Jongste medewerker (16) Microsoft sterft na hartaanval
De Pakistaanse Arfa Karim Randhawa, die sinds haar negende werkte
voor softwaregigant Microsoft, is gisteren gestorven aan de gevolgen van
een hartinfarct. Ze was amper zestien. Dat meldt de krant The News.
De tiener, die gold als een computergenie, overleed in een militair
ziekenhuis in Lahore, in het oosten van Pakistan. Ze lag meerdere weken
in coma.
Wonderkind Microsoft benoemde het
Pakistaanse wonderkind in 2004 officieel tot "Microsoft Certified
Professional". Daarmee werd ze de jongste van honderden
softwareontwikkelaars die Microsoft wereldwijd tewerkstelt.
Contact met Gates Ze
zou in 2005 door Microsoft-oprichter Bill Gates persoonlijk uitgenodigd
zijn naar de hoofdzetel in Seattle. Gates zou zich de voorbije weken
ook ingezet hebben om de zieke tiener te laten verzorgen in de VS, maar
de dokters in Lahore raadden de verplaatsing af.
