Released in time to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Nick’s death, Remembered For A While will be compiled and edited by his sister Gabrielle Drake and by Cally Callomon, manager of Nick’s musical Estate; with contributions from Nick's peers, critics, adherents, family – and, above all, from Nick Drake himself.
John Murray will be publishing two editions of Remembered For A While: a classic hardback edition and a signature boxed edition which will include an exclusive 10” vinyl of an unreleased recording of five Nick Drake tracks. These tracks will be from a lost 1969 BBC John Peel session which was recorded while Nick was writing his Bryter Layter album. The five tracks are ‘Time Of No Reply’, ‘River Man’, ‘Three Hours’, ‘Bryter Layter’ and ‘Cello Song’. This is the only John Peel session that Nick Drake recorded, and until now the complete session has never been available. It was previously assumed that there were only four songs from the John Peel session but when the tape was discovered, there was one extra track – a version of Bryter Layter.
Cally Callomon says “Listening to these tracks show Nick at his most intimate and unembellished. It’s as close as you we’ll ever get to being in a room alone with Nick’s songs.”
The book will be divided into five sections, which will follow the imagery of one of Nick’s best known songs, Fruit Tree: The Seed: Nick’s early life at home at school and with his family. The Flower: Nick’s time in France and Cambridge, and his early forays into composing and performing. The Fruit: Nick’s four Island Records studio albums, the final one remaining unfinished. The Harvest: Nick’s posthumous rise to fame and discovery by a new generation The Stock: a comprehensive guide to all of Nick’s work.
The fully illustrated book comes with a selection of photographs from all eras of Nick’s life – some never seen before – with reproductions of documents such as the scrap book Molly Drake kept of her son’s press cuttings, and the original and rejected album covers.
Gabrielle Drake says: “Nick is evanescent, yet ever present to me: inextricably woven into the fabric of my life, yet rarely appearing in sharp focus – except in his music. Listening to it, I am still overwhelmed by the immediacy of his presence: by melancholy and delight, by amusement (because Nick could be very funny), by bafflement and grief, by love. I think I share these feelings with a growing number of people. Nick’s death has not been an end, but a beginning. And to all who love and know him through his music, he is, perhaps, a brother. Together Cally and I are aiming to produce a book that will not seek to explain Nick, but rather to conjure him up for a brief moment, so that he can, indeed, be Remembered For A While.”

Dus moeten we wel met een afwijkende aanpak komen en trekken 106.300 euro subsidie uit voor een proef van anderhalf jaar.”
Terwijl een onopvallende Nederlandse bejaarde rond moet komen van 730 per maand.
En niet eens zijn bezoek aan het ziekenhuis, medicijnen , ziektekosten enz. kan betalen .

Integratie Somaliërs blijft achter, gemeente Bergen op Zoom grijpt in
BERGEN OP ZOOM - Geen groep in de Bergse samenleving waarvan de integratie zo achterblijft als de Somalische gemeenschap. Met een subsidie van ruim 106.000 euro wil wethouder Andrew Harijgens vijf gezinnen uit hun isolement halen. Als dat proefproject werkt, hoopt hij met die ervaring alle 400 Somaliërs in de gemeente te bereiken.

Vanwege de bloedige burgeroorlog die Somalië al decennia verscheurt, geldt er voor het erg onveilige Afrikaanse land een dieprood, negatief reisadvies. Het vertrouwen van de (gevluchte) bevolking in de overheid is erg laag, evenals tussen alle etnische groepen onderling.
Onbereikbaar door wantrouwen
,,Dat verklaart mede waarom het voor ons als lokaal bestuur zo lastig is om de Somaliërs hier te bereiken”, aldus Harijgens. ,,We proberen een brug te slaan, want als deze groep buitenspel blijft staan, is dat slecht voor de generatie die hier opgroeit.”
De Somalische problematiek is groot, schetst Harijgens. ,,Hun deelname aan maatschappij en arbeidsmarkt is vrijwel nul, de taalachterstand is groot, de aansluiting van de jeugd bij het onderwijs verloopt moeizaam en ze zorgen vaak niet voor hun leefomgeving zoals wij dat gewend zijn. Daar hebben anderen last van.”

