No Better Magic
No Better Magic
June 2020
The serpentine swan with silvery wings
a pedalo passes with mum dad and twins
the lavenders shake with the bees
there’s no better magic than this
The rain as it leaves its beads on the pine
a shape of a cloud that’s made the boys smile
and a bird in the sky like the whole park is his
there’s no better magic than this
Maybe later on we’ll light a fire
hear the easiness from a tender choir
and then watch how the storm falls
When it’s finally here a summer day breeze
then summer is gone and we’re walking on leaves
and out to the bridge when the city’s in mist
there’s no better magic than this
The crisp of the air on cold sunny days
smoke rises up and a melody plays
there’s a man on his skates like the river is his
there’s no better magic than this..
Unusual times, with so many unanswered questions – We share music, pictures and thoughts online with the hope that we can bring some comfort and reassurance to each other. Everyone is looking for new ways to connect, make music and create whilst in our own homes. Katie Melua and I have created this video, an intimate, home-made version of our new single “No Better Magic” from my upcoming album “City Lights”, with the input of our wonderful followers and with help of our Georgian friends. We would usually be so busy bringing music to you from concert halls without time at home, so I am happy to be able to bring you something we would perhaps not have been able to do in normal life.
