for astronomers to agree it wasn't a glitch in one of the telescope's instruments. 

Researchers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics point out that FRBs can be used to study the structure and evolution of the universe whether or not their origin is fully understood.

A large population of faraway FRBs could act as probes of material across gigantic distances. 

This intervening material blurs the signal from the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the left over radiation from the Big Bang. 

A careful study of this intervening material should give an improved understanding of basic cosmic constituents, such as the relative amounts of ordinary matter, dark matter and dark energy, which affect how rapidly the universe is expanding.

FRBs can also be used to trace what broke down the 'fog' of hydrogen atoms that pervaded the early universe into free electrons and protons, when temperatures cooled down after the Big Bang.

Something Really Wants our Attention. One Object Released 1,652 Fast Radio Bursts in 47 Days

The energetic phenomena known as Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are one of the greatest cosmic mysteries today. These mysterious flashes of light are visible in the radio wave part of the spectrum and usually last only a few milliseconds before fading away forever. Since the first FRB was observed in 2007, astronomers have looked forward to the day when instruments of sufficient sensitivity would be able to detect them regularly.

That day has arrived with the completion of the 500-Meter FAST Radio Telescope (aka. Tianyan, “Eye of Heaven”). Since it commenced operations, this observatory has vastly expanded the number of detected FRBs. In fact, according to research led by the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAO/CAS), the observatory detected a total of 1,652 independent bursts from a single source in 47 days.

The research, which recently appeared in the journal Science, was conducted by researchers from the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey (CRAFTS) project. CRAFTS includes researchers from the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science, the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), and multiple universities in China, Australia, and the U.S.

To break this phenomenon down, FBRs are highly energetic, producing a year’s worth of Solar output in the space of milliseconds. In rare cases, astronomers have found bursts that were repeating in nature, which has allowed them to conduct follow-up studies. While the origin of these bursts is still unknown, possible explanations range from hyper-magnetized neutron stars and black holes to cosmic strings left over from the Big Bang and even alien transmissions!

This exotic explanation is especially appealing where repeating FRBs are concerned, as repetition lends itself to artificial explanations. This includes the signal designated FRB 121102, which was originally detected in 2012 and is the first known repeater and the first well-localized FRB. Not only has this signal been traced to a dwarf galaxy 3 billion light-years away, but it is repeatedly bursting at pretty regular intervals.

Previous observations determined that it repeats on a 157-day cycle that consists of a 67-day inactive phase, followed by a 90-day period where it would repeatedly emit intense radio flares. In recent years, Pei Wang and the many institutions participating in the FAST telescope project have monitored FRB 121102’s and recorded several repeating bursts – one that consisted of 20 pulses in one day and another where 12 bursts were observed in two hours.

From these, Wang and his colleagues were able to refine estimates of FRB 121102’s cycle, which they now place at 156.1 days. But when they examined the backend data obtained by FAST during its commissioning phase, they noticed that FRB 121102 experienced a truly energetic period of activity. During the three months, running from Aug. 29^th to Oct. 29^th, 2019, FAST detected no less than 1,652 independent bursts in 59.5 hours spanning 47 days.

While the rate of radio pulses varied throughout this time, a record 122 bursts occurred during the peak hour – the highest event rate ever observed from an FRB. Based on the detected bursts, the researchers determined that they have a peak energy equivalence of 480 Nonillion (4.8 × 10³⁷) ergs at 1.25 GHz, below which the detection of bursts is suppressed. As Dr. Wang said in a CAS Newsroom release:

“The total energy of this burst set already adds up to 3.8% of what is available from a magnetar and no periodicity was found between 1 ms and 1000 s, both of which severely constrains the possibility that FRB 121102 comes from an isolated compact object.”

They also determined that bursts’ energy distribution is bimodal in nature, meaning that they are distributed one of two ways, depending on the energy level. In other words, they found that weaker FRB pulses are more random while strong ones occur with greater consistency. Moreover, these latest results also allowed the team to investigate the range of theoretical causes and narrow them down.

For one, the lack of periodicity (or quasi-periodicity) of this repeating FRB challenges the notion that it results from a single rotating compact object (aka. a black hole or neutron star). Second, the high burst rate disfavors high-energy or contrived mechanisms, which casts doubt on theories of alien agency. But most of all, they found that the high-cadence of these bursts (where many happen in the course of hour-long spans) will facilitate future statistical studies.

Basically, they anticipate that astronomers will be able to conduct investigations into the periodic nature of these bursts, with searches lasting between 1 millisecond and 1000 seconds. What’s more, they anticipate that the FAST telescope will play a vital role. “As the world’s largest antenna, FAST’s sensitivity proves to be conducive to revealing intricacies of cosmic transients, including FRBs,” said Prof. Li.

In more recent news, the CRAFTS project has reported the discovery of six new FRBs, including a repeater that is similar to FRB 121102. These and other radio sources are cataloged on the CRAFTS website.

Dr. Jennifer West, Research Associate at the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, is making a scientific case that two bright structures that are seen on opposite sides of the sky – previously considered to be separate – are actually connected and are made of rope-like filaments. This connection forms what looks like a tunnel around our solar system. 

“If we were to look up in the sky,” explains West, “we would see this tunnel-like structure in just about every direction we looked – that is, if we had eyes that could see radio light.” 

Called “the North Polar Spur” and “the Fan Region,” we’ve known about these two structures for a long time. “Since the 60s,” West says. But most scientific explanations have focused on them individually. West and her colleagues believe they are the first astronomers to connect them as a unit.