Gezinsplan en intensieve begeleiding
Met dat geld maakt de WijZijn Traversegroep, dat iemand in dienst genomen heeft met kennis van de Somalische situatie, gezinsplannen voor vijf families en gaat hen intensief begeleiden. ,,Het doel is dat ze minder afhankelijk worden van uitkeringen, betaald werk vinden en qua taal en school stappen maken.”
Ook overige Somaliërs bereiken
Behalve dat deze vijf huishoudens op weg worden geholpen, hoopt Harijgens ook te leren hoe de overige Bergse Somaliërs (85 gezinnen, 400 personen) het best benaderd kunnen worden. ,,Als we weten wat werkt, kunnen we de aanpak bijstellen of verbreden. Lastig zijn wel de onderlinge verschillen. Wat bij de een aanslaat, blijkt juist contraproductief bij anderen. Het helpt ook niet dat er veel gebroken gezinnen zijn, waarbij de vaders vaak in Engeland zitten en de vrouwen en kinderen hier.”
Contacten via Marokkaanse moskee
Een mogelijke toegang loopt via de Marokkaanse moskee die door diverse Somaliërs wordt bezocht, aldus Harijgens. ,,Onze contacten met de moskee zijn goed en zij staan ervoor open om te helpen.”
In mei 2012 stond op BOUblog een artikel: De lessen van het Lössplateau. Het Chinese Löss-plateau, een gebied zo groot als Frankrijk en ooit een van de meest vruchtbare gebieden ter wereld, was veranderd in een woestijn. Met steun van de Chinese regering is er een herbebossingsproject gestart. Het blijkt dat het landschap zich in 15 jaar tijd herstelde van een kale woestenij in een groen landschap met een weelderige vegetatie. Als men zo bang is voor CO2, waarom plant men dan geen bomen, in plaats van die smerige windmolens? Bomen nemen CO2 op! Ze houden ook het grondwater vast met hun wortels en veranderen aldus de woestijnen in parklandschappen. Geen windmolenparken, maar echte parken waarin je kunt wandelen, voedsel verbouwen en dieren laten grazen! Deze groene revolutie is goed voor de natuur, de planten en dieren, de mensen en het klimaat.
Rob Heusdens plaatste onlangs in een reactie een reeks van YouTubes over de huidige stand van zaken met deze natuurlijke groene aanpak. Er blijken her en der al initiatieven te bestaan om bomen te planten, bij voorbeeld deze: Trees for All. Er zijn er meer. Wat denkt u van Regreen Our Planet. Help us plant a billion trees and restore global forests.. Een miljard bomen, wat zou dat kosten? De website We Plant Trees zegt: One dollar plants one tree.. Voor het bedrag van 1 miljard dollar kan men de aarde weer groen maken. In plaats daarvan pompt men miljarden in de strijd tegen CO2. Dat is toch te dwaas…
Als iemand ooit nog zegt dat we iets moeten doen aan de toename van CO2 door de verbranding van fossiele delfstoffen, zeg dan: Plant bomen! Hoeveel bomen? Nou, een miljard om te beginnen. Er is niets mis met CO2, maar de meeste mensen zijn dusdanig gefopt door het IPCC en de “groene” propaganda, dat ze deze simpele waarheid niet meer zien. Er is wel van alles mis met de natuur op aarde. Grote delen van wat ooit vruchtbaar land was, veranderden langzaam maar zeker in woestijnen. Ook dat is soms een natuurlijk fenomeen, maar het gedrag van mensen heeft daar de laatste eeuw sterk aan bijgedragen. Verstedelijking maakt dat er minder bomen groeien, het rooien van oerwouden draagt daar ook flink toe bij.
