Gestrande babydolfijn gered na lijdensweg van 12 uur
Experts en vrijwilligers zijn erin geslaagd een babydolfijntje te redden dat gestrand was in Port Willunga (Australië). De kleine tuimelaar lag liefst twaalf uur lang op het droge en werd volgens media aangevallen door een hond en een vos.
Het twee weken oude vrouwtje was waarschijnlijk in de problemen geraakt toen het zeewater zich terugtrok tijdens de jacht.
Volgens Australische media werd de dolfijn op het strand aangevallen door een hond en een vos. Dat zou blijken uit de lichte verwondingen die het zoogdier vertoonde aan een vin.
Redders die het zoogdiertje weer in zee zetten, hopen dat het kalf haar moeder snel terugvindt. Volgens Aaron Machado, die de reddingsoperatie bijwoonde, riep de jonge dolfijn tijdens de reddingsklus duidelijk om haar moeder.
