'Het diner' van Herman Koch breekt het record van meest vertaalde Nederlandse boek. De rechten zijn inmiddels verkocht aan 37 landen, waar de roman in 33 verschillende talen verschijnt. Dat meldde uitgeverij Ambo Anthos.
Karel Glastra van Loon, Harry Mulisch en Cees Nooteboom deelden met respectievelijk 'De passievrucht', 'De aanslag' en 'Het volgende verhaal' het oude record. Alle drie de romans werden in 31 talen uitgegeven. Dat blijkt uit gegevens van het Nederlands Letterenfonds.
'Het diner' schopte het in de Engelse vertaling tot de bestsellerlijst van de New York Times. De roman ligt binnenkort ook in boekhandels in onder meer Bulgarije, Ethiopië, Egypte, Estland, Kroatië, Litouwen, Roemenië en Slovenië. (br.hln- foto's kos)
