Voorstel: laat winkels open tot 22 uur
Vlak voor je uitgaat nog een nieuw jurkje kopen, of na een late vergadering snel een brood halen bij de bakker. Open Vld wil dat dit binnenkort kan. Dat bericht Het Laatste Nieuws.
"We willen de handelaars niet verplichten om open te blijven tot 22 uur. We willen hen alleen de kans geven. Een kapper die veroordeeld wordt omdat hij om 20.15 uur nog een klant bedient: dat kan volgens ons niet. We wonen en werken allemaal in een vrij land."
Het voorstel van Open Vld-Kamerleden Vincent Van Quickenborne, Ine Somers en Patricia Ceysens wordt over enkele weken behandeld in de commissie Bedrijfsleven en is een absolute prioriteit voor de partij.
Want een verplichte sluiting om 20 uur is niet meer van deze tijd, vindt Van Quickenborne. "Het winkellandschap is volledig aan het veranderen. Er zijn nu concept stores waar shoppen wordt gecombineerd met een hapje en een drankje. Die zaken zouden dan het laatavondpubliek kunnen bedienen."
Het Neutraal Syndicaat voor Zelfstandigen (NSZ), dat vooral detailhandelaars groepeert, is tegen het voorstel gekant. (br.hln)
