Spring is near: celebrate Mother Earth with brands that are giving back to nature
Nature is the gift that keeps on giving. Mother Earth encourages us to learn, to grow and to explore, providing a home for all. Today, brands are increasingly aware that we need to protect and care for our planet in the same way it cares for us. With spring just around the corner, we've put some of our inspirational brands in the spotlight.
Giving back by recycling
River Cleanup
What started with a 10-minute cleanup in 2017 grew into an international organisation with 144,000 volunteers active in 57 countries. River Cleanup connects people, businesses and governments to create involvement and commitment to work together for a clean environment. The use of smart technology ensures the efficient tackling of the 8 billion kg of plastic that ends up in our oceans every year.
Sage FoodCycler
Looking for a way to reduce food waste? Meet Sage Appliances' Foodcycler: a revolutionary kitchen device that can reduce the amount of household food waste by more than 80 percent. In addition, the appliance eliminates 100 percent of the greenhouse gas emissions usually generated by food that ends up in landfills. Sage Appliances is a global leader in innovative kitchen appliances.
Freedom Moses
Freedom Moses’ comfy slides are 100% vegan and cruelty free. The organisation is constantly evolving to create a fully sustainable product. The slides are made from PCU, so when it’s time to say goodbye, they can be recycled at designated recycling facilities.
To become a more sustainable brand, Freedom Moses has partnered up with the National Plastics & Rubber Center. They conduct research into environmentally friendly raw materials and invest in research to find the right balance between polymers and plant-based materials. Another partner is One Tree Planted, to do their small part in advancing the global reforestation efforts.
Karün
Karün is a Patagonia-based B Corp that links conservation with rural emancipation through product innovation. Various types of waste, such as fishing nets, ropes and metals, are collected locally by rural entrepreneurs, then recycled and turned into durable (sun)glasses to the highest standards of quality and performance.
Giving back by producing consciously
Naturino
Isn't it cool to have trainers that are made from recycled materials? The animal-free line 'Flower Mountain for Naturino' is a collaboration between the Japanese designers of Flower Mountain and children's shoe brand Naturino. The collection offers a range of lightweight sports shoes. Innovative design and Japanese inspiration make these sports shoes truly unique.
BRAX
In order to increase awareness of sustainability, BRAX has expanded its Blue Planet collection. With the new metalabel, Blue Planet unites a large number of sustainable BRAX products featuring sustainable raw materials or environmentally friendly production methods. They stay true to their claim: feel good. Good for people and Mother Earth, and always stylish!
Tamaris
While constantly questioning themselves, what works and what has a future, Tamaris is improving its process to become more sustainable. For Tamaris GreenStep, they’ve already used sustainable leather, as well as recycled and innovative materials. By using BLOOM technology, they’re able to provide more eco-friendly materials for the outsoles, while reducing the need for fossil resources.
