Mental Mommy

Home from school at six years old, first grade,
And uncle there to tell me Mommy
Gone, Mommy not be coming back any
Time soon, Liam, Mommy had to go to
Mental hospital. Nervous breakdown.
Years later Mommy, when she gets out
Of mental, often says, “If you’re
A bad boy for me Liam you’re
Going to send me back, back
Into mental hospital, like you did
First time.” At 13
I find out Mom had been doing years
In a federal prison all that time,
For stealing, so no mental hospital for
Mommy. Breakdown ours alone.
I was on my one.

Hans Reading, Hans Smoking

My mother, poised around behavior,
would say You are sitting there
reading and smoking, Hans,
And this would describe for her,
to her utter Satisfaction,
what it is you are doing.
Knowing you I guess you are
stationed there In grief, reverie,
worry- your car broken Down,
the mechanic wanting money,
and you without, For the moment,
what it takes- and you thinking
Of love lost as you read that
impossible book Your father
last gave you….I see you smoking
And as an addict myself I know
this is something You are barely doing….
The habit smokes itself And you,
you are turning the page where
the woman From New Orleans,
like your woman, goes to Manhattan.
I suppose my mother, in her mania,
could never afford To think
there was anything hovering around,
anything Behind behavior.
Unable to sit, to go into that sorrow
Where what failed to happen
presses against what did,
She would get up, go out looking for
‘Something Different,’ do anything
to keep moving, behaving…
Going. But you, Hans, you are a sitter,
and I know You will not be getting up
until you have put this time Behind you.
And so your friends pass by waiting,
Wanting to know what you will come up
with when you rise From your stationary chair,
our Hans reading and smoking.

Tijdstippen van de dag

Merkwaardig genoeg is alles weer
onopgemerkt voorbijgegaan:
de dag zonder zorgen,
’s morgens met het scheermesje
mijn tanden gepoetst.
De trillende nekharen
onmerkbaar verwijderd
zonder pincet.
De bewuste vingers.
Ze zijn getrimd.
De aandachtige knie
kwam onopgemerkt dichterbij:
De nacht zonder aandacht
daarna met het gordijn
de sporen uitgewist.
In bewuste uren:
Ze zijn weer verstreken
onopgemerkt verstreken
zonder iets noemenswaardigs.

For Women of Afghanistan

As I walk in the streets of Kabul,
behind the painted windows,
there are broken hearts, broken women.
If they don’t have any male family to accompany them,
they die of hunger while begging for bread,
the once teachers, doctors, professors
are today nothing but walking hungry houses.
Not even tasting the moon,
they carry their bodies around, in the covered coffin veils.
They are the stones in the back of the line …
their voices not allowed to come out of their dried mouths.
Butterflies flying by, have no color in Afghani women’s eyes
for they can’t see nothing but blood shaded streets
from behind the colored windows,
and can’t smell no bakery’s bread
for their sons bodies exposing, cover any other smell,
and their ears can’t hear nothing
for they hear only their hungry bellies
crying their owners unheard voices
with each sound of shooting and terror.
Remedy for the bitter silenced Amnesty,
the bloodshed of Afghani woman’s life
on the-no-limitation-of-sentences-demanding help
as the voices break away not coming out but pressing hard
in the tragic endings of their lives.

“Woman, are you the brown March Violets?”
“I saw an angel in the Miramar
I carved and carved
until I freed her out”.
-Michele Angelo

My utopia brushed
an unusual current
turned into
autobiographical circulation of
devilish misplaced luck

as a woman today
I have
never had much fruit
much happiness

My parents’ ambition
not to see me sealing my body
to the sad painted windows

Men with unknown identity
without faces
decide for my very existence

My voice
a recorded statement
I am a hopping sparrow
………. Maybe tomorrow
behind the veil
the flesh
dies away
all the pain
the sorrow
of being a woman
in Afghanistan
in the year zero, zero, zero

I tried
I tried
to pour burning oil on the crying cells
on my body
Inside
only inside
the burning oil
were the poisoned houses of wishes!

A mushroom in the city-world-of universe
From trying to pass the dying
the head first and then dripping bread
comes

Shifting
from one age to another
Lively playing with death

I die-to-die and live to live
If I could only live
a noble life.

kluizen, achter onschuldige bakstenen gebunkerd.
more control about checks & balances!“
De e-mail was ondertekend met „Vice
Chairman of the Anglo Eastern Group
Hongkong“. Zoals u zich kunt voorstellen: waar as
