Ze geven afgedankte paarden een nieuw leven, de Stichting Paardenopvang Achterhoek. Al jaren vangt oprichter Gerrit Simmelink in Harreveld mishandelde en verwaarloosde paarden op.
Om alle dieren goed te kunnen verzorgen is echter geld nodig en daarom werd er zondag een benefiet georganiseerd.
Bert Schmitz uit Vlodrop is woedend maar ook zeer verdrietig. Zijn laatste wens is namelijk compleet verwoest. De 58-jarige Bert is ongeneeslijk ziek, hij heeft maag- en darmkanker.
Om zijn laatste dagen zo goed en zo kwaad als dat kan prettig door te komen, is hij bezig met een tuinhuis. Maar dieven hebben dat leeggeroofd.
