Blue Champagne

Blue Champagne - purple shadows and Blue Champagne
With the echoes that still remain I keep a blue rendezvous
Bubbles rise like a fountain before my eyes
And they suddenly crystallize to form a vision of you
All the plans we started, all the songs we sang
Each little dream we knew seem to overtake me like a boomerang
Blue is the sparkle, gone is the tang;
Each old refrain keeps returning as I remain
With my memories and Blue Champagne
To toast the dream that was you
Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra – Blue Champagne, Fox-Trot (Watts-Ryerson) with Vocal chorus by Bob Eberly, Decca 1941 (USA)
NOTE: This awesome tune was composed in USA in 1941 during last months of the American peaceful neutrality in the first 2 years of the 2nd World War. On the 27th of September 1941 the song reached the top position in the Billboard’s chart of best selling retail records in USA. It’s elegance and sophisticated orchestration made the song symbolic musical farewell to the American glamour style of the 1930s. Two months later, on 7th Dec 1941 the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor put an end to that era. The younger generation of Americans, brought up on the Hollywood white fur and white telephones film productions was about to go through the horrors of war, which was to change everything in the world, including the pop-music (boogie-woogie, be-bop etc). In 1976 “Blue Champagne” had a picturesque revival on the stage and on vinyls, performed by The Manhattan Transfer and becoming again popular after its premiere in 1941 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86XtO...
